The Vision ("The Oracle" Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, "Big" Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, Austin Theory) makes their way to the ring to start tonight's show. Paul Heyman gets furious with the "CM Punk" chants and states that The Vision will main event WrestleMania five years from now, then announces Austin Theory as their newest member. Theory says he has worked his entire career for this moment, and declares Bron Breakker the next World Heavyweight Champion. Heyman then proclaims that the needs of The Vision preclude those of everyone else before CM Punk shows up. Punk calls out Bron Breakker, then says he could get in the ring, say a few things and then get destroyed. He then says he likes to look a man in the eyes before he puts him to sleep, and tells The Vision to make it just him and Breakker in the ring so he clear the air. Breakker agrees to these terms, and Punk and Breakker have a staredown in the middle of the ring. Breakker states that The Vision is looking towards the future, and that he will become the next World Heavyweight Champion. He says that he is tired of everyone calling him the future and saying that he will "figure it out" and main event everything, then says that he is the present. Breakker then accuses Punk of seeing him as "the new guy in town" and dares him to find someone like him in the locker room. Breakker says that everything he has had done has been under a microscope and that he has been held to a higher standard, and that on January 5th, he is willing to die for the World title as much as Punk, and that he will put Punk in the ground. Punk tells Breakker that he has made a mistake of assuming what he thinks of him, then says Breakker that while Breakker is more ready than anyone else in The Vision, the World title is a privilege to carry and he is not ready to let it go. Punk says he is not ready to stop being champion, and while Breakker has what it takes, he is not CM Punk. He says that someday, someone will beat him for the World title, but it will not be Breakker.
Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Raquel Rodriguez. Raquel says there will be no tricks tonight and that nobody is getting in the way of what is hers. Liv Morgan suddenly shows up and tells her to take care of business tonight. Raquel says that she will take care of business and do it alone, even as Roxanne Perez shows up after she is mentioned, and that she does not need luck.
Stephanie Vaquer retain the Women's World Championship against Nikki Bella and Raquel Rodriguez after Raquel hits Nikki with a Tejana Bomb only for Vaquer to send Raquel tumbling out of the ring to pick the bones and get the win.
Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Gunther when R-Truth confronts him from his recent disrespect. Gunther simply laughs in R-Truth's face and takes this as a challenge.
Olympic Gold Medalist Noah Lyles is seen in the front row.
The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) head to the ring. Asuka talks about how she recently beat Rhea Ripley, then says the fans are "stupid babies" for thinking Rhea can take her on, then Kairi Sane says Iyo should never have attacked her before Asuka demands her microphone. Asuka then says that Rhea and Iyo paid for their disrespect last week, then Rhea and Iyo show up and chase The Kabuki Warriors out of the ring for a brawl on the outside. Kairi shoves Iyo into the announce table only to eat a right hand from Rhea, then Asuka attacks Rhea from behind before tossing Iyo into the timekeeper's area so that she and Kairi can gang up on Rhea. Iyo stops a double-team In-Sane Elbow just in time, and she and Rhea soon send The Kabuki Warriors packing.
Backstage, Rey Mysterio is met by CM Punk. Rey says he is good for tonight, but reminds Punk that "The Oracle" Paul Heyman is not the only person in the favor business regarding Punk's title defense next week.
Gunther beats R-Truth by submission with a sleeper hold.
Backstage, Jey Uso is met by Jimmy Uso. Jey admits that things have not been going his way and that he does not want to put Jimmy in as bad as a spot as he is in right now, but Jimmy knows that Jey can get the job done.
Backstage, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and Dragon Lee are met by Je'Von Evans. Styles says that he and Dragon Lee are open to a rematch before Los Americanos (El Grande Americano, Rayo American, Bravo Americano) show up. Styles and Dragon Lee back Je'Von up, and Los Americanos soon leave.
Backstage, Austin Theory is welcomed to The Vision ("The Oracle" Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, "Big" Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, Austin Theory), and Logan Paul tells Theory that they have his back. Heyman has Logan accompany Theory to the ring for his match.
Rey Mysterio beats Austin Theory by disqualification after Logan Paul trips Rey out of the splash after the 619. After the match, Logan and Theory gang up on Rey when Penta makes the save. Rey hits Logan with the 619 before Penta clotheslines Logan out of the ring.
We hear from Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky. Rhea says Asuka is delusional after everything she has done and keeps doing to them, then says that Asuka is the one who has been disrespectful. She says that last week was the first and last time Asuka will beat her, because she will destroy her next week. Iyo tells Kairi that she is lost and that it is too late, for she has chosen the wrong path. She says Asuka was her senpai, but the student has become the master, and next week, they will teach The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) a lesson in respect and become Women's Tag Team Champions.
Maxxine Dupri heads to the ring. Maxxine says that she would not be standing in the ring as a champion if it were not for the fans and brags about how she made Becky Lynch tap to an ankle lock before Becky Lynch shows up. Becky says the only thing she tapped to was living in Orlando, Florida, and if the fans get rich enough, they can move out, too. Maxxine tells Becky to make her next move wisely or else she will break her. Becky admits, very reluctantly, that Maxxine has gotten better while still accusing her of stealing a title, but Maxxine says that she only stole the spotlight. Becky gets furious and says she came out here to be nice before making a huge deal about how great she is. Becky also says she has overcome every corruption and injustice thrown her way and that she always finds a way to win, then wants to know if Maxxine is everything she says she is or everything Becky knows Maxxine is before welcoming her to the big time.
Backstage, General Manager Adam Pearce meets with Trick Williams, then Lyra Valkyria and a frustrated Bayley show up wanting a piece of the Women's Tag Team Championship title picture to the point that Bayley calls Pearce a bald idiot. Pearce reminds them that Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez also have a shot at the titles, much to Bayley's chagrin, and Lyra has to defuse the situation.
The Usos (Jimmy and "Main Event" Jey Uso) beat "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and Dragon Lee to become the World Tag Team Champions! The reign is The Usos' ninth overall. After the match, The Usos celebrate in the crowd.
Chris Jericho heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Jericho talks about the events between him and Sammy Guevara and the aftermath from Dynamite, then talks about how he and Sting will be teaming at Worlds End. He says that after their no holds barred match, Sting told him that he respects him and has his back, and he was true to his word. Jericho then asks Sammy Guevara to come to the ring, as he still has some loose ends to take care of between himself and Sammy. Sammy shows up and heads to the ring. Jericho asks Sammy why he joined Don Callis' family. Sammy says it is hard being in Jericho's shadow, and that he started blaming Jericho for not being where he wanted to be, and that it was him who held himself back, not Jericho. Sammy says that it is time to get to work and be the man he should have been back then after months of watching and thinking after his concussion and the birth of his son, then apologizes to Jericho. Jericho accepts Sammy's apology, then admits that he is a bit controlling but is still one of his biggest fans. He says he knows Don Callis can be manipulative and leech off young guys who doubt themselves, and that he will always believe in Sammy. Jericho then says that he still needs a partner for his tag team title match after Worlds End, and asks Sammy if he will reunite with him and bring back Le Sex Gods. Sammy hugs Jericho, confirming the reunion.
Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Daniel Garcia and "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard. Menard says Garcia's win against Brody King was the biggest of Garcia's career, then Garcia says that he is sick of people like The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, Buddy Matthews) walking over people like him and Menard and that they have them in their sights.
Ruby Soho beats "The Problem" Marina Shafir following the distraction from Harley Cameron in a match that also sees "The Native Beast" Nyla Rose chase Saraya through the crowd when Cameron's attacks against Nyla prove to be ineffective.
Backstage, we hear from The Don Callis Family (Don Callis, Konosuke Takeshita, Powerhouse Hobbs, Kyle Fletcher), Big Bill and "Absolute" Ricky Starks. Don Callis says that Chris Jericho's world will end tomorrow, as does Konosuke Takeshita, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Kyle Fletcher. Big Bill says they will beat everyone, and Starks calls their eight-man tag match at Worlds End his retirement gift to Sting.
Backstage, Renee Paquette interview Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale. Willow wants to know that she and Kris are on good terms after Stokely Hathaway's recent words, as she wants to tag with Kris at Worlds End. Stokely shows up and wants them one-on-one at Worlds End, and while Willow is reluctant, Kris likes the idea and shakes hands on it.
Wheeler Yuta retains the Ring of Honor Pure Championship against Matt Sydal. After the match, Danhausen shows up and appoints himself "the fourth judge" and has kept an eye on him before disqualifying him for a closed fist to Sydal's face behind the referee's back and declaring him the loser. Wheeler Yuta responds by laying Danhausen out and telling him to kiss his ass before hitting him with elbows. All of a sudden, Hook shows up and chases Yuta out of the ring.
We see a video package of the aftermath of Samoa Joe betraying MJF on Dynamite.
Action Andretti and Top Flight (Darius and Dante Martin) beat Best Friends (Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta, "Azucar" Rocky Romero) in a trios match.

