When asked what "Something" means, Jake Something says "Something" was a response to people saying he would never be anything, but he built himself up, and now he is something. When Gabby LaSpisa asks Jake if he feels like something, Jake Something feels as if he was mocked, then shows his irritation with Cody Deaner costing him last week's match. Cody Deaner shows up and says he should not be angry at the fans here, then mentions that they are cousins and that Jake is angry at people from his past, and that the people here are with him and that he is with him. Before the next match, Joe Hendry says tonight is a momentum occasion because for the first time, all of the champions are in the same match at the same time, and while it is exciting, it is also concerning, as it is the perfect site for an outbreak of "Hendry-Mania." He says that he has just gotten off the phone with the Surgeon General, and to control the symptoms, one must incessantly chant "We Believe."

Joe Hendry, "The Hollywood Hunk" Ryan Nemeth, Spitfire (Dani Luna and Jody Threat), Sami Callihan, Eric Young, Steph de Lander and "Broken" Matt Hardy beat The System (Eddie Edwards, Alisha Edwards, Brian Myers, Moose), Masha Slamovich, Laredo Kid, Mustafa Ali and Jordynne Grace in the sixteen-person Champions Challenge. Adam Copeland is about to head to the ring when he is attacked by Brody King and Buddy Matthews, with Malakai Black watching from not far behind. They get a metal folding chair, and Buddy and Brody hold Copeland down as Malakai says he does not care why Copeland maintains a facade of what he thinks he is, then tells Buddy to take Copeland's wedding ring. He and Buddy place chairs next to a downed Copeland when Kyle O'Reilly rushes in. O'Reilly fights off Malakai and Buddy, but he is clotheslined by Brody. Hook says he wants the spotlight on Jericho when he beats him for the FTW Championship tonight. Jericho says this is a teaching moment, not a fighting moment, and tells Hook that the world does not revolve around him and that he should be less selfish like him. Jericho says he and Big Bill are here to entertain everyone tonight, and tells Hook that he must work his way back up when he loses a championship and that he and a few others will have a qualifying match, and if Hook wins, he has the chance to face him again. Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Hook and Katsuyori Shibata. Hook says the odds could not mean less to him, and he will do what it takes to face Chris Jericho again. Shibata asks Hook if that means beating him, as he wants another shot at Jericho. Hook says that is fine by him, then Samoa Joe shows up and says he thought Hook was something special until Jericho had him at Shibata's neck, and tells him that if they would stop getting at each other throats, they would be dangerous in AEW. Hook tells Joe he will fight him, and Shibata says Joe is too large to be wearing a floral pattern.

He tells him that he has done the Tiger Driver '91 on people he has loved and respected and admits he has no respect for Roddy as Roddy has none for him. Roddy says Ospreay is right about that, as he is talented in the ring and an idiot out of it, and while Ospreay has a wife and child, he still acts like the same immature little boy. He says his neck injured, but he does not quit, and he does not care what people think of Ospreay because he knows Ospreay is a fraud. Ospreay says Roddy will learn a lesson after looking down at him for years when he shows him why he is on another level.

Renee Paquette moderates a contract signing between Mercedes Moné and Willow Nightingale for the TBS Championship at Double or Nothing. Mercedes arrives first, followed by Willow. Willow says she respects Mercedes and everything she has done in her career, but she wants to know if she respect the TBS Championship, which celebrates the legacy of professional wrestling over the last fifty years on a foundation built on fighting. She says that she is the face of TBS, and that "Nothing matters, smile anyway" means that her smile is her strength and that the TBS Championship matters, and she will not let Mercedes take the title from her. She then signs the contract. Mercedes says "Money changes everything" is a fact, not a catchphrase, as she was changing the game while Willow was still training and breaking glass ceilings as she made her way to the top. Mercedes tells Willow that she respects her and that she is a great champion, but there is a difference between being great and being the greatest of all time. She says that she is the new face of TBS, and while the best part of Willow's career was beating her, her loss to her at Double or Nothing will still be the best part of her career, as her legacy is all about winning. Mercedes signs the contract. Willow reminds Mercedes that she walked out as champion while Mercedes did not walk out at all last time they wrestled. Mercedes slaps Willow, starting a brawl, and Willow responds with a Doctor Bomb through the table.

He says that Wes' trials and tribulations prove that Wes has the heart of a lion and the spirit of a warrior, but he is an actual warrior that Wes cannot conquer. He tells Wes that if he wants a title shot, he must prove himself for an opportunity. Wes says Oba checks all the box of what a champion is supposed to look like, and as Wes says that he may not check as many boxes, Ivar shows up and says everyone is happy to have Wes back, including him, as he has been through a career-ending injury. Ivar says that when he came back, he had to fight for everything he got, and says that he knows Wes is not afraid to do the same. He says they both want a shot at Oba Femi before Josh Briggs shows up. He says that all he had to do was leave and have his moment with his wife, but he saw CM Punk and made him more important than anything else. Championship Gold - Championship Wrestling recap for May 12, 2024

Note: This episode is a re-airing of an interview with Adam Pearce from 2010.

