Collision Course - Collision recap for November 17, 2023

Tony Schiavone interviews Christian Cage, Luchasaurus and Nick Wayne in the ring to start tonight's show. Christian Cage says the town is full of "plastic, phony people" who are about to hear someone speak the truth, and it is lucky for them that they not only get to see Sting's final match in Los Angeles and his final match ever, which he guarantees, as he is tried of looking at Sting and his facepaint and watching people bow down to him and call him an icon while he lives off his past and steals a check like he has for the last fifteen years. He also looks forward to Darby Allin losing a mentor, and tells Darby that if he ever needs that fatherly guidance, he knows who to look for. As for "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Christian says that if he sticks his nose in his business, it will be "his literal 'Come to Jesus' moment." Christian also says that Adam Copeland will regret ever signing a contact with All Elite Wrestling, and that while Copeland can fool everyone into thinking that he is here to tag with him one more time, nobody knows him better than he does and he knows Copeland wants to steal his spotlight. He says he is not the same person that he was back then, and while Copeland was coddled and handed all sorts of opportunities, he was stuck in the trenches fighting for every inch, and they will see whose career path served them better. He also tells Beth Phoenix to keep the kids up tomorrow night, as he will break Copeland's neck. Christian then states that AEW wants him on their programming as much as they can, then says he can beat the participants in tonight's four-way match to decide a new #1 contender for the TNT Championship all at the same time and that he will keep running things in AEW, for he is the system.

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews Big Bill and "Absolute" Ricky Starks. Big Bill says they are the best tag team ever in history, no question, and that he and Starks do not even need to be pinned to lose their tag tema titles. Starks says that he was allowed to pick a stipulation to favor them, and he is picking a ladder match. He says they do not need acronyms to prove why they are the best, for when they walk out of Los Angeles, they are walking out in style as champions and the greatest tag team anyone has ever seen.

Miro beats Daniel Garcia with Game Over. During the match, "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard shows up to stop Daniel Garcia from dancing, but Miro inadvertently runs into him when he tries to take advantage and knocks Menard off the apron.

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews CJ Perry and Andrade el Idolo. Andrade says he is happy as of late, and CJ Perry says that Andrade has been born to do this and that she is entering him into the Continental Classic, with Andrade getting paid a bonus if he wins thanks to CJ Perry talking to Tony Khan. Andrade is taken aback, but after CJ Perry whispers into his ear, he likes the idea.

The House of Black (Malakai Black and Brody King) beat The Boys (Brandon and Brent Tate).

We see a video package for Julia Hart vs. Skye Blue vs. Kris Statlander for the AEW Women's World Championship at Full Gear.

Trent Beretta beats Komander, "The Machine" Brian Cage and Penta el Zero Miedo in a Fatal 4-Way to face Christian Cage later tonight for the TNT Championship.

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews Don Callis and Powerhouse Hobbs. Don Callis says Paul Wight is out on the shelf and done after Hobbs slammed him through the hood and windshield of a car. Hobbs says anyone can get it, and he took out a living legend of a giant, and while he knows Paul Wight is convalescing in a hospital, he tells him to stay away, because anyone can get it.

Wardlow quickly beats Evan Daniels.

Big Bill and "Absolute" Ricky Starks guest on commentary for the next match.

Dax Harwood vs. Rush ends with "Absolute" Ricky Starks hitting Rush with a Spear before Big Bill attacks Dax Harwood. Cash Wheeler gets into the ring and fights Big Bill, then Dralistico shows up and jumps into the brawl. Malakai Black and Brody King also show up, and Brody King and Big Bill have a staredown before pulling a ladder out from underneath the ring. Dralistico kicks the ladder away before he and Cash Wheeler take them out on the outside, then referees rush in to break up the brawl.

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews Action Andretti. Andretti's medical update on Darius Martin is interrupted by Roderick Strong and The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett), with Bennett stating that Darius has "a bruised ego and a weak ass neck" before Taven tells Andretti to stop embarrassing himself with his haircut. Andretti tells them to shut up, then Roderick declares Action Andretti his next victim.

Buddy Matthews beats Wheeler Yuta. After the match, Buddy brings a chair into the ring, but he retreats when Claudio Castagnoli shows up. Claudio says that is Buddy wanted their attention, all he had to do was ask, and that Buddy has pissed him off for the last few weeks and would hate to leave Los Angeles without kicking some ass. He then challeges Buddy Matthews to a match at Full Gear.

We see a video package for Jon Moxley vs. Orange Cassidy for the AEW International Championship at Full Gear.

Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida beats The Outcasts (Saraya and Ruby Soho) as "Cool Hand" Angelo Parker watches from the stands and also inadvertently distracts Saraya as he helps Ruby Soho on the outside.