Cathy Kelley interviews Kevin Owens. Owens says winning the tag team gold was an incredible moment and that it was a shame how it all ended, then says he is focused on the United States Championship and taking it from Logan Paul. He says that Logan Paul being champion is a nightmare and that he will make it go away and restore prestige to the title, broken hand or not.
We hear from Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. Both of them look forward to winning gold, winning big matches and headlining WrestleMania before noticing that Kevin Owens is on the social media ticker and getting upset.

FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) and The Hardy Family Office (Matt Hardy, Marq Quen, Isiah Kassidy) beat Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus), The Lucha Brothers (Penta el Zero Miedo) and Christian Cage after Christian Cage tags himself in, causing an ensuing argument between himself and Penta that leads to FTR hitting Christian with the Big Rig for the win.
2point0 (Jeff Parker and Matt Lee) and Daniel Garcia beat Proud 'n Powerful (Santana and Ortiz) and Eddie Kingston after Matt Lee grabs Santana's tights. After the match, 2point0 continue to attack Santana while Garcia grabs the ring bell. Eddie tries to stop Garcia, but he gets stomped, and Garcia nails Santana with the ring bell. Suddenly, Chris Jericho shows up with Floyd the baseball bat and clears the ring. Suddenly, Eddie wants Jericho's entrance theme cut off and confronts Jericho for getting involved, saying this is his fight. Ortiz has to keep Jericho and Eddie from throwing down.
We hear from MJF, who says that he was thrown over the top rope with reckless abandon by Sting, and if he working for a more professional company, this would not be happening. He also says that CM Punk claims to want a piece of him but continues to stay away from him, and MJF says he considers Punk an obstacle towards championship gold. MJF then tells Wardlow to stop with the excessive powerbomb and to start qualifying for the gold before relinquishing it to him, and after having "Smart" Mark Sterling read Wardlow's contract, MJF says he will start racking up wins of his own.
Backstage, Christian Cage confronts The Lucha Bros. (Penta el Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix) and challenges them to an AEW World Tag Team Title match against Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus). Penta says Christian is not a good tag partner, and that Jungle Boy should let go of the past.
Wardlow beats Colin Delaney with four powerbombs. After the match, Shawn Spears smacks Colin Delaney in the back with a chair.
We hear from The Superkliq (Adam Cole, Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson), Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly. Adam Cole says tonight will be a historic night as they go down in all of pro wrestling history, then allows Kyle O'Reilly to speak to him privately. The Young Bucks leave, as does Bobby Fish. Kyle tells Cole they may have heat towards each other, but this is a new company. He says he knows Bobby Fish has his back and will find out if Cole does, too.
We hear from Dan Lambert and The Men of the Year (Scorpio Sky and "All Ego" Ethan Page). He says he cannot see why "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes is cool, and that while Arn Anderson is one of his favorites, it makes him sad to see him with Cody and that he's a whore and not a Horseman. He says that Brandi Rhodes is the only woman named Brandi who is currently not a stripper, then makes fun of Cody's neck tattoo and says Cody never really made it until he made it to AEW. After Lambert says that AEW is feeding the fans "a shit sandwich," Brandi Rhodes shows up and calls Lambert out for his comments and asks him when he last got beaten up by a woman and didn't pay for it, saying she will do it for free. Lambert says he is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and that there is no man who wants to does not want to beat the crap out her, to which Brandi replies "I'm a Black bitch; let's go." Dustin Rhodes shows up and holds Brandi back only to get jumped by The Men of the Year.
We see a video package for Bryan Danielson vs. "Hangman" Adam Page for the AEW World Championship next week.
Jade Cargill beats Thunder Rosa to advance in the TBS title tournament after "Smart" Mark Sterling distracts the referee and a hooded, masked assailant nails Thunder Rosa from the outside. After the match, Thunder Rosa jumps Jade Cargill, but the mystery assailant returns and reveals themselves to be Mercedes Martinez before attacking Thunder Rosa along with Jade. Ruby Soho soon shows up with a pipe and chases them both away.
We see a video package for Riho vs. Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. for the AEW Women's World Championship.
CM Punk heads to the ring. He says it is great to see Jim Ross back on commentary, saying he is the best to ever do it, then says he is about giving people their flowers when they deserve it. Punk says that despite never being in Daily's Place, it is a home for AEW, and it gets him thinking about Brodie Lee, saying that anyone who minimizes his impact has never met him, saying the Brodie Lee tribute made him want to come to AEW. He then addresses MJF, calling him "a Twitter troll in the flesh" who talks a big game but hides behind either a keyboard or someone else and laced up his running shoes despite saying the people want them to have a match. As for MJF's comments that he is done with him, Punk says he is fine with that as he got the win that he wanted, and says that if MJF is scared or afraid, that is alright, because he is looking to bigger and better things. Punk then says that with MJF wanting to be champion, he wants to be champion, then he calls MJF a waste of his time and a bigger waste of money than Tim Tebow. He says he never wanted to mess with MJF, but MJF found out the hard way that nobody can touch him, and if MJF wants to climb the ladder to championship gold, they will meet again, and that it would be a shame if someone interfered in his quest for the gold.
We hear from "Absolute" Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs. Starks welcomes Jim Ross back and thanks him for freeing up Taz's time before telling Dante Martin that by screwing him, he screwed Team Taz. He says that if he cannot win, neither will Dante, then says that he and Hobbs remember what happened last time Dante wrestle Hobbs. Hobbs asks Dante if he really wants to go another round with him.
We see a video package chronicling the recent events in the feud between Hikaru Shida and Serena Deeb where Shida tells Serena to stop whining about something that is her own fault and ask for the rematch.
Tony Schiavone interviews Brian Pillman Jr. He says he will not forget the bell ringing over and over again while Malakai Black tried to end Griff Garrison's career, and when he got in the ring, he ended up on the mat next to Garrison. Pillman says that he has busted his ass to get here, and he says that when he heads to the House of Black, he will not bust the door down and he will not give Malakai his life, because the world will soon see a new Brian Pillman Jr. The lights then go dark, and Malakai Black appears on the stage. He points at Brian Pillman Jr., then the lights go out and he disappears.
We hear from The Acclaimed ("Platinum" Max Caster and Anthony Bowens). Max Caster says Sting and Darby Allin should are considered the "main event tag team" but are not even ranked, and Bowens tells Darby to get in the ring so he can beat his "My Chemical Romance lookin' ass" on Rampage We then hear from Sting and Darby Allin. Sting says he has always treated his matches like the main event, then Darby says people have tried to stop them but have only tried and tells Bowens that he is ready.
We see a video package for Anna Jay and Tay Conti vs. Penelope Ford and The Bunny in a Street Fight on Rampage.
Adam Cole, Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly beat Best Friends (Trent Barretta, Chuck Taylor, Orange Cassidy). During the match, Brandon Cutler shows up only to get punched by Trent and Chuck, but when the ref is pre-occupied with Cutler, The Young Bucks attack Trent and Chuck. Fish and O'Reilly hit Chuck Taylor with Chasing The Dragon to get the win.

Purrazzo considers Taya Valkyrie's challenge for the Knockouts title at Hard To Kill interesting due to Taya's accolades, and when she defeats Taya, she can be the longest reigning Knockouts Champion. She accepts Taya's challenge, and says that when her next masterpiece is revealed, Taya's fate will be sealed.

After briefly talking about his slip off the top turnbuckle in his AEW debut, Sydal talks about his recent win streak before saying he will make the ring his realm in his upcoming match against Cody Rhodes. Suddenly, Reba gets a letter from TBS aksing Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. to hang a poster of The Go-Big Show. They do, then Matt Sydal gives Cody a third eye on the card after saying that Cody does not like to share the spotlight.

Griff Garrison beats Fuego del Sol. After the match, "Pretty" Peter Avalon congratulates Griff Garrison with a signed 8x10, but Garrison refuses it.

Sammy Guevara beats Aaron Solow. After the match, Guevara says this is not only another win for him and The Inner Circle, but his ten-year anniversary as a professional wrestler following countless amounts of work on the independents and what will become even more work proving doubters wrong in AEW.
Chaos Project (Luther and Serpentico) beats Ariel Levy and El Curevo de Puerto Rico.

SoCal Uncensored ("The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian) beats TheHybrid2 (Angelico and Jack Evans). After the match, The Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowen) run into the ring and atack SoCal Uncensored along with TheHybrid2, then The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) run TheHybrid2 and The Acclaimed out of the ring.
Another handicap match took place between The Singh Brothers (Samir and Sunil Singh) and R-Truth for the WWE 24/7 Championship in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Samir would pin R-Truth for the title first, then Sunil would pin Samir for it, giving both men their fourth and fifth reigns with the title, respectively. Of course, R-Truth would take the title right on back, starting his 29th reign as 24/7 Champion.

