Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for January 13, 2022

Black Taurus beats "The Drama King" Matthew Rehwoldt in the BTI match.

Backstage, W. Morrissey is seen looking for Moose, and he heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Morrissey calls Moose out, and when Moose does not show up immediately, Morrissey says he had Moose beaten for a ten-count, then says Moose calls himself the best world champion when he practically stole the title and now wants to hide from him. Morrissey tells Moose to have the balls to face somebody man-to-man for once in his life, then says he will not stop until Moose gives him a world title shot, and tells Moose to give him a match tonight unless he wants to keep looking over his shoulder. Moose shows up on the video screen and says he stated he would prove why he was the best world champion at Hard To Kill and that he did just that, then says that having him beaten did not mean Morrissey did not beat him. Moose then says there will be a world title match, but Morrissey will not be in it; he says somebody else who has never had a title opportunity will get it instead. Moose then tells Morrissey to sit back and watch him in action. Morrissey says he has a feeling Moose will not make it to his world title match tonight, then heads to the back. Backstage, Scott D'Amore meets with Morrissey and says that Moose's world title match is official. Morrissey says he is the only person who will get a world title match, but D'Amore tells him he will not interfere in the match. Suddenly, it is revealed that Matt Taven, Maria Kanellis-Bennett and Vincent have taken over the commentary table, and when D'Lo Brown punches Vincent, Mike Bennett jumps over the guardrail and double-teams him with Vincent. Referees and security show up to check on D'Lo and force the invaders from Ring of Honor to the back.

Tom Hannifan announces that he will doing commentary solo tonight now that D'Lo Brown has been attacked.

We see a video package for Ring of Honor Women's World Champion Rok-C.

Trey Miguel guests on commentary for the next match.

Laredo Kid beats Chris Bey.

Backstage, Eddie Edwards, Rich Swann, Willie Mack, Rhino and Heath meet. Swann says that what happened to D'Lo Brown was wrong, and Heath says the invaders from Ring of Honor took their moment. Eddie says they should split up and get them before they get someone else. Willie Mack is concerned one of them could be ganged up by the whole group, but Rhino says there is no time to waste and that they need to strike.

Backstage, Brian Myers tells "Outlandish" Zicky Dice and VSK to shape up or get cut. Zicky says it would make for a good comeback if he became Impact World Champion, then gets a huge pizza from a local pizza place delivered to him.

"Inevitable" Ace Austin and Madman Fulton guest on commentary for the next match.

"Speedball" Mike Bailey beats Jake Something.

Backstage, The Good Brothers ("The Big LG" Doc Gallows and "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson) and Violent By Design (Eric Young, Joe Doering, Deaner) meet. Anderson says they made a partnership for Hard To Kill, but they did not get the job done and asks why they are still working together. Eric Young says he is thinking about the future, and says their business arrangement could lead to something good. Suddenly, they see Rhino on the ground, and they all attack him.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Matt Cardona and Chelsea Green. Cardona says he realizes how rare an opportunity for the world title is, then says he has to stay ready and make his own luck and opportunities. Chelsea says Cardona could and should have won and says the same about her match. As she says that she let victory slip through her fingers, Tasha Steelz and Samantha Evans show up and tell Gia Miller to leave, then Tasha says she "snatched that ish" and became #1 contender because she does things by any means necessary. She says it is a good thing that Chelsea lost so that she wouldn't have to deal with a title unbalance, but Chelsea challenges her to a mixed title match. When Tasha tries to get away, Chelsea shoves her back into the chair and tells her to think about it.

Masha Slamovich beats Vertvixen.