In backstage footage from earlier today, Tony Schiavone interviews MJF. MJF admits that The Gunns (Austin and Colten Gunn) are "very ugly" but also very talented, and that he will do whatever it takes to keep the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Championships to uphold his promise to keep the tag titles for when Adam Cole gets back from injury, which he blames himself for. As for "Switchblade" Jay White, the AEW World Championship means everything to him and symbolizes all his hard work, and that Jay White - who reminds MJF of the parts of himself he despises - stole the title because he is insecure, and that the man makes the championship and that Jay White will lose because he is not on his level. On the subject of being world champion for close to a year, MJF says that the likelihood of that happening has always been "slim to none," and while the likelihood of winning both of his match at Full Gear is also slim to none, he likes those odds.

Collision Course - Collision recap for August 21, 2023

"The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson beats Andrade el Idolo with a backslide pin following a chain of pinfall attempts between both men. Both men shake hands after the match, then the lights go out. When they come back on, Malakai Black is in the ring, and he immediately hits Danielson with a Black Mass. The lights go out again as The Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta) get in the ring, but when they come back on, Malakai is gone.

We hear from Darby Allin, who says Nick Wayne kept listening to what the fans when their words never mattered. He says that he took out one of Nick Wayne's teeth next week, and after his shoulder heals, he will take a whole lot more.

Skye Blue beats Hollyhood Haley J (known as just Hollywood Haley here).

The Gunns (Austin and Colten Gunn) beat The Outrunners (Truth Magnum and Turbo Floyd). After the match, the lights go out, and when they come back, the man in the devil mask is seen on the video screen. He looks away from the mirror briefly, then looks back into it before the image cuts to black.

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews Orange Cassidy. Kris Statlander shows up as soon as Lexy Nair mentions her, then says she needs a pump and lifts Lexy Nair up and does some squats with Lexy on her shoulders. When asked if he is ready, Orange says "Yeah, I'm ready, I guess."

Memphis Wrestling commentator legend Dave Brown guests on commentary for the next match.

Jeff Jarrett beats Eddie Kingston in a chaotic Memphis Street Fight. As per pre-match stipulation, Jay Lethal gets a match against Eddie Kingston for the Ring of Honor World Championship.

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews The Acclaimed ("Platinum" Max Caster, Anthony Bowens, "Daddy Ass" Billy Gunn). Max Caster is obviously on a transitional phase on trying to socialize normal, and Billy Gunn and Anthony Bowens make it known that their challengers cannot get along and need to get in the game before stating that they will retain.

CJ Perry watches the next match from ringside.

Miro beats Action Andretti with Game Over after the referee realizes that Action Andretti is out.

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard, Anna Jay, Daniel Garcia and "Cool Hand" Angelo Parker. Anna Jay says they are on the same page and the same team, they are professionals, and that they will win. Menard says they had a family breakfast this morning with no dancing, but Anna Jay tells Menard to knock it off, even as Menard says it was a joke. As everyone leaves, Ruby Soho shows up for her interview, and this leads to a conversation where Ruby is able to relate to Angelo Parker's "family problems" before Angelo says that before the night is over, he will become a champion. After Parker leaves, Ruby Soho then says she deserves a championship and that she will become one.

We see Rush conduct business with the rest of La Faccion Ingobernable (Jose the Assistant, Dralistico, Preston Vance). Rush says he has worked too hard to get to AEW and not get any opportunities because he is "too dangerous" and see everyone else get what he deserves.

Backstage, Eddie Kingston says he made Jay Lethal jump through hoops to get his title shot for a reason. He says Jay Lethal used to be someone he respected until he became "Jeff Jarrett's little bitch." He tells Jay Lethal not to bring his friends and his parents to the match if he is a real man before calling him by his real first name of Jamar, and says that his mother will be crying for him because he lost his way. He says Lethal may have gotten his title shot, but he tells Lethal to find his way before coming at him again.

FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) vs. Bad Thad Brown and Darian Bengston ends with the lights going out and The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, Buddy Matthews) attacking FTR, with FTR's challengers nowhere in sight after the lights come back on.

"Absolute" Ricky Starks and Big Bill retain the AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta) after The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, Buddy Matthews) shows up again and attacks The Blackpool Combat Club on the outside. After the match, The House of Black attack Yuta, and when "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson gets in the ring, they and Starks attack him. FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) get in the ring to even the numbers game, but they are still overpowered. Suddenly, Jon Moxley shows up and gets in the ring, and The House of Black, Ricky Starks and Big Bill are sent into a retreat. Starks gets back in the ring, but he is laid out by FTR. Claudio Castagnoli ends the show with another Giant Swing on Starks.