The show starts off with Edge's retirement speech from the April 11, 2011 edition of Raw.
Edge and Christian start off the proceedings. They compromise and combine The Peep Show and The Cutting Edge to do The Cutting Edge Peep Show, with tonight's guest being Seth Rollins...who takes on Roman Reigns tonight. Also, Rusev will take on Dolph Ziggler in a Champion vs. Champion match, although neither of them will be naked, much to Christian's disappointment. Daniel Bryan will be here later to talk about his future. Edge and Christian then begin to do the five-second pose for all those with flash photography, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman show up. Lesnar isn't in the mood to destroy Edge or Christian; instead, he's more focused on John Cena, according to Heyman. Cena shows up. He promises to take the WWE World Heavyweight Championship back at Royal Rumble, then puts his hands on Paul Heyman. Lesnar goes for Cena, but Cena has Lesnar read like a book. Lesnar breaks out of the Attitude Adjustment and retreats along with Paul Heyman.
Dolph Ziggler beats Rusev by disqualification when Rusev keeps Ziggler in the corner for too long. Rusev then locks the Accolade on Ziggler and uses the ropes to do more damage. As officials try to get him off Ziggler, Ryback shows up and forces Rusev to retreat.
Ryback talks about his road to where he is now: being a guest bell ringer as a kid at his first WWE live event in Las Vegas, $1,000,000 Tough Enough, going through depression, getting back in the groove and being re-signed by WWE, breaking his ankle in three places, beating the doctor's expectations, and becoming The Ryback. After a video package of Ryback, Ryback tells Rusev that this won't be just a "USA vs. Russia thing," it's going to be a "big guy giving another big guy an ass-kicking thing" at Royal Rumble.
Nikki Bella beats Natalya after the distraction from Brie Bella.
Naomi thanks The Miz backstage, telling him that thanks to his connections to the music producer, she has future projects outside of WWE lined up. She wishes Miz luck on his tag team title match against The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso).
The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) beat The Miz and Damien Mizdow to win the WWE Tag Team Championships! They celebrate with Naomi, and Jerry Lawler interviews The Usos after the match. They declare 2014 "the Year of the Usos," and they're throwing a party, with barbeque involved. Jerry Lawler is, of course, invited.
Cesaro is in the ring. He says 2014 should have been his year after winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 30, but WWE says he doesn't connect with the WWE Universe. He doesn't care about connecting with the Universe; he just cares about putting a show every night. He issues an open challenge to anyone who doubts him...and the person who answers is none other than Bad News Barrett, who is back after being on the injured list for six months.
Bad News Barrett beats Cesaro.
Luke Harper has a message for those who want to toss him aside like trash and cast him as a social pariah: he's a nightmare come to life. Sweet dreams.

Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins ends with interference from Big Show, who tosses Reigns over the commentary table and topples the whole table on top of him.
Seth Rollins announces to J&J Security (Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble) that he plans to have a New Year's toast to John Cena tonight on the Cutting Edge Peep Show and invites Cena to join him. He tells J&J Security to spread the word.

The Miz and Damien Mizdow barge in on Christian playing the kazoo to demand a rematch against The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) for the WWE Tag Team Championships. Edge (and his stunt double puppet) gives them a match, but it's not against The Usos and it's not for the tag titles.
The Miz and Damien Mizdow's opponents are none other than The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor), now making their official debut on the main roster.

