Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for June 29, 1998

The show begins with a helicopter cam focusing on an 18-wheeler containing Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone, along with a police escort.

We see a performance by The Nitro Girls. Baseball player Wade Boggs is spotted in the crowd by commentary.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Kevin Greene, who is not happy with happened to him in the ring last week. He praises Goldberg for saving him last week, and says he's the best wrestler in the last 30 years. He mentions his past with Goldberg as roommates when they were in the Los Angeles Rams, and mentions his and Goldberg's tag team match against The Giant and Curt Hennig at Bash at the Beach.

Kanyon beats Horace. Sic Boy and Kidman go after Kanyon after the match, but Kanyon makes quick work of them only to be attacked by Riggs. Raven shows up as the numbers game catches up to Kanyon, and Raven tells Kanyon that where he walks and stands, he walks and stands alone. He says that would have been admirable a generation ago, but today it is foolish. He then hits Kanyon with an Evenflow DDT.

We see helicopter cam footage of the 18-wheeler and the police escort.

We get another shot of the helicopter following the 18-wheeler and the police escort. Meanwhile, "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and nWo Hollywood grab a bunch of crowbars so they can tear the 18-wheeler up when it arrives at the arena.

We hear a fan talk about who will win between the team of Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone and the team of "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman at Bash at the Beach.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Stevie Ray, who admits he has a problem with "The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Steve "Mongo" McMichael. He says he can beat both of them one-on-one when he wants to, but his brother Booker T wants to do it in a tag team match. He says Booker T goes with everything he does because they are Harlem Heat, and he issues the challenged for the tag team match, assuming Benoit and Mongo have the guts. He promises we will see Harlem Heat at their very best.

Little Dragon beats Eddie Guerrero. During the match, Chavo Guerrero Jr. shows up riding a hobby horse (which he deems "Pepe") saying "Come on, little trooper!" towards Eddie while making horse jokes, allowing Little Dragon to roll Eddie up as he is distracted and trying to steal Pepe. After the match, Eddie hits Little Dragon with the stick - the head being whisked off into the crowd and picked up by security - from the hobby horse, before Chavo gets the stick and the horse head back and runs away from Eddie.

Chris Jericho is seen talking to Ultimo Dragon in the locker room. Jericho tells Ultimo Dragon he will give him a title shot on Thunder if he beats Dean Malenko, as Ultimo Dragon is his favorite wrestler.

This week's Thunder will take place in Columbus, Georgia.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls, this time in the crowd.

Richard Rodella and Rick Rodriguez from San Francisco, California are this week's Nitro Party Prize Pack winners. We see some footage of their Nitro party.

The Giant quickly beats Sumo Fuji and Judo Suwa. Wade Boggs is seen shaking hands with Curt Hennig and Rick Rude in the front row before the match. After the match, Hennig and Rude attack The Giant's quickly dominated opponents before tossing them out of the ring. Hennig then tells the people that if they have a problem, they should bring it into the ring right now. He then says Goldberg and Kevin Greene will meet the same fate at Bash at the Beach. He then says Greene is a piece of garbage and that he is a football player who wishes he was a wrestler, and if he or anyone wants to enter his sport, they should bring it into the ring and bring it now. He gives Wade Boggs a pass as Kevin Greene shows up, then Hennig dares him to get in the ring so he can squash him like a grape. He rushes into the ring, with Goldberg following close behind. When Goldberg hits the ring, Rude, Hennig and The Giant clear out of the ring.

We hear another fan talk about who will win between the team of Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone and the team of "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman at Bash at the Beach.

"Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff show up. Hogan says that when some "filthy stinky truck driver" showed up, he's skip school and knocks his teeth out. He then goes on to say he made Hollywood, pro wrestling and the city of Tampa, Florida famous, and when Karl Malone and Diamond Dallas Page show up, he'll make Malone famous when he meets him in the parking lot and dumps the trailer on his back. He'll then drag DDP out with one arm and Malone out with the other, and everyone from New York to Florida will hear him break them in half. He says nWo Hollywood is in the back with crowbars, spark plus and extra cans of gas in case the truck can't make it into the building, where they'll give them a red carpet welcome where Malone will become the biggest loser of his career by shining his shoes. Hogan then says Malone embarrass himself in the finals and on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and asks why he would embarrass himself by stepping in his world and getting in the ring with Dennis Rodman. He says black and white are the true nWo colors, and says he'll beat up DDP and Malone and give Rodman the night off.

We see the 18-wheeler and the police escort again, and it is announced that Karl Malone and Diamond Dallas Page are almost here.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

Sting and Lex Luger beat The British Bulldog and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart. Before the match, it is announced that Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone have arrived in the greater Tampa, Florida area.

We hear yet another fan talk about who will win between the team of Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone and the team of "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman at Bash at the Beach.

Saturn beats Reese in an upset win. The rest of Raven's Flock shows up after the match, and the numbers game catches up. Raven shows up and says it's time for Saturn to take accountability for his life, saying it's his fault he was unpopular and poor, and that his dead beat him and that their friendship his over. He says friendship is a two-way street, and he gave and gave and gave only for Saturn to do nothing but take. He then hits Saturn with an Evenflow DDT.

We see the 18-wheeler and the police escort yet again.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

El Vampiro beats Brad Armstrong in his Nitro debut.

We see a video package of the feud between the team of "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman and the team of Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone.

Disco Inferno and Alex Wright beat Shiima Nabunaga and Tokyo Magnum. Before the match, Magnus dances with Disco and Wright only to get kicked in the gut. After the match, the music switches between both Disco Inferno and Alex Wright's, starting with Disco's, even though Alex Wright got the pinfall.

We see footage from earlier today of Mark Tenay asking fans who will win between the team of "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman vs. the team of Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone.

Ultimo Dragon beats Dean Malenko by count-out after Chris Jericho shows up and makes fun of the fact that Dean's father is buried in Tampa, Florida, which causes Dean to chase him to the back.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the third hour.

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit and Steve "Mongo" McMichael beat Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) after Bret "The Hit Man" Hart hits Booker T in the back with a steel chair behind the referee's back.

Dean Malenko find Chris Jericho and Ultimo Dragon in the locker room - with the former going back on his promise of a Cruiserweight title shot for the latter - and beats both of them up before chasing after Jericho again.

It's time for the debut edition of nWo Late Night, with host Eric Bischoff and Miss Elizabeth. Tonight's special guest is Scott Steiner. He says comparing Karl Malone to Dennis Rodman is like comparing apples to oranges or winners to losers, as Rodman has beaten Malone like a rented basketball commercials. He says Rodman is doing movies with Jean-Claude Van Damme while Malone is doing Rogaine commercials, and says Malone has a lawsuit coming because he is not delivering as "The Mailman." Scott Steiner also says that Malone will not deliver at Bash at the Beach, either. Scott Steiner says his next movie co-star is as genetically superior and good-looking as he is, and will bring him onto nWo Late Night next week.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Booker T. He's not as worried about his brother Stevie Ray as he is Bret "The Hit Man" Hart, who has been hitting him from behind with steel chairs. He calls Bret "a sissified punk," and wants him in the squared circle to see if he the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. Stevie Ray confronts Booker for challenging him to a match when he could just take him out backstage. As Booker T and Stevie Ray argue, Bret shows up and accepts the challenge, telling him to put the TV title if he wants, but tells him not to cry after he loses because he's stepping into the ring with the best technical wrestler in the history of professional wrestling. Stevie Ray argues with Booker T again, wanting him to sneak attack Bret, but Booker says he'll do this the right way.

