Backstage, Tommaso Ciampa is met by "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles. Both men wish each other luck later tonight.
The Men's and Women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic return in two weeks and in February, respectively.
"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles heads to the ring. Styles thanks the crowd for their support tonight, then says he has some regrets. He says that when he started in WWE, he never went to NXT, and he says there is something special in NXT: passion. He says that the passion that the fans and the Superstars have for each other makes NXT go 'round, and he says he will be damned if he lets someone like Grayson Waller take that passion away. As he says that there is always one person who thinks that they are bigger than a place like NXT they should respect and that Waller is it, Waller shows up. Waller says Styles is tugging at everyone's hearts tonight, saying it is a phenomenal distraction from the fact that Omos crushed him last night and that he does not buy what Styles is saying, saying Styles lost because he was thinking about him. Waller also says he is living in Styles' head rent-free and that he wasn't at Raw so that Styles could not blame him for the loss. Styles admits Waller has a point, saying he is not 100%, then says they can go right now. Waller says they will do this on his time, not Styles', but Styles tells him to "grow a sack" and do something. Waller teases facing him, but says he needs the spotlight of next week's main event to get the biggest win of his career. Styles says it will be Waller's biggest embarrassment of his career, and when Waller goes for a cheap shot, both of them brawl before Waller gets the upper hand. Styles soon answers with a Pele Kick. He then goes for a Phenomenal Forearm, but Waller rolls out of the ring.
We hear from Pete Dunne, who tells Tony D'Angelo that he poked the bear and that it does not end here, saying this is just the beginning and that he will rip his arm out of its socket and stomp his mouth shut for good. He also tells D'Angelo to bring the crowbar with him, because he is going to need it.
Amari Miller meets with Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter. As Kacy and Kayden say they plan on becoming tag team champions, Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta say they want the women's tag titles, too. Persia and Indi almost team with Tiffany Stratton, but Tiffany is not interested, and as she walks away, the woman in the pajamas and eye cover is revealed to be behind. Persia and Indi find out her name is Wendy Choo, and Wendy asks them why they are looking at her like a ham sandwich.
Matt Riddle and MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee) beat Imperium (Walter, Fabian Aichner, Marcel Barthel).
Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Joe Gacy and Harland. Gacy says Harland has been working with coming to grips about how people have treated him in the past and has shown more progress and more restraint than before. He says that if he and Harland were to be in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, it would bring them peace, joy and happiness, and he also wants to prove they are a viable tag team and can earn their way in.
We see Mandy Rose arrive to the arena in a helicopter.
Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Elektra Lopez, who says that she joined Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Raul Mendoza, Elektra Lopez) because Santos Escobar knew she was a difference maker. She says that while family comes first, Xyon Quinn caught her eye and made her see things a little differently, and that she is attracted to success and does not apologize for that. She then says that there will be a match between Escobar and Quinn next week, and the winner leaves with her.
Mandy Rose retains the NXT Women's Championship against Cora Jade and Raquel Gonzalez after reversing a schoolkid pin from Cora Jade with a sit-down pinfall attempt.
We see Boa. He says the powers are uncontrollable and cannot be contained, and that he must face Solo Sikoa by himself. Suddenly, he sees an image of his face in facepaint as he continues to wash his face in water.
Outside of the arena, Riddle rides off on his scooter after saying goodbye to MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee) for now, then The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) show up and says that MSK will not get another shot against Imperium again now that they are going for the Dusty Cup.
Andre Chase heads to the ring. Chase says last week was a teachable moment, as he says that he was in deep trouble and that one of his student risked life and limb to protect him. He says that is the kind of bond Chase University has between the student body and faculty. Chase says he is grateful that Harland did not follow through on throwing that student off the top of the building, as it would have been terrible for enrollment. He then decides to recognize this student, who is then seen in the crowd. Chase awards this student the first-ever Chase University full scholarship, then Von Wagner shows up and says "Enough with the bullshit" before getting in the ring. Von Wagner says he hears the boos and negative comments, but when he is in the ring, he is suddenly everybody's favorite new Superstar and wants to tune into the "Von Wagner watch party" to see who he tunes out next. Von Wagner says he wants to be liked only by the people who matter, which does not include the fans, as he is everything they are not. He then attacks Chase when Chase interrupts him. Suddenly, the student that Chase mentioned earlier gets Von Wagner's attention. Von Wagner throws his flag before throwing him, then he puts his hand on another fan and throws him over the barricade before security forces him to the back.
Backstage, Von Wagner is escorted out of the building through the training room, where Roderick Strong is being tended to.
We hear from Cameron Grimes, who talks about his 2021. He says that he should make his own legacy and go from "chasing green" to chasing gold.
Before the next match, Bron Breakker - now in a darker-colored singlet than usual - is seen pulling off chains before breaking a big gold "X" that looks like the X from the old NXT logo and theme. When Tommaso Ciampa shows up, he wears a multi-colored set of wrestling gear much like that of NXT's new logo and theme.
Bron Breakker beats Tommaso Ciampa with the Steiner Recliner in a commercial-free match to win the NXT Championship!
Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
