Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for August 30, 1999

Disorderly Conduct (Tough Tom and Mean Mike) vs. Steven Regal and David Taylor ends when Sid Vicious shows up and decimates Disorderly Conduct while tossing Regal and Taylor out of the ring. Charles Robinson shows up carrying a sign stating "The Record For The Millenium [sic] 73-0." Mean Mike gets a powerbomb, as does Tough Tom, and both men get pinned before Robinson drops some signs to update the count to 75-0. Sid says that as he stands with Charles Robinson, the tally goes higher and higher, and there is seemingly no end. Now, he will have to pick it up a little bit to bring up the number and the intensity to prove without a doubt that he is "The Millennium Man" and he has no equal. The game he plays is easy: two men enter, and only one man survives. He tells the crowd they can cheer for Goldberg until their eyes pop out of their head, and lets them do it. He says the fans will push him to do something he does not want to do, then he grabs Tough Tom and hits him with another powerbomb. Sid tells Robinson they will stick together and he will keep marching until he is on top of the world, for in the year 2000, only one man's name will be chanted - his - and that will be enough. He then tells us to remember "Sid...enough said." He then tells the crowd to shut up, then puts Mean Mike in another powerbomb.

A taxi cab shows up, and out comes Lenny and Lodi. Lenny and Lodi are not allowed in the building as rabid fans cheer them on.

We see a performance by The Nitro Girls.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Lex Luger. Luger says that in his 13-year friendship with Sting, he has been through United States and World title matches, and that tonight might be the most important night for himself, the fans and for Sting. He says that Hulk Hogan stood for everything good and right for a decade, but he has proven for the last three years that it was an absolute sham. He says he does not say hollow words, and tonight, he will produce irrefutable evidence of what a con man, sham and scammer that Hulk Hogan and Hulkamania are. He says the evidence is on its way to the building, and we will see what it is later.

It is announced that Berlyn has made his way to the arena. A black limousine is then seen pulling up to the arena, and two bodyguards are seen walking with the car to the side. Berlyn climbs out of the back seat of the car, and his translator, Uta Ludendorff, climbs out with him.

Scott Riggs pins Lash LeRoux. During the match, Vampiro and The Insane Clown Posse show up, and Vampiro says to Riggs "You owe me." Vampiro watches from the top rope as Riggs pins LeRoux. Vampiro tells Riggs "You owe me" again, and Riggs says he owes him nothing.

The Revolution ("The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko, Shane Douglas) shows up. Shane Douglas asks the crowd if they are ready for a revolution, and if they agree with The Revolution ("The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko, Shane Douglas) that it is time for a change in WCW. He says that his allies in The Revolution are all the real deal, as is himself. Saturn says that for a decade, the people have been watching Rick Steiner, and says it is about time to watch him lose. He wants to face him for the WCW World Television Championship. Benoit says that if there is anyone out there who thinks the road to the United States title is an easy road, all they have to do is come forward and let themselves be known, as it is all about experience and nothing speaks louder than that. He says The Revolution is an experience you do not want to hear from. Malenko says they will not stop until they get their just due, and they agree with one thing: out with the evolution, in with The Revolution.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls. It is announced that there will be an 8-day event to find a new Nitro Girl. Each city will have two semi-finalist, and the final winner will be announced on November 8th, receive a $10,000 prize and receive an invitation to become the newest Nitro Girl.

Kaz Hayashi beats Lodi...or rather, Lenny. During the match, it is announced that WCW Mayhem is coming out in 26 days, 3 hours and 17 minutes. Also during the match, Lodi sends Hayashi into referee Billy Silverman leg-first. Lenny tries to get involved, but Hayashi pins Lenny with an inside cradle. Lenny and Lodi protest the win, but Kaz Hayashi still gets the win. Lenny and Lodi respond by hitting Hayashi with a double-team suplex. (At this point, Lenny is seen wearing a pink bow and pink ribbons on the WCW Cruiserweight Championship.)

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Hulk Hogan. Hulk Hogan says Hulkamania is running wilder than it has ever been. When he left this town, he was a champion, and he is more of a champion now that he is back. As he is talking, piano music can be heard briefly. He says that in the wrestling business, a lot of things have changed, but when it came down to the red and yellow and his son telling him to do what was right, he looked the Hulkamaniacs in the eyes. His word is his bond, and he will never stab Sting in the back. He does not know what Lex Luger is on about, and says he will be in the back being cool and eating fruit as he waits for the hard evidence that he is betraying Sting that Luger says that he has. He says he will not pull the trigger on Luger, but if Luger is trying to cause trouble between him and Sting and set him up for something, he'll kick Luger's ass. He told Sting it would be one-on-one between the two of them, and asks Sting what he is going to do when hulkamania runs wild on him.

Next week, "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair will get VHS tapes in the Superstar Series courtesy of Time Warner Video. As this is announced, piano music can be heard again.

Rey Mysterio Jr. and Eddie Guerrero beat Blitzkrieg and La Parka. During the match, Vampiro and The Insane Clown Possse (Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope) are seen watching the match from the entryway.

We see the video package for Berlyn again. "Mean" Gene Okerlund is in the ring when Berlyn finally arrives. Berlyn shows up with other men clad in black and with his interpreter Uta Ludendorff. One of the men in the ring pats down Okerlund, then everyone else gets in the ring. Okerlund speaks to Berlyn, who then speaks the answers in German, which is then translated by the interpreter, Uta Ludendorff. Berlyn says he has a message for WCW, and a knowledge of wrestling that the American wrestlers do not understand. He says that when American wrestlers wrestle, they are just wrestling, but when he wrestles, it is an art. He says he was built by a consortium of German businessmen and made into a machine, and that nobody builds better machines than the Germans. He is ready, and has chosen the first man he will destroy: Buff Bagwell. He says Bagwell represents everything America is all about: excess, narcissism and self-indulgence, and he will destroy him. When asked why he refuses to speak English, he says that he has been here before and speaks perfect English, but his language disgusts him and he refuses to speak it again. He then asks where Bagwell is, and says that in his country, losing is unacceptable.

A slightly mussed-about Lex Luger shows up from behind "Mean" Gene Okerlund and says that everything is happening exactly as he predicted it, for as he was sitting in the locker room, he was attacked from behind. When he came to, he claims to have seen the red and yellow of Hulk Hogan going through his bags and smashing out all the windows in his vehicle as he knows he has all the evidence to prove he is a phony.

The West Texas Rednecks (Barry and Kendall Windham) beat Kenny Kaos and Prince Iaukea. After the match, Kendall Windham asks if that is all WCW has for tag teams. Barry says that Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) are nothing as they have beaten them once and can beat them any day of the week. Curt Hennig says it took them one night to win the belts. As he speaks, Harlem Heat show up, brawl with the Windhams and quickly get the upper hand. Bobby Duncum Jr. shows up and hogties Booker T while the rest of the Rednecks take the boots to Stevie Ray.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Lex Luger again. Luger shows up with a manila envelope in his hands, and says he has pictures that prove that Hulk Hogan is scamming everyone. He asks Sting to come to the ring, as he says that Sting really needs to see this. Sting shows up, and Luger says he has irrefutable proof that Hogan is pulling the wool over everyone's eyes. He says that the white Hummer that rammed into Kevin Nash's limousine and nearly ended Nash's career was driven by Hogan, and he produces a picture of Hogan standing next to a white Hummer. Sting looks at the picture, and Luger says he has verified it. Hogan shows up, looks at the picture, and says it does not prove anything. He tells Luger that he is out of his mind, and tells Sting that he told him the truth and that he will not stab him in the back, and that he does not know what Luger is up to. Luger says everyone loves Hogan right now, but he had to expose him. As Sting asks Hogan if he was involved in Nash's injury, Hogan is attacked from behind Diamond Dallas Page, who is accompanied by Kanyon and Bam Bam Bigelow. Nevertheless, distrust is sown between Sting, Lex Luger and Hulk Hogan as security have to pull all three men away from each other.

We see a solo performance by AC Jazz of The Nitro Girls.

Buff Bagwell beats Van Hammer. During the match, Berlyn's entourage as well as his interpreter Uta Ludendorff are seen taking notes on Buff Bagwell.

We see the footage of the white Hummer hitting Kevin Nash's limousine, trapping Kevin Nash inside and causing great damage to Nash himself.