The show starts with David Marquez interviewing NWA World Heavyweight Champion Adam Pearce. He says taht he grew up to be a hard worker and that those in the West Coast lack the kind of integrity that he does. He talks about how he found out about professional wrestling as a kid in the Mid-West and saw his first show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He says that he looked up to Jack Brisco, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Ricky Steamboat, Harley Race and Terry Funk on his way to becoming a professional wrestler. Pearce also talks about his first match at the age of 17 where he tagged with his trainers in a six-man tag match and that when the match start, it is "kill or be killed." He also says that he knew he would become an NWA World Heavyweight Champion as he knew that he was great from the get-go.

David Marquez interviews Adam Pearce about the tournament to crown a new NWA World Heavyweight Champion in 2006. Pearce says that when NWA was bringing their World Heavyweight title, he started petitioning to be part of the tournament. He also talks about his match with Brent Albright in Puerto Rico, and mentions how Bryan Danielson beat him in the semi-finals of the tournament only to be injured in a match in Japan, which brought him back to the tournament in the finals and back to being World Heavyweight Champion. On the subject of Danielson being special guest enforcer, he says that Danielson made the right call on that night despite wearing an eyepatch to protect his injured eye, and for the first time in his fifteen-year career, he had respect for Brent Albright in what would become a rivalry, although he will never be over Albright cementing his legacy at his expense to become World Heavyweight Champion.

We look back on Adam Pearce vs. Brent Albright for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in a bullrope match.

David Marquez continues to interview Adam Pearce. Pearce calls Philadelphia, Pennsylvania "a cesspool" and "a dump" full of "maniacs" who only like hardcore wrestling and that he had to head there to face Brent Albright in order to reclaim the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. He talks about how Shane Douglas threw down the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and became "champion of a toilet," and calls himself a real champion who put the title back on the pedestal it needed to be on. He calls Sean Waltman "a deadbeat" who calls himself a degenerate who has also ridden his coattails because he is not great and wants to taste greatness he will never taste. He calls Phil Shatter "a Neanderthal," and says that while Colt Cabana is talented, there is something off about someone who calls himself "Boom Boom." He calls Charlie Haas a technician and somebody he can respect, and says that while he is tough as nails, he did not get the job done, but tells him to come back for round two because he is a man. On the subject of Joey Ryan, he says that Joey Ryan only cares about what the fans think about him, and says that he would still be tag team champion and not coming after him if he was on the path he is supposed to be on.

We look back on the recent match from two months ago from So-Cal Pro Wrestling between Joey Ryan and Adam Pearce.

David Marquez interviews Adam Pearce regarding The Sheik. Adam Pearce says he knows very little about The Sheik and that his attack on him from behind during his NWA World Championship match with Phil Shatter was a black eye on professional wrestling as well as an injustice, and asks what kind of man would attack anybody like that. He says that he knows that The Sheik is watching and that he will take him beyond his limits, and says that he is not a man to be played with and that he can take things underground and not via the high road if necessary. As for what he looks for in this new television show, he hopes to introduce shining stars as well as veterans and legends to people's homes. He calls Scorpio Sky an unparalleled athlete and says he has all the tools except for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. As for who the rising star of 2010 will be, he says that is not up to him to decide. As for who he would love to face from the past or present, Pearce would face himself and see who would win in a match between Adam Pearce and Adam Pearce, even though he knows the winner would be Adam Pearce.

(With this match airing on TBS instead of TNT, this is the first time TBS has aired a wrestling match on a Saturday night since the end of WCW Saturday Night.) After the match, Danielson asks the fans to give a round of applause to Top Flight, saying that they are what AEW is all about. He says that the "AEW" chant at the start of the match warmed his heart before leading the fans into one. He also says that the first Anarchy In The Arena match almost ended his career, but he wants to be in the upcoming one so much because he loves AEW, and while The Elite (Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada, Jack Perry) are part of AEW's formation, they do not represent AEW anymore. Danielson states that founder and President Tony Khan has been at every show in AEW's history while The Elite, who help run the company, are not even here, then reiterates that he is in Anarchy In The Arena again because of what AEW represents and does. He also makes it very clear that he will do anything to protect AEW.

