Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for February 16, 2022

CM Punk is in the ring at the start of the show. Punk talks about how he is straight edge just like he first did twenty years ago, then says he could sit here and feel pride that this helped shaped his career and others to follow. Punk then brings up MJF, saying that he tries to be like him but could never be able to think like him, then says he is proud of MJF for beating him in his hometown before saying he is really "shitty little Max from shitty little Long Island." Punk also brings up the fact that MJF used the Dynamite Diamond Ring - which he won with help from other people - to cheat to win, then mentions that he has the time and date for his rematch with MJF. He says that the match will take place at Revolution, then looks to the past and the toughest matches he has ever had in order to get MJF to learn something. He says that if MJF wants to be like Roddy Piper, he will have to be tethered to him. Punk then opens the box in front of him and produces two dog collars with a steel chain connected to them, proposing a Dog Collar Match between them. He then calls MJF out, saying he has one more thing to say and wants to look in his eyes when he does. MJF shows up, and Punk tells him to take it all in before producing a picture of MJF with Punk at an autograph signing, saying it was the greatest day of MJF's life, but for him, it was Sunday. He then says Revolution will be the worst day of MJF's life and that he will be sitting on a canvas stained with his blood, as the price he paid to meet him as a kid will be nothing to the price he pays at Revolution. MJF is about to say something, but he drops his microphone and walks away.

We see a video package chronicling the events between Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley and the events leading up to Bryan Danielson vs. Lee Moriarty.

Melissa Joan Hart is seen in the crowd before the next match.

Bryan Danielson beats Lee Moriarty with a triangle sleeper after knocking him out by kicking his head in. After the match, Danielson says he came to the ring to teach Moriarty a thing or two about violence, then says he asked Jon Moxley to team up with him to create a whole new AEW and teach young wrestlers about violence. Danielson then says he wants an answer from Moxley, and Moxley heads to the ring. Moxley admits he has never beaten Danielson, and says that while the locker room was scared of Danielson when he showed, he was excited to finally get his chance to face him, but now, Danielson wants to join forces with him. He says that he has listened to what Danielson had to say and that while it would be awesome to team up and cause destruction, he also thought about how the two of them could leave a legacy and give back to the business. Moxley admits that no matter how hard he tried, he could not find a reason to say no, but then he got to thinking why Danielson would want to team with him and not stand across the ring from him. He says that Danielson knows that he would do to him what he has done to everyone else for the last three years, and if that is the case, he has already beaten Danielson. Moxley wants to know if Danielson wants to really team up with him or keep from being destroyed, and that he is not saying "yes", but he is not saying "no." He says he does not stand with anyone unless he bleeds with them first.

Before Page can talk about his Texas Death Match with Lance Archer, Adam Cole shows up and congratulates Page on retaining while listing off some of the things that Page has done to keep the AEW World Championship. He says that Page has earned the right to call himself a world champion, then says he has been world champion everywhere he has gone and that it is a shame that his reign will have to end soon. Page says Adam Cole went elsewhere while his friends built an empire without him, and that he is now standing in front of his friend in Bullet Club with the world title he will never hold. Cole says that Page has not been associated with anyone in months and asks what kind of friend he is, and Page says that he is not perfect and that Cole does not have the best record with friends, either. He says that he has regrets and mistakes, and that the more he thinks about it, the more that Cole stepping into a ring with him is one of his biggest. Cole says that Page has gotten good, but now that he is in AEW, Page will be known as "the other Adam" just like in every other promotion they have been in. Page puts his title in the corner to fight Cole, but Cole says he has had nothing but admiration for him. He says that if he could share an AEW ring with anyone, it would be him, and when they face off in the ring, it will be for the AEW World Championship. He then says "May the best man win" and shakes hands with Page. After Cole leaves, Page is attacked from behind by ReDragon (Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly), and Cole joins in. Suddenly, Jamie Hayter attacks Martinez at the behest of Britt Baker while Martinez holds the pipe.