Evan Karagias beats Mike Enos. During the match, it is announced that WCW Mayhem will be released for Sony PlayStation and Nintendo 64 in 26 days, 1 hour and 57 minutes. Also during the match, Vampiro and The Insane Clown Posse (Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope) show up, and ICP distracts referee Charles Robinson so that Vampiro can attack Mike Enos behind Robinson's back and allow Karagias the victory. After the match, Vampiro tells Karagias that he owes him. Suddenly, The Demon shows up, and tells Vampiro "Not here...not now...not this time."

Before the next match, Brian Knobbs asks Shane Douglas and Dean Malenko who made them the leaders of the revolution, and tells him to get in the ring with The First Family (Jimmy Hart, Knobbs, Hugh Morrus) so he can give them something to cry about.

The First Family (Hugh Morrus and Brian Knobbs) vs. The Revolution (Shane Douglas and Dean Malenko) ends in a double count-out. During the match, Jimmy Hart tries to strike Dean Malenko, who gets caught by Malenko, Malenko moves out of the way, and Knobbs tackles Hart instead.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Hulk Hogan again. Hogan thanks the fans for sticking with him, and says he had to take a phone call and tell his son Nick that he would never stab him or Sting in the back. He does not know what Luger is up to, but next week, he is going to throw mud in his face and prove him wrong. He then says being WCW World Heavyweight Championship takes a lot, and says he is tired of Diamond Dallas Page calling him out every week. Tonight, he wants to get it on tonight with Diamond Dallas Page, but he knows Goldberg is advertised for the main event tonight, and asks Goldberg to come to the ring. Goldberg shows up, and Hogan says he knows what is up with Luger, but says DDP has crawled so far up inside of him that he cannot even think. He knows Goldberg is advertised, but he asks Goldberg to step aside so he can get a piece of DDP. Goldberg says it's a given that he wants to rip Goldberg's throat out, and since Hogan has a reason to do the same, he one-ups him by proposing that the two of them wipe out The Jersey Triad (Diamond Dallas Page, Kanyon, Bam Bam Bigelow) once and for all. All of a sudden, DDP shows up with Bigelow and Kanyon, and tells them that if they want a piece of the Triad, they've got it. Hogan then predicts that Goldberg and Hulkamania are not only going to rip the heads off the Triad, they will rip the roof off the building. Goldberg simply says to "tune it in and watch the massacre."

Before the next match, Disco Inferno introduces himself, calls himself a superstar, a sex symbol, a certified booty-shaking badass and an icon. He says he is "livin' la vida loca" and "all the girlies say he is pretty fly for a white guy." He then says that there is a guy trying to be just like him, and he is wearing his Television title. He calls Rick Steiner out, and tells him to bring the WCW World Television Championship with him. Rick Steiner shows up, and Disco tells him he may be the Television champ, but he is not an icon and that he needs to show that he is a man of respect. When he tells him to place the Television title on his waist where it belongs, Rick Stiener clubs Disco in the back of the head with a forearm.

Rick Steiner quickly retains the WCW World Television Championship against Disco Inferno, then tosses referee Mickey Jay out of the ring and continues to punch Disco Inferno in the back of his ribs. Perry Saturn runs into the ring and fights Rick Steiner, and manages to superkick Rick Steiner out of the ring.

"The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship against Jerry Flynn after he is attacked by the rest of The First Family (Brian Knobbs, The Barbarian, Hugh Morrus). The rest of The Revolution (Dean Malenko, Perry Saturn, Shane Douglas) rushes in to save Benoit. Benoit says there is no reason why Jimmy Hart is stepping of the toes of The Revolution, and that there is only way to settle this. Benoit then calls out Sid Vicious for interfering in other people's matching and decimating them, and dares him to get in the ring with him and find out what it is like to be on the losing end. He then tells Sid that he will have to powerbomb him more than once if he wants to be United States Champion.

Hulk Hogan and Goldberg beat The Jersey Triad (Diamond Dallas Page, Kanyon, Bam Bam Bigelow). DDP hits Goldberg in the bat with a steel chair and hits him with a Diamond Cutter, but Hogan hits Bam Bam Bigelow with a leg drop and gets the pinfall under DDP's nose.

Backstage, Sting finds "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Gorgeous George in Hulk Hogan's dressing room.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for December 15, 1997

It is announced that Bret "The Hit Man" Hart will be here tonight to clear the air about rumors of him joining the New World Order.

The New World Order shows up, checking the underside of the ring for Sting on the way to it. Vincent looks through the crowd with binoculars in search of Sting. Masahiro Chono speaks a few words for the crowd, then Eric Bischoff says hello to Kevin Nash, who is currently preparing to prove who the true giant really is. Curt Hennig says North Carolina may be "Flair country," but the United States Heavyweight Championship makes him the man in the nWo. He and "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair will get in a steel cage at Starrcade with the US title on the line and that history will be made as Flair will be retired after Starrcade. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan continues to call Sting a coward, saying he would never come out and come face-to-face with him, in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is concerned about a sneak attack by Sting, and he plans to search the building for him, making sure Sting is stung if he finds him.

The New World Order release another paid announcement where they mock The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) and Ray Traylor.

Ray Traylor beats Vincent. Sick Boy, Lodi and Van Hammer of Raven's Flock are seen heading down to their ringside seats during the match.

We see The Nitro Girls at the commentary table.

Disco Inferno retains the WCW World Television Championship against Yuji Nagata after giving both Sonny Onoo and Nagata Chartbusters.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: Disco Inferno! Chris Jericho! Diamond Dallas Page! The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner)! Lex Luger!

Eddie Guerrero guests on commentary for the next match. Dean Malenko stares down Eddie from a distance before the match.

Fut Finlay beats Dean Malenko after Eddie Guerrero distracts Malenko, which causes Malenko to hit Eddie with a forearm.

Raven 's Flock (Perry Saturn, Sick Boy, Billy Kidman, Van Hammer, Lodi) is seen in the front row.

Rey Mysterio Jr. and Juventud Guerrera beat Psychosis and La Parka.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund announces that Charlotte Police Chief Snyder and Major Barnes along with Doug Dellinger of WCW security are in the ring due to his next guest: "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, who shows up for the first time since his retirement. Anderson says he's now living in a new house he bought just down the road, but he still considers his real home the ring, as it is the only place he has felt comfortable since he was an adult. He says it's good to be back in the ring, if only for a little while. 90 days ago, Curt Hennig and the New World Order robbed Charlotte, North Carolina of seeing "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. He then tells Hennig he should have finished the job, as Ric Flair is here in the building. Ric Flair shows up, and takes the opportunity to honor the Charlotte police force, and says the police memorial is a tremendous monument to the fallen officers of the town. On behalf of WCW, he congratulates them and hands them a check for $15,000. Chief Snyder says that 22 officers slain in the line of duty, fifteen in the past eight years. On behalf of the police department and the families of the slain officers, the police department thanks WCW for the generous donation to their memorial. The police and Dellinger leave, then Ric Flair says that on behalf of Anderson and the city of Charlotte, he wants WCW to send in a video of the greatest Nitro party of all time. He calls Curt Hennig out tonight, because Charlotte can dance all night and dance a little longer, and the nWo can't beat him up in this city.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews WCW Executive Committe Chairman J.J. Dillon, but it isn't long before Eric Bischoff shows up. Bischoff says he has not yet done everything to get out of his match, and tells "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko to stay on commentary. Bischoff says the match isn't fair, saying he is not wrestler and never said that he was and that Zbyszko outweighs him by 60 pounds. He will get in the ring with Zbyszko, but Dillon has to agree to one thing: punches, kicks - especially to the head - and knock-outs count. Otherwise, the match is off. Dillon says he doesn't like Bischoff personally, yet he wouldn't say anything behind his back that he wouldn't say to his face. He agrees to Bischoff's demands due to Bischoff's martial arts background, but only if submissions count due to Zbyszko's wrestling background. Bischoff says the match is on.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Before the next match, Scott Hall gets a lot of cheers for WCW and a lot of boos for the nWo during his pre-match survey. Nevertheless, he says that tonight is "one more for the good guys."

Scott Hall beats Chris Jericho with both a choke slam - to mock The Giant - and The Outsider's Edge.

Kevin Potran and Rick Burko of Central Michigan University are the Nitro Party Pack winners this week. We see footage of their Nitro party.

