In Your House 8.5: Beware of Dog 2 - The Results

The two matches from Sunday night - Marc Mero's win against Hunter Hearst Helmsley and the draw between The British Bulldog and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels - are replayed at the start of the event.

The Caribbean Strap Match Rules are as follows: the left wrist of each opponent will be connected by a 10-foot-long leather strap, and the only way to win is to touch all four corners in succession. Pinfall and submissions do not count, and there are no disqualifications or count-outs in this match.

Savio Vega beats "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in a Caribbean Strap Match after Austin unintentionally yanks Vega into the fourth turnbuckle, not aware that Vega was touching the four corners of the ring along with him until it was almost too late. (Had Austin won, Savio Vega would have to have been "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase's chauffeur.) As per last night's pre-match stipulation, "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase is forced to leave the World Wrestling Federation. Austin heads to the back in disgust, and Vega and the crowd sing Na Na Hey Hey (The Goodbye Song) by Steam.

"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels is seen on the live chat on America On-Line.

Vader beats Yokozuna when Vader pulls an interfering Jim Cornette - under attack by Yokozuna for getting in the ring and confronting him - out of the way of a Banzai Drop and attacks Yokozuna's recently healed left leg. (On Sunday night, Yokozuna won, but the match was re-done and the finish was changed so that Vader won.)

King of the Ring comes live to to pay-per-view June 23rd!

Three matches are already official for King of the Ring: The British Bulldog vs. "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels for the WWF Championship, The Godwinns (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn) vs. The Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart Gunn), and The Ultimate Warrior vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler.

Goldust retains the WWF Intercontinental Championship against The Undertaker in a Casket Match after The Undertaker opens the casket only to find Mankind inside. Mankind pulls The Undertaker into the casket with the Mandible Claw, then locks the casket after the match is over. The casket smokes as Mankind walks away from the ring. After Goldust and Mankind leave, Paul Bearer and the referees open the casket to find that The Undertaker is gone. The arena goes dark as the show comes to a close.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for May 27, 1996

Tony Schiavone and "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko are on commentary for the first hour, while Eric Bischoff and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan are on commentary for the second hour. (This sets up different commentary configurations for different hours, which Nitro would use through most of its broadcast.)

"The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson beat The American Males (Marcus Alexander Bagwell and Scotty Riggs) after Woman gouges Bagwell's eyes and Anderson hits Bagwell with the DDT.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, Woman and Miss Elizabeth at the VIP table. Anderson tells Kevin Greene and Steve "McMongo" McMichael he's never seena football player he couldn't walk over the top of to get to a better fight, and he's never seen a woman that Ric Flair couldn't have - and that includes Debra McMichael. He and Flair don't respect anybody who wears protective gear, because it's man-to-man and hand-to-hand when anyone tangles with them. Flair says that Commissionaer Pete Rossell had better step it in now, and that Debra belongs to him. He also tells "Macho Man" Randy Savage that with Savage's money, Woman and Miss Elizabeth are his and Anderson's "sugah mommas."

We see Steve "Mongo" McMichael and Kevin Greene get ready for The Great American Bash.

Steve Doll vs. The Mauler ends when a man in a denim jacket and jeans walks down the stairs in the crowd, climbs over the guardrail and gets in the ring. Upon closer inspection, we see that this man is Razor Ramon from the WWF. Everyone in the ring leaves. Razor tells everyone they know who he is but not why he's here. In a series of references to WWF's skits making fun of WCW, he asks where "Billionaire Ted" and "The Nacho Man" are, saying that "The Nacho Man" can't get in the building while he can go wherever he wants, whenever he wants. He also asks where "Scheme Gene" is, as "I have a scoop for you." He says that when "that Ken doll look-alike, that weatherman wanna-be" (a reference to Eric Bischoff) comes out to the ring later tonight, he has a challenge for him, for "Billionaire Ted", for "The Nacho Man" and everyone else in WCW. He then says "You wanna go to war? You want a war? You're gonna get one." Tony Schiavone has no idea what's going on.

Diamond Dallas Page beats Sgt. Craig "Pitbull" Pittman after Pittman checks on Theodore Long after DDP grabs him and pushes him into the barricade.

We see a video package of "Macho Man" Randy Savage's behavior as of late as well as what has happened to him, after it is announced that he is suspended from all WCW events.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews The Shark backstage. The Shark says that Jimmy Hart and The Taskmaster have thrown him out of The Dungeon of Doom after Hart, The Taskmaster, and The Giant have made him lose his match at the Slamboree pre-show. He plans to hurt The Taskmaster, The Giant and maybe Jimmy Hart tonight and win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. He almost ended Hulkamania, and now he plans to end The Giant.

