Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for June 29, 1998

The show begins with a helicopter cam focusing on an 18-wheeler containing Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone, along with a police escort.

We see a performance by The Nitro Girls. Baseball player Wade Boggs is spotted in the crowd by commentary.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Kevin Greene, who is not happy with happened to him in the ring last week. He praises Goldberg for saving him last week, and says he's the best wrestler in the last 30 years. He mentions his past with Goldberg as roommates when they were in the Los Angeles Rams, and mentions his and Goldberg's tag team match against The Giant and Curt Hennig at Bash at the Beach.

Kanyon beats Horace. Sic Boy and Kidman go after Kanyon after the match, but Kanyon makes quick work of them only to be attacked by Riggs. Raven shows up as the numbers game catches up to Kanyon, and Raven tells Kanyon that where he walks and stands, he walks and stands alone. He says that would have been admirable a generation ago, but today it is foolish. He then hits Kanyon with an Evenflow DDT.

We see helicopter cam footage of the 18-wheeler and the police escort.

We get another shot of the helicopter following the 18-wheeler and the police escort. Meanwhile, "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and nWo Hollywood grab a bunch of crowbars so they can tear the 18-wheeler up when it arrives at the arena.

We hear a fan talk about who will win between the team of Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone and the team of "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman at Bash at the Beach.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Stevie Ray, who admits he has a problem with "The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Steve "Mongo" McMichael. He says he can beat both of them one-on-one when he wants to, but his brother Booker T wants to do it in a tag team match. He says Booker T goes with everything he does because they are Harlem Heat, and he issues the challenged for the tag team match, assuming Benoit and Mongo have the guts. He promises we will see Harlem Heat at their very best.

Little Dragon beats Eddie Guerrero. During the match, Chavo Guerrero Jr. shows up riding a hobby horse (which he deems "Pepe") saying "Come on, little trooper!" towards Eddie while making horse jokes, allowing Little Dragon to roll Eddie up as he is distracted and trying to steal Pepe. After the match, Eddie hits Little Dragon with the stick - the head being whisked off into the crowd and picked up by security - from the hobby horse, before Chavo gets the stick and the horse head back and runs away from Eddie.

The Giant quickly beats Sumo Fuji and Judo Suwa. Wade Boggs is seen shaking hands with Curt Hennig and Rick Rude in the front row before the match. After the match, Hennig and Rude attack The Giant's quickly dominated opponents before tossing them out of the ring. Hennig then tells the people that if they have a problem, they should bring it into the ring right now. He then says Goldberg and Kevin Greene will meet the same fate at Bash at the Beach. He then says Greene is a piece of garbage and that he is a football player who wishes he was a wrestler, and if he or anyone wants to enter his sport, they should bring it into the ring and bring it now. He gives Wade Boggs a pass as Kevin Greene shows up, then Hennig dares him to get in the ring so he can squash him like a grape. He rushes into the ring, with Goldberg following close behind. When Goldberg hits the ring, Rude, Hennig and The Giant clear out of the ring.

We hear another fan talk about who will win between the team of Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone and the team of "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman at Bash at the Beach.

"Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff show up. Hogan says that when some "filthy stinky truck driver" showed up, he's skip school and knocks his teeth out. He then goes on to say he made Hollywood, pro wrestling and the city of Tampa, Florida famous, and when Karl Malone and Diamond Dallas Page show up, he'll make Malone famous when he meets him in the parking lot and dumps the trailer on his back. He'll then drag DDP out with one arm and Malone out with the other, and everyone from New York to Florida will hear him break them in half. He says nWo Hollywood is in the back with crowbars, spark plus and extra cans of gas in case the truck can't make it into the building, where they'll give them a red carpet welcome where Malone will become the biggest loser of his career by shining his shoes. Hogan then says Malone embarrass himself in the finals and on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and asks why he would embarrass himself by stepping in his world and getting in the ring with Dennis Rodman. He says black and white are the true nWo colors, and says he'll beat up DDP and Malone and give Rodman the night off.

We see the 18-wheeler and the police escort again, and it is announced that Karl Malone and Diamond Dallas Page are almost here.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

Sting and Lex Luger beat The British Bulldog and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart. Before the match, it is announced that Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone have arrived in the greater Tampa, Florida area.

We hear yet another fan talk about who will win between the team of Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone and the team of "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman at Bash at the Beach.

Saturn beats Reese in an upset win. The rest of Raven's Flock shows up after the match, and the numbers game catches up. Raven shows up and says it's time for Saturn to take accountability for his life, saying it's his fault he was unpopular and poor, and that his dead beat him and that their friendship his over. He says friendship is a two-way street, and he gave and gave and gave only for Saturn to do nothing but take. He then hits Saturn with an Evenflow DDT.

We see the 18-wheeler and the police escort yet again.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

El Vampiro beats Brad Armstrong in his Nitro debut.

We see a video package of the feud between the team of "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman and the team of Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone.

We see footage from earlier today of Mark Tenay asking fans who will win between the team of "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman vs. the team of Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone.

Ultimo Dragon beats Dean Malenko by count-out after Chris Jericho shows up and makes fun of the fact that Dean's father is buried in Tampa, Florida, which causes Dean to chase him to the back.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the third hour.

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Steve "Mongo" McMichael beat Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) after Bret "The Hit Man" Hart hits Booker T in the back with a steel chair behind the referee's back.

Dean Malenko find Chris Jericho and Ultimo Dragon in the locker room - with the former going back on his promise of a Cruiserweight title shot for the latter - and beats both of them up before chasing after Jericho again.

The 18-wheeler with Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone and the police escort are seen in downtown Tampa, Florida.

It's time for the debut edition of nWo Late Night, with host Eric Bischoff and Miss Elizabeth. Tonight's special guest is Scott Steiner. He says comparing Karl Malone to Dennis Rodman is like comparing apples to oranges or winners to losers, as Rodman has beaten Malone like a rented basketball commercials. He says Rodman is doing movies with Jean-Claude Van Damme while Malone is doing Rogaine commercials, and says Malone has a lawsuit coming because he is not delivering as "The Mailman." Scott Steiner also says that Malone will not deliver at Bash at the Beach, either. Scott Steiner says his next movie co-star is as genetically superior and good-looking as he is, and will bring him onto nWo Late Night next week.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Booker T. He's not as worried about his brother Stevie Ray as he is Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, who has been hitting him from behind with steel chairs. He calls Bret "a sissified punk," and wants him in the squared circle to see if he the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. Stevie Ray confronts Booker for challenging him to a match when he could just take him out backstage. As Booker T and Stevie Ray argue, Bret shows up and accepts the challenge, telling him to put the TV title if he wants, but tells him not to cry after he loses because he's stepping into the ring with the best technical wrestler in the history of professional wrestling. Stevie Ray argues with Booker T again, wanting him to sneak attack Bret, but Booker says he'll do this the right way.

Backstage, "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan tells Eric Bischoff that Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone will pay as Bischoff tells him not to sweat them. Hogan suddenly has an idea of how to handle the two of them.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Goldberg retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship against Glacier. During the match, it is announced that Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone are within the general vicinity of the arena.

"Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff make their way to the ring again. Bischoff and Hogan call out Malone, hoping they would make a quick kill tonight. He says Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone failed to show, and that he'll turn Dennis Rodman loose so they'll beat their brains out in San Diego, California. The 18-wheeler containing DDP and Malone is seen pulling up to the arena as Bischoff and Hogan continue to mock DDP and Malone, calling them losers as he boasts that he will wipe them out at Bash at the Beach. nWo Hollywood is seen outside of the arena as the 18-wheeler and the police escort shows up, but they all scatter when the truck pulls up. DDP and Malone enter the arena with steel chairs, and they quickly make their way to the ring, unbeknownst to Hogan and Bischoff. They clap their chairs together, and Bischoff is tossed out of the ring, leaving Hogan alone. Hogan tries to escape, but Karl Malone won't let him. Hogan and Malone eventually lock up, and Malone gets the upper hand on Hogan with a scoop slam before knocking him out of the ring with a few clotheslines. Afterwards, DDP tells Hogan he's just been slam dunked, and says it's a shame Rodman couldn't be here tonight. He and Malone then extend an open invitation to Dennis Rodman for next week. Malone tells Rodman that at Bash at the Beach, size does matter, and DDP says Rodman and Hogan will feel the bang.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for June 29, 1998

RAW

WWF owner shows up with Gerald Brisco and WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter, as Pat Patterson is not here due to a death in the family. We see a red carpet in the ring and a glass case with the WWF Championship inside. McMahon says today is a glorious day, as there is a new WWF Champion. McMahon announces this is the dawning of a new era of popularity and prosperity, of respect and dignity and even civility, as if a breath of fresh air has cleansed the WWF of the foul mouth, the unseemly hand gesture and the beer swilling. He says this champion who is a man among men whose lips have never so much as tasted an alcoholic beverage or uttered an obscenity in his entire life, and his only gesture to salute the flag of the United States of Championship. He says this champion is a role model and a champion for the new millennium, and that this champion is Kane. Kane shows up with Paul Bearer. McMahon then asks Bearer to put into words what he is feeling at this moment. Bearer announces the WWF is indeed a place where dreams can come true, and there is no way anyone can understand what this momentous occasion means to himself and Kane this evening, and that unless you have walked a mile in Kane's shoes, you cannot realize it. Bearer says he was there for 20 long years, as he watched his son Kane sit in a room with his dreams and pictures of The Undertaker all over the room as he watched Superstars every Saturday morning and told him "I want to be like him." Bearer told Kane he could be better than The Undertaker and says it is not wrong to dream. He says Kane was ridiculed and teased and put down, but tonight, for the first time, The Undertaker is standing in the shadow of his little brother. Brisco then removes the glass case covering the WWF Championship so that McMahon can ceremonially hand the WWF Championship to Kane. Kane says it is an honor to put the title around his waist voluntarily, but before he can do just that, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin shows up and tells Vince that Kane never busted him open and that The Undertaker was the one who did it. Austin then demands a rematch for the WWF Championship tonight, and that all Vince has to do is say he's got it. Vince says everyone would love to see that rematch, and Austin tells Vince to get the stupid look off his face and give it to him. Vince then believes that Austin doesn't deserve the rematch, but Austin asks for a "hell yeah" if the fans want a rematch, which they do. Vince changes his mind, and says it's okay with him as long as it's okay with Paul Bearer. Austin puts Paul Bearer in the hot seat and asks the same of him. Bearer tells Kane to tell Austin, but Austin isn't having any of it and tells Bearer to grab the microphone and start talking. Bearer says it's all right with him if it's okay with Kane. Austin dares someone in the ring to have some guts, and asks Kane to give him the rematch tonight. Austin tells Kane he's bigger than The Undertaker now that he has the WWF Championship, and that The Undertaker won it for him and handed the belt for him, then tells Kane to ask himself if he could have beaten "Stone Cold" Steve Austin fair and square, and if he doesn't get the reamtch, he'll never know. Austin asks for the rematch, and Kane shakes his head yes. The rematch is on. Paul Bearer is livid.

The encore for King of the Ring is tomorrow night on pay-per-view.

Before the next match, Sable shows up with a note. She says that WWF owner Vince McMahon is pleased and proud to announce the signing of one of the greatest wrestlers in the world to a WWF contract: Steven Regal, who left World Championship Wrestling sometime last year. Sable guests on commentary for the next match, and says she is unable to discuss her agreement with Vince McMahon and Titan Sports that has allowed her to come back to the WWF.

Steven Regal beats Darren "Puke" Drozdov with the Regal Stretch in his WWF debut.

Michael Cole interviews new King of the Ring, "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock, who says it's good to be king. He has competed in many, many fights in his career with the UFC and over in Japan, and says the King of the Ring Tournament was one of the hardest things he's ever had to do, calling it "a great accomplishment." He gives credit where credit is due and admits "The Rock" Rocky Maivia is a true champion and a true warrior. Suddenly, Owen Hart shows up and tells Shamrock to spare him the sugar-coating and sucking up, saying he won the tournament and is a better king than he'll ever be. He dares Shamrock to get in the zone and then get in his zone to see who the better king is tonight. Shamrock says Owen can talk, but asks if he can walk the walk. He also remembers Owen breaking his ankle, then accepts his challenge and says he's got nothing but pain to look forward to. "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Chyna show up, and says that he is "the King of Kings" and that one is not a king unless they step in the ring with him. He makes the challenge into a three-way dance, and asks if they're going to do something or just talk about it. Shamrock accepts the challenge for the Triple Threat Match.

We see "The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman warming up in the locker room, followed by the rules for the Brawl For All Tournament, which starts tonight and combines boxing, wrestling and other methods of fighting. There are three one-minute rounds, there is a point system where takedowns are worth five points, knockdowns are worth 10 points and the person who lands the most punches per round earns an extra five points. Knockouts end the match. Danny Hodge will be the official for the Brawl For All.

"The Lethal Weapon" Steve Blackman beats Marc Mero to continue to the next round of the Brawl For All Tournament after Blackman racks up a lot of points from takedowns. Within the middle of the first round, it becomes readily apparent that the fans are not interested in the tournament, and when both Mero and Blackman go to the corner after the end of the second round, the crowd starts chanting "We want wrestling!"

The Undertaker is seen heading to the arena.

Before the next match, Val Venis chases after Yamaguchi-san with a steel chair and looks at Yamaguchi-san's wife (who is sitting at the corner near the ring), then says that if the ladies in the home of the Cleveland Indians want to get to first base with him, all they have to do is choke up n that bat and swing for the long balls.

Val Venis beats Dick Togo. During the match, it is announced that WWF Footbrawl will come to the Foxboro Stadium at noon on Saturday, August 8. Also, Dustin Runnels briefly guests on commentary during the match to spread the word of God. After the match, Val Venis looks at Yamaguchi-san's wife again, then Yamaguchi-san slaps him. Sho Funaki and Men's Teioh attack Venis from behind, but Venis gets a steel chair and lays them all out. We then see Edge in the stands.

Michael Cole interviews "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, who says he didn't feel he lost the WWF Championship and says he feels pretty confident.

Owen Hart tries to snap Shamrock's ankle again with a Figure Four Leg Lock on the ring post as referees try to pull him off Shamrock.

The Undertaker shows up. He says he owes nobody anything, not even an apology, but explains why he came to the ring last night. He says it is common knowledge that there is no love lost between him and Kane, mainly because of Paul Bearer's mind manipulation. He says the day may come where he and Kane may have to destroy each other, and if so, so be it. However, he did not want to see his little brother Kane set himself on fire to live up to his legacy and also exceed it, and says he did what he had to do. WWF owner Vince McMahon shows up, and implies The Undertaker has compassion for Kane before saying he really did it because he knows he can beat his brother for the WWF Championship and because he doesn't think he can beat Austin. He calls The Undertaker "the most vile, contemptible and evil individual the Devil ever placed on this earth," and that Hell hath no fury in what he will find if he interferes in tonight's WWF Championship rematch.

We see Bradshaw training on a punching bag backstage, while wrist tape is wrapped around Mark Canterbury's (the legal name of them formerly known as Henry O. Godwinn) wrist.