Renee Young interviews Seth Rollins, who confirms he's inviting John Cena to the Cutting Edge Peep Show.
It's The Cutting Edge Peep Show! Edge and Christian's guest tonight is Seth Rollins, who considers them heroes and an inspiration for him to start wrestling. He wants to ring in 2015, but he doesn't want to do it alone...so he calls out Big Show, who shows up. He also calls out John Cena, who doesn't come out immediately. Rollins then says he wants something from Cena, but when Cena doesn't show up, Rollins decides to force his hand by attacking Christian with the Money in the Bank briefcase. Edge shoves Rollins, and he is soon surrounded by Big Show, Rollins, and J&J Security (Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble). Show forces Edge to the ground, and they all threaten to paralyze Edge for life. John Cena rushes in, but Rollins threatens to break Edge permanently if Cena doesn't bring back Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. John has no choice but to bring them back, but it's all a trick as Rollins attempts to Curb Stomp Edge. Cena fights everyone off but is easily outnumbered. After John Cena is taken down, Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar show up, and Rollins shakes hands with Heyman. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon then appear at the top of the ramp to end the show.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews Bret "The Hit Man" Hart. Bret says people had a lot of doubt about where he was going, and he had to judge the situation from close up. He always found that actions speak louder than words, and yesterday was an example of good old-fashioned justice prevailing like it's supposed to. As far as the nWo goes, they are "the lowest, most rotten, evil, corrupt bunch of scum" who remind him of the scum he just left behind, and it was an honor and a privilege to see the rise of WCW, as he looks to great matches and satisfying all the WCW fans. He says he wants to wrestle guys like The Giant, Lex Luger, "The Crippler" Chris Benoit and even Sting and test his skills. He then says that WCW will learn what "The Excellence of Execution" is all about, as WCW is where the big boys play and that it's time to show he is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. He says the nWo will pay the price, with "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan paying the price as he has looked for him for a long time, saying that Hogan ran away from him a long time ago but cannot run or hide no longer, and that Hogan will have to get in the ring with him.
Raven's Flock (Raven, Perry Saturn, Billy Kidman, Sick Boy, Scotty Riggs, Lodi, Van Hammer) are seen in the front row. Raven announces that last week, Saturn defeated "The Crippler" Chris Benoit, and that in the last few weeks, they have beaten and humiliated him. He says any sane person would know when enough is enough, but calls Benoit "a masochist with severe psychological damage." He says that if Benoit insists on receiving punishment every week, then he insists that his flock inflict it. Van Hammer then jumps the guardrail to get in the ring for the next match. When Benoit shows up for the match, he dives over the guardrail to get a piece of the Flock before being tossed into the ring by Hammer.
"The Crippler" Chris Benoit vs. Van Hammer ends in a no-contest when Raven's Flock (Perry Saturn, Billy Kidman, Sick Boy, Lodi, Scotty Rigs) attacks Benoit as he has Van Hammer in the Crippler Crossface. As he is attacked, Steve "Mongo" McMichael rushes into the ring to save Benoit. During the match, it is announced that the encore for Starrcade will be aired tomorrow and also receive a special New Year's Eve showing on December 31st at 8 PM Eastern, 7 PM Central.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Flair congratulates Diamond Dallas Page for beating Curt Hennig for the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship, then tells Hennig that they still have a date with destiny. He also says that Sting did what he said he was going to do, and also gives Bret "The Hit Man" Hart for his part in Sting's win. He says that Bret didn't mention his name when mentioning who he wanted to wrestle in WCW, then reads an article from The Baltimore Sun which refers to him as the greatest wrestler in the world.
Ultimo Dragon is attacked from behind by Eddie Guerrero while on the way to the ring for the next match.
Ultimo Dragon quickly beats Eddie Guerrero with the Dragon Sleeper to become the WCW Cruiserweight Champion! Eddie Guerrero attacks Ultimo Dragon after the match, but it doesn't change the fact that Ultimo Dragon is the new champion.
An unhappy "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff make their way to the ring. Hogan says the way it is, the way it was and the way it always will be, he is the man and made wrestling what it is today, and says he remembered WCW Executive Committee Chairman J.J. Dillon call Nick Patrick the most qualified referee for the match, and that Nick Patrick called for the bell and declared him the winner after the leg drop. He then says that Bret "The Hit Man" Hart interfered, punching out Nick Patrick and "lying to the world." He says that Bret stuck his nose in his business, and that he is the only world heavyweight champion. Hogan says he and Bischoff are open for suggestions for WCW to save face, because he fears no coward like Sting, Bret or anyone else as he is the man and "your champion." Bischoff tells J.J. Dillon to fix it, saying Dillon messed it up.
Bobby "The Brain" Heenan shows up as Tony Schiavone says that the next hour will be a two-man broadcast team thanks to Heenan's actions last week. Heenan tells Schiavone that he was the only one who bit the bullet and sacrificed himself for WCW. Heenan puts himself back on second hour commentary, much to the surprise of Schiavone and Mike Tenay as Heenan says he would have stayed on WCW even if nWo took control of Nitro and Schiavone tells Heenan he really is a weasel. The Nitro Girls then perform on the commentary table.
Diamond Dallas Page retains the WCW United States Championship against Mortis. Pyrotechnics then signal the start of the second hour as DDP leaves through the crowd.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews WCW Executive Committee Chairman J.J. Dillon. Dillon says it's a privilege to be on WCW Monday Nitro, and thanks "The Living Legend" Larry Zbyszko for that. He says that the upcoming New Year's Eve will be quite a party after all that WCW has been through. As for the World Heavyweight Championship match, the decision to make Sting the World Heavyweight champion is final. He is tired of Eric Bischoff and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan crying and complaining and making excuses, and announces that Sting is in the building tonight. He tells Hogan and Bischoff that if they want solutions, they can fix this by beating Sting to take back the World title, as Sting has authorized him to announce that he is putting the World title on the line. He tells Bischoff and Hogan to put up or shut up, saying that Sting is willing to face any member of the New World Order with the title on the line tonight on Nitro.
Booker T beats Disco Inferno to become the WCW World Television Champion! After multiple tag team title reigns, Booker T gets his first taste of singles gold. Stevie Ray celebrates with Booker T in the ring after the match.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interview WCW Executive Committee Chairman J.J. Dillon, who says that Sting is serious about putting the World title on the line but has not gotten any response. All of a sudden, Eric Bischoff shows up. He tells Dillon he's his, and that he is on for the challenge as "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan will step in the ring and win the World title back. He tells Dillon not to screw it up this time.
Curt Hennig, now accompanied to the ring by Rick Rude, beats Chris Jericho. After the match, Chris Jericho pushes David Penzer out of his seat and smacks the steel chair into the ring post, finally having had it with his losing streak.
We see another performance by The Nitro Girls.