Before the next match, it is revealed that Bill Goldberg has attacked Steve "Mongo" McMichael from behind. WCW Executive Committee Chairman J.J. Dillon sends Goldberg to fight Meng in Mongo's place, and Goldberg tells him "You want another victim? You got it!" As Goldberg heads to the ring, Mongo gets up and goes after Goldberg, and referees, officials and WCW security have to hold both men back.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) retain the WCW World Tag Team Championships against Konnan and Scott Norton by disqualification after Vincent interferes. Ray Traylor rushes into the ring, forcing the nWo to clear the ring.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage beats Booker T after referee Billy Silverman is knocked down and Miss Elizabeth keeps Booker T from going to the top rope. A fan tries to attack Savage during the match, but is quickly apprehended by security.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls, and pyrotechnics signal the start of the third hour.

Scotty Riggs fights "The Crippler" Chris Benoit in Raven's place, denying the fans Benoit vs. Raven for the fourth week in a row.

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit beats Scotty Riggs with the Crippler Crossface. After the match, Benoit grabs the microphone and says "Quoth the Crippler, nevermore" again before calling out Raven for ducking him, saying the anticipation of pain is worse than pain in his case. He tells the rest of Raven's Flock (Perry Saturn, Billy Kidman, Sick Boy, Lodi, Van Hammer) that they claim to be non-conformists before saying they're looking at one. He then fives over the guardrail and fights the Flock, but the numbers game catches up and Perry Saturn puts him in the Rings of Saturn.

We see a video package of Sting.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews WCW Executive Committee Chairman J.J. Dillon, who confirms that Eric Bischoff is throwing a tantrum after being put in a match against "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko and being unable to weasel his way out of the match. As if on cue, Bischoff shows up and wants to know who Dillon will use as the referee for their match. Dillon tells him it will be Randy Anderson, as they don't get much better than him. Bischoff is disappointed, and wants a tall referee that can see everything from every angle, and wants Kevin Nash. Dillon recommends Scott Dickerson, but Bischoff says Dillon can't keep picking guys fatter than him. When Dillon asks who Bischoff wants, Bischoff brings up Syxx, who still has a broken neck. Dillon then says he will pick a nWo guy, but Bischoff has to have the say on who he picks. Bischoff is okay with this, and Dillon immediately has the guy for the job: Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, who shows up and gets in the ring. Bret says it took a long time to get here, and that it's great to be in "Ric Flair country." Bret says that if Dillon is looking for a referee, he would be honored to do the job. Bischoff is excited that Bret is here at $7.5 million a year on Ted Turner's money with weekends off, but he tells Bischoff to do what he can, win if he can, but not to look to him for any help as nobdody knows better than him what it's like to be screwed by a referee. Bischoff tries to get Bret back on his side, but Bret doesn't seem to be listening to him.

The nWo release another paid announcement where they ridicule Lex Luger.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Lex Luger. Instead of Luger, however, he gets Buff Bagwell. He knows Lex Luger is in the building, having this interview planned out, then says that Luger is cowering in the locker room now that he's in the ring. He says that Luger hasn't beaten him, can't beat him and won't beat him. As if on cue, Lex Luger shows up and says Bagwell is so thoroughly pathetic from calling himself "the new Total Package" that he went to the production truck and got himself a match against Bagwell. Bagwell says he needs a referee for a match, but Lex has one lined up in the form of Nick Patrick. Bagwell then says he's not warmed up yet, but Luger has that covered by slapping Bagwell in the face. This starts the match, and Okerlund gets out of there.

Buff Bagwell beats Lex Luger by disqualification when Vincent and Scott Norton interfere and Luger sends Bagwell over the top rope.

Before the next match, Curt Hennig says he is truly too good to be true, as the gold he wears around his waist is something that belongs to him, because he is what he is and he is the best. He says there is nobody in the crowd that can beat him, and he hocks a loogie after uttering "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair's name before telling he feels like dancing all night and dancing a little longer, because he can and he is bigger, better and cooler than Flair. No matter what anyone says or thinks, there will be another Curt Hennig in the wrestling world, and he doesn't care who is brought out to the ring, as the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship is proof of that. Hennig keeps speaking as the show goes to break. (It is later revealed that Hennig was drunk that night.)

"The Nature Boy" Ric Flair beats Curt Hennig by disqualification when the nWo interferes seconds after the match begins. Curt Hennig retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship. Flair fights off the nWo, but the numbers game quickly catches up with him. As Curt Hennig puts Ric Flair in the Figure Four Leg Lock, Diamond Dallas Page shows up and fights off the nWo, and he is joined by The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) and Lex Luger. The nWo quickly retreats, and Diamond Dallas Page dares Curt Hennig to take the United States title from him. As Luger and the Steiners carry Flair to the back, due to it is noted by commentary that Bret "The Hit Man" Hart is not with the nWo. Page then grabs a microphone, and says he feels pretty good right now. He asks Hennig how he's feeling, and tells him he has a spot in the middle of the ring for him and calls him out, telling him to get in the ring and feel the bang. Two fans try to get in the ring, and one of them is kept out of the ring by announcer David Penzer while the other guy gets shoved down and kicked by referee Randy Anderson, who then puts him in an eye gouge before security takes it from there. Instead of Hennig, Page gets the entire nWo, including "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, and Page gets in the crowd to escape the nWo. Once again, Bret is not with the nWo. Hogan says that what just happened is an example of what happens when you mess with the nWo, then asks why Sting didn't come out to face him while the nWo was out here earlier. The lights go out as Hogan calls Sting a coward, and Sting is spotted in the rafters. The lights come back on, and Hogan calls out Sting as yet another fan is in almost in the ring and is being escorted out by security. The lights then go out again, then they come back on. Sting is then spotted on top of the entryway standing over the Nitro logo. Hogan continues to call out Sting, and Sting comes down from the entryway and approaches the ring as the show ends.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for October 13, 1997

Eric Bischoff, "Macho Man" Randy Savage - in a neck brace - and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan show up to start the show. It is noted by commentary that Hogan has shown up without the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in his possession. Bischoff announces the premiere of Hogan's new movie Assault on Devil's Island on TNT on October 28, and asks the fans not to sneak signs advertising the premiere to WWF shows as "they would really hate that." Bischoff then Interim WCW Commissioner "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has a lot of gall to force The Outsiders (Scott Hall and Kevin Nash) to defend the tag titles tonight and to allow Diamond Dallas Pag eto injure Savage last week. Hogan calls the injury to Savage inexcusable, and that Piper should be preventing injuries and not causing them, but the nWo will soon take care of this. Hogan then says that Piper now has the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in his possession, and says Piper's use of the word "icon" is one reason for him to destroy him. He knows that Piper will be in the building tonight, and he will take the World title back while the nWo will drop Diamond Dallas Page like a bad habit.

Before the opening bout, it is announced before the match that Disco Inferno vs. Jacqueline will not be for the WCW World Television Championship due to a ruling by the Nevada State Athletic Commission stating that a mixed gender match cannot be for a male-dominated title, therefore making the bout a non-title match.

Eddie Guerrero retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Psychosis, who is no longer accompanied by Sonny Onoo.

Mike Tenay makes another report on lucha libra and the masked luchadores, this time on the Mexico City mask-masking workshop of Victor Martinez, the meaning of the mask in lucha libre, and what it means to lose one's mask in lucha de apuestas, or "bet matches."

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Interim WCW Commissioner "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Piper says he has two orders of business to take care of right now: telling Eric Bischoff he's the boss and calling what happened to "Macho Man" Randy Savage justice. He then focuses on "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, saying he doesn't deserve the WCW World Heavyweight Championship after what he did to it, and that he has put it in good hands where he won't find it. He also has one more piece of business that is very important: admitting that he was right about The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) and forcing them to put the tag team titles on the line tonight or they will be stripped of the titles and made "more nakeder than the day they were born."

We see a performance by The Nitro Girls.

Steve "Mongo" McMichael beats Steven Regal. After the match, "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Debra McMichael and addresses rumors that Jeff Jarrett is no longer part of World Championship Wrestling, confirming that Jarrett has left the company and has a new partner. Mongo shows up and says that he warned her about Jarrett and that when two snakes get in to bed together, one bits the other sooner or later. He then tells Debra to go back home and get back in the kitchen where she can really be a star. Okerlund says Mongo has won by default, but Debra says she has a plan and a big surprise for Mongo at Halloween Havoc as she always gets her way, and tells him that a dead snake can still bite.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: Glacier and "The Cat" Ernest Miller! Alex Wright! Rey Mysterio Jr.! Steve "Mongo" McMichael!

