Raw Deal - Raw recap for February 26, 1996

Jake "The Snake" Roberts beats Isaac Yankem, D.D.S.

We see last week's video package of the Warrior, interspersed with young fans asking for "Rowdy" Roddy Piper to bring him back.

Diesel beats Bob "Spark Plug" Holly. As Diesel is heading to the back, the lights go off. When they come back on, the Undertaker is in the ring. Diesel, noticing that 'Taker is in the ring, heads straight for it, but it goes dark again. When the lights come back on, The Undertaker has disappeared. The lights go dark a third time, then The Undertaker appears on the video wall. He says he hopes Diesel doesn't expect things to be that easy, and tells him that if Diesel wants to play mind games, he is the master. He then tells Diesel he will see him on the dark side.

Bret "The Hit Man" Hart takes on Hunter Hearst Helmsley, and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels takes on The 1-2-3 Kid...next week on Raw.

Ahmed Johnson beats Shinobi. During the match, Vince McMahon interviews Goldust via telephone, who makes fun of "Rowdy" Roddy Piper through poem and says he wants to "play his bagpipe."

We hear from Mankind again. He says the most beautiful woman in the world is his mother, who he claims always understood him until she sent her away. He says that Mankind is suffering and in agony, and that the time has come to release that pain, which will be wonderful for him and not very wonderful for everyone else. He says he's coming home.

Today's featured item in the WWF Store is the official WrestleMania 12 T-Shirt, only $18 plus shipping and handling. It even lists all the cities and venues to hold the first 11 WrestleManias on the back.

This past weekend on Superstars, Owen Hart and The British Bulldog beat Hakushi and Barry Horowitz to advance in the tag team tournament. Next week, The New Rockers (Marty Jannetty and Leif Cassidy) take on The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn) in another first-round matchup.

Vince McMahon interviews "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels and Bret "The Hit Man" Hart in the ring. Shawn says that there is not a person in this building that has more respect for Bret than him, and that Bret is indeed the best there was and is, and possibly the best that ever will be, but he doesn't believe that Bret is the best there is because that title belongs to him. Bret says Shawn is one of the greatest wrestlers he's ever had the privilege of wrestling, and that the last five months have been the hardest of his own career, but he looks forward to getting in the ring with Shawn to show exactly why he's the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. He says it's not his job to beat Shawn, and as WWF Champion, it's Shawn's job to beat him. He has nothing but respect for him, but when the bell rings, he plans to hit Shawn with everything but the kitchen sink as he will be in the biggest dogfight in this life. Shawn says conditioning will play a big part in this match, and says Bret has had one tough opponent after another, but he's been holding his own lately, too. He tells The Hit Man that they do have a lot of respect for each other, but he's in the best shape of his life. As for Bret's condition, Bret compares himself to the Energizer Bunny. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper shows up, and says that he was listening to this interview and wanted to make sure the fans got a fair shake on every fight at WrestleMania 12, and says that you can't boo guys like Bret and Shawn. He says that March 31st is the night to fight, and if there's going to be a fight, there will be a winner. He then announces that Bret vs. Shawn at WrestleMania 12 will be a 60-minute Iron Man match. He tells both men to shake each other's hands now, as they'll be hating each other afterwards.

Yokozuna beats Owen Hart and The British Bulldog in a handicap match by disqualification after Vader attacks Yokozuna. Suddenly, Ahmed Johnson and Jake "The Snake" Roberts show up. Ahmed takes out Hart and Bulldog, then Ahamed and Roberts (the latter with his snake Revelations) force Vader to retreat.

"The Huckster" and "The Nacho Man" appear on "Larry Fling Live." Nacho says they left WWF because they were too old to wrestle and they couldn't keep up with the new generation. Huckster says their continuing careers are no charade. Billionaire Ted appears via satellite, and almost causes a ruckus when he says that if he's as overpaid as Huckster and Nacho Man, then maybe he should get in the ring like those "has-beens." The "has-beens" remark causes The Huckster to pull out a steel chair meant for Larry Fling, but Larry Flying pulls out a high heel to make him back off. When Huckster and Nacho are asked who will win their match at "WrestleMania," both of them say they will, causing Huckster to hit Nacho with the steel chair as well as a bunch of producers. Larry Fling has to keep the Huckster at bay with the high heel.