Swerve shows up and chokes Kaun from behind with a chain, and avoids Toa Liona. Brian Cage is able to catch Swerve out of the air, but Swerve escapes his grasp and lays him out before hitting Toa Liona with the Swerve Stomp off the apron. Bishop Kaun ends up being the recipient of another Swerve Stomp, much to the delight of the fans, before Swerve chokes him in the corner with the chain and tells him that he is coming for everything. Toa Liona soon barrels towards Swerve and tackles him, then tells Prince Nana that what he is going to do to Swerve will be his fault. He rushes halfway around the ring to hit Swerve again, but Swerve hits him with a cinder block. Brian Cage watches as Swerve presses Toa Liona's head on the top of the ring steps and smashes his head with a metal folding chair.

Backstage, Swerve Strickland says he tries to be the company guy and what AEW wants him to be, but people have told him that he has gotten soft since becoming AEW World Champion, including his own people. In backstage footage from after this week's Dynamite, "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada challenges Dax Harwood to a match next week, and Jack Perry says that all of his Anarchy In The Arena opponents are dead. All of a sudden, as The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson) speak, they stop Christopher Daniels, and Matthew chews him out only for Daniels to yell back and threaten to beat his ass if he speaks to him like a lackey again.

Backstage, Christopher Daniels says he has not forgotten the sacrifices he has made for his success and where he has come from, but The Elite (Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada, Jack Perry) has. He says he has been with AEW since day one and helped make AEW what it is, but now The Elite want to make AEW about themselves. He says The Young Bucks tried to start a riot, but after he did his job to stop, they talked down to him. He says he will not back down and cower when they speak, but now they are punishing him with a tag team much. He picks Matt Sydal as his tag team partner, and when the bell rings, his heart, not his badge, will be in play, and The Elite's titles will not matter when they get punished.

Hook tells Jericho he does not know who or what he can be, and that he cannot wait to show him.

Michael calls Van Viciouss "a white liver, no-good, yellow bellied coward," and Van Vicouss dares him to say it again. He says that The System runs on gold and is an absolute dynasty. Moose says he has played on a lot of great teams and that The System is "the greatest team of all time." He says they are not the 1996 Chicago Bulls, for they are far greater than them, and if no one believes them, they can ask "The Wanted Man" Nic Nemeth and "Broken" Matt Hardy, as they ran them off like the 1992 Dream Team did to Croatia. Eddie says their reputations speak for themselves and that they walked in as champions, and after nearly a decade, Alisha realized her potential, picked her spot and became a world champion. He says that Alisha stands above everyone in the Knockouts Division and is the greatest TNA Knockout of all time, then Alisha thanks Eddie before saying she wants to put a little more flare on the celebration. She then presents a video package of The System that she made herself, but the video package is interrupted by Matt Hardy, who shows up with a metal folding chair. Hardy congratulates The System on winning the battle at Under Siege, but says the war is far from over and that nothing will deter him from procuring the World Championship. Hardy calls Under Siege "a lesson" after pledging to break The System, and that he now understands The System a little better and knows what he has to do to make them obsolete. He tells Moose that this is not over, and that this is merely the beginning before mentioning The System's accolades and asking to see Moose's Super Bowl ring (which does not exist). Alisha says nobody can understand what Matt Hardy is saying, but he calls her "a snow witch" and tells her not to get on Reby Sky's radar. Moose tells Matt Hardy that there is four of The System and only one of him, then Matt Hardy says he does not like their odds and hits eveyrone with the metal folding chair. Alisha tries to hit Matt Hardy with a shinai only for Matt to block it, but that allows Eddie, Myers and Moose to gang up on him and wrap a chair around his neck in the corner. All of a sudden, Ryan Nemeth shows up with a shinai and attacks The System before they can injure Matt Hardy like they did Nic Nemeth, and The System is forced to retreat. The cheerleaders then side with Matt Hardy and perform the "delete" hand signal.

He gives the fans the choice between a standard tag team match or an "Albany Tornado Tag Match" with no count-outs. The fans pick the tornado tag match.

The Rascalz (Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz) beat Jake Something and Cody Deaner in an Albany Tornado Tag Match after Trey Miguel sprays Jake Something in the eyes with spray paint on the outside before he and Wentz double team Cody Deaner for the win. After the match, The Rascalz are attacked from behind and laid out by Steve Maclin. Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Steve Maclin. He says that The Rascalz walked out on him twice, so he took them out twice. When Frankie Kazarian says that this unfinished business was the reason he and Maclin lost their recent tag match, Kazarian and Maclin argue, and they end up going their separate ways.

We see Tom Hennifan's interview with Mike Santana. Santana says he could not have picked a better time to come home, and says that being in The Latin-American Xchange (Santana, Ortiz, Konnan) and winning four tag titles was like a shotgun blast going off and that Konnan's mentorship meant a lot. He says that LAX accomplished a lot of things after they were thrown into the ocean after cutting their teeth on the independents. Santana then talks about his five years away from TNA. He talks about how he lost his father just before the pandemic happened and that a lot of things had to change, and some unsolved problems came up and he had to deal with them. Santana also talks about going sober a year ago, saying he had to save his own life.