Now, they introduce - and re-united with - "Precious" Paul Ellering, their manager, who has been on the sidelines for a long time. Hawk calls Ellering "the greatest thing to happen to Cleveland and the best thing to come out of Cleveland since they ditched Albert Bell" before calling Bell "a stinkin' loser." He says Ellering brought them to the top, and now they are reborn with Ellering, who he calls their greatest friend and mentor, and Hawk says that Ellering is proud to be back and must have something to say. Patterson tells her to get out of the ring, and before she does, she slaps Patterson in the face after he pats her on the rear. Gerald Brisco demands respect for Vince, but it only makes the crowd boo louder. Vince says he is glad everyone in the arena joined him them tonight, and it becomes apparent by Vince asking the crowd want they want that they want to see "Stone Cold" Steve Austin retain the title and Kane set himself on fire. Vince suggests that the crowd is setting themselves up for one big disappointment, but it comes to no surprise as their entire lives has been symphonies of disappointments to the point that they were disappointments to their parents and that their parents disappointed them, too, and they will blame everything but themselves and know what failure and disappointment are all about. Vince then says he stands before the crowd tonight to soften the blow of the disappointment they will eventually feel and prepare them for what they are going to feel when Austin is no longer WWF Champion. He warns them of the inevitable when Kane takes the title.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock beats "Double J" Jeff Jarrett with the ankle lock to continue to the finals of the King of the Ring Tournament despite interference by Tennessee Lee. "The Rock" Rocky Maivia beats Dan "The Beast" Severn to continue to the finals of the King of the Ring Tournament after "The Godfather" Kama Mustafa and "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry rush back in and distract the referee so that D'Lo Brown, who hasn't been seen in weeks, gets on the top rope with a chest protector around his torso and hits Severn with a frog splash before leaving through the crowd. Michael Cole interviews The Rock, who tells "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock he will have to go through him and that he'll make him hit rock bottom.

Jerry "The King" Lawler inundates Al Snow with head jokes before Al Snow says the head doesn't lay down for anybody. It is then announced that Lawler is the special guest referee for the next match.

Too Much ("Too Sexy" Brian Christopher and "Too Hot" Scott Taylor) beat Al Snow and Head after special guest referee Jerry "The King" Lawler hands Christopher an empty bottle of Head and Shoulders anti-dandruff shampoo so that Christopher can screw the bottle underneath Head and pin Head, who is the legal man, to get the win. During the match, it is announced that an interview with "The Rock" Rocky Maivia and "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock is available on the WWF Superstar Line.

X-Pac beats Owen Hart. During the match, "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry hits X-Pac with a splash out side of the ring, which causes Chyna to confront him. Henry is then attacked from out of nowhere by Vader, who brawls with Henry and takes it to the back as Chyna hits Owen with a DDT as he has X-Pac in the Sharpshooter. X-Pac taps out, but the referee is too busy with what's going on outside the ring to see it. X-Pac rolls on top of Owen to get the win.

Paul Bearer shows up, as promised. He says he wouldn't miss tonight for the world, afte taking two of the worst beating he has ever taken from The Undertaker, who he cursed to Hell with every stitch taken out of his forehead. For 20 years, his son Kane sat all alone in his home, in his room, surrounded by pictures of his brother, and watch Superstars and tell him "Dad, I want to be like him." His whole life, Kane suffered and was ridiculed, and couldn't even go outside due to the sun hurting his scars. Tonight will be the happies night of his life, for when he leaves this ring, he will be the father and manager of the WWF Champion. He says the crowd can laugh all he wants, for in the end, he will be laughing all the way to the bank.

The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) retain the WWF Tag Team Championships against The New Midnight Express ("Bombastic" Bob Holly and "Bodacious" Bart Gunn) after Chyna hits Jim Cornette with a low blow to stop him from interfering. During the match, former tag team partners Billy Gunn and Bart Gunn stare down when both of them get in the ring for the first time in the match at the same time.

"Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley guest on commentary for the next match, while Chyna guests on Spanish commentary.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock beats "The Rock" Rocky Maivia with the ankle lock to become the 1998 King of the Ring. During the match, The Rock confronts "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley only for Helmsley to spit water into his face.

The Undertaker beats Mankind in a bloody, brutal and violent Hell In A Cell Match - the second in WWF history, but one that will go on to to be viewed as an Attitude Era and WWF classic for years to come, if only for its sheer brutality compared to the WWF norm. Before the match begins, Mankind tosses the steel chair he came to the ring with to the top of the cell wall, and climbs up to the top. When the bell rings, Mankind and The Undertaker fight on the top of the cell, then The Undertaker tosses Mankind off the edge, and Mankind lands back first onto the Spanish commentary table. Jim Ross reacts with the legendary line "Good God almighty! Good God almighty! That killed him!" followed by "As God as my witness, he is broken in half!" Terry Funk has to check on Mankind after the feet-long fall, as does WWF owner Vince McMahon and WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter along with a host of referees. It is noticed by those checking on him that something has happened to one of Mankind's shoulders. The cell rises up somewhat with The Undertaker still on top of it, while a stretcher is prepared for Mankind. As Mankind is wheeled halfway down the aisle, The Undertaker climbs down from the cell. Mankind rises from the stretcher, and heads back towards the cell with a smile. Both men climb back up, and The Undertaker choke slams Mankind through the ceiling of the cell and onto the ring below. Jim Ross replies with "Will somebody stop the damn match?" as everyone checks on Mankind again, and The Undertaker drops down to the ring. He choke slams Terry Funk out of his shoes, then goes for the clothesline off the top rope only for Mankind to run into the ropes and crotch him. Mankind is then seen smiling as blood comes out of his mouth, then The Undertaker and Mankind continue fighting, and cannot even pick up the steel steps, which The Undertaker rams repeatedly into Mankind's injured shoulder. Later in the match, it is noticed that a tooth is protruding from out of Mankind's nose, and Mankind introduces a bag full of thumbtacks, and after a series of reversals into the Mandible Claw, The Undertaker recovers, carries Mankind on his back and slams Mankind back first into the them. After a choke slam back into the thumbtacks, Mankind gets up and walks into the Tombstone Piledriver. The match ends, and referees and medical staff check on Mankind again. EMTs try to take Mankind to the back, but Mankind still insists on leaving the ring under his own power. Terry Funk, Slaughter, referees, and two WWF doctors help Mankind to the back as the fans give Mankind a standing ovation.

Kane beats "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in a First Blood Match to win the WWF Championship. During the match, Austin is seen wearing bandages over his right elbow due to a staph infection and a 100 degree fever that left him in the hospital for three days. Also during the match, the cell from the previous match is lowered again, and when Austin and Kane are near the ring after some fighting, the cage is completely lowered after nearly coming down on Austin twice. After some fighting, the cell is then suddenly raised, and Kane is almost taken upwards with it. We also see Vince McMahon and Sable watching the match from the luxury box. At one point, Kane tosses Austin throat-first into referee Earl Hebner, pinning Hebner between Austin and a guardrail and knocking him out. Mankind, somehow still standing and moving around after the previous match, shows up minutes later with a steel chair and gets involved, and after Mankind gets in the ring, the cell lowers as Austin hits Mankind with a Stone Cold Stunner before doing the same to Kane to avoid a choke slam. The Undertaker shows up with a steel chair, and as Austin goes for Kane with Mankind's steel chair, The Undertaker knocks out Steve Austin, sending Austin's chair into his own head and busting him open. The Undertaken then places Earl Hebner back in the ring before taking a can of gasoline and pouring it on Hebner. Kane hits The Undertaker in the back with a steel chair, but Hebner is revived. Austin keeps fighting, the referee still not seeing Austin buster open. Hebner sees Austin after he hits Kane with a steel chair, and Kane wins the match and the WWF Championship. Vince McMahon is then seen in the luxury box, satisfied with his efforts as the show comes to an end.

People also say he's cruel, but sometimes, you have to be cruel to be kind.

Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock) beat Sick Boy and Horace.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Bret "The Hit Man" Hart. Bret says he hopes everyone is happy about turning one Canadian against another. He remembers "The Crippler" Chris Benoit when he was a snot-nosed punk running around in Calgary as his family gave him a chance to become what he is today. He hoped Benoit would have a little more respect and faith in his judgement he gave him which got him this far. He says it is the crowd's fault that it doesn't pay to be a hero anymore, and says that they corrupted Benoit's mind after he came to WCW. He says Benoit has crossed a line, and if he wants to be a big dog and go on the hunt, he's got it, and now he's going to be in the ring with the greatest technical wrestler in the history of wrestling. He says the fans Benoit give him hope and assuage his fear, but deep down, he has no hope and nothing but fear in him as he will go down to the excellent of execution tonight.

