Generation NXT 2.0 - NXT 2.0 recap for August 23, 2022

Bron Breakker heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Breakker talks about his match against JD McDonagh and how McDonagh proved he was one of the best in the world, as well as Tyler Bate's surprise appearance after the match. He tells Tyler Bate that he can go ahead and fly all the way to America for the sky miles, then calls Tyler out so they can talk. Tyler Bate shows up. Tyler thanks Breakker for the invitation and congratulates him on winning last week having been in the ring with McDonagh himself, then says he is not here for the sky miles. He says that NXT is home to some of the best talent the world has to offer, and he stands in this ring as the first and last NXT UK Champion. Tyler says that with NXT Europe around the corner, he can't think of a better to kick things off than unifying their titles. Breakker says he knows who Tyler is and has watched from afar, and knows how much of a threat to his title he is, as he is who he thinks of when he thinks of NXT UK. He then says this is "the NXT," where the greatest stars in the world are. He then agrees there should be one NXT Champion, and proposes that they make history in two weeks at Worlds Collide in a champion vs. champion, title-for-title match. Both men shake hands, then raise their respective championships.

We see a video package for Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang).

Backstage, Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen have to hold Fallon Henley back while Lash Legend is being held by two referees as Briggs and Jensen make their way to the ring for the next match.

Gallus (Mark Coffey and Wolfgang) beat Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen by count-out. During the match, Lash Legend attacks Fallon Henley from behind, and when Josh Briggs steps in, Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince show up and fight Briggs, and Jensen has to jump in. The brawl makes its way to the back with Gallus and Joe Coffey left in and around the ring. Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen retain the NXT UK Championships. After the match, Damon Kemp and The Creed Brothers fight Gallus while Roderick Strong directs traffic. Security soon stands between Diamond Mine (Strong, Julius Creed, Brutus Creed, Kemp) and Gallus.

Backstage, Grayson Waller tells a backstage worker to get the ring ready for what he has to say.

At Chase University, Andre Chase introduces the class to Charlie Dempsey, who will teach the class some moves. A student volunteers, and Andre Chase has to remind Chase that it is an exhibition when he gets the student in a submission. The next volunteer is the more advanced Bodhi Hayward. Bodhi has to tap out, and Andre Chase and Bodhi both confront Dempsey for being too rough. Dempsey says the class is too soft and tells the class to "Google Billy Robinson."

Tyler Bate vs. Bron Breakker in a title vs. title match is made official in two weeks at Worlds Collide.

It's time for The Grayson Waller Effect. Grayson Waller says NXT has been "aching" for a show like this, and says that this show is all about him. Grayson Waller says he is on the cutting edge of innovation and that he will ask a question from a fan on Instagram for his first guest, whom he says is here in NXT to take opportunities from everyone: Apollo Crews. Apollo shows up. Waller asks Apollo what it's like to be nothing but a clout chaser and says everyone has tried to steal from the "Grayson Waller hype train" and failed. Apollo says he was born in NXT and that he found something missing in himself, and that he came back to find it. He admits he knew someone like Grayson Waller would be jealous of this despite a lot of people like this. Grayson Waller then asks about Apollo's accent being missing and the lack of Commander Azeez, and Azeez uses the accent briefly before telling Waller not to get it twisted, as he is still a Nigerian warrior. He says that despite becoming Intercontinental Champion, he was too focused on his past and forgot about his future. Waller then asks about the visions Apollo has had in his vignettes. Apollo Crews says that there is no better thing than knowing one's self, then Waller asks Apollo where he was when Gallus attacked Diamond Mine. This leads to an argument where Waller asks Apollo what it will be like for him to be run out of NXT. Apollo responds by asking Waller what it is like to be "a low-budget Miz," but Waller asks Apollo what it is like to be in NXT after he "couldn't cut it on Mondays and Fridays." Apollo says he was champ on Monday and Friday, and will soon be champ on Tuesday. Apollo then punches Waller in the face, and says "Now that's the Apollo Crews effect!"

