New Year's Smash - Rampage recap for December 27, 2024

"The Learning Tree" Chris Jericho beats Anthony Bowens. During the match, "The Bad Apple" Bryan Keith shows up and distracts referee Aubrey Edwards long enough to allow Bowens and "Platinum" Max Caster to hit Jericho with Scissor Me Timbers. Shortly after this, Bryan Keith grabs the ROH World Championship, and when "The Redwood" Big Bill distracts referee Aubrey Edwards, Keith gets in the ring with the title only for Caster to take it away from him and simulataneously inadvertently hit Bowens with the championship. This allows Jericho to get the pin and the win.

We see footage of Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) being hounded by paparazzi back home in New York City before the next match.

Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) beat Leo Sparrow and Alex Price. After the match, Lio Rush and Action Andretti show up, and they and Private Party brawl on the outside. All of a sudden, Top Flight (Darius and Dante Martin) jump in, and security shows up to restore order.

Backstage, we hear from Powerhouse Hobbs, who announces that at Worlds End, he will face "The Alpha" Konosuke Takeshita for the AEW International Championship. He says that every time he hears Don Callis' name, he thinks about all the times that he did not contact him while he was injured and constantly tried to replace him. He says that he will take Takeshita's title and bust his head to the white meat. He says the new year is upon us, but for The Don Callis Family, it will be a world's end.

Thunder Rosa beats Leila Grey by submission.

Hook beats "The Prodigy" Nick Wayne by submission with Redrum. During the match, Kip Sabian holds Hook down so that Christian can smash Hook's injured hand with his contract. This gets them and Mama Wayne ejected from ringside. Later on, Nick Wayne rips the cast off of Hook's injured arm to injure the hand even further. Near the end of the match, Christian and Kip Sabian return, but they are chased around the ring and back to the back by "The Wrestler" Katsuyori Shibata, who is carrying a large 2x4. After this, Nick Wayne fights off Redrum twice and goes for Wayne's World, but Hook catches him out of the air and makes him fade with Redrum on the third attempt.

Backstage, The Death Riders (Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, Wheeler Yuta, Marina Shafir) gang up on Darby Allin. Moxley tells Darby he has left him no choice and punches him in the gut, then Claudio wraps a metal folding chair around Darby's neck before stomping the chair. He removes the chair, then Moxley kicks Darby down a flight of stairs.

Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir are in the ring. Moxley tells the fans showering him with hate that he forgives them and asks them to look inward, then says he has had to make some tough decisions and difficult choices, as well as some unpopular decisions. He says a lot of people in AEW do not like him or what The Death Riders (Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, Wheeler Yuta, Marina Shafir) say or do, and that if anybody in the back that has a problem with him or his people or what they do, they can come to the ring and tells him what problems they have with what they are trying to accomplish. Komander suddenly shows up and is taken out by Claudio Castagnoli. PAC and Wheeler Yuta soon show up and join in on ganging up on Komander. Top Flight (Darius and Dante Martin) run to the ring, but they also get attacked. The Death Riders all go on the attack, then Orange Cassidy shows up and comes face to face with Marina Shafir. He is soon joined by Willow Nightingale, who fights Shafir as Orange heads to the ring while "Hangman" Adam Page and "Switchblade" Jay White come out of the crowd. Orange, Hangman and Switchblade get in the ring, then the locker room empties and fights all over the ring. Christian Cage is seen watching from one of the balconies before more security and more officials show up to try to restore order. Meanwhile, PAC and Wheeler Yuta go into the crowd and destroy the lighting control board, then Shafir grabs a cameraman while he and Moxley head to the production truck. As the locker room brawls in the dark, Moxley and Shafir head into the truck. Moxley says everyone is fighting for scraps, but he will put an end to the chaos at Worlds End, clear the playing field and bring peace to his people. He then puts an end to Rampage, and the show is immediately cut to black.