Backstage, "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan tells Eric Bischoff that Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone will pay as Bischoff tells him not to sweat them. Hogan suddenly has an idea of how to handle the two of them.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Goldberg retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship against Glacier. During the match, it is announced that Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone are within the general vicinity of the arena.

"Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff make their way to the ring again. Bischoff and Hogan call out Malone, hoping they would make a quick kill tonight. He says Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone failed to show, and that he'll turn Dennis Rodman loose so they'll beat their brains out in San Diego, California. The 18-wheeler containing DDP and Malone is seen pulling up to the arena as Bischoff and Hogan continue to mock DDP and Malone, calling them losers as he boasts that he will wipe them out at Bash at the Beach. nWo Hollywood is seen outside of the arena as the 18-wheeler and the police escort shows up, but they all scatter when the truck pulls up. DDP and Malone enter the arena with steel chairs, and they quickly make their way to the ring, unbeknownst to Hogan and Bischoff. They clap their chairs together, and Bischoff is tossed out of the ring, leaving Hogan alone. Hogan tries to escape, but Karl Malone won't let him. Hogan and Malone eventually lock up, and Malone gets the upper hand on Hogan with a scoop slam before knocking him out of the ring with a few clotheslines. Afterwards, DDP tells Hogan he's just been slam dunked, and says it's a shame Rodman couldn't be here tonight. He and Malone then extend an open invitation to Dennis Rodman for next week. Malone tells Rodman that at Bash at the Beach, size does matter, and DDP says Rodman and Hogan will feel the bang.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for October 6, 1997

WCW extends its thoughts and prayers to the family of Brian Pillman, 1962-1997.

The show starts with a performance by The Nitro Girls.

Eric Bischoff and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan show up. Hogan says he has been here week after week putting the WCW World Heavyweight Championship on the line, and that Sting is too afraid to face him. He also announces that he has heard that "Rowdy" Roddy Piper is on his way here to Minneapolis, Minnesota tonight and that he is at the wrong place at the wrong time. Hogan awaits him with bated breath as he will read that "skinny little punk" the riot act and wants Bischoff to be by his side when he does it.

Booker T beats Jeff Jarrett after Steve "Mongo" McMichael shows up and chews out Debra McMichael. When Debra slaps Mongo and Jarrett is about to go at it with Mongo, Mongo punches Jarrett and sends him right back into the ring, allowing Booker T to get the roll-up and the win.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: Lex Luger! Jeff Jarrett! Disco Inferno! Ray Traylor! Chris Jericho!

Alex Wright beats Billy Kidman. Raven and ECW wrestler Perry Saturn are both seen in the front row during the match. Also, Debra McMichael and Steve "Mongo" McMichael are seen arguing backstage, and when Jeff Jarrett shows up, Mongo says he will have a way to settle everything at Halloween Havoc.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

"The Cat" Ernest Miller beats Mortis. During the match, it is announced that Disco Inferno has signed for a match with Miss Jacqueline at Halloween Havoc according to the WCW Executive Committee. For the first time in WCW history, a female competitor is in a match for a title that has always been held by males. After the match, Miller chases after James Vandenberg.

The nWo makes an announcement stating that "Macho Man" Randy Savage will beat Diamond Dallas Page.

Scott Hall and Syxx show up. Hall announces that Kevin Nash is at home recuperating from an injured knee, and that he is hurt as well, as indicated by his taped-up ribs. He would be at home recuperating, but he refuses to let down the fans. As for how they got hurt at the same time, it happened at Nash's house when Nash fell off his stool and Hall laughed so hard he put his back out when they watch old tapes of "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko, and tells Zbyszko and Lex Luger that they're sitting at home while the nWo carries the load, and if he has to crawl to Las Vegas to take on Luger and Zbyszko at Halloween Havoc, they're still going down. Pyrotechnics then signal the start of the second hour.

Scott Hall beats Hector Garza after manhandling the referee and allowing Syxx to interfere during the match. After the match, Syxx kicks the referee in the back of the head as he lifts Hall's arm in victory, then Hall puts the referee in the Torture Rack, revealing that he is not even hurt. As referees show up to restore order, Scott Hall takes a can of black spray paint and spray paints the letter "Z" on the back of the referee's shirt.

We take a special look at Bill Goldberg, and we learn that Goldberg played football for the University of Georgia and the Atlanta Falcons.

Diamond Dallas Page beats Disco Inferno by disqualification after "Macho Man" Randy Savage runs in and attacks Page. Disco Inferno retains the WCW World Television Championship. Savage exposes the concrete below the mats outside of the ring in an attempt to piledrive Page on it, but Interim WCW Commissioner "Rowdy" Roddy Piper stops Savage and allows Page to hit Savage with a Diamond Cutter on the concrete before Page and Piper flee through the crowd. The rest of the New World Order rush in to check on Savage and demand that a doctor come out. Medics show up with Miss Elizabeth and a stretcher, and Hogan instructs some of his men to head to the back to keep "Rowdy" Roddy Piper from escaping. The crowd sings "Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye)" as Savage is placed on the gurney.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Interim WCW Commissioner "Rowdy" Roddy Piper in the ring. Piper says he has never heard so many liars in his life, saying that Scott Hall has lied more than Minnesota has lakes and that Scott Hall didn't beat him like he says he did. As for The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) and their injuries, they will defend the WCW World Tag Team Championships, and if they don't, they will be stripped of the titles even if they are injured. Also, "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Diamond Dallas Page will have a "Piper Rules" Match at Halloween Havoc, where they no rules at all and the last man standing is the winner. Eric Bischoff and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan show up, and Okerlund immediately gets out of dodge as Bischoff says Hogan has something to say. Hogan tells Piper that the icon crap stops here, and asks him who he thinks he is barking orders because J.J. Dillon is hurt and what makes him think he can lay the law around here. Hogan tells Piper he is incapable of being an icon simply because he still exists, and while their careers did parallel for the last 15 years, Piper spent those years in his shadow. Hogan says the fans are here and the nWo is wide open because of him, and at Halloween Havoc, he will prove to Piper's wife and kids that he's the only icon as he ends his career and makes his come home for good, and if he wants to kick his ass, he'll do it right here. Hogan pushes Piper, Piper shoves Hogan, and Bischoff kicks Piper in the back of the knee before Hogan pulls Piper's shrt over his head, punches him and repeatedly rams the back of his head into the mat. When Bischoff goes for the roundhouse kick to Piper's head, however, Piper ducks and Bischoff kicks Hogan instead. Piper gets on top of Bischoff, then gets on top of Hogan before The New World Order shows up and pulls Hogan out of the ring. Piper grabs the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and swings it around, keeping the nWo at bay.

We are presented with another performance by The Nitro Girls as it is announced that if Steve "Mongo" McMichaels beats Jeff Jarrett at Halloween Havoc, Debra McMichael must leave World Championship Wrestling.

Mike Tenay reports on the history of lucha libre and the Mexican luchadors, from its beginnings made possible by Don Salvador Lutteroth (which has brought wrestling to Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico which is still performed there to this day), the lucha libre boom of the 1940s and the introduction of masked luchadors, the advent of lucha libre on television in the 1950s, the era of the second generation wrestler in the 1980s, and When Worlds Collide! in 1994 which saw WCW partner with EMLL, Promo Azteca, AAA and UWA. The difference between rudos and technicos (rule breakers and/or wrestlers with unorthodox styles and wrestlers with technical and/or traditional mat skills, respectively) is also defined in this report. Next week's report will focus on the importance and sacred status of the mask in lucha libre.

