Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for August 31, 2022

Jon Moxley heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Moxley says that CM Punk is far from a "sixty-minute man" and that he has 57 minutes left in him, and that when people step in the ring with him, he finds out what people are made of. He says that CM Punk found out that he could take what he could dish up, then started looking for a way out before eventually folding. He says champions never fold, and CM Punk did not turn out to be what the fans wanted him to be. Moxley also says that Punk was not what the fans wanted him to be when he came back to pro wrestling, and while the fans may love Punk, he has zero sympathy for him because of his fragile ego, fragile body, weak mind and weak spirit. Moxley then announces he has an open contract - which he produces - for an AEW World Championship match at All Out, and says that when he says "anyone, anywhere, any time," he means it. Moxley says anybody could sign that contract and show what they are made of, then reminds potential opponents that he can outsprint, outfight, out-marathon and outwrestle them and cares less about anything than they do. He then says that "wrestling Jon Moxley may be hazardous to your health," and that whoever will be opponent has been warned. After Moxley leaves, backstage producer Ace Steel shows up, gets in the ring, takes the contract and takes it with him, teasing that he either is the opponent or knows somebody who wants to take him on.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews Chris Jericho. He says that his match with Bryan Danielson is a dream match for them but a nightmare for Danielson, as the legends may appreciate Danielson's skills as a wrestler, they will appreciate his accomplishments and accolades more. He says that one of them will be beating Danielson, then Daniel Garcia shows up and apologizes for being "ungrateful and immature" before pledging his loyalty to the Jericho Appreciation Society and stating that Jericho will soundly beat Danielson by being the best version of himself. After Jericho tells Garcia that he is the most technically gifted sports entertainer in the world, he tells Danielson that all is fair in wrestling and romance, and tells Danielson to watch his back.

Chris Jericho and William Regal guest on commentary for the next match.

Bryan Danielson beats Jake Hager. After the match, "Cool Hand" Angelo Parker and "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard run in and attack Danielson, then Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta show up to make the save for Danielson and brawl their way to the back. Jericho then runs to the ring with a chair, but Daniel Garcia shows up and takes the chair away. The ensuing argument allows Danielson to hit Jericho with a Busaiku Knee.

The Wingmen are in the ring with signs stating that The Wingmen want to be on TV more often. Ryan Nemeth says that the sexiest and hunkiest men on the roster have not been booked again. As Peter Avalon christens Dynamite "Wingmen Wednesdays," W. Morrissey suddenly shows up, stares them down and demolishes them. Stokely Hathaway shows up as W. Morrissey choke slams Nemeth and boots Cezar Bononi, and gets on the apron as Morrissey choke slams Avalon. Morrissey then sees Stokely, who hands him a business card. Morrissey then joins Stokely, who is interviewed by Tony Schiavone. When Schiavone interviews Stokely, Stokely grabs him and says the business cards are none of his business, and Schiavone refuses to probe further when Morrissey stares him down.

Backstage, Alex Marvez interviews The United Empire (Will Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher, Mark Davis). Don Callis shows up and shakes hands with Will Ospreay and compliments everything he has been doing as of late, saying that Ospreay is his own man and that this is the most exciting night since Ospreay's match with Omega.

Hikaru Shida and Toni Storm beat Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. and Jamie Hayter.

We see a video package chronicling the recent happenings between PAC and Kip Sabian, which is leading to an AEW All-Atlantic Championship Match between the two at All Out.

We hear from Miro, who says he only wanted to be redeemed. He also warns Darby Allin and Sting that the last one to help him ended up shaking three hands in Hell. Darby shows up and says Brody King needs The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody, Buddy Matthews, Julia Hart), but the House does not need Brody. Sting then shows up and says the enemy of an enemy is a friend and that showtime begins. Miro then says that The House of Black will soon see his power.