Holiday Bash - Rampage recap for December 20, 2024

Before the next match, The Don Callis Family (Don Callis, Kyle Fletcher, "The Alpha" Konosuke Takeshita, Lance Archer, "The Machine" Brian Cage) heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Callis says that his family are "the true one percenters of the wrestling business" and that they prove it every day, and says that Kyle Fletcher will win the Continental Classic. Fletcher says last Saturday was not a good day for him, but anyone who saw that match can see the bias from this company and that there is as agenda from AEW that does not allow them to succeed. He says that he will win the Continental Classic regardless, then says he does care about Daniel Garcia's feelings or restoring them, because all he speaks is facts and he is the hottest young prospect in the industry and the future of AEW. He says that "the one percent" is not like "the 99% in the back," including Mark Davis and Powerhouse Hobbs, whom he calls "a couple of scab workers." He says that he and Hobbs are not even in the same business and that they have waited until a pay-per-view to show why Takeshita is called "The Alpha" and Hobbs is not even on his level. Don Callis then guests on commentary.

The Don Callis Family ("The Alpha" Konosuke Takeshita and "The Machine" Brian Cage) beat Powerhouse Hobbs and Mark Davis.

In backstage footage from earlier today, Renee Paquette interviews Harley Cameron. Suddenly, Penelope Ford shows up when it is mentioned that Harley Cameron has yet to win a match in AEW and proposes an alliance, saiyng they can have each others' backs, which Cameron takes literally as a sign that she has something on her back.

Willow Nightingale beats Harley Cameron. After the match, Penelope Ford attacks Willow, and Harley joins in. Penelope and Harley flee when Kris Statlander slides into the ring. Statlander leaves before Willow can get answers.

Matt Cardona beats "The Bad Apple" Bryan Keith.

Toni Storm beats Harley Cameron.

"The Virtuosa" Deonna Purrazzo quickly beats Shazza McKenzie by submission with the Fujiwara Armbar.

Backstage, Alex Marvez interviews Kris Statlander. Statlander says she has not stopped thinking about her match at Full Gear, and neither has Mercedes Moné, who Statlander admits is everything that she says she is. Statlander says she came out of the match pretty beat up and that her next step forward is to just keep moving forward, and that she will be wrestling tomorrow night on Collision and every night after that and that she will be watching Anna Jay's upcoming match for the TBS Championship against Mercedes. Statlander then warns the winner of that match that she has unfinished business with the TBS title.

Tony Schiavone interviews The Don Callis Family (Don Callis, "The Protostar" Kyle Fletcher, "The Alpha" Konosuke Takeshita, Lance Archer). Don Callis says he is in the "getting over and making money business," as is the rest of his family, who he puts on a pedestal before asking Will Ospreay how it feels to be dominated by Kyle Fletcher and unable to be the same again. Callis also praises Fletcher for beating "The Rainmaker" Kazuchika Okada in the Continental Classic before asking Okada "How does it feel...bitch?" Callis then hands Fletcher the microphone, and Fletcher says the fans can boo him and cheer for Ospreay all they want, as it changes absolutely nothing as he is 25 years old, wearing a watch that costs more than the fans' cars, and he is winning the Continental Classic. He then tells Mark Briscoe to bring more than his redneck kung fu, as winning the Continental Classic is his destiny and nobody gets in the way of him and his destiny. Callis calls his family "the one-percenters of AEW" and says there is nobody big or bad enough to get in the ring with them.

Mark Davis and Powerhouse Hobbs beat The Don Callis Family (Lance Archer and "The Alpha" Konosuke Takeshita). After the match, Takeshita tries to hit Hobbs with the AEW International Championship, but Hobbs blocks it, hits Takeshita with a spinebuster, and holds up the International Championship above a downed Takeshita to end the show.