We hear from The House of Black (Malakai Black and Brody King). CM Punk heads to the ring. Punk says that he is sick of hearing himself talk and that he is dressed for battle, and that he wants to fight MJF. After starting an MJF chant, he unzips his jacket to reveal he has a MJF-style Burberry scarf, which he says is as cheap as MJF's personality. He also says it is not made of strong material because he found out it was made in Long Island, New York, then says that he wants MJF tonight. He then says that if he calls out MJF now, he will come out in a cheap suit with a load of excuses. MJF shows up and gets the crowd pumped for a match between himself and Punk before saying it will not happen, saying he will not waste an historical match on Cleveland, Ohio, which he says is "an absolute cesspool." He then says the match will happen next week in Chicago, Illinois, and that it will be Punk vs. MJF. He then says the people of Cleveland only think they want the match tonight, for while it will be spectacular, the outcome will be upsetting. MJF says he will beat CM Punk in Chicago, then everyone will see the real CM Punk who loses his fake smile the second he does not get what he wants, blames all his failures on everyone but himself and will sue to get his just due. He also says that the loss will cause CM Punk to leave wrestling again before making a reference to LeBron James leaving Cleveland and all the fans who supported him back in 2014. MJF says the "CM Punk" will not stop Punk from turning his back on the fans again and whining about it on a podcast. Punk says MJF only listens to his podcast because he is a fan, and says leaving and coming back is the best thing he ever did. Punk tells MJF to lace up his boots and face him, and says that MJF cannot realize that his heroes are human beings and that he would rather be himself and fail than be like MJF, talk a big game and never show up. He says that he has made decisions and that he has stood by them, and that the fans love him because he gets back up, tries and fight just like Cleveland and Chicago do. MJF decides to test that by bringing out FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) and Wardlow. Suddenly, Punk is attacked from behind by Shawn Spears, and the numbers game takes over, with FTR holding Punk down so Spears can hit him with a chair. MJF dares Punk to get up, and Punk grabs MJF by the scar only to be hit by a right hand from Harwood before Wardlow powerbombs him on the chair. We hear from The House of Black. Malakai Black says he added insult to injury because the House is built on conflict, and that the fans who want violence and conflict will welcome Brody King as a brother and be thankful for him. Brody King says that PAC denounced the House and will be humbled, and that Death Triangle will beg for salvation, look for the teaching the House taught them, and thank the House, for just like death, the House is inevitable.

Tony Schiavone introduces Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. to the ring. Britt Baker says it has been a while since she has been in Cleveland, Ohio and a little while since she has been in the ring with a microphone, which she says is acclimated to her because CM Punk and MJF could not keep her name out of their mouths. She then mentions her Pro Wrestling Illustrated awards from 2021 and says that since she has won the AEW Women's World Championship, she has had nine singles victories. Britt then says that the women's division was a wasteland and that she turned it into a "Brittopia" when nobody else did, saying that she created the top spot and surpassed the entire roster to become the face of AEW. She says that she has made history since she got here while mocking the Cleveland Browns before saying she is here for the fans and that she will not settle until she becomes Female of the Decade, saying Cleveland has a Baker that they can count on.

We hear from Jon Moxley, who finds it hard to believe Kenny Omega being friends with two sets of tag team champions in The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) and The Good Brothers ("The Big LG" Doc Gallows and "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson) is going to work, as there is always drama between them. He also says Death Triangle (PAC, Penta El Zero M, Rey Fenix) do not like either team, much less him, and is surprised that they are no longer friends with Eddie Kingston and are now his tag team partners at Beach Break. Moxley says he is a simple guy who likes his beer cold, his coffee hot and his water at room temperature and likes to have sex in the morning because it is a good way to start the day, and that he only trusts his fists. He tells Penta and Fenix to buckle up for tag team warfare at Beach Break, and says it is going to be wild.

We hear from Darby Allin and Sting. Sting tells Team Taz that since they will be in a Street Fight with Team Taz ("The Machine" Brian Cage, "Absolute" Ricky Starks, Powerhouse Hobbs), who wants to throw false accusations at him and Darby, he takes offense to him and Darby being called "hoodlums" before saying Darby is a hoodlum. Darby says that in the streets, it does not matter how you play as long as you survive, then throws his skateboard throw a window before saying he is a hoodlum and no different than Sting, who breaks a few more windows with his black baseball bat.

Before the next match, MJF says he and Sammy Guevara have to talk after the match, then gives Griff Garrison the opportunity to quit so as not to be embarrassed again only to get punched in the face.