Bill Ripken of the Detroit Tigers is spotted in the crowd. This week's Nitro prize pack winners are Adam Yeasel and Katie burke of Champaign, Illinois, and we see their Nitro party footage.
Before the next match, Buff Bagwell tells Lex Luger he still can't beat him and calls him out again.
Lex Luger finally beats Buff Bagwell with the Torture Rack after knocking Scott Norton off the apron. Afte rthe match, Luger says that "Macho Man" Randy Savage is next on his hit list.
Sting vs. "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan takes up the remainder of the show. Referee Randy Anderson is knocked out by a Stinger Splash meant for Hogan just before the show fades to black.
Before the next match, The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust is dressed as Baby New Year, carrying a rattle and drinking out of an oversized baby bottle. Goldust wishes everyone a happy new year on behalf of himself and Luna Vachon, and says he is putting his name in the "1988 Royal Rumble." He knows that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin will also be in the Royal Rumble match, and is saying that he is the toughest S.O.B. in the World Wrestling Federation. Goldust says he is the toughest S.O.B., not Austin, and that he will prove it tonight. After spanking Steve Austin's ass, he's got a present for him as well. He pulls out a pair of black panties from his diaper and tells Austin they can play dress-up, with him being Austin's Barbie girl and Austin being his big Ken. He tells Austin to drive himself the ring in his little pink Corvette so they can get it on. Austin gets in the ring and grabs the microphone, and Austin talks about how he was paralyzed earlier this year, before saying that he's still here and that the language, fingers and violence will continue into 1998. He tells Goldust he won't wrestle him tonight, and instead says he has a gift for him. As Austin insults Goldust and says he does what he wants, when he wants, something comes down from the roof. Once it's low enough, Austin pulls on a cord to drag it towards the ring and it eventually lands there. After a ring worker unhooks it from the roof, Austin pulls the black cover off of it to reveal it is a port-a-potty. He says 4 out of 5 construction workers agreed it stinks like hell as they passed by it outside, and asks the crowd to give him a "hell yeah" if they agree. Goldust tries to get in the ring and attack him from behind the port-a-potty, but Austin sees it coming and slams the port-a-potty door before he lays him out and tosses him in the port-a-potty. He then says that's exactly where you go when you mess with Steve Austin. Goldust gets out of the port-a-potty, but Austin gives him a Stone Cold Stunner, pushes him back in and then pushes the port-a-potty over. Austin then stands on top of it and says that's the first commode full of whup-ass he's ever opened, and it's not the last. Austin then grabs a bottle of baby powder at the apron and tosses it into the ring before leaving.
It is noted that a wooden crate is on the stage.
The Disciples of Apocalypse (Skull, 8-Ball, Chainz) beat Los Boricuas (Savio Vega, Miguel Perez, Jesus Castillo Jr.) in a Long Island Brawl despite interference from Jose Estrada after Savio Vega accidentally kicks Jesus Castillo Jr. in the head from the apron. During the match, it is announced that Crush has decided not to be in the WWF anymore after being attacked by Kane. (In reality, he left partially due to the Montreal Screwjob.)
"Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Chyna are in the ring, and Triple H is seen with his leg in a cast and two crutches in his hands. He is sorry to inform everyone that he will not be able to defend the WWF European Championship last night, as he dislocated his kneecap last night during a match. He tells Owen Hart he will have to wait for him to stomp his guts in. He tells The Undertaker that "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels isn't here tonight as he is at home with a 102-degree fever and "is shivering and sweating and has the sick thing going." He tells The Undertaker he will have to wait until Royal Rumble to rest in pieces. The Undertaker's music hits, but instead of The Undertaker, out comes a few druids wheeling out a casket. All of a sudden, Triple H says there's one thing left to do: break it down. "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels comes out of the casket, which is covered in DX-related graffiti. Shawn says that D-Generation X (Shawn, Triple H, Chyna) would like to bring in the new year with style, and if it were up to the WWF, they'd have him roll out in a casket with "two skanks," but since he takes only the finest women, one of whom is in Venice, California, he'd rather come out alone than with "two ugly bimbos." He then introduces the two new members of D-Generation X: Chyna's breasts. Shawn says Chyna is not only the toughest woman in the WWF, but "the breast damn woman in town." Triple H says that if Chyna had a nipple for every time someone said she was "the breast damn woman here," she'd be a millionaire and they'd have to change their name to "Double D-Generation X." Shawn tells Owen Hart he is lucky that Triple H is lucky, but in due time, he will be better and rid the World Wrestling Federation of "that tiny little nugget." At Royal Rumble, The Undertaker will fail to beat him after a third chance, which he has given him out of the goodness of his heart. Shawn talks to Chyna's breasts, saying she understands her and that he can talk to her, but Chyna tells him "eyes up here." Shawn then looks at the camera and says 1998 will be the year of D-Generation X, and absolutely nobody is going to crash their party. WWF Commissioner Sgt. Slaughter shows up, and Shawn and Triple H make fun of Slaughter's gut. Slaughter orders Shawn to defend the WWF Championship against Owen Hart tonight before wishing DX a happy new year.
The Disciples of Apocalypse (Skull, 8-Ball, Chainz), The Headbangers (Thrasher and Mosh), Scott Taylor and Flash Funk plot against Kane in the locker room.
"Thea World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock beats Kama Mustafa with the ankle lock after Faarooq distracts the referee only for D'Lo Brown to accidentally kick Kama Mustafa in the side of the head from the apron. After the match, "The Rock" Rocky Maivia, finally shows up and says he has received a lot of fan mail and phone calls asking how he feels about he elderly and Social Security, and says that as long as his pockets are lined with green, he doesn't give a damn about either of those things. He tells Shamrock that he thought he was lucky, but after tonight, he's lucky as hell. Next week, the luck streak will run out, as Shamrock will come face-to-face with Faarooq, who is amazed by this statement. He tells Shamrock that he has seven days before he gets his bad ass kicked. He tells D'Lo and Kama to know their role, and tells Faarooq to head to the back. Faarooq is still staring a hole through The Rock even after this.
In footage form earlier today, Vince McMahon says that the seats around him will be filled by WWF fans. As WWF looks back on the year 1997, the WWF thanks the fans for all the moments they've shared together while committing that 1998 will be the most action-packed year ever. Vince then says "As the old saying goes: you ain't seen nothin' yet."
Before the next match, Jerry "The King" Lawler is in the ring with "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher. Lawler can't believe that he and Christopher have to face Taka Michinoku and a mystery partner tonight, but at the same time, they don't care who it is. Lawler also says that Christopher's father is none other than Jim Ross, and that Christopher will be refereed to as "Good Ol' B.C." After Taka shows up, it is announced that his mystery partner is George "The Animal" Steele, who immediately chases Lawler and Christopher out of the ring before tearing up two turnbuckles.
Jerry "The King" Lawler and "Too Sexy" Brian Christopher beat Taka Michinoku and George "The Animal" Steele by disqualification when Steele uses a foreign object to counter one being used by Lawler. After the match, The Animal grabs a drink container from underneath the ring and throws it at referee Jimmy Korderas.

