Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for January 5, 2022

"Hangman" Adam Page retains the AEW World Championship against Bryan Danielson after finally hitting the Buckshot Lariat. Paul Wight, Jerry Lynn and Mark Henry were the judges in case of another time limit draw.

We hear from The Acclaimed ("Platinum" Max Caster and Anthony Bowens). Max Caster says Anthony Bowens had Darby Allin beat, but Sting had to get involved. Bowens says they are not done with Darby yet, and next week, Max Caster will premiere a music video about this.

"The Captain" Shawn Dean beats MJF by disqualification. Right after the match begins, CM Punk runs into the ring and chases MJF out. Punk then hits Shawn Dean with the GTS, giving the win to Shawn Dean via disqualification and breaking MJF's singles match win streak of 15 wins. Punk says this will keep happening until MJF gets in the ring with him. MJF says everything Punk says is fake and induces boredom, and says that while Punk has the fans convinced he is a big deal, Punk is nothing without him. MJF says he puts a chip on Punk's shoulder and makes him relevant, and that Punk is not the savior that the fans have been waiting for like he is. After asking if Punk thinks he is like "Rowdy" Roddy Piper despite not main eventing a WrestleMania, MJF says that if he does not get respect around here, he will main event one, too. Punk laughs and says all he is trying to do is kick MJF's ass and give him the beating he deserves, then dares him to go to WWE and main event a "buy four, get one free special" before getting released. MJF then gets angry with Punk and puts him in a match next week with Wardlow. As the fans chant "bullshit," Punk says the different between, MJF and Piper is that he and Piper would fight anyone while MJF would run out of people to hide behind and get put to sleep.

Chris Jericho heads to the ring in his first appearance on TBS since April 7, 1999 (where he lost to Booker T on Thunder). Jericho says it is great to be back after 2point0 (Jeff Parker and Matt Lee) hit him with a chair six weeks ago and really put him down, and says he ran into the ring to get revenge. Suddenly, 2point0 shows up. 2point0 welcome him back, and Jericho introduces them as "Terrence and Phillip." Matt Lee says they gave Jericho a taste of a chair last time they met, but Jericho says Lee has a square head. Parker tells Jericho to shut up and stop calling Lee a "square head," but Jericho says Parker looks more like "a pinhead." Jericho alternates between the two chants, upsetting 2point0. Jericho then grabs Floyd the baseball bat and gets ready to swing, and when Daniel Garcia comes out of the crowd, he gets hit with the bat. Garcia and 2point0 gang up on Jericho, but Santana, Ortiz and Eddie Kingston run in and make the save.

It is announced that Jake Atlas has been signed to All Elite Wrestling.

We hear from Adam Cole, Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly. Cole says they kicked Orange Cassidy's ass, and while O'Reilly accidentally kicked him in the face, it was no accident when The Young Bucks checked on them. Adam Cole then proposes a match with Jake Atlas next week in order to send a message to anyone who wants to take them on.

Wardlow beats Antonio Zambrano after Shawn Spears attacks Zambrano with a C4 on the outside before the bell rings. Wardlow finishes the job with five powerbombs.

Jade Cargill beats Ruby Soho with an avalanche Jaded to become the inaugural TBS Champion and win the TBS Title Tournament as her husband and daughter watch from the crowd. During the match, Mercedes Martinez shows up to yell at a hurt Ruby Soho, but Thunder Rosa runs in and brawls with Martinez. Later on, "Smart" Mark Sterling gets on the apron and gets ejected from ringside for it.

We see Jim Ross interviews Serena Deeb. Serena says she wanted respect and to wrestle civilized matches, but Hikaru Shida got fluke victories, and now it is about claiming her spot at the top where she belongs. She says there is no woman on her level, and that she is "The Professor of Professional Wrestling" because she has "a Ph.D in this shit" and paid enough dues for the whole locker room, and that she has asked for a match with Shida next week. Serena says she will take out over seventeen years of anger and frustration out on Shida to the point that she will not be able to walk out on her own.

Malakai Black beats Brian Pillman Jr. After the match, The Lucha Brothers (Penta el Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix) show up as Malakai Black approaches Julia Hart, then the lights go out. When they come back on, Black is in the ring while The Lucha Brothers are in it.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews Ruby Soho when Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter and Rebel show up. Britt says Ruby cannot get the job done again, but Ruby says Britt cannot beat Riho at all. When Ruby tells Britt to prepare for her match and leave her alone, Ruby gets attacked by Britt, Hayter and Rebel. Referees have to break up the brawl, especially when Riho gets involved.

We hear from QT Marshall and Aaron Solo. QT Marshall says Hook learned everything him and implies that Hook is lazy, then says Hook could never stretch Solo. Solo says "Stretch me if you can, survive if I let you."

Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus) beats The Lucha Brothers (Penta el Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix) to win the AEW World Tag Team Championships! During the match, Rey Fenix suffers an arm injury after Luchasaurus choke slams him through a table. After the match, the tag team division shows up and looks towards the ring while The Inner Circle and Malakai Black watch from separate luxury boxes.