Eddie Guerrero retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Ultimo Dragon.

Curt Hennig retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship against "The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit. Vincent, Buff Bagwell and Konnan show up and attack Benoit after the match, then "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair makes a surprise appearance and fights all of them off before chasing Curt Hennig to the back and into the street at high speed, but Hennig is long gone by the time Flair is out of the arena. Flair heads back to the entrance ramp and is interviewed by "Mean" Gene Okerlund, and he grabs the microphone and tells Okerlund - and the fans - that he is taking this to the center of the ring as it's time to talk reality. He says that everybody in their adult lifetime should have a moment like this, and he calls out The Wolfpack (Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Syxx) and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan, telling them that this reality before saying that he has been put through hell and is still here tonight, much to their dismay. He says that he is Minneapolis, Minnesota born and bred, and that he will die Minneapolis dead. He tells Hennig and Hogan that since they have become the focus of his life, he tells them it's not about politics as they've wanted him out for ten years and that it's not about being the best as there has never been one better than him. He tells Hennig he is nWo for three more weeks and not for life, as at Halloween Havoc, he will come for Hennig whether WCW books it or not and that he will come to hurt him for a long time before coming for whatever is left of Hogan, saying he will have him in his face until they square off on Nitro.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for September 15, 1997

The first thing we see tonight is a picture of "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair in the hospital after what happened at Fall Brawl. Tony Schiavone says he got into the business 15 years ago because of Ric Flair after announcing for Major League Baseball, and after Flair went to bat for him, he became a wrestling announcer. Tony gets choked up, and says he can't do the show. He takes his headset off and leaves. Mike Tenay gives credit where credit is due, and says that Kevin Nash may have been accurate when he announced the death of The Four Horsemen.

Despite having a bum knee, Dean Malenko beats Disco Inferno with the Texas Cloverleaf.

The Faces of Fear (Meng and The Barbarian) beat Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) with a Tongan Death Grip to Stevie Ray when a pinfall attempt by Stevie Ray on The Barbarian can't be counted as they are two close to the ropes. Raven is seen in the front row during the match.

We see a performance by The Nitro Girls.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Diamond Dallas Page. Page says he has a disease that is eating him up inside, but what doesn't kill him makes him stronger and he's getting stronger everyday. That disease is "Macho Man" Randy Savage, and he's the cure. He wants to show the world that Savage is nothing more than a low-life coward, and says they should do it one more time at Halloween Havoc. He tells Savage to leave the Slim Jims as he'll give him something he can really snap into.

Rey Mysterio Jr. beats Juventud Guerrera.

Alex Wright retains the WCW World Television Championship against Steven Regal.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Ray Traylor, who is carrying a can of black spray paint. He says he was a member of The New World Order only in spirit in heart, and wants to know if any of them is man enough to face him one-on-one. He plans to make sure "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and anyone else associated with the nWo is put out of wrestling forever. He leaves, then throws the spray paint can down.

The Giant beats Konnan. Raven is seen in the front row once again. Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour, and "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko fills in for Tony Schiavone for that hour.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

Diamond Dallas Page beats Stevie Richards. Raven, who has been seen in the front row, climbs the guardrail and enters the ring. Raven walks up to a downed Stevie Richards and slaps him in the face before kicking him out of the ring.

The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) retain the WCW World Tag Team Championships against Mortis and Wrath.

Eric Bischoff shows up. He says it's great to be him, then brings out The New World Order. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and the gang show up, and Hogan grabs a sign saying "Hey McMahon...Bite Me" and shows it to the camera before he and the nWo head to the ring. Bischoff then brings out Curt Hennig, who comes out to "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair's music and in a "Nature Boy" ring robe. Bischoff says that it is a privilege to have Hennig aboard. Hennig brags about infiltrating his way into The Four Horsemen and attacking them in War Games, and that he is proud to be part of the nWo. He then takes off the robe - which he presents to Hogan as a sign of respect - to reveal an nWo tank top underneath. Hogan says this day has been "exactly perfect." Bischoff then address "Macho Man" Randy Savage, who accepts Diamond Dallas Page's challenge from earlier tonight. Bischoff then mentions Piper and the match between Hogan and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Hogan says that "Rowdy" Roddy Piper is a liar, and the last time we saw Piper, Scott Hall beat him in the ring. He says that the cage match between him and Piper will end like War Games, as the nWo is in the business of putting "old fossils" like Piper to rest. Hogan then says everyone is here to see the nWo, and that the nWo is for life. He says to bring on the steel cage so he can put Piper to pasture, and he hopes that Sting is watching as he won't want a piece of him when he's done with Piper.

We see a video package concerning the feud between "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan.

Eddie Guerrero retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Ultimo Dragon after Ultimo Dragon hurts his shoulder.

Nitro-Glycerin - Tuesday Nitro recap for July 22, 1997

The show starts with a performance from The Nitro Girls.

Eric Bischoff and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan show up and sit in the center of the ring. Bischoff says that Hogan kicking Lex Luger like a bag of dirt reminded him of the saying that the more things change, the more they stay the same as Hogan is still king of the hill. Hogan says only the names have changed to protect the ones he's already beaten, and says most of the guys in the back are there because of him. He says that in the 1990s, he is the man to set the pace for professional wrestling. He says that Konnan will put the icing on the cake for the New World Order and that Rodman is a great athlete, but he is still the man. To him, Lex Luger is just another man who wants what he has who can't lace his boots or live his life. As the #1 guy, he's used to people shooting bullets at him, but he's bulletproof as he is genuine. He tells Luger he's a lot smarter than him, and he wants him one-on-one in the ring so he can break his Torture Rack and break him in half. He accepts Luger's challenge, and tells Luger to kickstart himself for Sturgis, South Dakota as "the nWo World Heavyweight Championship" is on the line at Road Wild and he's ready to break him in half.

Konnan quickly beats Tsubasa with the Tequila Sunrise.

The Ultimate Dragon beats Steven Regal to win the WCW World Television Championship!

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, who says that tonight is the night the wrestling world has awaited. He announces that The Four Horsemen have made a selection, and introduces the newest fourth Horseman: Syxx? Flair and Okerlund can't believe it, and Flair tells Syxx he's at the wrong place at the wrong time. Syxx says there is no fourth Horseman coming out tonight, and tells Flair that the Horsemen are a thing of the past. Flair tells Syxx he's walking away, then pushes Okerlund out of the way and punches Syxx in the face. "The Crippler" Chris Benoit shows up, and Syxx says they wouldn't be doing this if The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) were here. Benoit asks "Why don't we just find out?"

We see another performance from The Nitro Girls.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: "The Crippler" Chris Benoit! Jeff Jarrett! Meng! Curt Hennig! The New World Order may be making an appearance!

The Giant beats The Great Muta by disqualification when Muta spits green mist into The Giant's eyes. After the bell rings, Vincent and "Macho Man" Randy Savage rush in and attack The Giant, but The Giant still manages to overpower all three men despite being blinded. Lex Luger checks on The Giant, but almost gets choke slammed until Luger is able to tell him who he is.