Ash By Elegance heads to the ring, and Gabby wants to know why Ash By Elegance by Ash By Elegance and what elegance means. Ash says Elegance is a lifestyle brand and is surprised that Gabby has never heard of the brand. Ash calls the interview "classless" after George Iceman says that Gabby is from New Jersey and threatens to leave, then Gabby brings up Ash's post-match attack on Havok at Under Siege. Gabby also brings up Ash's loss to Xia Brookside from two week ago, and George Iceman says it is all camera trickery. Ash says the referee stole her jewelry, but Gabby says she can get it back if she can beat Xia Brookside. Xia proposes a rematch next week for Ash's rings that she tried to use as knuckles, and Ash reluctantly shakes her hand and accepts.

We see Joe Hendry in a Heart Radio interview, where Hendry talks about his entrance theme hitting the UK pop chart as well as wrestling in TNA.

Director of Authority Santino Marella announces the Champions Challenge, where all eight TNA champions face a team of all-stars. All eight champions (Moose, Mustafa Ali, Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers, Jordynne Grace, Alisha Edwards, Masha Slamovich, Laredo Kid) will face Matt Hardy, Steph de Lander, Sami Callihan, Spitfire (Jody Threat and Dani Luna), Ryan Nemeth (who replaces "The Wanted Man" Nic Nemeth), Eric Young and Joe Hendry in an 8-on-8 tag match.

Kenny then challenges The Elite (Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada, Jack Perry) to Anarchy In The Arena, and announces that FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) will be the first two members of his team and that the other two will reveal themselves sooner than The Elite think.

Tony Schiavone interviews Serena Deeb on the stage. Serena says that she is aware everyone loves "Timeless" Toni Storm and is aware that people think she will not win, and says it is important to make it known that losing at Double or Nothing is not an option. She talks about her return to the ring earlier this year after fifteen months on the shelf following three unprovoked seizures, which she calls "a scary, traumatizing experience" as she did not know what caused them. Serena says the vision of becoming AEW Women's World Championship has been stuck in her mind, and as she is about to mention what it would be like to be world champion, Toni Storm shows up. Toni says that all she has heard is a charity case, and Serena tells Toni to start giving a shit and start taking this seriously, as she has fought for her life and will do it again to become AEW Women's World Champion. He says he has to kill this facade and bring Copeland to the brink of death so that he will live again.

We see a video package for The Elite (Matthew Jackson, Nicholas Jackson, "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada, Jack Perry) and their mission to change the world. We then see The Young Bucks (Matthew and Nicholas Jackson) backstage, saying they need more Elite video packages and less Kenny Omega updates. Swerve calls Christian out so that they can have their conversation right now, and The Patriarchy (Christian Cage, Killswitch, "The Prodigy" Nick Wayne, Mama Wayne) shows up. Christian says there will be no championship in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada when the Edmonton Oilers lose tonight, then says that The Patriarchy's actions are by design and that he will take something from Swerve until he takes what he wants. He says Swerve has rode a wave of momentum to the World Championship, but waves crash and his wave will crash at his feet, for Swerve is not in his league and he deserves to stand at the top of the mountain as World Champion. Christian says that Swerve can take comfort that he can see gold whenever he wants and look at his teeth when his house has been foreclosed on, unless he takes those from him right now. Swerve tells Christian he did not come alone, then The Mogul Embassy (Bishop Kaun, Toa Liona, "The Machine" Brian Cage) shows up from behind Swerve, and dares Christian to get in the ring so he can beat him down like Kendrick Lamar beat Drake. Swerve says he has gotten knocked down and stood right back up to become World Champion, then says Christian will not get in the ring because it will put him in an uncomfortable position and say "I Quit." Christian seems to say nothing at first, but Swerve is soon attacked from behind by The Mogul Embassy. When referees get in the ring, The Mogul Embassy forces them to retreat. After Swerve is tossed out of the ring, The Mogul Embassy then put Swerve through the announce table.

He says that the FTW Championship is for all the fans, then thanks the fans and thanks Big Bill for a good job tonight. He thanks Katsuyori Shibata for giving him a good fight for the FTW Championship and thanks Hook before telling him to take as long as he needs before facing him again. Tony Schiavone then gets in the ring and tells Jericho that Hook will be back next week. Jericho says that he and Hook will celebrate next week on Dynamite together before thanking the fans.

Matthew questions Kenny Omega ending their friendship, and Nicholas says FTR only saved Kenny because they hate them before accepting the challenge for Anarchy In The Arena and wishing Kenny luck finding two other people who want to face them. FTR show up, and Dax Harwood says that after a little bit of convincing, he has found two men with big enough balls for the job: Eddie Kingston and "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson. A now complete Team AEW confronts The Elite before both sides brawl, with security, officials and the locker room trying to break things up to end the show.