We see some pre-recorded from Sonny Onoo, where he says he has been unable to teach Ultimo Dragon some respect with the luchadors, and now he has the real deal in the form of Yuji Nagata. Thanks to "a little friend in the WCW office," Nagata and the Dragon will square off at Halloween Havoc, and he will recollect the debt that he can never pay. We the hear from Yuji Nagata briefly.

Yuji Nagata beats Chris Jericho with the Reverse Figure Four Leg Lock, which Nagata calls the Nagata Lock.

We see Raven near a crib, and he makes the following statement: "My earliest memories are not of anything specific. They're more like memories of feelings as opposed to events. Feelings of abandonment, feelings of loneliness, feelings of sadness. They say our destiny is formed in those earliest moment, that our fate is determined at this critical juncture. The chosen begin their paths toward greatness; the ill-fated are doomed from the beginning. The unfortunate devour themselves in search for annihilation. You see, we are all prisoners of our own nature, locked in a certain pattern of behavior. I could no sooner change the path that I've been placed upon than I could stop a swallow from migrating or a salmon from spawning. So it is written. So it shall pass. Quoth the Raven, nevermore."

Bill Goldberg beats Scotty Riggs. (This is the first match in which Goldberg comes out to the entrance that he will best be known for, which was originally used by other former WCW talents, including former Bad Company member Pat Tanaka.) Raven, Perry Saturn, and an unknown man who is just as grungy-looking as the other two are seen in the front row before the match. We learn that Goldberg's finisher, which he has used to finish off his first three opponents, is known as the Jackhammer.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

Before the next match, Scott Hall and Syxx show up, the latter wearing Kevin Nash's half of the tag team titles as per "Wolfpack Rules." Scott Hall says WCW is acting real tough with a hand-picked referee in "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko and Lex Luger together, saying they couldn't beat him on their best night. He also says that The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) have challenged them knowing that Kevin Nash is at home from knee surgery, but being the working men they are, they will still defend the tag titles against The Steiners.

The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) beat The Wolfpack (Scott Hall and Syxx, with the latter replacing Kevin Nash due to "Wolfpack Rules") for the WCW World Tag Team Championships after Scott Hall drags the referee out of the ring and knocks him out only to be distracted by "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko. Zbyszko counts the pinfall for The Steiner Brothers to take the tag titles away from the nWo.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Before the next match, it is announced that "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko is an assigned official at World Championship Wrestling and The Steiner Brothers' (Rick and Scott Steiner) tag team title win is official, and that if Eric Bischoff - who no longer has the power to instantly reverse such decisions - wants to challenge the results, he will have to go through Interim WCW Commissioner "Rowdy" Roddy Piper.

Dean Malenko beats Rey Mysterio Jr. after Eddie Guerrero shows up and rips Rey's mask off his face.

Diamond Dallas Page says he doesn't know what success is as he hasn't reached his goals in or out of the ring. He doesn't measure his goals the way other people due, including "the Hogans and the Savages," like how big his house is or how expensive his car is. He and Kimberly live in the same house, he still hangs out with the same guys and he still works out at the Power Plant to keep his edge. He's the same person, only more focused, as he can't afford not to be more focused. He has respect for what Interim WCW Commissioner "Rowdy" Roddy Piper has done as Interim WCW Commissioner, noting he has a lot of his plate and that he appreciates what he did for him last week as it could have gotten ugly. He mentions the rules for his match against "Macho Man" Randy Savage at Halloween Havoc, saying "no rules" makes a man think as he knows what a savage Savage is and how much he hates him. More than anything, he knows how much he's going to be hurting after the match. He would be lying if he wasn't the least bit nervous, but it keeps him coming back to the Power Plant as it keeps him focused and reminded of where he comes from. He is not looking past Halloween Havoc as he cannot afford a negative thought in his head, as negative breeds negative and positive breeds positive. Halloween Havoc is the only thing he can afford to think about.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Interim WCW Commissioner "Rowdy" Roddy Piper again. On the subject of the tag team title match from earlier tonight, "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko has been sanctioned as a referee for Halloween Havoc, and the decision for that match stands. He knows that the nWo says tradition bites, and tells them reality bites, too before screaming "Hail the Steiners!" He says that "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan are getting ready for the cage match of the century as Eric Bischoff and "Macho Man" Randy Savage shows up. Bischoff confronts Piper, calling him an "interim junior wanna-be commissioner" and that he will pay for "the felonious assault that he was an accomplice in" to Savage last week as he tells him he couldn't fill his slippers. He also demands that Hogan be given the World title back and The Wolfpack (Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Syxx) be given the tag team titles back. Piper immediately goes into battle mode, wrapping his belt around his fist, but Konnan, Buff Bagwell, Vincent and Scott Norton show up to outnumber him. All of a sudden, a man in a Sting mask and brown wig slowly walks to the ring only to strike Piper with his baseball bat before taking the mask off to reveal it was Hogan in disguise all along. The nWo then gang up on Piper.

We see a video package for "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair vs. Curt Hennig for the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship at Halloween Havoc.

Scott Norton beats Ray Traylor after Vincent distracts referee Mickey Jay and Buff Bagwell hands Norton a can of spray paint to use as a weapon. During the match, Billy Kidman shows up with a grungier look and joins Raven, Perry Saturn and the as-of-yet unnamed third man in the front row. After the match, Bagwell, Norton and Vincent stomp on Ray Traylor before Norton spray paints "nWo" on Traylor's back.

Disco Inferno reverses a roll-up and grabs the tights to retain the WCW World Television Championship against Alex Wright despite the distraction from Jacqueline.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Diamond Dallas Page beats Curt Hennig for the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship...or does he? During the match, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair tries to get involved in the match but is stopped by WCW security. He somehow manages to get his hands on Hennig just as referee Randy Anderson counts three and chases him out of the ring.

Interim WCW Commissioner "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and referee Randy Anderson return with the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship, and Diamond Dallas Page is awarded the win. and the nWo rushes in to attack both Page and Piper, with Eric Bischoff joining in on the fun last. "Macho Man' Randy Savage hits Page with a top rope elbow drop, revealing that his neck is not hurt. Sting is also seen in the audience at the end of the show, but it is revealed to be yet another man in a Sting mask, followed by another...and another...and another. Multiple people dressed as Sting approach the ring, and they are all attacked by the nWo, and as they get beat up, more and more men dressed as Sting show up, but one of them is the real one underneath a Sting match, much to the surprise of The New World Order. He hands Piper the WCW WOrld Heavyweight Championship as the nWo runs out of the ring.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for August 18, 1997

Tonight's episode starts with a speech from Raven: "Anguish, fear and sorrow are emotions we all feel, but never more strongly than in our adolescence. When just having an acne-ridden skin can mean a lifetime of loneliness. One acceptance by others is a barometer of one's popularity. If one is different, a misfit, unattractive, maybe un-athletic, one is in for a lifetime of cruelty and suffering that will traumatize permanently. You see, scars are souvenirs you never lose. The past is never far. You can try to repress it...you can try to hold it back. You can try to deny it, but it will still continue to grow stronger and stronger like a malignant cancer that can't be satiated. Each of us manifest our pain in different manners, whether it's three in the morning in bed, tears in one's eye...whether it's a need to destroy everything beautiful, or just simply shutting one's self off from society...my father never gave me what I needed, so I understand what it's like to do without. They should understand this. They should give what's needed. I can see this. I can feel the pain. Why can't they understand? Quoth the Raven...nevermore."

We see a performance from The Nitro Girls.

Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) beat Vicious and Delicious (Scott Norton and Buff Bagwell) by disqualification after Vincent interferes. After the bell has rung, Harlem Heat cleans house.

The Barbarian beats Mortis. After the match, Wrath rushes into the ring and lays The Barbarian out with the Death Penalty, but Meng runs in and locks the Tongan Death Grip on Wrath. Mortis gets up and attacks Meng, but Meng refuses to let go of Wrath, who has to be pulled out of the ring.

Eric Bischoff shows up. He invites everyone in the crowd to his party Thursday on TBS, and it's called Clash of the Champions. His champions - "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) - are going to be there, and it will be a party in honor of them. He then mentions that "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko cannot get within 50 feet of him, just like The Giant. He thanks the Denver police for arresting The Giant last week, and warns him not to violate the restraining order again. He also tells James J. Dillon that the New World Order have been too patient, and that they are demanding their own show so that he can return to the commentary booth.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: The Faces of Fear (Meng and The Barbarian) vs. Mortis and Wrath! Eddie Guerrero vs. Dean Malenko!