Dean Malenko beats Steve "Mongo" McMichael after Jarrett distracts Mongo and Debra McMichael distracts the referee. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Malenko after the match, but Jarrett and Debra butt in. Police officers and security have to keep Mongo away from them as Jarrett says that the Four Horsemen are jealous of him and that he needs somebody to watch his back as much as Malenko needs somebody to watch his. Malenko tells Jarrett that he needs nobody and is a man who stands by himself, but at the same time, he knows there is strength in numbers. Debra says she knows talent when she sees it, and if he joins them, they'll go straight to the top as long as he watches their backs. Jarrett says that Malenko has joined him, as everybody wants to be around a winner, but Malenko tells Jarrett he'll give him his answer when he's good and ready.

Eddie Guerrero beats Hector Guerrero. After the match, Dean Malenko shows up and attacks Eddie in revenge for taking the United States title from him before putting him in the Texas Cloverleaf. Hector tells him to let his nephew go, but Dean tells him to get out of the ring. Hector punches Malenko a few times, then tends to Eddie only for Eddie to push him into Malenko, who then starts attacking Hector.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls, and pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews head of the WCW Executive Committee, James J. Dillon. Stevie Richards suddenly shows up as he says there is a huge announcement. Richards says there is another: he has signed a contract with World Championship Wrestling. This is confirmed by Dillon, who asks where Raven is. Richards says that Raven is in the front row as he has bought him a ticket. The three of them meet with Raven, and Dillon hands him his contract, which has everything Raven wanted. Raven asks "Everything I wanted?" Richards tells him he did the contract negotiations, and that in the contract, Raven is making almost as much money as Richards is and that he also has a full-size rental car "with a cassette deck for those long trips." Raven then talks about human existence, tears up the contract and punches Richards again.

Lex Luger beats Scott Norton by disqualification after attempted interference from Buff Bagwell and Vincent. Vincent is placed in the Torture Rack, and Bagwell is tossed into Norton. Lex Luger then grabs a microphone, but "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan shows up and decides to make Luger special and have him in the ring his way before calling him "a Hollywood wanna-be." He tells Luger he is nothing and that he is in big trouble.

Konnan meets with The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall). He is about to tell them what happened to Syxx when they notice that a cameraman is around.

Lee Marshall calls from Charleston, West Virginia - the site of next week's Nitro - for the 1-800-COLLECT Road Report.

Mortis and Wrath beat Psychosis and La Parka. During the match, it is announced that The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) have accepted the challenge of "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and "The Crippler" Chris Benoit for later tonight. We then see Flair talking with Curt Hennig backstage, and we find out that Hennig was supposed to walk out from backstage earlier, not Syxx. After the match, La Parka smashes a wooden chair into the back of Mortis only to get hit with a big boot from Wrath.

Buff Bagwell beats Booker T after Booker T elbows the referee in the face and Scott Norton distracts Booker T. After the match, Bagwell tosses the referee out of the ring as he, Norton and Vincent continue to attack Booker.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Rey Mysterio, Jr., who is currently on crutches. Rey is rehabbing his injury but has no idea how long it will take, but he knows it is helping him. As he talks about how he loves the sport of professional wrestling and how he knows injuries come with the territory, Konnan shows up and and kicks Rey's crutches away while saying he is part of the nWo, whom he now considers family. La Parka, Villano IV, Villano V and Psychosis show up. Rey says that Konnan knows nothing about family, but Konnan says nWo is the only family he needs and tells the four of them that they had better have a good gameplan as The Wolfpack (Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Syxx) has his back. Rey tells Konnan he will pay.

Curt Hennig quickly beats Michael Wallstreet in his WCW singles match debut as Diamond Dallas Page makes his way to the ring from the crowd, and Page and Hennig brawl until Page hits Hennig with the Diamond Cutter. Officials and security then have to keep Page from Hennig.

We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.

The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) retain the WCW World Tag Team Championships against "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and "The Crippler" Chris Benoit as Flair once again focuses squarely on Syxx. Stev "Mongo" McMichael pulls Syxx off of Flair as Syxx has Flair in the Buzzkiller, then The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) show up on the entrance ramp as The Outsiders dare them to come to the ring.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for May 12, 1997

This episode is one hour long due to the NBA playoffs.

Ring announcer Michael Buffer welcomes the audience to the show, then "Macho Man" Randy Savage - now without crutches. and Miss Elizabeth arrive. Savage says he is healed, and when Diamond Dallas Page attacked him last week, it pumped him full of adrenaline that he was able to slap him upside the head beat him up with his own crutches. He then calls out Page for later tonight.

It is announced that Eric Bischoff has informed World Championship Wrestling that he was contacted by Sting, and that Sing wants to conduct a one-on-one interview with Bischoff.

We hear pre-recorded comments form "Lord" Steven Regal, who says that Ultimate Dragon holds something dear to him in the World Television Championship. While he is not as athletic as Dragon, he can outwrestle him. He says that he is leaving the nobility for a while and going back to his "old, dirty rotten scoundrel self" who was able to beat people twice his age as he warns The Ultimate Dragon to watch himself.

The Ultimate Dragon beats Juventud Guerrera with the Dragon Sleeper thanks to some help from Sonny Onoo.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interivews "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Kevin Greene. Greene says he has never lost in Charlotte, North Carolina, and tells the New World Order that only three things are definitive: taxes, death and him breaking his foot off in the nWo's ass. Flair tells The Outsiders (Scott Hall and Kevin Nash) and Syxx that the three of them will be there at Slamboree. Piper says that he's had quite a few fights in Charlotte, and tells the New World Order that this isn't The Wizard of Oz and he's not Dorothy. On the subject of the three of them being dinosaurs and the nWo being young lions according to Kevin Nash, Piper considers himself a Tyrannosaurus Rex and that he will eat them up. The Outsiders and Syxx are seen on the video screen to mock Piper, Flair and Greene, and say they would be at Slamboree, but "there wasn't enough cheese to go with that whine." They say that Piper, Flair and Greene have done plenty of whining and crying and after Slamboree, they'll have plenty to whine about when they snuff them out. Nash says that Greene might as well not show his face in Charlotte, because next Sunday, their match is no-disqualification and no count-out and "somebody's gonna get beat in the middle," as The Wolfpack (Hall, Nash, Syxx) are the ones calling the shots.

During Steve "Mongo" McMichael vs. Dean Malenko, Mongo accidentally knocks the referee out with one of Dean Malenko's boots. This leads to Reggie White of the Green Bay Packers running into the ring and laying out Mongo, before pushing Jeff Jarrett off the apron. By the time the referee has come to, Reggie White is out of the ring and Malenko has Mongo in a jackknife pin. Dean Malenko beats Steve "Mongo" McMichael. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Reggie White after the match, who says that people can talk about him all they want, but when it comes to the Green Bay Packers fans and his family, he takes it personally, and tells Mongo to leave the fans out of this. Reggie knows what he's up against, and after he calls the Packers vs. the Chicago Bears the best rivalry in football, he says this Sunday will prove that the Packers are better than Mongo's Chicago Bears.

Before the next match, James Vandenberg reveals the identity of his and Konnan's mysterious ally, whom he deem sthe deadliest man signed to pro wrestling - Wrath.

Wrath quickly beats Scotty Riggs. Glacier shows up immediately after the match and stares a hole through Wrath from the entrance ramp.

Members of the Baltimore Ravens are seen in the front row before the next match.