In the March issue of WCW Magazine: exclusive photos from Starrcade 1995! The 1995 Year In Review!

"Mean" Gene Okerlund is about to interview Sting and Lex Luger when The Road Warriors (Animal and Hawk) show up. Animal and Hawk have nothing against Sting, but they know where Lex Luger stands and wants to know where Sting's head is at. Lex Luger says he and Sting will take them on anytime, anywhere for the tag team titles. Animal also says that Lex Luger isn't even from Chicago (where he is now billed from), and that the closest he's been to downtown Chicago is the laundromat as he has no idea of what it's like to scratch and claw for everything. Sting insists Luger is from the white-collar section Chicago at the insistence of Luger, and Luger he and Sting aren't scared of them because they're the tag team champs. Hawk says Luger reminds him of a washing machine, as he agitates him and Animal, and if he and Animal have to go to the Atlanta Zoo and knock out Willie B the gorilla, so be it. If Luger wants to get in a Chicago Street Fight with him and Animal for the tag team titles, that's fine with them. Luger accepts that challenge. Sting isn't exactly happy with Luger after this, as Luger has no idea what he's getting into as he doesn't know what a Chicago Street Fight is.

Lex Luger beats The Renegade with the Torture Rack after interference from Jimmy Hart. Sting confronts Lex Luger over aligning himself with Jimmy Hart after the match, and Lex Luger tires to deny everyrything, but Sting doesn't buy it.

The Road Warriors (Animal and Hawk) beat Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) when the ref is too busy with a downed Stevie Ray and Animal takes advantage of the situation. The Taskmaster shows up and runs off with the high heel only to tie up with Hulk Hogan, and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson hits Savage with a DDT. After the match, Hogan fights off Anderson, Flair and The Taskmaster until he falls victim to the numbers game, when a stange man in white and yellow shows up and overpowers the three of them before chasing them to the back. Hogan checks on Savage, then the man in white and yellow does the same. All of a sudden, Flair shows up on commentary again and mocks Hogan for losing to Anderson again, then the man in white and yellow clears them out again. Hogan shows up with Savage and says The Booty Man - the identity of the man in white and yellow - can get it done as Bobby "The Brain" Heenan runs away from the chaos. He challenges Flair, Anderson and The Taskmaster to a six-man tag team match next week on Nitro against him, Savage and The Booty Man.

Dok Hendrix interviews Yokozuna, and for the first time ever, Yokozuna finally speaks for himself. He tells Jim Cornette that he has stood in the shadows for nearly three years while Cornette got all the glory. He says that it is now his turn after Cornette got all the credit and money, and tells Owen Hart that the only gold he wore when from when he hid behind him. As for The British Bulldog, he tells him he's simply the man at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Yokouna beats The British Bulldog by disqualification after Jim Cornette hits Yokozuna in the back with a tennis racket to no effect. Suddenly, Vader shows up and attacks Yokozuna. Yokozuna fights back, but Vader and The British Bulldog team up and handcuff Yokozuna to the top rope as Cornette holds the referee back. Despite being handcuffed, Yokozuna briefly fights back with one harm before the numbers game catches back up with him and both officials and referees have to break it up. He announces that "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels is the #1 contender for the WWF Championship, and says that HBK's opponent will be no cakewalk and that he won't stop the fight until there's a winner. He also announces that Yokozuna isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, then jokes about Vader. He says he wouldn't suspend Vader, as that is what the Board of Directors would do, and puts both Yokozuna and Vader in a one-on-one match at WrestleMania 12. Jim Cornette and Clarence Mason show up to give Piper a piece of their minds, but Piper shuts them up and tells them to have some respect. Loch Ness beats Scotty Riggs.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Woman, Miss Elizabeth and "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Ric Flair is hidden under some covers on a gurney, and he pops out in a suit with the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in his hands. Flair is ready to dance all night, but he has a return match with "Macho Man" Randy Savage for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship next week. Ric Flair isn't worried about the match, and tells Savage and Hulk Hogan that sometimes only a woman can say things as eloquently as they need to be heard. Miss Elizabeth says she had to walk behind Savage, stand in the corner and never open her mouth, and even though he took half of everything from their divorce, she took it all from him last night as she knows the World title was the most important thing to him. He says that Savage may have lived on the edge, he was really over the edge.