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Curt Hennig. Flair says Hennig may be the best thing going today, and will soon be one of the Four Horsemen. Hennig tells Flair that the two of them teaming up does not necessarily make him a Horseman, then asks where the competition is. He says that later tonight, he will put The Giant six feet under on his back. Flair says he will ride Konnan hard, then tells Hennig to prove why he's Horseman material. Hennig says once again that he's too good to be true.

Stevie Richards beats Scotty Riggs after putting one of his feet on the rope, then Raven shows up and hits Stevie with the Evenflow DDT.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Jeff Jarrett, Eddie Guerrero and Debra McMichael. All of a sudden, Alex Wright shows up and tells Debra he's ready to join her team, and that she should be honored at the chance to recruit him. Debra admits Alex Wright has some good points, but he's not a champion anymore. He tells Debra he'll get the Cruiserweight title back and then get back to her if he wants too, then leaves. Debra says she knows Eddie will become the Cruiserweight champ and that Jeff Jarrett will retain the United States title, but if Alex Wright does take the Cruiserweight title back, maybe she'll give him the time of day.

The New World Order wish themselves a happy birthday as part of the promotion for Clash of the Champions.

The Four Horsemen ("The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Steve "Mongo" McMichael) beat Jeff Jarrett and Eddie Guerrero after Mongo scares Debra McMichael into dropping the United States title and smacks the US title into Jarrett's back as the referee is focused on Eddie.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Pyrotechinics signal the start of the second hour.

The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) show up. After Hall says that people are tuned in because of the nWo, Hall says that Birmingham, Alabama is most definitely nWo country. Nash then announces that they will be in a tag match against Lex Luger and Diamond Dallas Page, and everyone will say why they're the best that's ever been and why they're just too sweet.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

"The Nature Boy" Ric FLair beats Syxx by disqualification after Vincent, Scott Norton and Buff Bagwell attack Flair. Curt Hennig runs into the ring, causing the nWo to clear out.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews referee Nick Patrick and WCW Executive Committee head James J. Dillon. Dillon notes that Nick Patrick explained his actions at Road Wild and that the matter is closed. Patrick has not second guessed himself, and says the review of his actions have been a waste of time, then says Randy Anderson has not done the right thing by costing Lex Luger the World Heavyweight Championship. Anderson shows up and confronts Nick Patrick, then Dillon says WCW has enough problems without having to deal with officials confronting each other over their officiating, and declares the interview over.

The Ultimate Dragon retains the WCW World Television Championship against La Parka with the Dragon Sleeper when Sonny Onoo's interference attempt backfires when he accidentally kicks La Parka into the back and into the Dragon Sleeper. After the match, The Ultimate Dragon drop kicks Sonny Onoo off the apron.

During The Giant vs. Curt Hennig, Eric Bischoff shows up to get within 50 feet of The Giant and get him arrested. Head of WCW Security Doug Dellinger shows up with police officers, but tells him that they will do their job if and only if The Giant gets near him, not the other way around. Bischoff gets testy with Dellinger, who tells him he will be arresteed for assault if he hits him with the restraining order again. As an irritated Bischoff backs off, he looks around and sees "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko approaching him from commentary. Bischoff tries to escape through the crowd, but The Giant grabs at Bischoff as police officers try to hold The Giant back.

Lee Marshall alls from Columbia, South Carolina - the site of next week's Nitro - for the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews WCW Executive Committee head James J. Dillon. He says there is too much distrust between WCW management and Sting, and that he has been one of Sting's greatest supporters up to this point. He does not have a new contract with him, and that WCW's patience is wearing thin. He asks that Sting tell WCW what he wants, and if he cannot do that, then WCW may be boxed into a situation where both parties have to go their separate ways. He has bought Sting some time, and tells Sting he has between now and Clash of the Champions to come forward and tell him what he wants. Sting shows up, this time through the crowd surrounded by a sea of police officers, and enters the ring. Ge grabs Dillon, then points at the crowd as the crowd chants "Hogan." He then leaves the ring again, but then he picks up a sign from a young fan that is now at ringside that says "Hulk vs. Sting," and shows it to Okerlund and Dillon.

The new Syxx T0shirt is only $20 plus $5.95 shipping and handling.

The New World Order invite James J. Dillon to their party, calling him their guest of honor at Clash at the Champions.

Lex Luger and Diamond Dallas Page beat The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) afer Syxx, Scott Norton and "Macho Man" Randy Savage attack Luger and Page. The Giant and "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair run in and hep Luger and Page fight off the nWo to close out the show.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for May 19, 1997

This episode is an hour long due to the NBA playoffs.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund announces the start of the show, then interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Flair celebrates last night's victory, but it's not longer before Syxx shows up. He says that WCW beat nobody last night and the wrong guy was in the ring. He also says that he can take Flair after having been in the ring with him last night, and if Flair's got the guts, they can do it tonight, right here, right now. Flair once again says he doesn't know about Scott Hall or Kevin Nash, but he calls Syxx "a fly in the ointment" and tells him he will kick his flyweight ass. He shoves Syxx, which starts a brief brawl that is near the commentary table for a few seconds before Syxx runs to the back.

Steven Regal beats Prince Iaukea with the Regal Stretch.

Mike Tenay guests on commentary for the next match to announce that Nitro is coming to Las Vegas, Nevada on June 30th. On that day, he will join "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Madusa for an autograph signing at the Great Gardens box office, and a major star will make his WCW debut that night.

Masahiro Chono beats David Taylor with an STF.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Sonny Onoo. Onoo says he can make or destroy a champion, and tells Masahiro Chono he has a debt to pay with him and all of New Japan. Next week, Onoo has Chono's worst nightmare, and Chono will have a match with him. When Chono asks who it is, Onoo says he will make him sweat, and refuses to divulge any details on this mystery opponent.

WCW Executive Committee member and Chairman James J. Dillon announces that Nick Patrick is officially reinstated as a referee, and will be on probation for the next 30 days to show that he deserving of this second chance.

Scotty Riggs beats Michael Wallstreet - who now wears an anti-WCW shirt - after referee Nick Patrick keeps Wallstreet from pulling a weapon out of his pocket and kicks Wallstreet's hand off the rope during a pinfall.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund introduces Mark Martin, who is accompanied by "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. The car in front of them is going to be given away. All one has to do to win is to go anywhere where Valvoline is sold and register to win between now and June 25th. For more info, call 1-800-TEAM-VAL. He hopes to win this weekend, and Flair asks Martin to stick around long enough to stick Syxx to the wall.

Lee Marshall calls from Nashville, Tennessee - the site of next week's Nitro - for the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.

The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) beat The Four Horseman (Jeff Jarrett and Steve "Mongo" McMichael) after Kevin Greene shows up and smashes the steel Halliburton briefcase into Mongo's back. An enraged Mongo runs to the back and shoves head of WCW security Doug Dellinger to the side in the process. Before the break, it is announced that Nitro is returning to its original starting time of 7:55 PM Eastern, 6:55 PM Central and returning to two hours.

"The Nature Boy" Ric Flair beats Syxx by disqualification in his first singles match since returning from injury after The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) show up and attack Flair. Any officials who try to break this up are immediately attacked by the threesome. Nash says that if last night was Flair's finest moment, tonight is anything but. Nash says it's now about putting Flair and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, saying that Piper "had better be strapped sitting on top of that mountain, 'cause we're gonna be bumrushin' you, old man." Hall asks Nash to call the Smithsonian as they have one-half of that dinosaur exhibit they were looking for, and that Piper will be sitting in the other half soon.

Eric Bischoff shows up. Last week, he had something he wanted to say to Sting, and has called him at home, at the gym where he used to work out, and even hired a private detective agency to find him and keep track of him so he can give him a message, but he can't find him. Bischoff looks up at the ceiling a few times, then says Sting isn't here because he's a coward who is consumed with his hatred for "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan. He says Sting will never get in the ring with Hogan because he loves him and is not worth a drop of Hogan's perspiration, and that Sting should worship the ground that Hogan spits on. He then wishes Sting was here tonight so he could slap the paint off of his face. Almost as if on cue, Sting pops out from underneath the ring in the corner of the ring and hits Sting with a reverse DDT.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for May 12, 1997

This episode is one hour long due to the NBA playoffs.

Ring announcer Michael Buffer welcomes the audience to the show, then "Macho Man" Randy Savage - now without crutches. and Miss Elizabeth arrive. Savage says he is healed, and when Diamond Dallas Page attacked him last week, it pumped him full of adrenaline that he was able to slap him upside the head beat him up with his own crutches. He then calls out Page for later tonight.