The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) show up in New York Rangers jersey and with hockey sticks in their hands. We then see a video package of their "greatest hits," where they gloat about injuring Dude Love and putting Mankind in a walk-in freezer. All of a sudden, Dude Love's music plays, then Dude Love appears on the TitanTron. He says they broken his ribs and his heart, and that they did not play by the rules. He announces he will step down and let another man do the fighting for him. Dude Love then transforms into Mankind, and says he has been looking forward to this moment. His body may have thawed out, but his heart remains frozen, which is bad news for The New Age Outlaws. He then realizes that they may not have committed a crime, but instead gave him a favor, because it's all starting to make sense. They're on Raw in Long Island, New York, and he's finally home. He transforms into Cactus Jack, and says he's going to kick their asses. He also tells Mrs. Foley that he's not alone and has help in the form of "Chainsaw Charlie." Cactus Jack then shows up with a barbed wire baseball bat, and The New Age Outlaws immediately go to town on him. It doesn't take long until Cactus Jack puts both men in the Mandible Claw, and the match starts.
Cactus Jack beats The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) by disqualification after the match continues to spiral out of control. After the match, Cactus Jack dares The New Age Outlaws to follow him, and the fight goes to the stage. After Cactus Jack sends Jesse James into the wooden crate, a chainsaw starts cutting through the crate. Inside is Chainsaw Charlie, who chases after The New Age Outlaws with a chainsaw. The New Age Outlaws have no choice but to run away.
Sable shows up, and it is announced that Sable is on split covers of the newest issue of Raw Magazine, available on newsstands tomorrow. She is proud of the new swimsuit issue available, and decides to give the fans a preview of what to expect. "Marvelous" Marc Mero shows up with a steel chair in his hands as Sable is about to disrobe, and asks her if she would do anything to humiliate him. Sable says "no," and Mero says people came here to see him wrestler, not to see her take her clothes off. Kevin Kelly tells Mero to take it easy, but Mero tells Sable that she'd be nothing without him and calls Kevin Kelly "a third-string announcer" before hitting him with a low blow. Mero then yells at Sable again, then Tom Brandi gets in the ring and strikes Mero from behihnd before helping Sable out of the ring. Mero then hits Tom Brandi from behind with the steel chair before hitting him with the TKO and stuffing the cover of the new Raw Magazine down his throat and a picture of Sable from the magazine in his trunks. Mero then says that if he sees any more posters, pictures or magazine covers of Sable, he'll do to the entire crowd what he did to Brandi. He then says that he is the star of this show.