"The Learning Tree" Chris Jericho leaves commentary to enter the ring. Jericho says that he challenged anyone from New York City to face him at Final Battle for the Ring of Honor World Championship only to be interrupted by Matt Cardona, then says nobody touches a man's hat and that "us native New Yorkers do not stand for that." Jericho says Cardona should be lucky that he did not punch his face and knock his teeth down his throat when he "accosted and assaulted" him last night. He says that if Cardona were here right now, he would have no idea what he would do to him. Cardona suddenly shows up, and the crowd chants "Always ready!" before Cardona saying that he is always ready for any opportunity and that Final Battle may be the biggest opportunity of his career. He then tells Jericho that he is not the same kid that he met fifteen years ago, as he has been busting his ass for the past five years to reinvent himself, then says he will prove himself right and beat Jericho for the ROH World Championship. Jericho says that he respects everything Cardona has done and has become a bigger star now than he was in the past fifteen years, but even after all Cardona has accomplished, he is still "just Zack." Jericho slaps Cardona, and Cardona slaps back before going for the ground and pound. "The Bad Apple" Bryan Keith rushes in and attacks Cardona, and the numbers game takes over before Bryan Keith holds Cardona down so that Jericho can smack him with the ROH World Championship. Jericho then holds Cardona down so that Bryan Keith can wrap a belt around his fist and punch Cardona in the face.

Lexy Nair oversees a weigh-in between QT Marshall and Big Boom AJ before their match on Zero Hour at Full Gear. Before the weight-in, Marshall says "Enough with the booms," as he is bringing the doom, and tells AJ that he did not have what it took twenty years ago and that he still does not have it now. AJ says that Marshall has been waiting twenty years to get him in the ring, but he has been waiting since he tossed the double chunk chocolate cookies, then proclaims that he wants The Rizzler to ring the bell when he beats him. The weigh-in then begins. QT Marshall weighs in at 229 lbs., while Big Boom AJ weighs in at 550 lbs. As Marshall mocks AJ, Big Justice immediately notes that Marshall rigged the scale, but the scale will not matter when AJ brings the boom Saturday night. After a staredown, AJ is able to block a cheap shot from Marshall, who then answers with a cutter.

Thunder Rosa says she has not had a lucha libre match in some time, and issues an open challenge to any luchadora or women's wrestler who wants to step between the ropes and face her. Harley shows up wearing a Hologram mask, calling herself "Harleygram" before accepting her challenge, all while acting robotic. Thunder Rosa sees right through this, mentioning that she beat her in the Day of the Dead Match a few weeks ago, but Harley insists Thunder Rosa does not know what she is talking about. When Thunder Rosa says she will yank Harley's cord and shut her up, Harley lets the act slip for a moment before returning to it and leaving, with Thunder Rosa being left annoyed that she has to face Harley again.

We hear from Ricochet, who says that he has pinned "The Alpha" Konosuke Takeshita once and that he will do it again to win the International Championship at Full Gear.

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews Anna Jay. Anna says it worth the risk to see "The Glamour" Mariah May's eyes bulge out of her head until she passes out. Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews MVP. MVP says that he is scouting talent in AEW, and as he been getting the lay of the land, he sees a lot of talent with untapped potential. He says that some of them need motivation or better management, but others need to need to be hurt and beaten down to their knees again and again just to be taught how to stand to put on a path to success. He says Swerve Strickland has so much to learn but will not listen, and while the fans love Swerve's arrogance, it is his greatest weakness. He says that Swerve thinks that one man can beat three and calls himself "the most dangerous man in AEW," and that arrogance, much like pride, "goeth before the fall." He says he will be watching Ricochet in the main event as well as Komander, and tomorrow night, Shelton Benjamin will find out what Komander is made off and what lessons Komander needs to learn.

Roddy says Mortos is his friend, but if Mortos wants to try, they can do it on Collision, as he needs another win to face MJF. Roberts says "Oh, my God...such a fool," then walks away snickering.

We hear from The Vendetta ("The Virtuosa" Deonna Purrazzo and Taya Valkyrie). Purrazzo says a girl once broke her arm, so she broke both of hers, as it was retribution. Taya says a man broke his heart once, then she stabbed his tires, as it was revenge. Purrazzo says it is satisfying to collect what is owed, but sometimes that is not enough, and sometimes it is more than simple reprises; it is about sending a message not just to the intended targets, as they may not be around for long, but to everyone else so that they know who to avoid. Taya tells anyone wanting to send them a message that they know where to find them.