The Dungeon of Doom (Konnan and Hugh Morrus) beat Ice Train and Alex Wright by submission. During the match, Alex Wright shows more heelish behavior and also brings back his dancing gimmick, much to the chagrin of Theodore Long, which leads to Wright suffering a bum knee. When Long confronts him, Wright leaves Ice Train and Teddy Long high and dry, allowing Konnan to get the submission win for his time. Wright says everyone knows he's the greatest after the match.

It is discovered backstage that The Wolfpack (Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Syxx) have attacked "Rowdy" Roddy Piper backstage, targeting his hip in the process.

Eric Bischoff, now strangely clean-shaven compared to his more recent appearances, shows up. Bischoff says he promised the world that they would hear from Sting and that he is a man of his word, and if they want to hear Sting talk for the first time in month, it will happen, as he wants to know where Sting has been as the nWo was looking for him. Sting's entrance music plays for the first time in months, and it turns out to be the fake Sting. Bischoff tells him that he did not need to bring the bat, as this is an interview. He then asks the fake Sting if it's true that he has been compared to "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan throughout his career, and if it's true that the people who make those comparison believe he will never accomplish what Hogan has. The fake Sting nods his head "yes" to both questions. Bischoff then asks if it's true that way down deep inside in places where no one can see that he knows that he will never measure up to Hogan. Before he can answer that question, the real Sting shows up. The fake Sting readies his weapon, but the real Sting pulls out his own baseball bat. The real Sting fakes out the faker and hits the reverse DDT, and Eric Bischoff runs out through the crowd as the show ends.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for April 21, 1997

We see footage of James J. Dillon showing up at the arena earlier in the day to start tonight's show.

Dean Malenko retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship against Yuji Nagata with the Texas Cloverleaf. During the match, Reggie White of the Green Bay Packers is seen in the front row.

Glacier quickly beats Ciclope after the crowd chants "Glacier sucks!" After the match, the masked man from Uncensored shows up (who used to be Adam Bomb in the World Wrestling Federation) and gets in the ring, but it is a set up, as Glacier is attacked from behind by Mortis. James Vandenburg shows up as the masked man, now unmasked, has his way with Glacier as Mortis and Vandenberg take Glacier's mask. Both Mortis and the mystery man then gouge Glacier's eyes, even going so far as sticking one of the spikes in Glacier's helmet into one of them.

It is announced that James J. Dillon has been named Chairman of the WCW Executive Committee by Turner Sports.

Nick Patrick shows up in blue jeans and a sea-green polo shirt with purple trim, still petitioning to get his referee job back in WCW. Nick Patrick apologizes to any WCW employees who were hurt by his actions, but there are a few people that he will not apologize to, now or ever. When he first joined the New World Order, he thought it would be the perfect opportunity for "the little guy" to speak out when they could not, but now it seems to him that the people he wanted to speak out against are the same people the nWo are catering to, like "Macho Man" Randy Savage, whom he knew all about when Savage first came to WCW, saying that Savage has proved him correct recently. He says that the nWo caters to men like Eric Bischoff who are mad with power and letting everyone know he's the boss while forcing people to his will, like Randy Anderson, whom Patrick admits he never wanted to fight. He also refers back to when he fined Savage the biggest fine in WCW, saying that the fine was revoked and that he was told to keep his mouth shut. Patrick then proclaims that if you want someone to stand up for WCW, simply take a look at what he has done: he stayed when people walked out, he still worked when Savage injured his neck, and he took choke slams and Jackknife Power Bombs from The Giant and Kevin Nash, respectively. Patrick says he's still here, and he is a man who stands for what he believes in, and will do so if WCW gives him that opportunity again. "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko argues with Patrick, unwilling to trust him.

The Ultimate Dragon retains the WCW World Television Championship against Bobby Eaton with the Dragon Sleeper. Referee Mickie Jay takes a picture of both The Ultimate Dragon and Sonny Onoo at Onoo's behest.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "Lord" Steven Regal, who gets a shot at the Television title at Slamboree. He berates America for "not being able to beat the Japanese," and plans to take back what is rightfully "ours," as he considers himself the only person keeping WCW together at the moment. He then calls the American fans "xenophobic little toads." He tells The Ultimate Dragon he will bend him in too.

Next Monday, Nitro will be live for one hour from 7 PM to 8 PM Eastern due to the NBA Playoffs.

Meng (accompanied by a more conservatively-dressed Jimmy Hart) beats Chris Jericho by submission with a nerve hold. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Jimmy Hart after the match, and Hart says that he and The Taskmaster will sent a message to "The Crippler" Chris Benoit. The Taskmaster shows upw ith Jacqueline, saying that Meng, despite making a few mistakes in wrestling in the ring, is the baddest apple in the business. He dares anyone to step up, saying that when ten men went into a dojo with Meng, two came out. As for Benoit's message to him concerning karma, he had the same kind of karma at his age, and it was all bad. He says he let his son and Woman go. He then tells Meng that he has to feel the power. Meng is about to do something when Jacqueline tells Meng not to do it. Meng tells Jacqueline - in English - that if it wasn't for her and The Taskmaster, he could take the both of them down. Meng and Hart leave first, followed by The Taskmaster and Jacqueline.

We see a video package of "The Crippler" Chris Benoit.

This Saturday on WCW Saturday Night: Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock)! The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner)! Lex Luger! Mortis and James Vandenberg!

Before the next match, Hugh Morrus and Konnan of the Dungeon of Doom fight The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) before they can make their way to the ring. Security have to get The Steiners out of the area. Long-time friends and family welcome Scott at the entrance ramp.

Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock) vs. The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) ends with Hugh Morrus and Konnan of the Dungeon of Doom. Both teams in the match end up teaming together against Konnan and Morrus as they take the brawl to the back.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews James J. Dillon. Dillon says that today has been a very busy day, and that all aspects of the company will be re-evaluated. Regarding Nick Patrick's petition for reinstatement into WCW, it is being taken under advisement. He then says that his lawyers have looked into the contract of Eric Bischoff, and that there is both good news and bad news. The good news is that Eric Bischoff has absolutely no authority with World Championship Wrestling. The bad news is that Eric Bischoff has an iron-clad contract and that there is no buy-out clause, and unless he breaches his contract, it is valid. As Dillon announces that Bischoff will retain his title as Executive Vice President and continue to get a paycheck, Bischoff shows up. Dillon says that he has looked further into the New World Order, and that some of the contracts Bischoff finalized before his suspension are all valid, and that the nWo, by and large, is here to stay, with two exceptions. Big Bubba and Michael Wallstreet, unlike Buff Bagwell and Scott Norton, did not have "windows of opportunity" to join the nWo and simply jumped ship, and are therefore under contract to WCW and must return there. Eric Bischoff takes the microphone and simply tells Dillon "Bite me." Bischoff says Dillon wanted to fire him, but he couldn't. Dillon tells Bischoff that if he has something to say, say it. Bischoff tells Dillon he can't stop him from doing whatever he wants with the nWo, and that he made WCW the #1 wrestling company on the planet. When he asks if Dillon has a problem with him making the nWo bigger than WCW, Dillon says yes, and Bischoff tells him "Bite me" again. Bischoff then asks Dillon if he thinks that he can fill his shoes, Dillon says he is the first person to admit that he is the most powerful and influential person for the last two years and has accomplished a lot, considering that the standard of excellence was set up in Stamford, Connecticut (a reference to WWF). However, Bischoff has forgotten that his effort was that of a team, and that he betrayed the trust of the team. Bischoff says "Bite me" yet again. Dillon says that Bischoff has tried to single-handedly destroy the legacy of WCW as he leaves, and if Bischoff thinks he can fill his shoes, he's wrong, because what is in Bischoff's shoes stinks, and no Odor Eaters in the world can take that smell away. Dillon then states that he has two shoes of his own, that he is man enough to determine what steps they take and that he will take accountability for those steps, unlike Bischoff.