As Stevie Ray walks away with Booker T, Stevie Ray is counted out.

Eric Bischoff, Miss Elizabeth, "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, The Disciple and Scott Steiner show up. This reminds him of Savage's leg and how nWo Hollywood broke it, and says the only thing Elizabeth only wanted Savage for his pocketbook, and that Elizabeth would rather have him than Savage. He says that Savage has learned like everyone else that he is the one that has made professional wrestling what it is today. He then mentions stage two of his master plan, when he and Dennis Rodman "outclass, outwrestle and outpunk" Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone, saying he is only famous for his wife and for taking out the garbage and washing the dishes. Raw Deal - Raw recap for June 22, 1998

RAW

WWF owner Vince McMahon shows up to start the show and introduce Kane, who appears without Paul Bearer, who is seen watching at home via satellite. Vince tells Kane that when he faces "Stone Cold" Steve Austin for the WWF Championship, it will be the greatest day of his life, as the days of torment, a childhood that was nothing short of a living hell and an excess baggage of rejection, ridicule, scorn and abuse as an adult will all be gone forever as he takes his place in the rarefied air of those who have overcome all odds to become WWF Champion as he is destined to be. He says no force or man can stop destiny, not even "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, and as Kane stands, Vince says Kane dedicates his match to Austin and challenges Austin like he has never been challenged in his life as their match at King of the Ring will be one never been done before with no pinfalls, submissions, count-outs or disqualifications and the winner will be the one who draws first blood on his opponent. Vince deems the match a First Blood Match, and asks Austin how confident he is to retain the WWF Championship. Vince states Kane is so confident that he will offer, in writing, a special provision in the contract that states the following. Kane takes a electrolarynx from the belt of his bodysuit, presses it to his mandible, and speaks for the very first time. Kane says that if he does not win the title, I will set himself on fire, spooking Paul Bearer in the privacy of his own home. Vince repeats this statement, adding that Kane will breathe his last breath.

Before the next match, "The Rock" Rocky Maivia, Owen Hart and "The Godfather" Kama Mustafa are ejected from ringside by referees and by WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter.

"The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock beats "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry to continue to the semi-finals of the King of the Ring Tournament after Vader takes Henry out at ringside behind the referee's back. During the match, The Undertaker is reported to be on his way to the arena. After the match, Kevin Kelly interviews Shamrock, who says he's come too far to quit now, and that there's one more hill to climb and that he'll be on top when all is said and done. We then see Edge in the crowd, and it is announced he will be making his WWF debut tonight.

X-Pac, "Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn test the Super Soaker CPS 3000 on the director.

Before the next match, Dustin Runnels is seen down on one knee as if in prayer.

X-Pac beats Dustin Runnels after Chyna trips Runnels from ringside. After the match, "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley shows up, and X-Pac tells Dustin Runnels to suck it as Dustin Runnels tries to show good sportsmanship. Runnels then goes back to kneeling down in prayer at the corner.

Paul Bearer is interviewed via satellite from his home. Bearer says he'll know Kane will set himself on fire, as Kane will do anything he set his mind to do. He then goes on to say that Kane won't have to do it, as he will be at ringside with him where he has always been. He says Vince was telling the truth when he said Kane was living in torment, but he won't have to anymore as he will be at Kane's side when Kane becomes WWF Champion.

Edge is seen in the crowd again. (He is seen in different positions in the crowd throughout the show up until his match.)

Jerry "The King" Lawler is in the ring. He says he has been having problems with Al Snow, whom he calls "an idiot" who carries a mamnnequin head around. He says that he knows Al Snow is in the back, as he went into the cleaning lady's closet, took her dress, and tried to disguise himself with it. Lawler produces a piece of paper, and says he has something for him and asks him to come to the ring. Snow shows up, dressed like a cleaning lady as described, with Head wearing Lawler's crown, which Lawler claims Snow has stolen. Lawler says he ahas something Snow wants, and Snow has something he wants. He offers to trade the appointment with WWF owner Vince McMahon for the crown. AL Snow berates Head for stealing the crown, then commits to the trade. Snow then reads the document only to find out it is not an appointment with Vince, but a contract, and that they will have a tag team match against Too Much ("Too Sexy" Brian Christopher and "Too Hot" Scott Taylor) at King of the Ring, and they have to win the match in order to become part of the WWF. Snow says that if Vince gets his jollies in seeing him lose, it might as well happen now. Snow gets on the mat and tells Lawler to get it over with. Lawler calls out Too Much, and Snow gets up off the mat to hit both of them with Head before leaving the ring, telling Jim Ross the head doesn't lay down for anybody and leaving through the crowd.

Kevin Kelly is outside "Stone Cold" Steve Austin's locker room, ready to get Austin's answer to Kane's stipulation at King of the Ring.

The camera focuses on Edge in the crowd again.

"Double J" Jeff Jarrett beats "Marvelous" Marc Mero to continue to the semi-finals of the King of the Ring Tournament. During the match, Jacqueline dares Tennessee Lee to fight her, which in turn distracts Jarrett. Mero hits a low blow and the TKO on Jarrett, but the referee is still distracted. Sable shows up, which distracts Mero. Jarrett hits a DDT after blocking a kick, and gets the win. Kevin Kelly interviews Jarrett, who says he is the greatest singer, entertainer and wrestler, and on Sunday, he will become King of the Ring.

WAR ZONE

Before the next match, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn is ejected from ringside by the referee.

Kane beats "Road Dog" Jesse James. Paul Bearer is on the TitanTron and also seen via satellite, and Bearer says he is healing slowly and that he will be at King of the Ring. He says he knows about The Undertaker's collusion to destroy "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, and that The Undertaker tried to shut him up last week. Suddenly, the lights in his house start to dim, but as Bearer days he'll be at King of the Ring at Kane's finest hour, we hear a woman scream followed by The Undertaker beating up Paul Bearer, asking Bearer if he thought he'd forget where he lived as he also wrecks the house. As this happens, the satellite feed cuts out.

Edge beats Jose Estrada in his WWF debut. Before the match, Edge comes to the ring through the crowd. During the match, Edge accidentally breaks Jose Estrada's neck after somersaulting on him from over the top rope, and officials and medical staff have to check on him after the match.

Mankind has to calm Kane down in the locker room after what The Undertaker did to Paul Bearer in his home.

We see footage of Jose Estrada being placed on a stretched before being wheeled out to the back.

Dan "The Beast" Severn beats Owen Hart by submission with a bow and arrow lock after X-Pac blasts Owen with a steel chair. During the match, Owen Hart tosses a steel chair into the ring. Severn picks it up, and Owen tries to leave as the referee tries to wrestle the chair away from Severn only to be hit in the back by X-Pac. After the match, the rest of The Nation of Domination ("The Rock" Rocky Maivia, "The Godfather" Kama Mustafa, "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry) get in the ring and check on Owen, who has suffered a laceration on the top of his head.

After the commercial break, "The Rock" Rocky Maivia calls out D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, X-Pac, "Road Dog" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn). DX shows up, and are immediately held back by referees, officials and WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter.

"The Rock" Rocky Maivia beats "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley to continue to the semi-finals of the King of the Ring Tournament after he hits Triple H with a low blow to counter the Pedigree before pinning Triple H with a fisherman's suplex. After the match, D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, X-Pac, "Road Dog" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) and The Nation of Domination ("The Rock" Rocky Maivia, Owen Hart, "The Godfather" Kama Mustafa, "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry).

Mankind has to continue to calm Kane down in the locker room before heading to the ring.