He then tells Cody to jump into Revolution with no regrets, and says that Shaquille O'Neal dominated basketball for nineteen years and that Jade Cargill has the power to dominate the nearby area. Anderson then brings out Red Velvet, who says that like Cody, she has fire. Red Velvet then says she is here tonight because she is fed up and tired of getting attacked and watching Brandi get disrespected by Jade Cargill. She says that Cody would never lay a hand on Jade, but she will, because she is Red Velvet and she is about to "stir [her] bitch ass up."

Miro, "Superbad" Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford cordially invite the fans to Sabian and Ford's wedding at Beach Break.

"Hangman" Adam Page beats Ryan Nemeth. During the match, Matt Hardy shows up to get a closer look at the match and cheer on Page. After the match, Tony Schiavone interviews both Matt and Page, and Matt says he wants to be in his corner and let him know that he supports him, as Page seems lost and conflicted and had a lot of love for The Elite. He says The Elite burned him and that he did not deserve this, and that Page is more conflicted due to The Dark Order trying to recruit him. He says Page is a good person and deserves to be happy, and tells him that he has a bigger dressing room bigger than the one adjacent to catering that Page can use, no questions asked.

After the match, Tully Blanchard throws powder into Luchasaurus' eyes before Dax Harwood sends Luchasaurus into the ring post, then they and Harwood triple-team Jungle Boy with a slingshot suplex and Luchasaurus with a spike piledriver. Harwood and Wheeler then handcuff Luchasaurus to the ring ropes before cutting the horns off of his mask. Anderson says it is a full-blown Bullet Club party, and tonight, they take out The Dark Order. Gallows says that next week, they will beat up Rey Fenix, PAC and Jon Moxley. The Young Bucks say they are down for tonight's match as long as Don Callis is not involved. Shortly after this, MJF rips the mask off of Brodie Lee's son (referred to as "-1" throughout the show) in the front row, and gets a Kendo stick shot to the head for his efforts. When they come back on a second time, Sting also arrives from the same door that Darby Allin came out of. Darby and Sting stand with 10, Cody and Cassidy as Taz and the rest of his team stands down.

"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes is in the ring. He talks about a Samuel Johnson quote that he feels encapsulates Brodie Lee: "You can judge a man's character by how he treats somebody who can do him no good." After hearing so many stories from so many people about Brodie Lee, he says there is no other wrestler anywhere who had such a one-on-one connection like Brodie Lee, who he calls "a beautiful man" who leaves behind a beautiful legacy before bringing out Brodie's older son, Brodie Lee Jr. aka "-1," who arrives with his mom and Brodie's wife Amanda, Tony Khan and Preston "10" Vance. -1 places Brodie Lee's boots and a purple bandana in the center of the ring as tribute, and is presented with the AEW TNT Championship by Tony Khan, who declares -1 "TNT Champion for life." He then tells Omega to consider themselves even, and that the only way Omega will become AEW World Championship is if he digs down deep and finds the Kenny Omega everybody thinks he is, and says that he will have to climb a mountain nobody has climbed in eighteen months and beat him. He then hypes their match, then tells Omega that winter is coming for him, because he takes no prisoners and Omega will only get one shot at him. Moxley then signs the contract, thanks Schiavone and leaves.

He then tells the fans to think about what Matt would do if they become overwhelmed: survive, thrive and win.

We hear from Team Taz ("The Machine" Brian Cage, "Absolute" Ricky Starks, Powerhouse Hobbs). Starks says that "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes has crossed the line, then says they love it in AEW and that Taz takes care of them, but he says Cody is the problem, as his paper-thin ego gets in the way and that he does not want people to remember that he and Cage beat them in their last meeting. He says that Cody has made it personal, and that he and Powerhouse Hobbs are going to bust heads next week.

Next week: Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. vs. Leyla Hirsch!

In footage from earlier today, Tony Schiavone interviews Kenny Omega, who admits that he has relocated to Jacksonville, Florida temporarily to concentrate on the World Title Eliminator Tournament. Omega says that making it to the finals of the tournament on his own merits to face "Hangman" Adam Page is the only proper way to win the tournament, then asks the viewers who they have in the finals before saying he is destined to win the tournament and become the next AEW World Champion.