CM Punk heads to the ring. Punk talks about how he broke his foot and wrestled an entire on it to the point that he pulverized the bones on it, then got surgery for the foot - three plates and sixteen screws. (When a fan tries to chant for Colt Cabana, Punk points at the fan and says that is "sixteen more times than this fat guy has ever gotten screwed in his life.") He admits that he may have come back too early from a serious injury, then got beat up in Cleveland, Ohio and had to drive home with just his thoughts, and something did not sit well with him. He says that his foot was 100% and that he was cleared for competition, but this 100% is "a new 100%" and he is afraid this 100% is not good enough. Punk says he came back to professional wrestling a year ago because he loves the business - which does not always love one back - and the fans, who always do love him back. He feels that he let the fans down, and he felt like he let his dog Larry down after not walking him for two months and let his little sister down. Punk then feels that the love of the fans is not enough anymore. Suddenly, backstage producer Ace Steel - who trained Punk - shows up and says that this is not the CM Punk that he knows, then introduces himself to the fans and says he is proud of creating CM Punk's career and to be part of his family. He tells Punk that he did not let anyone down, especially after filling an arena entirely on a rumor that he was coming back to wrestling after seven years, then says that it is about how many times you get up after getting knocked down. He slaps Punk in the face, then tells him to get back up and gives him Jon Moxley's open contract and a pen and tells him to get back up before staring a "CM Punk" chant and telling him to sign the contract. Punk takes off his jacket, hugs Ace Steel, then says he was born a punk rock kid before saying that everybody has been trying to kill him since day one and that Moxley is not that man. Punk moves through the crowd and says that Moxley is not wild enough and that Chicago, Illinois is where the weak get killed and eaten. He says that the people of Chicago are all different, but they have the same heartbeat. He says there is one pulse running through the city and that he will pump the blood until it stops, then says Moxley cannot stop him because "We are Chicago. He then signs the open contract in the middle of the crowd.

Jim Ross has a sit-down interview - with no physicality - between Christian Cage and Jungle Boy. Christian Cage says Jungle Boy will realize that he is not in his league and that he will destroy him at less than 100%. Jungle Boy says he has cared about Christian a lot and his relationship felt familiar. Christian says he is here for himself and to make money, not to be a father figure, but Jungle Boy says his father taught him to be a man. He says that at All Out, he will not wrestle Jungle Boy; he will fight Jack Perry.

FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) and Wardlow beat "The Last Real Man" Silas Young, "Icepick" Vic Capri and Ray Jones in a trios match.

Jon Moxley suddenly heads to the ring. He says that if CM Punk wants to go out on his shield in front of the fans who made him who he is, then he owes him at least that much, then says that he and Punk will wrestle for the AEW World Championship again at All Out. He tells Punk that if he thinks he has one more miracle left in him, he had better find it fast, for he will take his head off when the bell rings and put on a display of brutality and violence that Punk has never experienced. He also says that he will show the difference between a punk messiah and a legend being made right before the fans' eyes.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews Evil Uno and Preston "10" Vance. 10 is now injured and cannot compete, but Evil Uno says that he will be taking his place on Rampage when Andrade el Idolo and Jose the Assistant shows up. Jose hands Evil Uno cash and a contract for 10 and Evil Uno to work for him after Andrade says that The Dark Order used to have power and asks what happened. Evil Uno rejects the money and the power only to get punched and hit with a stun gun by Andrade.

William Regal guests on commentary for the next match.

Wheeler Yuta beats Dante Martin, Rush and Rey Fenix in a four-way match.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews Alex Reynolds and John Silver. Reynolds says the Trios Tournament is their biggest opportunity, but as he and Silver consider going in as a duo, "Hangman" Adam Page shows up. He says he wanted the Trios Tournament finals to be their moment, but if Evil Uno and Preston "10" cannot do it, then he will gladly take their place.

The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson) beat The United Empire (Will Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher, Mark Davis) to advance to the finals of the Trios Title Tournament. After the match, Kenny Omega calls Chicago, Illinois the birthplace of AEW, and says that while there are some ta they will not take a loss from anyone from any other company, because when they started a revolution and a professional wrestling alternative, the fans trusted them and they took their words to heart. He says it is not only a passion, but a purpose, to perform for the fans, and while it is a pleasure to treating the fans to some interesting and fun guests, they will not lose. All of a sudden, The United Empire attacks The Elite, and Ospreay says it is not over by a long shot. He then hits Omega with a chair before Fletcher and Davis wrap the chair around Omega's head and hold him down so that Ospreay can go for the Hidden Blade, but Ospready gets superkicked by Matt Jackson. Ospreay soon kick Matt Jackson in the groin, and Matt is soon slammed into the chair. Nick Jackson fights back, but he too meets the same fate. Ospreay then hits Omega with Hidden Blade.