"The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander heads to the ring. Alexander has said that he has heard that he needs to keep his emotions in check and that he will get his world title match only if he can do so. He says that he has faced Minoru Suzuki and Jonah and has been battered and bruised, but he has never lost focus. He says that what Moose did to him in the ring in front of his wife and child is burned into his mind forever, that he knows what it feels like to have the world title in his hands, and that he is the uncrowned champion until Moose beats him. Alexander says that Moose has no problem handing world title shots to anyone who asks, but he knows that Moose is avoiding the one true challenge in this company, and that if Moose can get in the ring and wrestle tonight, he will only do so when he goes through him. He says that if he cannot get his title shot, then he should think about whether Impact is the right place to be himself. Suddenly, Charlie Haas shows up. Haas introduces himself to Alexander and the fans, then says Alexander is "one hell of a wrestler" and has learned the craft as he states that they have a lot in common. He says Alexander is the pinnacle while he himself has a lot left in the tank, then challenges him to a match. Alexander says it would be an honor to step in the ring with him, but he needs the world title match first. He says that he had obstacles and excuses have been placed in front of him, and that Haas would be an obstacle in his way. Haas then says that Alexander would be an obstacle in his way and punches him, starting a brawl. The brawl is quickly stopped by security, and as Haas leaves, Alexander tells him that if he wants this match, he has it, for he is not afraid of a fight.

Backstage, Mickie James welcomes Rok-C to the Impact locker room and tells her that she has been doing a good job. Rok-C congratulates Mickie on her match with Deonna Purrazzo, and Mickie tells Rok-C she has a chance to make history tonight. Mickie warns Rok-C that Deonna is not only one of the best women she has face, but one of the toughest, and that she is not afraid to go to any level. She tells Rok-C to bring her best and more.

Brian Myers guests on commentary for the next match.

Moose retains the Impact World Championship against "Outlandish" Zicky Dice with one slam. After the match, W. Morrissey shows up and brawls with Moose. Zicky Dice gets back up and eats a big boot from Morrissey, and VSK checks on Zicky Dice as Moose runs away. Morrissey holds up the Impact World Championship, then looks at VSK as Moose approaches the ring to take the title back before ultimately chokeslamming VSK. Morrissey then looks for Moose in the back, but finds Moose speeding off in a car outside.

Scott D'Amore guests on commentary for the next match. He states that while Jonathan Gresham and Rok-C are here are representatives of Ring of Honor, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, Maria Kanellis-Bennett, PCO and Vincent are here as renegades.

Before the next match, Raj Singh says he stands in the ring as a Punjabi warrior and a Desi representing his people, and yet he deals with disrespect after disrespect. He says this will change now and demands an opponent, and he gets Jonah.

Jonah beats Raj Singh.

Backstage, we hear from The Influence (Tennille Dashwood, Madison Rayne, Kaleb with a K). They mock The IInspiration (Jessica McKay and Cassie Lee) for "taking a vacation from work" and come up with a strategy to beat them when Rosemary and Havok shows up to challenge them to a match next week. Suddenly, it is revealed that Eddie Edwards has been attacked backstage.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Jonathan Gresham. Gresham says he does not know what the renegades from ROH are doing, then says there is a war for the identity of ROH and that he is happy that the pure wrestlers have won and have upheld honor at all costs. Steve Maclin says that he finds that hard to believe when Gresham has nothing to do with the mayhem everyone else has to offer, then says he is turning his back on ROH and that one does not turn his back on one's brothers. Gresham takes offense to Maclin questioning his honor and proposes that they have a match, then says he will meet with Ring of Honor management and make the match a Pure Rules Match for the ROH World Championship.

Before the next match, Ian Riccaboni apologizes on behalf of Ring of Honor over what has happened to D'Lo Brown as well as the backstage attacks as he guests on commentary for the next match. When the entrances for the next match take place, "The Drama King" Matthew Rehwoldt guests on commentary as well.

Deonna Purrazzo beats Rok-C with the Venus De Milo to retain the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship and win the ROH Women's World Championship in a Winner Take All match. After the match, Maria Kanellis-Bennett shows up and meets with Deonna, but Deonna tells her to go away. She is soon surrounded by the rest of the renegades (Mike Bennett, Matt Taven, Vincent, PCO), and when "The Drama King" Matthew Rehwoldt stands up for Deonna, he is ganged up on and attacked. Rich Swann and Willie Mack show up to make the save, but the numbers game takes over to end the show.