Before the next match, Miro interrupts Justin Roberts' ring announcing to tell Trent that the match is until he falls because he is stupid and ignorant and because his mother did not teach him any manners. This leads Trent to attack Miro before the bell rings.

Miro beats Trent with Game Over, then puts him back in the hold until Chuck Taylor runs in and attacks Miro. "Superbad" Kip Sabian gets in the ring and fights Taylor, hitting him with a drop kick in the corner before tossing him out of the ring. Miro then tells Trent that he has no manners because of his mother, then Orange Cassidy goes up top and hits both Miro and Sabian with a trust fall from the top rope. Sabian has to hold Miro back.

In footage from earlier today, Jim Ross interviews "Hangman" Adam Page, who says he feels so good to face Kenny Omega in the World Title Eliminator finals, as he has had a lot of time to think about the match and prepare for it, and says he will "whip his ass." Page says he knows all of Omega's moves and how to reverse them, but J.R. thinks that Page is nervous and not on his first whiskey. Page admits he is nervous, as does anybody who walks through the entrance tunnels, and while he may not have been the first AEW World Champion, this is the closest he has gotten since his match with Chris Jericho. He says that if he does not win tonight, he does not know what he will have other than a glass of whiskey.

We see a video package for The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) vs. FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at Full Gear.

He then tells Tony Khan that he has forced him to come out with a live microphone, and mentions that "The Machine" Brian Cage is #1 on the singles rankings while "Absolute" Ricky Starks has won ten of the last eleven matches and is not even in the top five. Starks says he has hit every opportunity AEW has given him out of the park and proved why he is called "Absolute," and that he cannot figure out why he cannot even be ranked. He also wants to know why Team Taz (Cage and Starks) does not have a match at Full Gear, then Taz mentions "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes' match with Darby Allin for the AEW TNT Championship before saying that Cody and Allin are both spoiled, entitled and given whatever they want. Taz then tells Cody that Team Taz has done the work only to get worked, and guarantees there will be an FTW presence at Full Gear.

Sammy Guevara attacks Matt Hardy before the next match.

The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) beat Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy). After the match, The Young Bucks are attacked from behind by FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) and Tully Blanchard, who force Nick Jackson to watch as they try to stomp on a chair wrapped around Matt Jackson's ankle in order to break it. Kingston says he had to sell out and become everything he hated to get the title, and says there is no saving him as he takes the title from Moxley. Moxley takes the microphone and says that the longer he has been in the business, the more he has learned that loyality is a bitch, and while he has been burned time and time again, he never thought Kingston would burn him. He tells Kingston that he was happy for him and for his mother, to whom he promised that he would watch Kingston's back. He says that the loudest person in the building is the weakest, then says that after eighteen years, Kingston got the shot he never had, but at the same time, he knows he is going to lose and find out that he did not deserve it after all. He then mentions that Kingston made a promise to his mother that he cannot keep. Kingston tells Moxley to get ready to kill him on Saturday. As Kingston leave, Moxley tells Kingston that he will figure out that he is not the man he thought he was once he is alone with his ego, and that he will say "I quit."

We hear from PAC, who has not been seen on AEW programming in months. Shida grabs Vickie, causing Nyla to attack Shida, and Shida has to be held back.

The Gunn Club (Billy and Austin Gunn) and "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes beat The Dark Order (John "4" Silver, Preston "10" Vance and Colt Cabana). After the match, The Dark Order confronts The Gunn Club and Cody, and when John Silver tries to attack Cody and The Gunn Club from behind with a steel chair, Orange Cassidy shows up and stops Silver, hitting him with an Orange Punch. Cody then takes the microphone and says he does not like telling a story that is not true, but says that Darby Allin - who has watched the match from the upper balcony seats and is still watching from there now - has told people that TNT does not want them as their champion because he is too reckless. Cody says TNT would love someone like Allin as their champion, and if the situation was different, so would he, because he solely recruited him to AEW even when they were so unsure of Allin that Cody had to wrestle him himself. He tells Allin to look at the man who left the empire, went to war and actually won, then tells him that the truth that he speaks contradicts the lies a lot of people live. Cody says that Allin wants "the ace belt," but he is not the ace.