Gacy says he is pleased by their growth and hopes that others will find a home underneath their tree, then tells Grimes that he has reserved a special seat for him to join and follow in Reid and Fowler's footsteps. Cameron Grimes shows up and heads to the ring, then tells Gacy he is here not to be part of his celebration, then says that the more he thinks about it, the more it makes sense that he does not need The Schism - or anyone - to go to the moon. Gacy tells Grimes his loneliness is killing him, and while he says these words, beneath the surface is nothing but misery. He says it is tough to go all in and lose, and while Grimes is one of the toughest in NXT, he wears a mask that hides all of his insecurities. After mentioning Grimes losing the North American title and losing to Bron Breakker, he tells Grimes to admit that they are right and say that he is lonely so they can leave him alone. Grimes says he is right, but he can get back to the top. As Grimes leaves, Gacy says that it is another night without anything for Grimes, and that leads to Grimes beating up Reid and Fowler. She then says to Davenport: "You look confident...don't screw it up."

He says they are serious tonight, and tells Carmelo to tell the fans what he told him in the back. Carmelo wants to know why he is being kept off Worlds Collide, especially when he unified two titles eight months ago. He says that he is the greatest North American champ of all time, and says that he is not "secondary" like the title. He then says that he will not be defending his title at Worlds Collide, as there is no one beneath him, let alone at his level. Suddenly, the lights go out, and Ricochet shows up. Ricochet tells Carmelo and Trick to shut up for five seconds - which leads to a "Shut the hell up" chant from the fans - then says Worlds Collide should not be just NXT and NXT UK and needs SmackDown. He then tells Hayes that Hayes cannot do it like he does, and Hayes tells Ricochet that while he is "the one and only," he will be one of many to get stepped on, and that there is no room for the both of them. Ricochet says it is amazing that Hayes has had multiple title defenses because nobody remembers any of them, then says he is a giving man and will be giving the fans "a 'Melo match they can remember." Ricochet then says he has held the North American title once and can hold it again, then Trick Williams tries to go for a cheap shot only to get rocked with a roundhouse kick. Riddle says Rollins knows he is going to embarrass him, and Rollins retorts by saying that nobody can stand Riddle and that when he finishes what he started a few weeks ago, he will be doing everyone a favor. Riddle says it will take a lot more than what Rollins has been doing to get rid of him, and Rollins says that if he has to put him on the shelf next to Cody Rhodes, so be it. He then says that after this, he will move on to beating Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. Owens says that they run nothing on Raw, because it is still "The Kevin Owens Show," then tells them to tell Roman that he still owes him one. After Jey ask Sami if Owens is "his boy," Sami says "technically yes," then tells Sami to get Owens before he does. Sami tells Owens that Roman owes nobody anything ever, then Owens says Sami couldn't make himself look stupider than when he grew his hair out until he joined The Bloodline (Roman Reigns, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso) and forgot that he was being one of the best of all time. He calls Sami "The Bloodline's personal clown," and says that he still views him as a friend before telling Sami to look in the mirror and reflet on things, but Sami says Owens has no idea what he is talking about and that The Bloodline actually likes him. Sami then says that Jimmy likes him, that he and Jey are still working on things, and that Roman has personally invited him into his personal locker room. He says that the four of them personally destroyed McIntyre, then Jey threatens to destroy Owens like he did McIntyre. Owens reminds Jey that they and Paul Heyman are the only reason he did not beat Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship, then tells The Usos they can celebrate two years of their heads up Roman's ass. Sami tells Owens that he is trying to keep the peace and that he does not want a problem, then warns Owens that he is making Jey Uso want to kick his ass. Owens then proposes he and Jey just drop the microphones, call for a referee and fight.

Kevin Owens beats Jey Uso after Sami Zayn fails to hit Owens with a chair when Jey holds Owens down while Jimmy distracts the referee.

