Raw Deal - Raw recap for May 27, 1996

Goldust and THe Ultimate Warrior fight to a double count-out and neither man advances in the King of the Ring tournament. During the match, Vince McMahon apologizes for not delivering on three matches last night, and announces that there will be a special pay-per-view event tomorrow night at 8 PM Eastern and Pacific/7 PM Central where the three matches - Savio Vega vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in a Caribbean Strap match, Yokozuna vs. Vader and Goldust vs. The Undertaker for the WWF Intercontinental Championship in a casket match - will take place. Also, Goldust tries to retreat from the match, but Ahmed Johnson - who is scheduled to face Vader later tonight - tosses Goldust back into the ring before the commercial break. Before the match ends, however, Jerry "The King" Lawler tries to attack The Warrior with what is left of Marlena's director's chair when he says that Warrior is going after Marlena (as opposed to Goldust), but runs away when Warrior notices him.

We see footage of the storm near the arena on the night of In Your House: Beware of Dog, as well as the power going out and the Superstars having their matches in the dark. The power outage even makes the front page of the Florence Morning News in Florence, South Carolina.

"The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase says Savio Vega's victory in the dark last night was a fluke, and says Vega can't beat Austin even on his best day. DiBiase decides to "sweeten the pie" and proclaims that he is so confident that Austin will beat Vega, The Million Dollar Man himself will forfeit his WWF career and leave the World Wrestling Federation.

The Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart Gunn) show up to their match with Sunny as their manager.

Hillbilly Jim guests on commentary for the next match.

The Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart Gunn) beat The Bodydonnas (Skip and Zip) after Bart Gunn reverses a top rope cross body from Skip into a pinfall. During the match, Harvey Whippelman takes notes on the officiating of the match from the aisle. Also, Phineas I. Godwinn shows up and confronts Sunny, and Hillbilly Jim and Henry O. Godwinn have to keep him away from Sunny by taking Phineas to the back.

The rematch for the WWF Championship between The British Bulldog and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels is official for King of the Ring.

Owen Hart guests on commentary for the next match.

Vader beats Ahmed Johnson to advance to the second round of the King of the Ring tournament and hand Ahmed his first-ever loss. During the match, Jim Cornette tries to distract the referee, but Johnson tosses Cornette into the ring. Ahmed whips Cornette into Vader, then hits a spinebuster on Vader. Owen Hart runs to the top rope and hits Ahmed in the back with the cast on his arm, and Vader pins Ahmed for the three-count. After the match, it is realized that Ahmed Johnson is out cold.

Ahmed Johnson is carried to the back on a stretcher, as officials are unable to bring his back around. Goldust shows up and gives Ahmed mouth-to-mouth, but when AHmed comes to and sees the gold paint on his lips, he goes after Goldust. He pins Bob "Spark Plugg" Holly to the wall and asks "Wildman" Marc Mero where Goldust is, and when he finds Goldust's dressing room, thanks to Mero, he plows through the guy guarding it and through the door, finding that Goldust isn't there. He then punches out the cameraman before going further into the backstage area looking for Goldust.