It is announced that Eric Bischoff has informed World Championship Wrestling that he was contacted by Sting, and that Sing wants to conduct a one-on-one interview with Bischoff.

We hear pre-recorded comments form "Lord" Steven Regal, who says that Ultimate Dragon holds something dear to him in the World Television Championship. While he is not as athletic as Dragon, he can outwrestle him. He says that he is leaving the nobility for a while and going back to his "old, dirty rotten scoundrel self" who was able to beat people twice his age as he warns The Ultimate Dragon to watch himself.

The Ultimate Dragon beats Juventud Guerrera with the Dragon Sleeper thanks to some help from Sonny Onoo.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interivews "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Kevin Greene. Greene says he has never lost in Charlotte, North Carolina, and tells the New World Order that only three things are definitive: taxes, death and him breaking his foot off in the nWo's ass. Flair tells The Outsiders (Scott Hall and Kevin Nash) and Syxx that the three of them will be there at Slamboree. Piper says that he's had quite a few fights in Charlotte, and tells the New World Order that this isn't The Wizard of Oz and he's not Dorothy. On the subject of the three of them being dinosaurs and the nWo being young lions according to Kevin Nash, Piper considers himself a Tyrannosaurus Rex and that he will eat them up. The Outsiders and Syxx are seen on the video screen to mock Piper, Flair and Greene, and say they would be at Slamboree, but "there wasn't enough cheese to go with that whine." They say that Piper, Flair and Greene have done plenty of whining and crying and after Slamboree, they'll have plenty to whine about when they snuff them out. Nash says that Greene might as well not show his face in Charlotte, because next Sunday, their match is no-disqualification and no count-out and "somebody's gonna get beat in the middle," as The Wolfpack (Hall, Nash, Syxx) are the ones calling the shots.

During Steve "Mongo" McMichael vs. Dean Malenko, Mongo accidentally knocks the referee out with one of Dean Malenko's boots. This leads to Reggie White of the Green Bay Packers running into the ring and laying out Mongo, before pushing Jeff Jarrett off the apron. By the time the referee has come to, Reggie White is out of the ring and Malenko has Mongo in a jackknife pin. Dean Malenko beats Steve "Mongo" McMichael. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Reggie White after the match, who says that people can talk about him all they want, but when it comes to the Green Bay Packers fans and his family, he takes it personally, and tells Mongo to leave the fans out of this. Reggie knows what he's up against, and after he calls the Packers vs. the Chicago Bears the best rivalry in football, he says this Sunday will prove that the Packers are better than Mongo's Chicago Bears.

Lee Marshall calls from Asheville, North Carolina - the site of next week's Nitro - for the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.

Before the next match, James Vandenberg reveals the identity of his and Konnan's mysterious ally, whom he deem sthe deadliest man signed to pro wrestling - Wrath.

Wrath quickly beats Scotty Riggs. Glacier shows up immediately after the match and stares a hole through Wrath from the entrance ramp.

Members of the Baltimore Ravens are seen in the front row before the next match.

The Dungeon of Doom (Konnan and Hugh Morrus) beat Ice Train and Alex Wright by submission. During the match, Alex Wright shows more heelish behavior and also brings back his dancing gimmick, much to the chagrin of Theodore Long, which leads to Wright suffering a bum knee. When Long confronts him, Wright leaves Ice Train and Teddy Long high and dry, allowing Konnan to get the submission win for his time. Wright says everyone knows he's the greatest after the match.

It is discovered backstage that The Wolfpack (Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Syxx) have attacked "Rowdy" Roddy Piper backstage, targeting his hip in the process.

Eric Bischoff, now strangely clean-shaven compared to his more recent appearances, shows up. Bischoff says he promised the world that they would hear from Sting and that he is a man of his word, and if they want to hear Sting talk for the first time in month, it will happen, as he wants to know where Sting has been as the nWo was looking for him. Sting's entrance music plays for the first time in months, and it turns out to be the fake Sting. Bischoff tells him that he did not need to bring the bat, as this is an interview. He then asks the fake Sting if it's true that he has been compared to "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan throughout his career, and if it's true that the people who make those comparison believe he will never accomplish what Hogan has. The fake Sting nods his head "yes" to both questions. Bischoff then asks if it's true that way down deep inside in places where no one can see that he knows that he will never measure up to Hogan. Before he can answer that question, the real Sting shows up. The fake Sting readies his weapon, but the real Sting pulls out his own baseball bat. The real Sting fakes out the faker and hits the reverse DDT, and Eric Bischoff runs out through the crowd as the show ends.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for April 21, 1997

We see footage of James J. Dillon showing up at the arena earlier in the day to start tonight's show.

Dean Malenko retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship against Yuji Nagata with the Texas Cloverleaf. During the match, Reggie White of the Green Bay Packers is seen in the front row.

Glacier quickly beats Ciclope after the crowd chants "Glacier sucks!" After the match, the masked man from Uncensored shows up (who used to be Adam Bomb in the World Wrestling Federation) and gets in the ring, but it is a set up, as Glacier is attacked from behind by Mortis. James Vandenburg shows up as the masked man, now unmasked, has his way with Glacier as Mortis and Vandenberg take Glacier's mask. Both Mortis and the mystery man then gouge Glacier's eyes, even going so far as sticking one of the spikes in Glacier's helmet into one of them.

It is announced that James J. Dillon has been named Chairman of the WCW Executive Committee by Turner Sports.

Nick Patrick shows up in blue jeans and a sea-green polo shirt with purple trim, still petitioning to get his referee job back in WCW. Nick Patrick apologizes to any WCW employees who were hurt by his actions, but there are a few people that he will not apologize to, now or ever. When he first joined the New World Order, he thought it would be the perfect opportunity for "the little guy" to speak out when they could not, but now it seems to him that the people he wanted to speak out against are the same people the nWo are catering to, like "Macho Man" Randy Savage, whom he knew all about when Savage first came to WCW, saying that Savage has proved him correct recently. He says that the nWo caters to men like Eric Bischoff who are mad with power and letting everyone know he's the boss while forcing people to his will, like Randy Anderson, whom Patrick admits he never wanted to fight. He also refers back to when he fined Savage the biggest fine in WCW, saying that the fine was revoked and that he was told to keep his mouth shut. Patrick then proclaims that if you want someone to stand up for WCW, simply take a look at what he has done: he stayed when people walked out, he still worked when Savage injured his neck, and he took choke slams and Jackknife Power Bombs from The Giant and Kevin Nash, respectively. Patrick says he's still here, and he is a man who stands for what he believes in, and will do so if WCW gives him that opportunity again. "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko argues with Patrick, unwilling to trust him.

The Ultimate Dragon retains the WCW World Television Championship against Bobby Eaton with the Dragon Sleeper. Referee Mickie Jay takes a picture of both The Ultimate Dragon and Sonny Onoo at Onoo's behest.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "Lord" Steven Regal, who gets a shot at the Television title at Slamboree. He berates America for "not being able to beat the Japanese," and plans to take back what is rightfully "ours," as he considers himself the only person keeping WCW together at the moment. He then calls the American fans "xenophobic little toads." He tells The Ultimate Dragon he will bend him in too.

Next Monday, Nitro will be live for one hour from 7 PM to 8 PM Eastern due to the NBA Playoffs.

Meng (accompanied by a more conservatively-dressed Jimmy Hart) beats Chris Jericho by submission with a nerve hold. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Jimmy Hart after the match, and Hart says that he and The Taskmaster will sent a message to "The Crippler" Chris Benoit. The Taskmaster shows upw ith Jacqueline, saying that Meng, despite making a few mistakes in wrestling in the ring, is the baddest apple in the business. He dares anyone to step up, saying that when ten men went into a dojo with Meng, two came out. As for Benoit's message to him concerning karma, he had the same kind of karma at his age, and it was all bad. He says he let his son and Woman go. He then tells Meng that he has to feel the power. Meng is about to do something when Jacqueline tells Meng not to do it. Meng tells Jacqueline - in English - that if it wasn't for her and The Taskmaster, he could take the both of them down. Meng and Hart leave first, followed by The Taskmaster and Jacqueline.

We see a video package of "The Crippler" Chris Benoit.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock)! The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner)! Lex Luger! Mortis and James Vandenberg!

Before the next match, Hugh Morrus and Konnan of the Dungeon of Doom fight The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) before they can make their way to the ring. Security have to get The Steiners out of the area. Long-time friends and family welcome Scott at the entrance ramp.

Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock) vs. The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) ends with Hugh Morrus and Konnan of the Dungeon of Doom. Both teams in the match end up teaming together against Konnan and Morrus as they take the brawl to the back.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews James J. Dillon. Dillon says that today has been a very busy day, and that all aspects of the company will be re-evaluated. Regarding Nick Patrick's petition for reinstatement into WCW, it is being taken under advisement. He then says that his lawyers have looked into the contract of Eric Bischoff, and that there is both good news and bad news. The good news is that Eric Bischoff has absolutely no authority with World Championship Wrestling. The bad news is that Eric Bischoff has an iron-clad contract and that there is no buy-out clause, and unless he breaches his contract, it is valid. As Dillon announces that Bischoff will retain his title as Executive Vice President and continue to get a paycheck, Bischoff shows up. Dillon says that he has looked further into the New World Order, and that some of the contracts Bischoff finalized before his suspension are all valid, and that the nWo, by and large, is here to stay, with two exceptions. Big Bubba and Michael Wallstreet, unlike Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton, did not have "windows of opportunity" to join the nWo and simply jumped ship, and are therefore under contract to WCW and must return there. Eric Bischoff takes the microphone and simply tells Dillon "Bite me." Bischoff says Dillon wanted to fire him, but he couldn't. Dillon tells Bischoff that if he has something to say, say it. Bischoff tells Dillon he can't stop him from doing whatever he wants with the nWo, and that he made WCW the #1 wrestling company on the planet. When he asks if Dillon has a problem with him making the nWo bigger than WCW, Dillon says yes, and Bischoff tells him "Bite me" again. Bischoff then asks Dillon if he thinks that he can fill his shoes, Dillon says he is the first person to admit that he is the most powerful and influential person for the last two years and has accomplished a lot, considering that the standard of excellence was set up in Stamford, Connecticut (a reference to WWF). However, Bischoff has forgotten that his effort was that of a team, and that he betrayed the trust of the team. Bischoff says "Bite me" yet again. Dillon says that Bischoff has tried to single-handedly destroy the legacy of WCW as he leaves, and if Bischoff thinks he can fill his shoes, he's wrong, because what is in Bischoff's shoes stinks, and no Odor Eaters in the world can take that smell away. Dillon then states that he has two shoes of his own, that he is man enough to determine what steps they take and that he will take accountability for those steps, unlike Bischoff.

Jeff Jarrett beats Scotty Riggs with the Figure Four Leg Lock. During the match, Reggie White of the Green Bay Packers is seen in the crowd again, and when Steve "Mongo" McMichael walks down the entrance ramp with the steel Halliburton briefcase, Reggie jumps the barricade and snatches it from him, forcing Mongo to retreat.

James J. Dillon shows up during Syxx vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. after Kevin Nash hits Rey with a big boot to the back of the head followed by a Jackknife Power Bomb. He brings out medical help for Rey and sends security officers to keep Syxx from attacking Rey, who has to be taken out of the arena on a stretcher. Dillon tells Nash and Syxx that their behavior will no longer be tolerated, but Nash and Syxx don't care.

We see a video package of Lex Luger.

Lee Marshall calls form Norfolk, Virginia - the site of next week's Nitro - for the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.

In another announcement paid for by the New World Order, we see "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan on the set of McCinsey's Island starting Hogan, Robert Vaughn and Grace Jones. Hulk announces that Grace Jones is a supporter of the New World Order. He says the WCW is full of cowards, saying Sting is hiding, Lex Luger doesn't want a part of him, and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper doesn't want a part of him either. He says that the movie is nWo-produced and directed. Robert Vaughn is seen wearing an nWo T-shirt, as well as the crew.

The New World Order show up. Syxx says that "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper were around last week, talking about how the new generation guys don't have any respect. Syxx says he knows a bit about the history of this sport, and asks what kind of respect it is for Flair to rip off Buddy Roger's gimmick, nickname and finisher from him. He says he has no respect for Piper either, and that he isn't afraid of either of them. Kevin Nash tells Piper that he doesn't think too much about Piper and Flair's "laying down the asphalt and cutting down trees," and that when he came into the business, there was nothing but potholes in the road, saying Flair and Piper strip-mined the business and left nothing for the young guys. He says that WCW was nothing but a bunch of guys pushing their sons, and if you didn't have a dad in the business, you couldn't even get an opportunity. He says Scott Hall was here for a year, proved himself, and got a pay cut, so he left for New York and Nash followed suit. There, he and Hall found punishment trying to dig the business out of the funk the older guys left it in. Where he comes from - the south side of Detroit - you have to beat respect out of him. He says it's the new generation's turn to shine, and while the older guys in WCW live it up, the nWo says they have no problem flying commercial and going to the arena three in a rented Ford Taurus while trying to patch the potholes that the older guys left behind.

Diamond Dallas Page quickly beats Psychosis with a Diamond Cutter from the top rope. "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth are sighted in the crowd after the match, and Savage asks Page if he can feel the madness all around him, and that if he can't, ask Kimberly, because she felt it. Page tells Savage he isn't going to bait him again, and that if he wants a piece of him, then he and Elizabeth should hobble into the ring right now. Savage wants to go, but he is surrounded by security.

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper shows up with "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Carolina Panthers player Kevin Greene. Flair says there's nothing to talk about, and dares the New World Order to get into the ring and "pave the highway." The New World Order shows up, but then bring out...Scott Hall, who hasn't been seen in weeks. Despite being outnumbered, Flair, Piper and Greene somehow fight The New World Order, holding the members who don't get into the ring off until the closing seconds of the show.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for March 17, 1997

The show begins with a recap of the aftermath of the 12-man triangle tag team match at the end of Uncensored.

Rey Mysterio, Jr. beats Psychosis. During the match, Sonny Ono and an unmasked Ultimo Dragon (who hides his face with his hand) is seen on Japanese commentary for WCWWrestling.com.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Enforcer' Arn Anderson, who calls last night a very historic night in WCW history as Sting came home, and he is very glad to see it. Anderson announces that his health has been bad as of late, as he had suffered a neck injury around the time of Halloween Havoc and his 5th, 6th and 7th vertebrea have to be taken out and fused to fix the paralysis in his left hand. He has held this injury off for so long, as the woman who raised him - his grandmother - laid on his couch ten years ago dying of cancer, saying she hung on to see if he would become a mature, responsible adult, and when she found out he was, she was able to die in peace. He calls The Four Horsemen his extended family, and he hung on until they could hold themselves together, and last night, they worked like a well-oiled machine to a degree. There is one other bridge he must cross, as last Saturday night he saw The Taskmaster's son Ben tell his father that he was dead to him. Anderson says that The Taskmaster and his son are basically dead to each other. Anderson tells The Taskmaster that nine months ago when he kicked him in the ribs in Baltimore, Maryland that if he had ever dreamed The Taskmaster had to endure what he did personally, he would have handled it differently, and when he come back from the operating table, he wants to wipe the slate clean with him. Anderson concludes by stating that we have not seen the last of him and that he will be back.

Diamond Dallas Page quickly beats Maxx. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews DDP after the match, who is furious that "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth took it to the real world, and if Savage wants to snap into the real world, he has no problem with it, as he says Savage was born to be a chalk outline. He calls Savage a dead man walking, and as DDP is about to leave, Savage makes his presence known in the stands with Miss Elizabeth. He tells DDP to take the bass out of his voice when he's talking about him, as he is a superstar and an icon and DDP is "the wrestler with no name." Savage says he did his wife a favor, and that Kimberly is happy with him. If Page wants a match with him, he can make it happen, and Page tells Savage that if he wants to fight, they can do it right now. Savage contemplates whether to do it now or later, but Page wants to do it now, and he climbs right into the crowd and chases Savage and Miss Elizabeth through the stands and into the halls of the arena.

The Dungeon of Doom (Hugh Morrus and Kannon) vs. Joe Gomez and The Renegade is interrupted by Eric Bischoff and The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall). Bischoff says The Outsiders are here to give the audience an opportunity to see the very finest tag team competition in the world, as Hall and Nash will be wrestling tonight. The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) and Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) are both in the building, and The Outsiders are up for a match against them tonight.

The Dungeon of Doom (Hugh Morrus and Kannon) beat Joe Gomez and The Renegade.

Dean Malenko retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship against Scotty Riggs.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: The Stiener Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner)! Dean Malenko! The Taskmaster and Jacqueline! The Giant and Lex Luger!