The Disciples of Apocalypse (Skull, 8-Ball, Chainz), The Headbangers (Thrasher and Mosh), Scott Taylor and Flash Funk are in the ring. Chainz grabs the microphone and tells Kane that if he thinks The Undertaker has burned him, then they haven't been burned by The Disciples of Apocalypse and everyone else in the ring. Chainz then calls Kane out so they can put his fire out. Kane and Paul Bearer show up, then The Undertaker follows suit. Kane and The Undertaker stare down, then they suddenly join forces and fight off all seven men. They then stare down again, and The Undertaker leaves the ring. Paul Bearer is shocked, as is Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler. The Undertaker then speaks into the camera, saying he will not fight Kane and that he will burn in Hell before he does.
Michael Cole interviews The New Age Outlaws ("Road Dog" Jesse James and "Bad Ass" Billy Gunn) backstage, who are more worried about Chainsaw Charlie than they are about their tag team title defense against The Legion of Doom (Road Warrior Animal and Road Warrior Hawk) at Royal Rumble. The buzzing sound of a chainsaw is heard, and a chainsaw cuts through the door to the locker room. Cole and the Outlaws run for the hills while Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie look for the Outlaws.
Jim Cornette talks about the state of the wrestling industry in 1998. He says the state of wrestling stinks. He says the WCW and nWo stinks, that ECW is embarrassing and that the WWF stinks. He talks about The Artist Formerly Known As Goldust and Luna Vachon dressed up as a Christmas tree and a reindeer, respectively, as well as "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels and "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley "showing their buttcheeks on national TV and having a phony match for a championship." He says that nobody has respect for wrestling anymore and asks where wrestling - not "sports entertainment" - is. Just a couple of years ago, he left Tennessee and moved to Connecticut to work in the WWF full-time, which he compares to "trading a Hawaiian vacation for a bed in the cancer ward." He talks about how in Connecticut, there is snow seven months out of the year, there are real estate prices that would make Donald Trump's hair stand on end, and there is the rudest bunch of people he's ever seen where English is a second language and traffic jams occur at four o'clock in the morning. Over the last couple of years, however, he says he hasn't seen any wrestling. He admits there are plenty of great wrestlers in the WWF, but they don't have any time to wrestle due to everything else going on. He says the problem is that "a game show host from Minneapolis with phony hair, phony teeth and a phony tan" is running WCW while the WWF is run by Yankees up north in Connecticut who wouldn't know a wrestling match if it bit them as they sit around all day listening to fans on the Internet who wouldn't know a wrist lock from a wrist watch. He doesn't care what some Yankee from New York City wants to see; he wants to see wrestling matches with wrestlers. He wants to see real, old-fashioned wrestling and people with respect for the traditions of the wrestling industry and the sport of wrestling in general. He doesn't want to see sports entertainment and flying donkey all around. He thinks it's garbage, insulting and a shame to a fine sport. Down South, they know wrestling and grew up on it and respected it. He says it's about time that the promoters in today's industry realize that wrestling fans watching a wrestling program want to see wrestlers wrestle. The problem is that nobody has respect for tradition like he does, and says he has always been associated with real, good, old-fashioned wrestling and not a circus sideshow. If nobody else wants to bring wrestling over here, then maybe it's going to be up to him. He says it might as well be his New Year's resolution for 1998 to bring tradition and real wrestling back to the WWF.
Sunny shows up and shows off her cover for the newest issue of Raw magazine, as well as a fold-out poster of her in a swimsuit. It is then announced that former world heavyweight boxing championship "Iron" Mike Tyson has started negotiations to appear at WrestleMania 14 on March 29th in Boston, Massachusetts. Details of his WrestleMania appearance will be elaborated on when updates are available.
Owen Hart beats "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels by disqualification after "Triple H" Hunter Hearst Helmsley hits Owen Hart with one of his crutches and continues to do so. The referee is knocked down as the match ends. "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels retains the WWF Championship.