Konnan beats "Dangerous" Devon Storm. During the match, New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner (who is credited as the man who brought WCW to Tampa, Florida) is seen in the front row. Also, the commentators apologize if anyone took seriously their joking that WWF was responsible for the power outage on last week's Nitro.

Ric Flair tries to interfere, but Hulk Hogan pins him down while putting Anderson in the Figure Four Leg Lock just to mock Flair. After this, Woman throws powder into Hogan's face, distracting the referee. This allows Miss Elizabeth to hand one of her boots to Anderson to hit Hogan in the face with behind the referee's back. After the match, Hogan quickly recovers and goes after Flair and Anderson. Savage shows up to even the score with Hogan, and Hogan runs Flair right into Savage and the steel chair he is carrying. Ric Flair rushes to the commentary table and tells Hogan he just got his ass kicked again and that he's got the girls and the gold and the wrestling world where he wants it. Anderson gloats about his victory, and Hulk and Savage run right to commentary, scaring Anderson, Flair, Woman and Miss Elizabeth away. Hogan and Savage take over on commentary, with "Mean" Gene Okerlund following close by for an interview as Hulk Hogan tells Anderson and Flair to get back here. Hogan says he will beat Anderson in a rematch next week while Savage takes the WCW World Heavyweight Championship back from Flair.

SuperBrawl VI - The Results

The Nasty Boys (Jerry Saggs and Brian Knobbs) beat Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and Rocco Rock) in a Street Fight.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund says that on the WCW Hotline, he'll talk about the rumor of two former World Wrestling Federation champions who may be coming to World Championship Wrestling (in hindsight, this is a reference to Razor Ramon and Diesel) along with Mike Tenay, and also supply backstage coverage of SuperBrawl VI. He then interviews Konnan, who thanks the fans for congratulating him on his WCW United States Championship win. He tells the fans that he won't let them down, and tells One Man Gang that he may be bigger and heavier than him, but he's got a gameplan. He's beaten him once, and he can beat him again.

Johnny B. Badd beats Diamond Dallas Page to retain the WCW World Television Championship, earn Kimberly's $6.6 million back from Page and retain her services. (Had Page won, he would have taken the title, kept the money and taken Kimberly back.) Kimberly says she doesn't know what she's going to do with the money, but she's going to put the money to better use than Page would.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray). Stevie says there comes a time in a man's life to put his foot down about things going on, and tells Lex Luger that he committed grand larceny and they're going to get him and Sting. He promises that they will be the best team in WCW again and own the gold when the smoke clears. Booker T says Sting and Luger have no idea what they've gotten themselves into, saying they pulled on them what they wanted to pull on Sting and Luger. They tell their opponents to watch their backs, as they refuse to leave without the tag team titles. As for The Road Warriors (Animal and Hawk), it's 1996 and not 1976, and he's taking the tag team picture into the future.

Sting and Lex Luger retain the WCW World Tag Team Championships against Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) when The Road Warriors (Animal and Hawk) show up and Animal hits Stevie Ray in the back with the same kind of metal plate that Lex Luger hit Animal with on Nitro as the ref is outside of the ring dealing with Sting and Booker T. After the match, "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Sting and Luger, who tells Sting that he told him that he would hold his end of the bargain. Much like Luger, Sting doesn't care how the match ended and are just happy that they're still tag team champs.

Konnan retains the WCW United States Championship against One Man Gang. During the match, WCW Motorsports driver Steve Grissom is seen in the crowd.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund mentions the hot gossip from earlier again to advertise the WCW Hotline, then interviews The Road Warriors (Animal and Hawk). Animal says it's eye for an eye in WCW, and that they have nothing against Sting and Luger, but tells Sting that believing in Luger is a big mistake. As for Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray), they tell them to get in line if they have a problem. Hawk makes it clear that he and Animal are going to punish Sting and Luger when they get in the ring.