Backstage, Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince) shows up and tells Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang) that they cannot steal their thunder. Security has to hold Gallus back when Gallus tries to get a piece of them.

We see a video package for Tyler Bate.

Backstage, McKenzie interviews Robert Stone and Von Wagner. Mr. Stone says that Von Wagner does not care about Tyler Bate's accomplishments, and Von Wagner says that he is a "big strong man" and that Tyler Bate will not make it to Worlds Collide when he is done with him.

She says that she was #1 contender in NXT UK, then says the NXT Women's Championship will do just fine, as she is the right heir to the title. Mandy Rose soon shows up. Mandy says Davenport's reputation precedes her before introducing herself, then says that Davenport is standing in her ring and entered into her world, where everyone follows her lead. Mandy says she is the most dominant women's champion and tells Davenport to put respect on her name, then Meiko Satomura shows up. Satomura tells Mandy that she is more dominant than her. Mandy gives Satomura credit for being a true legend, then says she cannot see a better way to put respect on her own name than by beating her. Satomura then proposes that they have a champion vs. champion match match at Worlds Collide, then Blair Davenport interjects herself into the conversation by saying she is the #1 contender. Satomura responds by making the match a Triple Threat Match.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Tiffany Stratton, who says that whoever walks out as Women's Champion will have to deal with her after she beats Wendy Choo, who will be too scared to show her face in NXT again and that the women's title will be all about her.

Backstage, Tony D'Angelo talks with Joaquin Wilde, Elektra Lopez and Cruz del Toro. D'Angelo brags about beating Santos Escobar before saying that he is a forgiving guy and that the future of the family starts tonight with a win from Wilde and del Toro.

Backstage, Wes Lee, Kayden Carter and Katana Chance talk about JD McDonagh's promo, then Wes Lee tells them to keep their eyes at the back of their heads as champions. Kayden says they have their eyes on a swivel, and Kayden says that they will be fighting champions.

The Triple Threat Match between Blair Davenport, Mandy Rose and Meiko Satomura for the NXT and NXT UK Women's Championships is made official for Worlds Collide.

Indi Hartwell is sitting on the ring apron. She says this is what rock bottom looks like, and while Blair Davenport is a potential champion, the problem is and always has been herself. She says she looked in the mirror four months ago and said she was done with the tears and the losses, and while she was looking to reach for the stars and reignite her career, she is in the same position as she was after Stand and Deliver. Suddenly, Dexter Lumis appears behind her, and Indi Hartwell suddenly sees him. Both of them meet in the center of the ring, and Indi hugs and kisses Dexter. As the crowd chants "In-Dex," the two of them head to the back together, with Dexter holding Indi in his arms. At the Performance Center entrance, Dexter hands Indi a drawing before kissing her, then he leaves the Performance Center and allows himself to be arrested by thea uthorities. The note reads "Goodbye Indi (for now...) I love you forever."

Joaquin Wilde, Cruz del Toro and Elektra Lopez are seen leaving the arena when a black SUV pulls up. Santos Escobar is in the driver seat, then says that he is not leaving without them and that they are ready to go. Wilde, del Toro and Lopez enter the SUV. Santos Escobar drives off, with Legado del Fantasma (Escobar, Wilde, del Toro, Lopez) as a unit once again.

Tyler Bate beats Von Wagner.

Backstage, as Damon Kemp and The Creed Brothers (Julius Creed and Brutus Creed) get hyped up to face Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang) next week - and Roderick Strong finds out he's not exactly trusted - Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen show up and ask them to save a piece of Gallus for them. Roderick Strong responds by saying they will destroy Gallus, and Josh Briggs responds by saying The Creed Brothers are not even the best tag team in NXT, let alone WWE, in response to Strong running their mouth about The Creed Brothers. This leads to Julius Creed challenging Briggs and Jensen to a match at Worlds Collide. Brooks and Jensen accept.

Wendy Choo beats Tiffany Stratton in a Lights Out Match.
