Raw Deal - Raw recap for January 31, 2022

WWE official Adam Pearce is in the ring to start tonight's show. He announces that in three weeks at Elimination Chamber, Bobby Lashley will step into the Elimination Chamber with the WWE Championship on the line. Before Adam Pearce can announce the competitors, MVP and Lashley show up. MVP says that Lashley has proven his superiority and that Pearce wants to send Lashley back to hell, saying that is not fair, that the odds are against Lashley and that what Pearce is doing is wrong. Lashley asks Pearce who the hell he thinks he is, as he says he should be celebrating the fact that he beat Brock Lesnar, as he always knew that he was always better than him. He says that he is "The Beast," "The Conqueror" and the champion now, then Lesnar shows up. Lesnar tells MVP to shut up before he sticks his cane up his ass, then asks Lashley if he is going to stand there and act like he is the champion when he only beat him because of Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman. He also tells Lashley that he is not mad at him and that he is mad at Roman and Heyman, and that after their match, he took it upon himself to enter the men's Royal Rumble match and won. Because of that, he gets to choose who he fights at WrestleMania, and that it will be Roman Reigns, not Lashley, that he faces. He also says that when it happens, it will be title vs. title, because he is dressed to fight. Lesnar says that because he is dressed to fight, he is challenging Lashley to a championship rematch tonight. He asks Lashley if he is going to let MVP hold him back, then MVP tells Lesnar to go to the end of the line and earn his title shot. Lesnar then tells Lashley that he is nothing but "a chickenshit," then Lashley stares at Lesnar before leaving with MVP. Adam Pearce then announces that one of the five Superstars that Lashley will defend the WWE Championship against at Elimination Chamber will be none other than Brock Lesnar. MVP is livid.

Rhea Ripley beats Nikki A.S.H.

Backstage, Kevin Patrick is the announcer for the scooter race between Chad Gable and Matt Riddle. Gable says it is a joke that a scooter race has been added to an academic competition and that the spelling bee was rigged. It is announced that the first person to make fifty laps around the arena and make it to the ring first is the winner. Gable brags about his full-body suit that makes his more aerodynamic, then R-Truth starts the race.

We see Alexa Bliss with the therapist again. Alexa says that Lilly has always been real to her and has always been there for her. When asked what it would be like if Lilly were to return, Alexa says it would be much like before. The therapist pulls out a replica of Lilly, but Alexa becomes attached to the replica.

The Miz beats Dominik Mysterio after pretending to trip and blaming it on Rey Mysterio in order to get Rey ejected. This distracts Dominik, which allows Miz to hit the Skull Crushing Finale for the win.

Backstage, Dana Brooke is surprised by Tamina and manages to fend her off as Matt Riddle and Chad Gable are on Lap 18 of their scooter race.

Backstage, Matt Riddle is distracted by Omos on Lap 25 of the scooter race.

It's time for The Kevin Owens Show, now known as "The KO Show." He says the last few nights have been exciting and that the following weeks will be even more exciting, then says he will be in the Elimination Chamber match for the WWE Championship when he beats Austin Theory. He then introduces his guest, whom he says should be standing in the ring as Universal Champion: Seth "Freakin'" Rollins. After a replay of Seth Rollins' match against Roman Reigns from Royal Rumble is replayed, Owens says what Roman did was disgusting because he knew Roman would beat him, and says Rollins is the Universal Champion of his heart. Rollins says he may not be the Universal Championship, but he achieved something greater: a permanent piece of real estate in Roman Reigns' head. He then says he can go back whenever he wants to get the Universal title. Rollins then announces that he is in the Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Championship, having qualified from Royal Rumble. Owens then says he has an idea for Rollins: tell Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville to put him in the match or else Rollins walks. Austin Theory then shows up for the next match before Seth Rollins can act on the idea.

Austin Theory beats Kevin Owens to qualify for the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match after escaping the ring apron powerbomb and kicking the middle rope into Owens' crotch to hit the ATL for the win.

Backstage, The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) provide refreshments for Matt Riddle - but not for Chad Gable - during Lap 39 of the Scooter Race. Otis comes to the rescue, but Gable finds out that the cup is full of steak sauce.

Angelo Dawkins beats Dolph Ziggler.

Backstage, Matt Riddle hits Chad Gable with cotton candy in Lap 49 of the scooter race.

Veer Mahaan says he has been watching, waiting and biding his time. He says that the hunter has spotted his prey, and that he is now waiting to strike. Veer Mahaan is coming to Raw.

Kevin Patrick interviews R-Truth at the finish line. When asked who will win, R-Truth says "The Bengals." Matt Riddle and Chad Gable make it down the ramp, but Chad Gable trips. Riddle is about to reach the finish line when he is tackled by Otis. Gable gets back up and rides a circle around Riddle before crossing the finish line. Riddle says Gable and Otis ruined the integrity of the race by cheating, and Gable says he has never cheated in his life before saying that Riddle is asking for a match. He then says that he has his match, but it will be with Otis.

A new season of Miz & Mrs. will air in June.

Before the next match, WWE official Adam Pearce announces that Matt Riddle vs. Otis is an Elimination Chamber qualifying match and that the winner will be added to the WWE Championship Eliminator Championship Match at Elimination Chamber.

Matt Riddle beats Otis to qualify for the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match with a Floating Bro followed by a jackknife pin.

Bianca Belair beats Carmella.