Jeff Jarrett beats Scotty Riggs with the Figure Four Leg Lock. During the match, Reggie White of the Green Bay Packers is seen in the crowd again, and when Steve "Mongo" McMichael walks down the entrance ramp with the steel Halliburton briefcase, Reggie jumps the barricade and snatches it from him, forcing Mongo to retreat.

James J. Dillon shows up during Syxx vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. after Kevin Nash hits Rey with a big boot to the back of the head followed by a Jackknife Power Bomb. He brings out medical help for Rey and sends security officers to keep Syxx from attacking Rey, who has to be taken out of the arena on a stretcher. Dillon tells Nash and Syxx that their behavior will no longer be tolerated, but Nash and Syxx don't care.

We see a video package of Lex Luger.

In another announcement paid for by the New World Order, we see "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan on the set of McCinsey's Island starting Hogan, Robert Vaughn and Grace Jones. Hulk announces that Grace Jones is a supporter of the New World Order. He says the WCW is full of cowards, saying Sting is hiding, Lex Luger doesn't want a part of him, and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper doesn't want a part of him either. He says that the movie is nWo-produced and directed. Robert Vaughn is seen wearing an nWo T-shirt, as well as the crew.

The New World Order show up. Syxx says that "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper were around last week, talking about how the new generation guys don't have any respect. Syxx says he knows a bit about the history of this sport, and asks what kind of respect it is for Flair to rip off Buddy Roger's gimmick, nickname and finisher from him. He says he has no respect for Piper either, and that he isn't afraid of either of them. Kevin Nash tells Piper that he doesn't think too much about Piper and Flair's "laying down the asphalt and cutting down trees," and that when he came into the business, there was nothing but potholes in the road, saying Flair and Piper strip-mined the business and left nothing for the young guys. He says that WCW was nothing but a bunch of guys pushing their sons, and if you didn't have a dad in the business, you couldn't even get an opportunity. He says Scott Hall was here for a year, proved himself, and got a pay cut, so he left for New York and Nash followed suit. There, he and Hall found punishment trying to dig the business out of the funk the older guys left it in. Where he comes from - the south side of Detroit - you have to beat respect out of him. He says it's the new generation's turn to shine, and while the older guys in WCW live it up, the nWo says they have no problem flying commercial and going to the arena three in a rented Ford Taurus while trying to patch the potholes that the older guys left behind.

Diamond Dallas Page quickly beats Psychosis with a Diamond Cutter from the top rope. "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth are sighted in the crowd after the match, and Savage asks Page if he can feel the madness all around him, and that if he can't, ask Kimberly, because she felt it. Page tells Savage he isn't going to bait him again, and that if he wants a piece of him, then he and Elizabeth should hobble into the ring right now. Savage wants to go, but he is surrounded by security.

"Rowdy" Roddy Piper shows up with "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and Carolina Panthers player Kevin Greene. Flair says there's nothing to talk about, and dares the New World Order to get into the ring and "pave the highway." The New World Order shows up, but then bring out...Scott Hall, who hasn't been seen in weeks. Despite being outnumbered, Flair, Piper and Greene somehow fight The New World Order, holding the members who don't get into the ring off until the closing seconds of the show.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for April 7, 1997

The show begins with the aftermath of Diamond Dallas Page vs. "Macho Man" Randy Savage at Spring Stampede.

The Dungeon of Doom (Konnan and Hugh Morrus) beat "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright and Psychosis. During the match, we see footage from earlier today where Diamond Dallas Page says that it is not over between himself and "Macho Man" Randy Savage as he enters the building.

Rey Mysterio Jr. beats "Lord" Steven Regal by disqualification when Regal refuses to break the Regal Stretch after Rey grabs the bottom rope. The New World Order - at least its main contingent - shows up to the arena, during the match, and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan says that they will take care of the family business, draw the line and bring the family back together. After the match, Prince Iaukea tries to make the save, but Regal puts Iaukea in the Regal Stretch. Two more referees have to get into the ring to break the hold. There is then news that another limousine is arriving at the arena, which contains the rest of The New World Order. "Macho Man" Randy Savage is now on crutches after what happened at Spring Stampede.

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit beats Ice Train. During the match, The New World Order gets together, and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan wants to know where everyone stands. "Macho Man" Randy Savage says that Eric Bischoff has gotten soft since his suspension, but Bischoff says he's gotten smart and not soft. Kevin Nash, who is standing in the back, is noticed walking away during their conversation.

We see footage from the world premiere for Double Team, where "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Dennis Rodman are spotted. We learn that Rodman is in the nWo because he wants to have fun, make a lot of money and doesn't want to be fined anymore. Hogan tells Rodman that nobody is in his league. Double Team is premiering in theaters July 13th.

The Taskmaster beats Hector Guerrero. Once again, Jacqueline pounds on The Taskmaster's opponent outside of the ring.

The New World Order shows up. Ted DiBiase says it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that there is turmoil within the family, and that they will all end it tonight as it is all for one and one for all and they will either walk out together or go their separate ways. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan says it's time to take care of family business, or else the "nWo World Heavyweight Championship". Hogan first focuses on Kevin Nash, who has problems being in Chicago around the time of Spring Stampede, and tells Nash that if he has a problem, it needs to be aired right now. Nash says he has no problem with Dennis Rodman and welcomes him to the nWo, but he sat in the hotel room with Syxx and apologizes if he was a little grouchy last week. Hogan says that he'll make sure Nash goes on an nWo Easter hunt next year. Hogan says Nash having no problem with Rodman solves half the equation, then asks why Scott Hall was nowhere to be found, and wants to know where Hall is. Nash says that Hall is "nWo 4 Lyfe," as he has known him for seven years. Hogan then says that if the rules haven't changed, the family is still a family, yet Nash is burning a hole through him. Hogan tells Nash that either he and Hall are in it "4 Lyfe," or Nash and Hogan need to get it on right now. Hogan gets ready for a fight, and Nash tells Hogan he doesn't have to love him to respect him, as where he comes from in Detroit, Michigan, you're only as big a man as your word. Nash tells Hogan he gave him his word then, and he's giving it now, as "nWo 4 Lyfe" means just that. Everyone makes up except for "Macho Man" Randy Savage, who is still angry with Eric Bischoff. Hogan then proclaims that Sting is on the boderline of getting stung as the crowd chants for him, then tells Savage that if he and Nash can see things the same way - while telling Nash he does not want to get it on with him - then Savage can bury the hatchet with Bischoff. Savage says he is willing to go with the flow, but just like how Bischoff is on probation with Ted Turner, he is on probation with him and Savage is on probation with Bischoff. Bischoff says that's good enough for him, and all is well with The New World Order...for now.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. He says that last week, he and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper bonded, and The New World Order knows because the word is out that they're ready to play ball one more time. Flair then introduces Piper to the ring, who says that it is time to strike, and Flair says that Kevin Greene wants to join in on the fun. Piper then says that he saw the confusion within The New World Order, and says they smell like six dead otters in the drainpipe and can't wrestle. He then says that if Ric Flair says Kevin Greene is okay with him, that's gold in his book. Suddenly, Kevin Greene shows up out of the blue, and makes it known that he's got Piper and Flair's back. Te three of them then dance around in the ring together before leaving.