We see Hulk Hogan, who has been rarely seen on WCW lately, with George Foreman, Dennis Rodman, Kevin Greene, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Shaquille O'Neil.

When Eric Bischoff and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan appear on commentary for the second hour, Bischoff refuses to dignify the interruption by Razor Ramon, but tells Razor he's "ready, willing and able" if he wants to say something to him.

The Giant ertains the WCW World Heavyweight Championship against The Shark. After the match, Big Bubba shows up and cuts The Shark's hair, first with scissors and then with an electric razor.

Lex Luger retains the WCW World Television Championship against Maxx with the Torture Rack. After the match, "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Lex Luger, who isn't questioning how he got his shot at the World title and says that nobody wants The Giant more than him. He can't believe The Giant put him through a table with a choke slam to take him out, but he's still standing and he put Maxx in the Torture Rack. He sends a message to all the big men in WCW, especially The Giant, and tells The Giant that payback is coming his way.

"Hardwork" Bobby Walker beats Brad Armstrong.

We see another, more in-your-face "Blood Runs Cold" promo, and this time "Glacier" is revealed to be coming to WCW.

"Lord" Steven Regal beats "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright with a jackknife pin. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Regal after the match, Regal - who has adverse feelings towards Americans - says that his father "would be proud of him for beating 'Junior Adolf' there" and makes fun of the current happenings of WCW, including Razor Ramon and The Giant being WCW World Heavyweight Champion (saying that the World champion is "from Barnum and Bailey"). He makes fun of the fans, then challenges Sting to a match, saying that if he can beat Sting, he might get a shot at The Giant and the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

Scott Steiner vs. Sting ends when Rick Steiner and Lex Luger, who show up to support Scott Steiner and Sting respectively, fight each other when Lex Luger gets physically involved in the match outside of the ring, leading Rick Steiner to chase Luger around outside of the ring. Both sides brawl, and several wrestlers from the locker room have to hold all four men back.

As Eric Bischoff and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan talk at the end of the show, Razor Ramon shows up and tells Bischoff he has a big mouth, and that "we are sick of it." He thinks WCW being "where the big boys play" is a joke, and tells Bischoff to tell "Billionaire Ted" to get "three of his very best." He makes fun of "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Sting, then says Bischoff can pick anyone he wants, but in the end, "we" are taking over. After saying "You wanna go to war? You want a war? You're gonna get one" again, he tells Bischoff that they should do it right: in the ring, where it matters, not in promos, newspapers or dirtsheets. He then tells Bischoff that "we are taking over."

Raw Deal - Raw recap for May 27, 1996

Goldust and THe Ultimate Warrior fight to a double count-out and neither man advances in the King of the Ring tournament. During the match, Vince McMahon apologizes for not delivering on three matches last night, and announces that there will be a special pay-per-view event tomorrow night at 8 PM Eastern and Pacific/7 PM Central where the three matches - Savio Vega vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in a Caribbean Strap match, Yokozuna vs. Vader and Goldust vs. The Undertaker for the WWF Intercontinental Championship in a casket match - will take place. Also, Goldust tries to retreat from the match, but Ahmed Johnson - who is scheduled to face Vader later tonight - tosses Goldust back into the ring before the commercial break. Before the match ends, however, Jerry "The King" Lawler tries to attack The Warrior with what is left of Marlena's director's chair when he says that Warrior is going after Marlena (as opposed to Goldust), but runs away when Warrior notices him.

We see footage of the storm near the arena on the night of In Your House: Beware of Dog, as well as the power going out and the Superstars having their matches in the dark. The power outage even makes the front page of the Florence Morning News in Florence, South Carolina.

"The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase says Savio Vega's victory in the dark last night was a fluke, and says Vega can't beat Austin even on his best day. DiBiase decides to "sweeten the pie" and proclaims that he is so confident that Austin will beat Vega, The Million Dollar Man himself will forfeit his WWF career and leave the World Wrestling Federation.

The Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart Gunn) show up to their match with Sunny as their manager.

Hillbilly Jim guests on commentary for the next match.

The Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart Gunn) beat The Bodydonnas (Skip and Zip) after Bart Gunn reverses a top rope cross body from Skip into a pinfall. During the match, Harvey Whippelman takes notes on the officiating of the match from the aisle. Also, Phineas I. Godwinn shows up and confronts Sunny, and Hillbilly Jim and Henry O. Godwinn have to keep him away from Sunny by taking Phineas to the back.

The rematch for the WWF Championship between The British Bulldog and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels is official for King of the Ring.

Owen Hart guests on commentary for the next match.