The Giant and Lex Luger beat Knuckles Nelson and Tarantula. Luger puts Tarantula in the Torture Rack after the match. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Lex Luger and The Giant after the match, and The Giant says that he is happy that Sting is back in the WCW fold. He, Luger and The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) have been carrying the load for WCW for a while now, but Sting has come back home. Luger calls Sting more than a good hand, and when Sting rappelled down from the rafter last night, he regained faith in mankind. He says WCW has been rewarded, especially as the fans have stood by them through this. Luger says there is a new order, and while WCW did not win last night, they have a new order in the form of Sting.

The Ultimate Dragon beats Bobby Eaton.

After The Ultimate Dragon beats Bobby Eaton, The New World Order show up. They brag about their victory last night at Uncensored, and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan declares that the nWo reigns supreme and that they will rule for all eternity. Eric Bischoff then says he wants to see "Macho Man" Randy Savage beat up Diamond Dallas Page, and Savage says he will do it. The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) tell The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) they will do them a favor and challenge them at Spring Stampede.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

It is announced that Diamond Dallas Page will take on "Macho Man" Randy Savage in a no-disqualificaton match at Spring Stampede.

The Four Horsemen (Jeff Jarrett and Steve "Mongo" McMichael) beat "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright and Mark Starr with a Figure Four Leg Lock on Mark Starr. Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock) rush in with trash cans and attack Jarrett and Mongo after the match, but Debra uses the steel Halliburton briefcase as a weapon, quickly turning the tables in favor of the Horsemen as both teams brawl towards the commentary table. "Mean" Gene Okerlund then interviews Jarrett, Mongo and Debra McMichael. Debra says that Jarrett has made a good Horseman before putting herself on a pedestal and calling Jarrett and Mongo a winning combination. Jarrett says that he will prove that they are on top and Public Enemy is at the bottom at Spring Stampede. Mongo tells the fans to stop booing Debra, as Debra has more class in her little finger than all the fans do together, and tells Public Enemy to bust out the buffet table as he's ready to eat some "Public Enemy tartar." Debra concludes by saying that Johnny Grunge should call his wife an artist, because she's good at drawing...flies.

Lee Marshall calls from Duluth, Minnesota - the site of next week's Nitro - as part of the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.

Scott Norton beats Chavo Guerrero, Jr.

We hear comments from "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman. Hogan says Rodman is "the real Hot Rod," saying Rodman passed the initiation and that New York City stood still when "they shook the man's hand that shook the world." Hogan says Sting was stung when Hogan bonded with Rodman, but Rodman says Sting was just bewildered.

Before the next match, The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) and Syxx show up. Hall has a public service announcement from the nWo: they're the guys who say it, and then do it.

The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) beat Bunkhouse Buck and Mike Enos.

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit quickly beats Billy Kidman with the Crossface. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Benoit and Woman after the match, but "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair shows up before the interview takes place. Benoit says we have seen a different side of "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson tonight, and says Anderson is facing one of the biggest mountains in his career. He knows Anderson will be back as Anderson has always been good on his word. As for The Taskmaster, he's taken away everything that meant anything to him, and says The Taskmaster is repelling everything that is dear to him as well, calling what happened between The Taskmaster and his son "saddening." He tells The Taskmaster that there comes a time to step back and evaluate where one is, and The Taskmaster hasn't done it. Benoit says the man who conquers another man is strong, but the man who conquers himself is all-powerful. Woman says she doesn't have much to say about that. Flair tells "Rowdy" Roddy Piper he was in Savannah, Georgia with all the girls while Piper was at Uncensored, given the power to walk the aisle with the most elite fighting machine in the business, then says The Horsemen told him that Piper dropped the ball. Flair says that if you wanted to find out where you were, you hung out with Piper, then looks back to a few weeks ago when Piper said he wanted to go home to his family and says that maybe he should have listened, but he can't go home as he is a Horseman. Flair says Anderson won't give up and will instead ask for a Miller Lite when he wakes up from surgery. He tells Piper he has two choices: he can give up, or he be a Horseman and dance all night.

Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) vs. The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) ends when The New World Order rush into the ring and attack both teams until Lex Luger and The Giant show up and fight them off. Sting then rappels down to the ring again, and points his bat at "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan once again.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for February 12, 1996

"Macho Man" Randy Savage beats Hugh Morrus after two elbow drops from the top rope instead of one. After the match, Savage says the ref is fight for saying he doesn't want Hugh Morrus; instead, he wants "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews WCW Motorsports driver Steve Grissom at the entrance ramp. He's happy to be here tonight, and is excited about this year's racing season.

Loch Ness beats Scotty Riggs.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Woman, Miss Elizabeth and "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Ric Flair is hidden under some covers on a gurney, and he pops out in a suit with the WCW World Heavyweight Championship in his hands. Flair is ready to dance all night, but he has a return match with "Macho Man" Randy Savage for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship next week. Ric Flair isn't worried about the match, and tells Savage and Hulk Hogan that sometimes only a woman can say things as eloquently as they need to be heard. Miss Elizabeth says she had to walk behind Savage, stand in the corner and never open her mouth, and even though he took half of everything from their divorce, she took it all from him last night as she knows the World title was the most important thing to him. He says that Savage may have lived on the edge, he was really over the edge.

Konnan beats "Dangerous" Devon Storm. During the match, New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner (who is credited as the man who brought WCW to Tampa, Florida) is seen in the front row. Also, the commentators apologize if anyone took seriously their joking that WWF was responsible for the power outage on last week's Nitro.

"The Enforcer' Arn Anderson beats Hulk Hogan after "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Woman and Miss Elizabeth show up. Ric Flair tries to interfere, but Hulk Hogan pins him down while putting Anderson in the Figure Four Leg Lock just to mock Flair. After this, Woman throws powder into Hogan's face, distracting the referee. This allows Miss Elizabeth to hand one of her boots to Anderson to hit Hogan in the face with behind the referee's back. After the match, Hogan quickly recovers and goes after Flair and Anderson. Savage shows up to even the score with Hogan, and Hogan runs Flair right into Savage and the steel chair he is carrying. Ric Flair rushes to the commentary table and tells Hogan he just got his ass kicked again and that he's got the girls and the gold and the wrestling world where he wants it. Anderson gloats about his victory, and Hulk and Savage run right to commentary, scaring Anderson, Flair, Woman and Miss Elizabeth away. Hogan and Savage take over on commentary, with "Mean" Gene Okerlund following close by for an interview as Hulk Hogan tells Anderson and Flair to get back here. Hogan says he will beat Anderson in a rematch next week while Savage takes the WCW World Heavyweight Championship back from Flair.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for December 25, 1995

Lex Luger beats Scotty Riggs with the Torture Rack.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Sting, who is tired of being asked what his deal is with Lex Luger. Sting insists he is trying to straighten Luger out. As for Ric Flair, he wants one more chance to lock the Scorpion Death Lock on him and never let go. He warns the New Japan Pro Wrestling that they're where the big boys play when they show up at Starrcade, as he's in the team competition between WCW and New Japan.

Sting beats Big Bubba with a reversal into an inside cradle off the top rope.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Lex Luger and Jimmy Hart. Lex Luger says there's no "deal" between him and Sting, as they've been friends for ten long years. He says that he is the uncrowned WCW World Heavyweight Champion, and that this will be true until he wins the title. Sgt. Craig "Pitbull" Pittman shows up, agrees with Lex Luger, then asks Jimmy Hart to manage him as he wants to go where Luger's going. Jimmy Hart asks Pittman to take off shirt. He does, and it becomes apparent that his physique is nowhere near Luger's. Hart makes fun of this face tells him to get a quarter and use it to call another manager who would actually want to manage him.

Dean Malenko beats Mr. J.L. by submission.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Jimmy Hart shows up as Flair starts talking, saying that he faces "Macho Man" Randy Savage for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and that he will not be denied. Jimmy Hart apologizes for what happened last week when The Taskmaster interrupted him, then tells Flair that he owes him one as Flair saved him from Savage a few weeks ago. He asks Flair to let him be there when he wins the world title, saying that Flair will be the next WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Ric Flair says "be my guest" and tells him to start putting the party together.

Ric Flair beats "Macho Man" Randy Savage by disqualification after Lex Luger interferes and attacks Savage, who retains the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Sting shows up, but Ric Flair goes after Sting before he can do anything. Sting focuses on Flair while Savage fights Luger and tosses him out as Flair retreats. Sting and Savage finally notice each other and brawl, and the referee has to do his best to keep them from fighting one another.