The Ultimate Dragon beats Dean Malenko to win the WCW Cruiserweight Championship, shortly after Sonny Onoo distracts Malenko on the apron, which forces Malenko to let go of the Texas Cloverleaf. With the Cruiserweight Championship, The Ultimate Dragon now holds nine different titles.

Akira Hokuto beats Madusa to become the inaugural WCW Women's Champion after Sonny Onoo hits Madusa in the back with Madusa's American flag. Kensuke Sasaki, who is now married to Akira, tries to warn referee Nick Patrick, but it is too late. After the match, Kensuki Sasaki confronts Sonny Onoo for cheating in the match.

"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviews "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. He admits that "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan isn't exactly a walk in the park, and says that there are plenty of icons in professional wrestling, such as Dusty Rhodes, Strangler Lewis, and Gorgeous George. He also says he can call a kilt a dress because he's tough enough to. He says his whole life has been hard and that he's had to feed six kids. He also makes it perfectly clear that his hip is fine by jumping on one leg.

Jeff Jarrett beats "The Crippler" Chris Benoit in a no-disqualification match. During the match, "The Enforcer" Arn Anderson shows up and walks right past Benoit. Hugh Morrus and Konnan put their hands on Woman, but Woman fights back against them. Arn Anderson then DDTs Jarrett outside of the ring, and The Taskmaster hits Benoit in the back with a steel chair. Both men lay down face up, but Jarrett has his arm on Benoit and gets the win. Anderson then tells Woman, who is free of the grasp of The Dungeon of Doom, that this is all her fault. "Mean" Gene Okerlund is unable to interview Anderson, Jarrett or Benoit after the match, but it is clear that there is dissension among The Four Horsemen. Steve "Mongo" McMichael shows up with Debra McMichael, and Mongo says that he has been a winner all his life and that Woman has Benoit weak in the knees as he can't beat Jarrett even after Anderson hit Jarrett with the DDT. Debra says that Jarrett is Horsemen material and that Benoit and Woman are not, and that she's out of the league of every other man in America as she only has eyes for Steve McMichael.
The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) retain the WCW World Tag Team Championships against The Faces of Fear (Meng and The Barbarian). During the match, Syxx grabs Jimmy Hart's megaphone and chases Hart all the way to the back. Also, referee Nick Patrick is accused by commentary of counting too slow when The Faces of Fear go for a pinfall, being easily distracted and not checking on Scott Hall when The Barbarian puts him out with a nerve hold (Hall recovers nevertheless).
Ted DiBiase, Vincent, Miss Elizabeth and "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan are backstage with their own segment. DiBiase tells "Rowdy" Roddy Piper that he's gotten what he wanted, but he's going to regret it. Hogan says the preparations for his victory are already underway, as he says that he already has this match won. He plans to prove that he made this business and that he'll make it tomorrow, and that if it wasn't for him, the wrestling business wouldn't even be on the map.
Eddie Guerrero beats Diamond Dallas Page to win the vacant WCW United States Heavyweight Championship! During the match, Syxx and The Outsiders (Kevin Nash and Scott Hall) show up, with Syxx and Nash distracting the referee while Nash hits DDP with the Outsider's Edge as retaliation for Page not joining The New World Order. Eddie doesn't see The New World Order until after the match, and Eddie fights all three men off until the numbers game works against him when they return to the ring. Syxx steals the brand-new United States Heavyweight belt, and Nash and Hall tell Page that he doesn't get it as Page is laid out in the corner.
Lex Luger beats The Giant. During the match, The Giant sends Lex Luger right into referee Randy Anderson when he kicks out of a pinfall. Referee Nick Patrick shows up and kicks Lex Luger in the back of the knee when Luger gets The Giant in a torture rack. As Sting walks through the crowd, Syxx shows up and attacks Lex Luger before ring. Sting finally gets in the ring and pushes Nick Patrick out of the ring before whispering something, first to Luger, then to the Giant. He then heads back to the back, leaving his baseball bat in the ring. Both men go for the bat, and when The Giant grabs Luger, Luger punches The Giant in the ring before smashing the baseball bat into the leg of the Giant. Referee Randy Anderson somehow manages to make the three count when Luger goes for the pinfall. After months of nWo domination, WCW finally gets its first big victory against The New World Order.
"Rowdy" Roddy Piper beats "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan with a sleeper hold. During the match, The Giant tries to choke slam Piper as Hogan keeps the referee at bay, but Piper bites him. A fan tries to get in the ring but is quickly subdued by security with help from referee Randy Anderson. It is afterwards that Piper locks the sleeper hold on Hogan. Ted DiBiase, who was in the ring during the match, shows back up with The Outsiders (Scott Hall and Kevin Nash), and Piper fights both men off before escaping out of the ring. Piper celebrates his win with his son Colton on the way back to the back, and The New World Order make their way to the back only for The Giant to confront Hogan, wanting to know where Hogan and The Outsiders where when he needed them, as he had their back. Hogan tells The Giant that he dropped the ball, and that they will talk later, but for now, the nWo still have the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Hogan then asks where Vincent is so Vincent can bring him his belt, as the nWo are still the winners. Ted DiBiase brings the WCW World Heavyweight Championship to Hogan, and Hogan tells Piper that he killed him and that he still has the World title before spitting into the camera.