Before the next match, Mankind says he always enjoyed studying history, and that when he was a young boy, he had a favorite that hung on his bed of old men gathered on the old fields of Gettysburg, Union and Confederate soldiers shaking each others hands on the fields where they shed each other's blood. As he speaks, the Cell comes down and surrounds the ring. To him, it was a shining example of the bitter angels of our nature, of the power of forgiveness, and the ability of time to heal all wounds. When he thinks about his history with The Undertaker, he realized that it would end up the same way until The Undertaker attacked Paul Bearer. Now he has a new vision of himself with his last act on earth urinating on his grave, and calls him a "cowardly son-of-a-bitch." He never thought the word "coward" would apply to The Undertaker, and says that while Paul Bearer is many things - a warm man, a loving father - he is not a wrestler or a fighter, and yet The Undertaker attacked him. He and Paul have every power to put The Undertaker behind bars, but this is a family matter and put him behind the Cell, as blood is thicker than water. He also says that he a surprise for everyone that they will not soon forget. He then asks Kane to listen close, as all is not lost, and when all is set and done, Kane will have the WWF Championship, he will have his vengeance and Paul Bearer will have The Undertaker's soul.

Mankind beats Billy Gunn with the Mandible Claw, then immediately heads to the back. During the match, Chyna is ejected from ringside. D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, X-Pac, "Road Dog" Jesse James) shows up and checks on Billy Gunn after the match. Mankind heads back to the locker room to look for Kane, but cannot find him.

Sable shows up and conducts an interview with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Austin says that there is no way Sable can't be out here by herself for no reason, and thinks something is going on. He asks her to go to the back, go to WWF owner Vince McMahon, flip him off and tell him it's from Stone Cold. If he's a marked man, he's not hard to find, and if anyone is around, all they have to do is show up so he can beat their ass. He accepts Kane's stipulations for King of the Ring, as he's bled before and is not afraid to bleed again, but when the WWF title is on the line, it means "[Kane's] big, dead ass" belongs to "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Austin also says that if Kane is dumb enough to set himself on fire in the ring, he'll be bringing all the marshmallows, hot dogs and beer as he watches him burn out, and if he goes out, he'll lay another log on the fire. Fire shoots out from the stage, and Kane immediately shows up. He stares Austin down from the stage, then summons blood to drop from the roof of the arena before telling Austin that this Sunday, the blood on him will be for real.

We see some footage from earlier today, where Mike Tenay asks some people who Sting's tag team partner and tag team title holder will be.

We see a performance by The Nitro Girls.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Savage admits he's missed the New York area, and wants to do it right tonight. He has a message for "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. He calls out Diamond Dallas Page, wanting to get him in the Wolfpac (which he considers a group of individuals and "the hole-in-the-wall gang"), and wants Page to prove himself to him. Upon hearing from Okerlund that DDP is schedules to be here later tonight after flying in from Utah from the NBA Playoffs, Savage takes enjoyment to this news. He says that the Wolfpac doesn't eat at the same fast-food spots and doesn't change the same women, and wants to put DDP to the litmus test if Piper has the guts. If Page can get past him, he can wear all the red-and-black he wants.

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit beats Fit Finley with the Crippler Crossface. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Benoit after the match, and Benoit and calls out Booker T so he can clear up some unfinished business and do something he should have done at the beginning of the series. Booker T shows up with Stevie Ray, and when Booker T shows up, Benoit raises his hand. Booker T says he has more respect for Benoit than any other man in the business. Benoit admits Booker T is the toughest opponent he has ever faced, and is one of the wrestlers he has the most respect for. If he needs someone in his corner, he'll be there. Stevie Ray interrupts, saying Booker T has a partner in his, but Benoit finishes his statement anyway. Stevie Ray attacks Benoit, and Booker T has to hold Stevie Ray back. Steve "Mongo" McMichael shows up for the first time in months to go after Stevie Ray, and Booker T has to shove him away to get Stevie Ray out of the ring. Benoit then says he's not here for the nWo Wolfpac or nWo Hollywood, then holds up four fingers, signifying that the Four Horsemen are coming back.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Diamond Dallas Page. Upon hearing about "Macho Man" Randy Savage's challenge, he says he's proving things to people all his life, and if people wants to see the two of them in a match - which is officially in a steel cage - he's got it. Once he's done with Savage, he's going after "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman, who he despises and considers somewhere between a cockroach and the white stuff that forms in the corner of your mouth when you're getting really thirsty. He also says he's got a partner of his own, whom he says will deliver the bang.

Rumors of Utah Jazz basketball player Karl Malone wrestling in WCW are addressed, but cannot be confirmed or denied.

We see a performance by The Nitro Girls.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. He says he has heard what "Macho Man" Randy Savage had to say, and says he is tought enough to make Rush Limbaugh lose weight and put Howard Stern on the Disney Channel. He says Savage is as crazy as he is and he respect s that, and if Savage wants Diamond Dallas Page to prove himself in a steel cage, he's got it. He uses his powers as WCW Commissioner to make the steel cage match official. He says he can't find a referee to get in the cage with them, so he is making himself the special guest referee for the match (despite saying he would never be a ref again after Savage's match against Bret "The Hit Man" Hart due to the position being a thankless job).

Masahiro Chono and Hiroyoshi Tenzan beat High Voltage (Rage and Kaos). Before the match, it is announced that the encore for The Great American Bash will be available tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday on pay-per-view. It is also announced that Goldberg will not be here tonight as his mother is the hospital getting surgery for a broken hip and is spending time in the hospital with her.

Pyrotechnics officially kick off the rest of the second hour.

nWo Wolfac (Kevin Nash, Konnan, Lex Luger) show up. Nash says life is full of ironies, and finds it ironic that the last to join the Wolfpac would be the first to bring them some gold. Nash then introduces Sting, who shows up with the WCW World Tag Team Championships. Sting says this is a red-and-black crowd if he's ever seen one. As for his tag team partner goes, he has great choices within the Wolfpac, and he can't lose with any of them. He says we will find out who he will be tag teaming with later on tonight in a match against Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray).

Kanyon beats Sick Boy.

Rick Rude and Curt Hennig show up. Rude says it's only been one day since The Great American Bash, and people have kept asking why he and Hennig have turned their back on the nWo Wolfpac. Rude says they did it for the cash, and no matter what Nash tells you, "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan will always be where the money is and always has been. He says they had Konnan's back and give credit to Goldberg where it's due for for staying in the ring; otherwise Goldberg would be 99-1 today. He says that Goldberg will eventually have to get in the ring of Curt Hennig and face the fear of defeat, so they can see how he hands being a loser. Hennig then brags about how he swerved Diamond Dallas Page and The Four Horsemen before swerving the Wolfpac, and sees when you see the black-and-white, you know there will be no swerve and says he will never swerve him. Both Rude and Hennig continue to look at themselves and at the camera, as if the trust between them is being questioned.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews WCW Executive Committee Chairman J.J. Dillon, who is currently holding the WCW World Cruiserweight Championship. Dillon has conversed with referee Billy Silverman, who was the referee for Chris Jericho vs. Dean Malenko at The Great American Bash. Dillon says that the understanding was that whoever won the match won the championship, and Chris Jericho shows up saying he is the Cruiserweight Champion again, and demands the title. Dillon recognizes Jericho as the champion, and tells him that he will award him the championship on the understanding that he will defend the title in 30 days against Dean Malenko. Jericho says he has looked up the rules in the Library of Congress, and says that while he has to defend the title in 30 days, he doesn't have to defend against Malenko if he doesn't want to. He says he has beaten Malenko so many times that he is as useless as his dad. Jericho is then struck from behind by Dean Malenko, who takes Jericho to the back and beats him up backstage again until WCW security stops him. Jericho takes the opportunity to run all the way out of the arena.

The Giant beats Chris Adams after Adams refuses to let him finish his cigarette.