On the subject of Bryan Danielson going for a handshake, he says that he did not care if he was called a wrestler or a sports entertainer and that Jericho ruined that moment. Before Garcia can say anything, Bryan Danielson shows up and mentions Jericho trying to bully him into saying he is a sports entertainer, then says Garcia can be what he wants to be, that he respects their match and that Garcia is a wrestler. Jericho demands that Garcia state publicly that he is a sports entertainer, but Garcia says he cannot make that decision publicly with his mentor on one side and his hero on the other, and tries to leave. Jericho grabs Garcia by the arm, but Garcia turns around and shoves Jericho again. Garcia ultimately leaves, then Danielson says that while he is not the greatest fan of sports entertainment, he considered that entertaining. Jericho takes offense to Bryan Danielson being called the greatest wrestler in the world, saying he has not seen it once and that he knows more about wrestling than Danielson ever will after surviving the Hart Dungeon. Danielson then asks Jericho who Stu Hart or Owen Hart would have thought is the greatest wrestler between the two of them, then asks who would be the greatest if they had a match tonight. Jericho tells Danielson that if he wants that match, then he has it at All Out, and reminds Danielson that he choked him out and put him out for two months. Starks says he is not in the best of moods and that he is pissed off from Team Taz breaking up, losing the FTW Championship, dealing with The Factory and being betrayed by Powerhouse Hobbs. Starks says that he thought he was the exception to the rule that there is no such thing as friends in wrestling when he and Hobbs were partners in crime, but the thing about people wanting to see you do well is that they don't want you doing better than them. He says that he took Powerhouse Hobbs and showed him what it was like to eat at his table, and mentions that Hobbs nearly put him back on the shelf when he hit him in the back of his neck. Generation NXT 2.0 - NXT 2.0 recap for August 23, 2022

Bron Breakker heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Breakker talks about his match against JD McDonagh and how McDonagh proved he was one of the best in the world, as well as Tyler Bate's surprise appearance after the match. He tells Tyler Bate that he can go ahead and fly all the way to America for the sky miles, then calls Tyler out so they can talk. Tyler Bate shows up. Tyler thanks Breakker for the invitation and congratulates him on winning last week having been in the ring with McDonagh himself, then says he is not here for the sky miles. He says that NXT is home to some of the best talent the world has to offer, and he stands in this ring as the first and last NXT UK Champion. Tyler says that with NXT Europe around the corner, he can't think of a better to kick things off than unifying their titles. Breakker says he knows who Tyler is and has watched from afar, and knows how much of a threat to his title he is, as he is who he thinks of when he thinks of NXT UK. He then says this is "the NXT," where the greatest stars in the world are. He then agrees there should be one NXT Champion, and proposes that they make history in two weeks at Worlds Collide in a champion vs. champion, title-for-title match. Both men shake hands, then raise their respective championships.

Tyler Bate vs. Bron Breakker in a title vs. title match is made official in two weeks at Worlds Collide.

It's time for The Grayson Waller Effect. Grayson Waller says NXT has been "aching" for a show like this, and says that this show is all about him. Grayson Waller says he is on the cutting edge of innovation and that he will ask a question from a fan on Instagram for his first guest, whom he says is here in NXT to take opportunities from everyone: Apollo Crews. Apollo shows up. Waller asks Apollo what it's like to be nothing but a clout chaser and says everyone has tried to steal from the "Grayson Waller hype train" and failed. Apollo says he was born in NXT and that he found something missing in himself, and that he came back to find it. He admits he knew someone like Grayson Waller would be jealous of this despite a lot of people like this. Grayson Waller then asks about Apollo's accent being missing and the lack of Commander Azeez, and Azeez uses the accent briefly before telling Waller not to get it twisted, as he is still a Nigerian warrior. He says that despite becoming Intercontinental Champion, he was too focused on his past and forgot about his future. Waller then asks about the visions Apollo has had in his vignettes. Apollo Crews says that there is no better thing than knowing one's self, then Waller asks Apollo where he was when Gallus attacked Diamond Mine. This leads to an argument where Waller asks Apollo what it will be like for him to be run out of NXT. Apollo responds by asking Waller what it is like to be "a low-budget Miz," but Waller asks Apollo what it is like to be in NXT after he "couldn't cut it on Mondays and Fridays." Apollo says he was champ on Monday and Friday, and will soon be champ on Tuesday. Apollo then punches Waller in the face, and says "Now that's the Apollo Crews effect!"