Vader beats Ahmed Johnson to advance to the second round of the King of the Ring tournament and hand Ahmed his first-ever loss. During the match, Jim Cornette tries to distract the referee, but Johnson tosses Cornette into the ring. Ahmed whips Cornette into Vader, then hits a spinebuster on Vader. Owen Hart runs to the top rope and hits Ahmed in the back with the cast on his arm, and Vader pins Ahmed for the three-count. After the match, it is realized that Ahmed Johnson is out cold.

Ahmed Johnson is carried to the back on a stretcher, as officials are unable to bring his back around. Goldust shows up and gives Ahmed mouth-to-mouth, but when AHmed comes to and sees the gold paint on his lips, he goes after Goldust. He pins Bob "Spark Plugg" Holly to the wall and asks "Wildman" Marc Mero where Goldust is, and when he finds Goldust's dressing room, thanks to Mero, he plows through the guy guarding it and through the door, finding that Goldust isn't there. He then punches out the cameraman before going further into the backstage area looking for Goldust.

Flair says Savage is somewhere in town, but is locked up after trying to spoil an evening between him and Miss Elizabeth. He then says Steve "Mongo" McMichael isn't in the building because he and Anderson have him scared, and tells him and Greene that they've made a mistake for coming to North Carolina without his permission and for thinking they can cross-train football and professional wrestling. He then tells Kevin Greene he's not going to make it to mini-camp, then walks off with a wine glass and a bottle of champagne along with Woman and Miss Elizabeth.

Ric Flair joins in on commentary with Woman and Miss Elizabeth with the trappings of the buffet table, and guests on commentary for the rest of the night.

We see footage from last night's show at Madison Square Garden. We see footage of Henry O. Godwinn and Hillbilly Jim catching Sunny come out of their locker room before Phineas I. Godwinn shows up to realize he's been caught. Later that night, The Godwinns would face The Bodydonnas (Skip and Zip) for the WWF Tag Team Championships, and after Sunny gets on the apron only to get a big kiss from Phineas, Phineas hits the Slop Drop and The Godwinns beat The Bodydonnas to win the WWF Tag Team Championships. Bearer says 'Taker is ready, and that Goldust has crossed a very fine line and that it is time for him to meet the Grim Reaper. The Undertaker is in the casket that Bearer has brough to the aisle, and The Undertaker tells Goldust that this will be his future, and that he will take it upon himself to seal his fate in this casket. Suddenly, Mankind closes the casket on The Undertaker and seals it with a leather strap as Goldust and Marlena show up to keep Paul Bearer away from The Undertaker. When Paul Bearer tries to untie the strap, Mankind comes back and smacks the casket with a steel pole before tumbling the casket over. Officials try to stop Mankind to no avail until he leaves, and The Undertaker is helped out of the casket as Goldust and Marlena come back.

Jim Cornette says "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels will not be on commentary for this match as Clarence Mason has a restraining order prevent Michaels from being within 100 yards of Diana Hart Smith between now and this Sunday. Suddenly, WWF President Gorilla Monsoon arrives and reads the restraining order, then tells Howard Finkel something. Howard Finkel then announces that the restraining order is valid and that Monsoon will comply by ordering that Diana Hart Smith leave the ringside area immediately. Cornette and Mason are livid, and Shawn shows up to guest on commentary for the next match as Diana Hart Smith leaves with Monsoon and Mason.

"The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels says once and for all that any allegations against him are false.

The show ends with Diana Hart Smith confronting "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels. Jim Cornette butts in and says "You wouldn't hit a woman, would you?" before Diana tosses a cup of water at Shawn. The four of them will be at the top of the Raddison Hotel tonight with double security, but he has one other order of business: Steve "Mongo" McMichael, whose wife Flair says he can't get out of his back pocket. Mongo shows up and confronts Flair, telling him he can cash a few checks on him just like Flair has done to him. Flair tells Mongo he's made a mistake tangling with him, and says that he has "The Enforcer" with him now, unlike last week. Flair challenges him to bring anybody he wants to a match against himself and Anderson. Mongo has that base covered: Kevin Greene, now of the Carolina Panthers, who wants to go right now, forcing Flair and company to flee as security keep the two sides apart. Mongo says that Kevin Greene is just part of his plan, and Greene tells Flair that he and Mongo are ready to go anytime, and tells Flair to bring his mouthpiece as it will be an all-day affair.

Diamond Dallas Page beats "Flyboy" Rocco Rock, "Earl" Robert Eaton, "Dirty" Dick Slater, Scott "Flash" Norton", Johnny Grunge, Ice Train and The Barbarian to win Battlebowl, become Lord of the Ring and earn a shot at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Even though he was the first eliminated, the ref did not see the elimination and therefore it did not count. When Eaton is eliminated, he attacks Col. Robert Parker, and Slater fights Eaton after he is eliminated soon after.