Eric Bischoff, "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and The Disciple show up. Hogan welcomes everyone back to the house that Hollywood built, and says there is a pecking order. He says that the nWo Wolfpac have been watching TV praying one day to be like him, but he will always be the man. As far as the Wolfpac and WCW go, the one that makes him sickest is Diamond Dallas Page. If DDP has a problem with him and Rodman beating his brains out, he triple dog dares him to step up to the plate and do something about it. He's heard about the rumors of Karl Malone coming to WCW, and believes DDP was trying to get a cheap shot on Rodman. He dares DDP to find someone to stand alongside him, as he and Rodman are for real and he cannot think of anything better than getting in the ring and beating the brains out of DDP and the partner of his choice, as he believes in first class delivery and not parcel post.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the third hour.

Before the next match, Sting tells "Rowdy" Roddy Piper that "Macho Man" Randy Savage is crazier than him, and tells Diamond Dallas Page that he's got thinking of his own to do. Sting then reveals his tag team partner and new co-holder of the WCW World Tag Team Championships: Kevin Nash. Nash tells Curt Hennig that he made the biggest mistake of his life last night, and if he's not running with the pack, he's now going to be hunted by the pack.

Sting and Kevin Nash retain the WCW World Tag Team Championships after Stevie Ray chastises Booker T and taunts Kevin Nash only to run right into a Scorpion Death Drop from Sting.

The nWo announcement footage of "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Scott Steiner on the set of Shadow Warriors from last week is replayed.

Eric Bischoff interviews Scott Steiner on the stage. Bischoff says Hollywood is dying to have Scott Steiner in their feature films. Scott Steiner it's great to be in New York, but it's not Los Angeles, and if you want to wake up every morning to smell smog and eat bagels, you live in New York. In Los Angeles, the sun always shines. He says if you want to live with taxi drivers who don't speak English, you live in New York. Meanwhile, he's in Los Angeles where all the fine thespians are, and they're all coming up and paying homage to him and what a great action job he did on his brother Rick Steiner. Not only has he fooled Rick, he fooled "Mean" Gene Okerlund, who pointed out the tears in his eyes. If you can fool a man who's been in the business for thirty years, that's acting. As he is out in Hollywood where the girls call hi "Big Poppa-licious," he has one question: where is Rick Steiner? Rick is at home with his arm in a sling and out of wrestling because he gave him two chances to join the nWo and they decided he would never join the most powerful organization in the world today.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

. During the match, Savage and Piper have a quarrel due to Piper's slow cadence, and Savage puts Piper out with a piledriver only to allow DDP enough time to hit the Diamond Cutter. When Piper gets up, he tries to get DDP out of the corner only for DDP to beat him up until he fights back, which fires Piper up into beating up Savage. The cage moves up a few steps as this goes on, and enables nWo Hollywood to show up and attack Savage and Page. The cage then goes backdown, entrapping Piper, Savage and DDP with nWo Hollywood. nWo Wolfpac tries to get in to no avail. Kevin Nash heads to the backstage area, and finds the control box for the cage. The cage comes up, and the Wolfpac gets into the ring as the show ends.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for June 15, 1998

RAW

Despite being forced out of the WWF at Over The Edge, Sable returns to start the show. She says it feels good to be back, and introduces the person responsible for her return to the World Wrestling Federation: WWF owner Vince McMahon, who comes to the ring, still inundated by boos and chants for "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. Vince says that in an effort to clear everything up, Vince gives Sable a written statement for her to read to the crowd. It reads, "I, Vince McMahon, the humanitarian of the year, resent any and all accusations that I, last week, in my finest hour, would stoop so low as to use legitimate charitable organization to further my personal agenda against "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. I hereby publicly disavow any reference or knowledge of the willful and heinous attack perpetrated on the WWF Champion one week ago. I remain steadfast in my resolve to be a caring, generous and even jovial WWF owner and to furthermore bring the parties responsible for last week's attack on "Stone Cold" to justice. Thank you for your kindness and understanding, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the show." Vince kisses Sable on the cheek, then takes the written statement back and says he hopes that clears everything up before trying to place it back in his pocket. After Vince tries to leave without any explanation of how or why he brought Sable back, Austin shows up, helps Sable to the back, takes the microphone and flips Vince off. Austin says that while he threw up about six times backstage while Sable read his statement, and since Austin is tried of "all [his] chickenshit things that [he's] been doing to [him]," he's putting his foot in Vince's ass and there's nothing he can do about it. Vince runs away as Austin tears up the statement, and Vince asks Austin to listen to reason and not react in a physical, violent way, but Austin asks the crowd to give him a "hell yeah" if they want him to do it anyway. Austin chases Vince around the ring as Vince continuously asks Austin to listen to reason for once, and says it was The Undertaker who planned the attack on him last week, not him. He says this sounds preposterous, but asks Austin to hear him out, as it was The Undertaker who challenged Austin for the WWF Championship two weeks ago, and that last week, The Undertaker knew what he was doing and knew Vince was going to call the cops on him as he wreaked havoc throughout the show. Vince says he, Austin and the fans all fell for it and that The Undertaker surrounded himself with police so that he couldn't make the save. He then tells Austin that The Undertaker is from the dark side, and that he might as well be the Devil himself. The Undertaker heads down to the ring and stares down with Austin, then takes a microphone and tells him he came out here and challenged him for the WWF Championship, but he did it like a man and did it in front of the whole world with respect for Austin and where he has brought himself. He still respects what the WWF Championship stands for, and now matter how entertaining or plausible Vince's conspiracy theory is, it is "a damn lie." The Undertaker tells Vince he makes a living out of manipulating the minds of those weaker than him, and lets him know one thing before he removes his head from the rest of his body: he will never, ever be able to manipulate the mind of The Undertaker. Suddenly, the arena goes dark, and Kane, Mankind (now in a torn white dress shirt and tie) and Paul Bearer appear. Bearer congratulates The Undertaker for "the Academy Award performance [he] put on last Monday night." For a few minutes, he believed Austin believed The Undertaker when he pointed his finger at Vince, but Paul tells The Undertaker they both know that Vince had nothing to do with the plan last week, and that as far-fetched as it may sound, he and The Undertaker had set the whole thing up and it worked well. Bearer says The Undertaker wants more than the gold on Austin's waist, and wants to take Austin's very soul by entrapping him in the cell above the ring. Bearer then says he has gone as far as he can go with The Undertaker, and says there will be entrapment tonight. However, it will be the both of them, as Bearer challenges Austin and The Undertaker to a tag team Hell in a Cell match against Kane and Mankind tonight. He then Austin and The Undertaker that they are standing ont he entrance ramp to the highway to Hell.

D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, X-Pac, "Road Dog" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) witness Triple H and X-Pac trash-talk each other in front of the rest of the group. Triple H says this match is for the King of the Ring tournament and that he can't lay down for him this time. X-Pac says it's been nine months since his injury, and that he's all healed up and ready to knock Triple H down.

Dustin Runnels beats "Marvelous" Marc Mero. "Double J" Jeff Jarrett, Tennessee Lee and Southern Justice (Henry O. and Phineas I. Godwinn) show up at the beginning of the match. Jarrett guests on commentary to guarantee against Mero in the King of the Ring tournament next week after what happened earlier tonight. Later on in the match, Jarrett confronts Mero from the apron, and as the ref is preoccupied with telling Jarrett to get down, Sable walks down the ramp, Sable shows up, distracting Mero and allowing Runnels the win.

D-Generation X ("Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Chyna, X-Pac, "Road Dog" Jesse James, "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) continue to trash-talk each other, then Chyna tells both of them to get in the ring and wrestle like men.