Dean Malenko retains the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship after a swift kick to the head. Jericho has to be tended to by medical staff after the match.

High Voltage (Rage and Kaos) beat Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock) after Johnny Grunge sends himself through a table after Kaos rolls of it. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Public Enemy after the match. Grunge says it's all good, and Rocco Rock gives credit where credit is due, and challenges High Voltage to a Philadelphia Street Fighter next week after telling them they may have started something they can't finish.

Backstage, Prince Iaukea is tended to by medical staff, getting his rips taped up.

Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray) beat The Four Horsemen (Jeff Jarrett and a very late Steve "Mongo" McMichael) after Mongo shows up late, gets a few hits in, then tags Jarrett in order for Jarrett to fall victim to a Harlem Side Kick. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Jarrett, Mongo and Debra McMichael, and Jarrett says that he is tired of Mongo making him out to be an idiot, and says "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair would not approve of his behavior tonight. Jarrett asks where Mongo was, but Mongo never answers his question and says he will get his due and everyone in the locker room should be afraid of him.

The Ultimate Dragon takes advantage of Prince Iaukea's injured ribs to beat Prince Iaukea and become WCW World Television Champion!

Scott Steiner is attacked by Konnan and Hugh Morrus of The Dungeon of Doom before the next match. The Giant shows up to help, and when Hugh Morrus hits The Giant in the back with a steel chair, it has no effect. Konnan and Hugh Morrus are forced to retreat, and the match is thrown out.

Diamond Dallas Page shows up, battered and bruised and with his right arm in a sling from his match at Spring Stampede. Page says that last night, he faced one of the biggest superstars in professional wrestling, and if anyone ever said that he would be in the main event two years ago, they would be nuts. Page considers himself an anomaly that wasn't supposed to happen, and it happened to "Macho Man" Randy Savage. He tells Savage that if he found him grabbing Kimberly by the hair and slapping her upside the head, he would have killed him. He takes his sling off, and tells Savage that if he has any guts, he would get in the ring and face him again right now. Savage shows up on crutches and without Miss Elizabeth, but "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan shows up and tells him "this one is on me." The rest of The New World Order shows up, and tells Savage that he's taken care of the New World Order, and now Hulk will take care of Savage by facing Page himself. As Hogan rips his shirt, Sting shows up in the rafters on a cable, and rappels down to the aisle. Sting stands between the ring and The New World Order, and he tosses the baseball bat to the ring, where Page catches it. He then pulls another bat out and points it at Hogan before joining Page in the ring.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for February 24, 1997

Public Enemy (Johnny Grunge and "Flyboy" Rocco Rock) beat Steve "Mongo" McMichael and Jeff Jarrett when McMichael smacks Jarrett in the back with the steel Halliburton briefcase, refusing to recognize Jarrett as a member of The Four Horsemen. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair and "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson show up, and "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews the Horsemen. Mongo is still sore with Jarrett beating him at SuperBrawl VII, and doesn't exactly consider him "family." Flair tells Mongo they need team players and solidarity as he stays to his word that if Jarrett won, he would be a Horseman. Anderson says that The Dungeon of Doom and the New World Order are getting stronger, while they are getting weaker and Lex Luger and The Giant are now a team. Anderson admits that "The Crippler" Chris Benoit may never come back after what happened at SuperBrawl VII, before he tells Jarrett he earned his spot and commands Mongo and Jarrett to shake hands. Mongo says he'll mess with him, but he will make sure no one else will, and extends his hands. Jarrett and Mongo shake hands, then Anderson tells Jarrett that he has proven himself and that it is time to show the world. The Four Horsemen and Debra McMichael raise the four fingers in the air in a show of solidarity.

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan beats Galaxy. "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Duggan after the match, who is shocked by "Macho Man" Randy Savage turning on WCW, telling Savage that his heart is black. Duggan says he will not quit, stop or waver against the New World Order, as he tells "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and "Macho Man" Randy Savage not to get his way or he'll trample them. After saying that he is not responsible for the attack on Big Bubba, he says that he will kick the front door down when he takes on the nWo.

The encore presentation of SuperBrawl VII will air on pay-per-view on the nights of February 26th and February 27th.

The Faces of Fear (Meng and The Barbarian) beat Eddie Guerrero and Chris Jericho after Meng stops the Lionsault and Dean Malenko rushes into the ring to push Eddie Guerrero off the top rope during his frog splash in response to inadvertently costing him the Cruiserweight title at SuperBrawl VII.

Pyrotechnics signal the start of the second hour.

Prince Iaukea beats Pat Tanaka.

The Ultimate Dragon beats Dean Malenko by disqualification after Malenko snaps and chokes the life out of Ultimate Dragon, not letting go when the referee tells him to. Sonny Onoo gets on the apron to stop Malenko, but Malenko turns around and forearms him. After the match, "Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Malenko, and tells him that Eddie Guerrero was only trying to help him at SuperBrawl VII. Malenko says he is sick, tired and fed up with the lack of respect he has gotten recently. He tells Syxx he hasn't forgotten about him and what he said about his dad, and he plans to take the Cruiserweight title back from him. He then accuses Eddie of stealing the Cruiserweight title from him before leaving.

The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) approach the ring just before Diamond Dallas Page hits "Squire" David Taylor with the Diamond Cutter. Nash and Hall get on the apron, while "Macho Man" Randy Savage shows up with a can of black spray paint to attack Page from behind. A fan gets in the ring to fight the three of them, but he gets chased out of the ring before he is apprehended by security and ejected from the building. Savage then spray paints "nWo" on DDP's back, then Savage puts on an nWo tanktop before Hall and Nash position DDP for a top rope elbow drop from Savage.

After the commercial break, "Macho Man" Randy Savage and The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) are still in the ring as Diamond Dallas Page is being taken out of the arena on a stretcher. Hall then welcomes the crowd to another edition of "nWo Monday Nitro." He then asks for a round of applause for Savage, then says that the New World Order isn't stopping there, as they introduce "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan to the ring. Hall congratulates the nWo on a job well done at SuperBrawl VII, then Hogan says that the nWo is on a roll and compliments Sacramento on loving to party just like them. Hogan tells Savage that he should be justly rewarded for SuperBrawl VII, and award him with Miss Elizabeth, who is smiling for the first time in months as she, Eric Bischoff and Ted DiBiase head to the ring. Hall announces that all is well in the nWo, as when you're nWo, you're nWo for life and everyone in the nWo knows it. He then proclaims that Sacramento, California is "nWo territory."

Eric Bischoff shows up before Lex Luger and The Giant can have a tag team match against Harlem Heat (Booker T and Stevie Ray), and he shows up with the entire New World Order. He says he has a problem, but it is a very simple one to fix. He tells Lex Luger and The Giant that they are out of order, as the tag team titles belong to The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall). He says that Lex Luger was not cleared to compete at SuperBrawl VII, and wants the tag team titles back. Luger tells Bischoff that he'll have to put him on a stretcher to take the titles back, and gives him a proposition: he'll hand them the belt if every belt in WCW is put on the line at Uncensored. Eric Bischoff says they have a deal, and they hand over the tag team titles to Bischoff. He then tells Bischoff to put his best team together. Bischoff says they've got the stuff, and Scott Hall says they're easy to find as the nWo is "packing all the gold." Sting then shows up, baseball bat in hand, as Luger proposes that Bischoff put his team together right now, and Sting gets in the ring. He stands between WCW and nWo, then stares down "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan. Hogan hugs Sting, and it appears that Sting has joined the New World Order.