Back at the therapist's office, Alexa Bliss is still transfixed by the replica Lilly. When the replica is handed to Alexa, Alexa is still in a state of bliss. (Pun not intended.)

Backstage, Kevin Patrick interviews Alpha Academy (Chad Gable and Otis). Gable laughs, and says that he has chosen a doozy of a challenge next week: a quiz bowl. He says that when RK-Bro (Matt Riddle and Randy Orton) lose the quiz bowl much like the Cincinnati Bengals will lose the Super Bowl, they will kiss their tag team title shot goodbye.

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles beats Rey Mysterio to qualify for the WWE Championship Elimination Chamber Match.

"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey heads to the ring. Ronda says she has been debating whose title she wants to take at WrestleMania. She debates it some more in the ring while saying that both Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch are both beneath her. She says that regardless of who she chooses, everyone will know "the baddest big time bitch" is her. Becky Lynch shows up and says she missed Ronda and that she is glad that Ronda hasn't changed, then says Ronda loses credibility by saying Becky is on her undercard when she was the only one to beat her. She then says that she would not blame Ronda if she wanted to take on Charlotte as an appetizer, but if Ronda wants her as meat and potatoes, she is all game. Becky then wants to know who Ronda will face. Becky then grabs Becky by the arm, takes the microphone from her hand, and tells her that she will have her answer on Friday. As Ronda leaves, Becky says that Ronda fears her and that she either would not want to face her or wants to get out of town as much as she does. Suddenly, Lita shows up and butters Becky up, then says she respects her for being a fighting champion. Becky says she sees where this is going, and Lita challenges her to a match at Elimination Chamber. Becky refuses, but Lita tells Becky to say she is scared if she is scared. Becky tells Lita she has her match.

She then says that she will change the game again when she wins the match and picks a challenger for WrestleMania, then "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler shows up. Roman says it was a simple decision of letting Rollins embarrass the family by pinning The Usos or punching Rollins in the face, then says that he is in "God Mode" now. Seth then talks about how he cashed the Money In The Bank briefcase on him or beating Roman, sent him packing for thirty days after coming back from injury and turned on him to break up The Shield (Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns). Roman calls the first two things "water under the bridge," but the third one visibly gets under Roman's skin, and Rollins says that when he put the chair in his back, he did it for his own good and knew it would rocket him to superstardom. Seth then says that Roman has done it all except beat him when it matters most, and tomorrow night, it will not be personal when he beats him for the Universal Championship, because he will always love him. Roman says he tried to forgive Seth for destroying The Shield, then says he will never forgive what Seth did to them and says that he hates him, and Rollins says he will hate him even more when he makes him and his family a joke and makes it all end up in smoke. Roman shoves Seth, and Seth laughs before Roman feigns walking away only to go for a Superman Punch. Seth ducks it, then prances away to end the show.

Mickie then says she is honored to be in the Royal Rumble as Knockouts Champion. Mickie James says she is in it to win and plans to not only win, but put the Impact Knockouts Championship on the line in a title vs. title match to see who the best in the world is if she does. He also says it is not made of strong material because he found out it was made in Long Island, New York, then says that he wants MJF tonight. He then says that if he calls out MJF now, he will come out in a cheap suit with a load of excuses. MJF says the "CM Punk" will not stop Punk from turning his back on the fans again and whining about it on a podcast. Punk says MJF only listens to his podcast because he is a fan, and says leaving and coming back is the best thing he ever did. Punk tells MJF to lace up his boots and face him, and says that MJF cannot realize that his heroes are human beings and that he would rather be himself and fail than be like MJF, talk a big game and never show up. He says that he has made decisions and that he has stood by them, and that the fans love him because he gets back up, tries and fight just like Cleveland and Chicago do. MJF decides to test that by bringing out FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) and Wardlow. Suddenly, Punk is attacked from behind by Shawn Spears, and the numbers game takes over, with FTR holding Punk down so Spears can hit him with a chair. Tony Schiavone introduces Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. to the ring. Britt Baker says it has been a while since she has been in Cleveland, Ohio and a little while since she has been in the ring with a microphone, which she says is acclimated to her because CM Punk and MJF could not keep her name out of their mouths. She then mentions her Pro Wrestling Illustrated awards from 2021 and says that since she has won the AEW Women's World Championship, she has had nine singles victories. Britt then says that the women's division was a wasteland and that she turned it into a "Brittopia" when nobody else did, saying that she created the top spot and surpassed the entire roster to become the face of AEW. She says that she has made history since she got here while mocking the Cleveland Browns before saying she is here for the fans and that she will not settle until she becomes Female of the Decade, saying Cleveland has a Baker that they can count on.

Jungle Boy says Billy Gunn has been salty since he met him, and that The Gunn Club (Billy, Austin and Colten Gunn) crossed a line when they attacked Christian Cage and proved they are entitled and sour as Billy is. He says that when Christian Cage comes back, Jurassic Express will stomp The Gunn Club's heads into the ground.

He announces that next week, he and Bodhi Hayward will take on Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, but tonight, Hayward will make a statement when he takes on James Drake. He then tells the rest of the teams in the men's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic that this is a teachable moment. Suddenly, Zack Gibson shows up with James Drake and says that they have been world-travelled for sixteen years and that they know every trick there is, and that Bodhi Hayward cannot learn like they have in a classroom.

James Drake beats Bodhi Hayward following the distraction from Zack Gibson.