Kevin Kelly interviews Dustin Runnels, who says tonight's win is a long time coming. He thanks his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

During the match, "The Rock" Rocky Maivia shows up in the stands and tells Triple H that he laid down for him when he beat him two weeks as Owen Hart crotches X-Pac on the guardrail, and tells Triple H it was all part of a master plan to lay the smackdown on Triple H. Al Snow and Head show up as his previous WWF gimmick Avatar. Head is also wearing an Avatar Match. After the commercial break, Jerry "The King "Lawler tells Snow that he's not fooling anyone. Snow takes off his mask and tells Lawler that he's beginning to realize what kind of marketing genius he is working for under WWF owner Vince McMahon, and that people were supposed to figure out it was him behind the mask when he was Avatar. Lawler tells Snow that he will not get any meeting with Vince with the stunts he's pulling, but Snow says he's not getting anything with Lawler and is about to make two citizen's arrests tonight - one for attempted murder for Vince McMahon after he tried to kill his career during his earlier stint in WWF, and the other for lewd public conduct for "slipping [him] the sausage" for not scoring him a meeting with Vince. Lawler tells Snow his problem is with Head, and the only way to get a meeting is to get rid of Head. Lawler tries to do it for him, but Snow hammers Lawler before hitting the ref with the Snow Plow. Lawler tries to fight back, but Snow hits Lawler in the crotch with Head before fighting off two security guards and leaving through the crowd.

X-Pac, "Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn spray Michael Cole and a production worker with the Super Soaker CPS 2500.

Vader shows up and attacks Mark Henry, and "The Rock" Rocky Maivia and "The Godfather" Kama Mustafa. DX then starts fighting The Nation (The Rock, Owen Hart, Kama Mustafa, Mark Henry) as referees and officials try to restore order.

Kane and Mankind win a tag team Royal Rumble match to become the #1 contenders for the WWF Tag Team Championships.

After the break, Paul Bearer asks if "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and The Undertaker accept his challenge. Mankind says in poem that at King of the Ring, it will not be a nice day for The Undertaker, then Bearer says his plan will unfold to the world before implying that Austin and The Undertaker are cowards. Suddenly, Austin shows up, but The Undertaker does not, and the Hell in a Cell match ends up turning into a 2-on-1 handicap Hell in a Cell match. As Kane and Mankind attack Austin, Paul Bearer locks himself in the cell. As Bearer watches what is happening, The Undertaker comes out from the underside of the behind Bearer and attacks him. Kane climbs to the top and tries to find a way into the cell, but to no avail. Before the next match, Kanyon shows up dressed as Mortis, but it is revealed that someone else in the get-up as Kanyon is suddenly behind Saturn. He attacks Saturn from behind to start their match.

Kanyon beats Saturn. Raven's Flock tries to get involved in the match, but they are ejected and banned from ringside by referee Nick Patrick. Later on in the match, two men dressed as Mortis appear, roll Kanyon and Saturn back into the ring, then wrestle each other upon seeing each other. This distracts Saturn, allowing Kanyon to hit the Flatliner after Saturn leaps from the top rope. One of the Mortises raises Kanyon's arm in victory, then hits him with the Evenflow DDT and reveals himself as Raven. Raven then berates Saturn for losing to Kanyon, and tells him he can't do anything right. Raven tells him to forget about it as it's only one loss, then tell Saturn he's sick of him. When he asks Saturn if he wants a piece of him, Saturn goes after Raven. Raven's Flock returns just before this happens, and try to outnumber Saturn only to be decimated as Raven leaves.

Chris Jericho beats Dean Malenko by disqualification after angering Malenko by telling him he is nothing just like his dead father. This enrages Malenko, who takes Jericho ringside and hits him with a steel chair. The match ends up turning into a brawl that goes all the way backstage and to the outside of the arena. Head of WCW Security separates both men, and Jericho runs into a building across the street. The status of the WCW Cruiserweight Championship, still held up, is up in the air.

Eddie Guerrero tells Chavo Guerrero Jr. in an interview for WCWWrestling.com that he may be overreacting and apologizes to him, saying he doesn't want to fight him, their relatives don't want them to fight and that he loves him.

We get a special look at Juventud Guerrera.

Juventud Guerrera beats Reese after Van Hammer hides behind the ring and blast Reese in the back with a steel chair - introduced into the match by Reese and tossed out by referee Charles Robinson - as the referee is distracted by Lodi and Reese has Juventud Guerrera up in position for a powerbomb. Van Hammer and Juvi celebrate after the match. During the match, it is announced that the status of the WCW Cruiserweight Championship will be decided tomorrow.

Goldberg beats Konnan. After the match, Curt Hennig and Rick Rude, who accompany Konnan to the match, turn on Konnnan for not getting the job done, and Kevin Nash and Lex Luger have to chase Rude and Hennig out of the ring. Hennig then reveals he is wearing an nWo Hollywood shirt underneath and that his knee injury was a set-up to turn on the Wolfpac.

Bash At The Beach is coming live to pay-per-view on July 12th!

"Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Bret "The Hit Man" Hart beat "Macho Man" Randy Savage and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper after Savage's injured knee gives out on him and Bret makes Savage submit to the Sharpshooter following constant fighting in and out of the ring that also involves The Disciple. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Piper and Savage after the match, but neither man wants to talk as Piper helps Savage up. Savage sends Piper to the mat, starting the match between Piper and Savage.

When the match begins, The Giant blows smoke into this face, and Sting smacks him away, starting the match.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for June 8, 1998

The show starts with a performance by The Nitro Girls.

We see footage from earlier today where Mike Tenay interviews a few fans concerning Sting's move to nWo Wolfpac and who will probably join the Wolfpac next.

The nWo Wolfpac show up. Kevin Nash says Lex Luger did one heck of a job getting Sting to join the Wolfpac, and Nash thanks Diamond Dallas Page for believing when he was about to walk out of the business five years ago because he thought he'd never get a break. He tells Diamond Dallas Page he's got a choice to make, and the Wolfpac almost unanimously wants him to be their next member, with Nash says they've got a home for him. Nash brings up the moment when Page refused to join the New World Order the first time, and says that Page made the right decision then, but tells Page he can't turn down the dream team in nWo Wolfpac. He tells Page to make the decision tonight, and that he knows he'll make the right one. Nash then address "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, but before he can say much, Hogan interrupts and tells him to pack his bags and walk on out as Nash's microphone is cut off. Hogan - who is at the controls of the lights and pyro - tells the Wolfpac to get out of his house, as he and Dennis Rodman - who is suddenly back in the nWo - are taking over. Rodman turns on the pyrotechnics, and Hogan tells the Wolfpac that nobody wants to listen to them as Eric Bischoff and Bret "The Hit Man" Hart laugh. The lights are turned off, except for the spotlight that is on them. Hogan says this is how he likes to see them - not there and nowhere. The lights come back on, and Hogan says the pecking over has been decided before cutting to a commercial.

Konnan interviews WCW Executive Chairman Committee J.J. Dillon, who says he is doing the best he can concerning nWo Hollywood and that they're nWo Wolfpac's problem, not his. Konnan tells Dillon not to come to them when they start doing the same thing. Konnan tells nWo Hollywood "it's on."

Yui Nagata beats Jerry Flynn with the Nagata Lock. During the match, it is announced that a major announcement will be made on this week's Thursday as per WCW's public relations department, much to the shock of disappointment, adnd that details cannot be divulged tonight.

Tony Schiavone interviews Chris Jericho. Jericho shows up with a registered letter from Ted Turner himself. According to the letter, Turner commends Jericho on his work in World Championship Wrestling, and sees in him a younger version of himself. He also says that his wife Jane sends her regards, and says he enjoys fishing in his home country of Canada. After a review of the Cruiserweight Battle Royal and the subsequent match, Turner then says that the circumstances of the match and Jericho's subsequent loss were less than by-the-book and that Dean Malenko should not be WCW Cruiserweight Champion. However, his incessant whining and complaining has sickened him and therefore Turner must agree with J.J. Dillon and WCW, and the decision stands, meaning Malenko is still Cruiserweight champion. As for his legal precedent, Turner tells him his attempt at a legal loophole will be as insignificant as his wrestling career.

Raven's Flock sits in the front row as Horace and Reese head ot the ring for their match.