Nitro-Glycerin - Monday Nitro recap for January 20, 1997

The show starts with "Macho Man" Randy Savage - who has not been seen since Halloween Havoc - appearing out of the crowd and sitting in a steel chair in the center of the ring, much to the surprise of everyone, including commentary. Unlike previous appearances, he is wearing all black but is not part of the New World Order. Savage says he has been blackballed, and that he will not leave tonight until he talks to someone "with major stroke." He has no plans for the next two hours, and he plans to stay in the ring all night. He tells Eric Bischoff to kiss his ass before he sits in the chair and waits. Chavo Guerrero, Jr. heads to the ring for the opening bout against Maxx, but is confused by the sight of Savage in the ring. Savage refuses to leave the ring as Chavo tries to reason with him, but as Savage adamantly refuses to budge, Chavo gets irritated with him and this leads to a confrontation between Chavo and Savage where Savage knocks Chavo out and tosses him out of the ring to the delight of the crowd. Maxx shows up as soon as Savage sits back down, and tries to reason with Savage, saying that Chavo is his payday. Savage stands up and beats up Maxx, and this time he teases using the steel chair as a weapon only to sit back down. Maxx crawls out of the ring, then the referee tells him to leave only to be beaten up and tossed out as well. Head of Security Doug Dillinger shows up and tries to reason with Savage, but he gets beat up, too. "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright shows up and tries to reason with him, but he gets knocked down as well. At this point, Savage brandishes the steel chair as a weapon and gets ready to strike. The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) and The Amazing French Canadians (Jacques Rougeau and Carl Ouellet) show up ready to get Savage out of there, then Sting - the real Sting - is seen rappelling from the rafters to the commentary table. Sting walks to the ring and pulls out his bat, and referee Randy Anderson gets out of his way as he approaches the ring and points his bat at Savage. Sting then enters the ring, and whacks the bat on Savage's chair a few times as he circles him. He then points the bat at Savage's neck, which causes Savage to stand up and push his steel chair away. Sting then pushes Savage away with the bat, and it is evident that Sting is ready for him to strike back. He then hands Savage his bat and turns his back on him. Savage hands Sting his bat back, refusing to attack him. Sting then leaves, and Savage joins him, and they both leave through the crowd. At this point, Savage's loyalties are questioned as well as Sting's by commentary.

Chris Jericho beats "Das Wunderkind" Alex Wright after a series of rolling pinfalls from both men.

Scotty Riggs beats "Sting" by disqualification after Marcus Bagwell - now known as "Buff Bagwell" - shows up and goes after Riggs as his fellow New World Order comrades storm the ring while Riggs escapes into the crowd. During the match, it is announced that the real Sting and "Macho Man" Randy Savage have both left the arena. After the match, the New World Order surround Dave Penzer, forcing him to state that "Sting" has won by count-out.

"The Nature Boy" Ric Flair interviews Bob Probert of the Chicago Blackhwaks. While he's in Buffalo, New York tonight, he tells The New World Order to keep their heads up as he'll be stylin' and profilin' with Ric Flair the next time they're in town.

Jeff Jarrett and Eddie Guerrero vs. "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson and Steve "Mongo" McMichael ends with Debra McMichael placing her Miss Illinois sash on Anderson to halt the match as Anderson has Jarret in the Boston Crab. Before the end of the match, Eddie Guerrero runs to the back after Syxx shows up on top of a ladder again; however, Syxx's appearance is never caught by the camera crew.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, who shows up as "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson, Steve "Mongo" McMichael and Debra McMichael leave the ring and Woman and "The Crippler" Chris Benoit show up from the back. Flair says he is on the mend and putting his body back together so he can be "a real live fighting Horseman," but as he looks at the rest of the Horsemen every week, he admits that the Horsemen are not the unit they have been in the past. When he was with the old game, he knew that they took care of business before they focused on the women, but the new crew has it switched around. Anderson says this is a man's game in the world of professional sports, and says being a Horsemen is a career pinnacle to be respected and cherished. Anderson states that as long as he and Flair are part of the Horsemen, The Four Horsemen will endure. Mongo tells the crowd that he has finally come home, and says he is proud to be a Horseman. Debra says she knows what it takes to be a winner, and says that what happened to Jarrett tonight is not what winners do. Benoit tells Mongo that he is a winner when it comes to football, and that Debra when it comes to beauty pageants, but they are standing with four other winners in pro wrestling, and says that this is pro wrestling and that everything should be kept in perspective. Mongo tells Benoit they had Jarrett down and out, unlike the last two times Benoit wrestled him. Debra says that Woman is "a big-hearted lady with hips to match."

The Ultimate Dragon retains the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Dean Malenko.

"Lord" Steven Regal beats Jacques Rougeau by disqualification to retain the WCW World Television Championship after Col. Robert Parker tries to interfere only for it to backfire miserably after Regal gives him what for.

"The Crippler" Chris Benoit attacks The Taskmaster before the next match can take place, and the battle immediately makes it way into the stands - and the concourse, where the two men fight in the men's room yet again. Even Doug Dillinger can't stop either man as the brawl goes back out of the bathroom and back into the ring as both men throw beer from the crowd at each other. After the beer brouhaha, the match begins.

The Taskmaster beats "The Crippler" Chris Benoit after Jimmy Hart gives The Taskmaster the ring bell to counter Benoit's diving headbutt as Woman distracts the referee.

The New World Order show up, minus "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Scott Hall. Once again, the commentary table is bum rushed, and Ted DiBiase, Eric Bischoff and Kevin Nash take over on commentary.

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan beats Carl Ouellet after The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott Steiner) show up and distract the referee as Rick attacks Jacquess Rougeau while Scott Steiner helps Duggan by punching Ouellet from the apron. During the match, Eric Bischoff announces that the nWo have changed some matches. "Squire" David Taylor will be taking on Masahiro Chono instead of Psychosis. Also, Scott Hall will be replacing Scott Steiner tonight, and he will be facing Booker T.

Masahiro Chono beats "Squire" David Taylor with an STF. Before the match, Eric Bischoff orders Nick Patrick to replace Randy Anderson as the official referee for the match.

Scott Hall beats Booker T after referee Nick Patrick pulls a slow count on Booker T and allows Buff Bagwell to annoy Sister Sherri.

Lex Luger beats Stevie Ray with the Torture Rack, but it becomes evident that Stevie Ray never submitted, and Stevie Ray chases after Nick Patrick after the match. Lex Luger confronts referee Nick Patrick before the match, and Syxx replaces Ted DiBiase on commentary when Eric Bischoff asks Ted DiBiase to check and see if everything is good for "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan.

"Hollywood" Hulk Hogan shows up with Ted DiBiase and Vincent. Hogan rips his shirt and then poses for the crowd for a few seconds, then says the New World Order came into Chicago, Illinois like a Boeing 747. He boasts that he will bust The Giant up really badly at Souled Out, and if The Giant begs for mercy, he will get no quarter. As Hogan talks further about The Giant, The Giant shows up only to be stopped by security. The Giant eventually overpowers them, however, and the show ends with The Giant rushing into the ring.