The Taskmaster beats Flyin' Brian in an "I Respect You" Match in 45 seconds, before the strap can even be untangled and tied to both men. (Flyin' Brian says "I respect you, bookerman," a reference to the fact that The Taskmaster, Kevin Sullivan, is a booker in WCW. The "booker man" part is removed from the VHS release, but retained on the WWE Network. He then flips off the crowd on the way to the back.) After Brian leaves, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson shows up. The Taskmaster hits him with the strap and tells him to put it on. Despite not even being dressed for a match, Arn Anderson accepts the challenge.

During The Taskmaster vs. "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson in an "I Respect You" Match, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair shows up and tries to get them back on the same page. After he succeeds, he promises that Hulkamania will be destroyed and that he will take the WCW World Heavyweight Championship from "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Anderson then tells The Taskmaster that if he wants to get Hogan and Savage, he'd get into bed with the Devil himself.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Jimmy Hart and The Giant. Hart tells Hulk Hogan he's got one eye and not a lot of time before Hulkamania is over. The Giant says he has seen the darkest, deepest reaches of men's souls where the maggots crawl, and that all that is bad and evil is inside of him and it is building like a volcano about to erupt, and it will erupt all over Hogan. He says that the last thing that will go through Hogan's mind is his fist, and that the only thing Hulk Hogan can do is understand that Hulkamania is through forever. Hart doesn't care if he can't get in the cage, as Hogan is finished. The Giant comes back and confronts Okerlund when he mentions Hogan after Jimmy Hart leaves.

Before the next match, Lex Luger is reluctant to get in the ring against The Road Warriors (Animal and Hawk) with Sting to defend the WCW World Tag Team Championships. After some hesitation - and The Road Warriors removing their spiked shoulder pads - Luger gets into the match, and the match begins.

The Road Warriors (Animal and Hawk) vs. Sting and Lex Luger for the WCW World Tag Team Championship ends in a double count-out. After the match, the fights spills backstage.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Woman. Flair says that Hogan's master plan of turning The Taskmaster against "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson has failed again, and he plans to walk into the cage and take the WCW World Heavyweight Championship back from "Macho Man" Randy Savage. There may be a ride on Space Mountain afterwards...

WCW Uncensored returns to pay-per-view on March 24!

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Miss Elizabeth. "Macho Man" Randy Savage rushes in and says he, Hulk Hogan and Miss Elizabeth are The Mega Powers again. He says it will be complete mental insanity in the cage against "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, and says that he and Hogan are stronger as a unit than ever before as they plan to divide and conquer.

Before the next match, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair gives Miss Elizabeth one last chance to walk up to his and "kiss a real man" before he hurts Savage badly. Elizabeth refuses.

"The Nature Boy" Ric Flair beats "Macho Man" Randy Savage in a steel cage match to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship for a 13th time after Woman tries to toss powder into Savage's face and fails, which distracts the referee. This proves to be a smokescreen for Miss Elizabeth to turn on Savage by handing Flair one of her high heels to use as a weapon. Flair hits Savage with the shoe as the referee's back is turned to seal the deal. Hulk Hogan shows up and confronts Miss Elizabeth and Woman, then goes after Ric Flair and "The Enforcer' Arn Anderson, who entered the cage to celebrate with Flair. Referees and Hulk Hogan have to help Savage to the back.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Hulk Hogan, who is furious that Miss Elizabeth turned on "Macho Man" Randy Savage tonight. As he wraps his fist up with tape, he says that his match is unsanctioned and that the only way to survive is to climb over the top of the cage as the referee will be on the outside. Despite his bad eye, Hulk knows that the only person who can watch his blindside is himself.

Hulk Hogan beats The Giant in a Steel Cage Match. The Taskmaster is waiting for Hogan with a steel chair after he climbs out, but Hogan overpowers him, chases him into the cage and confronts both The Taskmaster and The Giant with the steel chair. Meng, The Barbarian, The Shark, Hugh Morrus, The Zodiac and One Man Gang all get into the ring, but Hulk Hogan fights them all off simultaneously and forces them all to retreat. The newest member of the Dungeon Doom, Loch Ness, finall shows up, but he has to be held back by the rest of The Dungeon of Doom after everyone else is out of the cage.

Concerning "Rowdy" Roddy Piper as the new President, he considers Piper a good friend of his and says that desperate times lead to desperate actions. thinks that Piper will be good for the WWF until he returns at WrestleMania.