Horace and Reese beat Juventud Guerrera and Hammer, who now goes by the name Van Hammer again. During the match, it is announced that Juventud Guerrera vs. Reese is official for The Great American Bash.

nWo Hollywood is in the skybox with several women while sipping champagne. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan says he has called his attorney, and tells Kevin Nash that the nWo Wolfpac is not as solid as he thinks and that he owes him all the money from the fines he paid back when the Jackknife Power Bomb was fined, and that nWo Hollywood will collect tonight. Hogan also announces that there is going to be a new member of nWo Hollywood, and they will become the second-biggest name in Hollywood. Eric Bischoff tells Nash that he's made his bed and that he'll have to lie in it.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

Tony Schiavone interviews WCW Executive Committee Chairman J.J. Dillon, who tried to stop last week's tag team title match but could not due to bad weather in Atlanta, Georgia, as The Giant had no authority to name his own tag team partner and make his own matches. Sting vs. The Giant is official for The Great American Bash, and due to being part of different factions of the nWo, whoever wins that match wins the tag team titles and will win the freedom to pick their new tag team partner.

Scott Putski vs. Eddie Guerrero ends in a no-contest. During the match, Chavo Guerrero Jr. shows up and goes after Eddie Guerrero. Putski confronts Chavo for getting involved in the match, and Chavo gets a sucker punch on Putski when he punches at Eddie. Chavo, crazy as ever, slowly stalks Eddie down the aisle.

Kevin Nash and Konnan tell "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan that if he needs the money that badly, they just sold 5,000 shirts tonight and they might cut him a percentage of the sales. He also tells Hogan they have the money in a Swiss bank account. Nash and Konnan also mock Dennis Rodman for hanging out with nWo Hollywood.

Eric Bischoff is at the production controls with nWo Hollywood and the women. He says he's having fun now, but it won't be as much as fun as what The Giant will do to Sting at The Great American Bash. The Giant hasn't eaten anything in four days, and his diet on Sunday is going to consist of a lot of bugs, and a red-and-black bug sounds good to him. The Giant says everyone fought long and hard for him, and now he wonders why, when Sting is nothing compared to him. Bischoff says Sting is a gnat, and The Giant says that when you catch a gnat, you pull its limbs off. The Giant promises to do just that to Sting at The Great American Bash this Sunday and pummel him to death in the middle of the ring.

Tony Schiavone interviews Rick Rude, Konnan and Hennig. Rude says inside Goldberg is the beat of a heart who fears no man, but Goldberg fears defeat as he has been nothing less than a steamroller. Rude tells Goldberg that he, Konnan and Hennig refuse to be part of the pavement and that Goldberg will face his greatest fear. Hennig tells Goldberg he's great, but he's no Curt Hennig, and he can't wait to put a blemish on Goldberg's record himself. Konnan tells Hennig to slow his roll, and while he gives Goldberg credit where credit is due, he's bringing the United States title to the nWo Wolfpac.

Booker T beats "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, tying the best-of-seven series at three wins apiece. During the match, Stevie Ray shows up and watches the match from ringside, and tries to get Booker T fired back up so he can beat Benoit. Benoit trips Booker after the match and stomps on him, and Stevie Ray pulls Benoit off Booker before checking on him.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Justin Castillo of Tulsa, Oklahoma is this week's Nitro Party pack winner.

"Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Bret "The Hit Man" Hart are alone in the skybox. Hogan tells "Macho Man" Randy Savage that he will be known as the biggest mistakes in his career after turning on the nWo and taking "Rowdy" Roddy Piper as a tag team partner. Hogan then brings in Miss Elizabeth, and says that Elizabeth knows how to stick it to Savage and how Hollywood likes her, revealing that Miss Elizabeth has jumped ship to nWo Hollywood.

Fit Finley retains the WCW World Television Championship against Norman Smiley.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the third hour.

Tony Schiavone interviews Sting. Sting speaks for the first time in quite some time, telling The Giant not to let his mouth overrun his rear end. He talks about how he had blonde hair, was a nice guy and was a bit of a brat who was beating up big guys like him. Now he's grown his hair out, changed his image and became a whole lot meaner. Sting tells The Giant that if he's going to use him as dental floss, he might as well take a shower and work his way down. Sting says he's a lot cockier, and he's got The Giant's number. At The Great American Bash, he owns The Giant.

Tony Schiavone interivews "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. He says he will put more moves on "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Bret "The Hit Man" than Barry Sanders, and that he'll hit them upside the head so much they'll both think they were playing hockey with the Detroit Red Wings. He says there will be a lot of treachery, backstabbing, conning, and kneading from Hogan. Piper tells Dennis Rodman there are no green-haired Scotsman where he comes from, and tells him to take the plaid off. He also asks Rodman if he's been getting any mail lately (a reference to Karl Malone of the Utah Jazz). Piper insists again that "Macho Man" Randy Savage is nuts just before Savage makes his way to the ring. Savage tells Piper he doesn't know him like he thinks he does, but Piper says nobody really knows him. Nevertheless, they have to stick together just once for the tag team match at The Great American Bash. Savage admits he is not in a good mood, and that Piper isn't his friend. Piper says he'll team with him, and he doesn't mind tagging with him, but after that, Savage belongs to him. Savage then says that since they're in Detroit, Michigan and that it's "Murder City," they might as well go at it tonight. Once again, nWo Hollywood is at the light and pyro controls, and Hogan calls them "a couple of sissies," and tells Savage that nWo Hollywood is where it's at. He says he is in a giving mood, and gives Miss Elizabeth to Eric Bischoff so that Bischoff could do what Savage couldn't, mockingly stating they don't need Viagra. Bischoff and Elizabeth lock lips, but Savage isn't impressed, and tells Hogan and Elizabeth that he got over Elizabeth a long time ago, but he'll never get over Hogan. He also tells Piper he's damn sure not over him, and punches him in the face. Piper gets back up and punches Savage back. As Savage and Piper are about to go at it, nWo Hollywood is enjoying every moment of what's going on between them.

Dean Malenko beats Disco Inferno with the Texas Cloverleaf.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

"Hollywood" Hukl Hogan is in the skybox with a bunch of women. Hogan says he hit the nWo Wolfpac from everywhere, as he is the man that made them and professional wrestling. He says he has body slammed Hollywood, and that the newest member of nWo Hollywood will also take Hollywood by storm. We see a video package on the set of "Shadow Weathers," and we find out that man is Scott Steiner. Scott says he will show Hollywood what he's all about, and Hogan says Scott Steiner is catching on faster than anyone else he's ever tutored. We then go back to the skybox, who says that Hollywood opened the doors and he let his friends through, and that Scott Steiner is the new man in town in Hollywood. Scott Steiner shows up in the skybox, and Hogan tells Scott Steiner he can have anything anywhere at anytime. Scott Steiner says it's great to be part of the black-and-white.

Golberg retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship against Chavo Guerrero Jr. Eddie Guerrero is seen cheering during the match after Goldberg hits Chavo with the Spear.

nWo Wolfpac shows up. Kevin Nash tells Diamond Dallas Page it's crunch time, and tells Page to come on out and take the colors of the Wolfpac. Page shows up, and calls Tony Schiavone to the stage so he can make his decision. Page says he's feeling a lot of love, especially from "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Page says Savage leaving nWo Hollywood reminded him of the Savage he once knew who knew how to make him laugh and had a big heart, and proved it when he let Konnan, Curt Hennig and Rick Rude into the Wolfpac. When he got Luger into the Wolfpac, which in turn brought Sting to the fold, it blew his mind, and inside, he feelt something big. Before Page can make his decision, however, he is attacked from behind with steel chairs by "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman. Sting and Konnan scare Hogan and Rodman to the back, and the Wolfpac checks on Page as the show ends.

Triple H tells Hawk not to have aneurysm, and that they have their title shot. Suddenly, Skull and 8-Ball show up and says they beat Road Dogg and Billy Gunn before L.O.D. 2000 did, and says they should be the ones with the title shot. DX have a brief huddle, and tells both teams to suck it since they can't fight all four of them at once. Suddenly, WWF Commissioner Sgt.