We hear from The Acclaimed ("Platinum" Max Caster, Anthony Bowens, "Daddy Ass" Billy Gunn), Action Andretti, Dante Martin, Bullet Club Gold ("Switchblade" Jay White, "Rock Hard" Juice Robinson, Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn) and "Absolute" Ricky Starks before tonight's show.

Tony Schiavone interviews "Absolute" Ricky Starks in the ring to start tonight's show. As the crowd chants "You deserve it," Starks says he has never agreed with a city more in his life, then shows off the Louis Vuitton bag he won with his Owen Hart Tournament winnings and that his grabbing the rope to pin CM Punk will not matter in twenty years. He says nobody will care how he did and that anyone else would have done what he done. He quickly states that he meant no disrespect to Jushin "Thunder" Liger last week, then states that he does not want to be a pillar, especially when none of them have won the Owen Hart Tournament. CM Punk shows up, but tells Starks and says he is more mad at himself and that he is proud of Starks, as he cannot stand an honest man and say he never cheated and pretend the fans have not done so, either. He says that if the New Jersey Devil had the same wherewithal as Starks, they would have made it past the first round, he says that he can live with his loss before asking Starks if he can live with his win after how he beat him. As CM Punk leaves, Starks says his bag isn't the same as CM Punk's, and Punk comes back and and asks Starks if he wants a shot at what is in the bag or if he just does not want him to have it before calling himself "the real world's champion." Suddenly, Christian Cage and Luchasaurus show up, and Christian says that while they are contractually obligated to be here, Punk and Starks are taking too long and he does not want to be in New Jersey any longer than he has to be. Christian then asks Punk what kind of man carries around a championship he did not win, then reminds the fans that he and Luchasaurus are the faces of TNT now and forever before Darby Allin walks by and takes the microphone from Christian's hand on the way to the ring. Darby tells Starks that anyone who is ride or die for AEW is a pillar in his book, such as his good friend CM Punk, then tells Christian and Luchasaurus that he will become the new face of TNT and put some respect on the TNT Championship. After calling Luchasaurus some guy who took a bunch of psychedelics and thinks he is a dinosaur now, Darby then proposes a tag team match between himself and CM Punk vs. Ricky Starks and Christian Cage. Tony Khan makes it official for tonight soon afterwards.

In footage from earlier today, Andrade el Idolo finds out from security that he has been barred from the building. (Two of the security guards are LSG and Rhett Titus.)

Bullet Club Gold ("Switchblade" Jay White and "Rock Hard" Juice Robinson) beat Action Andretti and Dante Martin. After the match, The Gunn Club briefly attack Andretti and Dante Martin.

Before the next match, Miro is attacked from behind by Nick Comoroto, who ends up being Miro's opponent for the next match.

Miro beats Nick Comoroto with Game Over.

We see a video package of FTR's (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) time in AEW.

The House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, Buddy Matthews) retain the AEW World Trios Championships against The Acclaimed ("Platinum" Max Caster, Anthony Bowens, "Daddy Ass" Billy Gunn). After the match, Malakai Black whispers something into Billy Gunn's ear before The House of Black leaves. Afterwards, Billy Gunn removes his boots and leaves them in the center of the ring before heading to the back alone.

Tony Schiavone interviews FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) in the ring. Cash Wheeler talks about their title match with MJF and Adam Cole, and while he admits they are fan favorites, the trustworthiness between them is a different matter, especially when he saw what kind of person MJF is in The Pinnacle. He warns Adam Cole to listen when MJF tells you what kind of person he is and to not trust him, as they will not beat FTR next week. Dax Harwood talks about how he got a job at a cash and carry and how he was bullied and promised to beat up the bullies one day, then says he has seen this story before. He also addresses MJF and Cole's comedy skits and dance break, then says he has done everything he could for the last ten years to make FTR the greatest team in professional wrestling and that he will take out on them what he should have done to his teenage bullies.

Taya Valkyrie beats Skye Blue. After the match, Taya Valkyrie says New Jersey is worse than she thought and states that while things have not gone her way lately, she got the victory tonight. She also mentions that Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. has been winning as of late. She says that Britt Baker has won recently on Dynamite, albeit against "an extra," then challenges Britt Baker to a match next week before daring her to come out and play.

Christian Cage and "Absolute" Ricky Starks beat CM Punk and Darby Allin after Luchsaurus stops the Coffin Drop as the referee is dealing with CM Punk and Christian on the outside. Darby goes for a jackknife pin, but Starks reverses it and grabs the bottom rope for leverage to ensure the win.

After the match, MJF says he was supposed to have the day off, but he had to come to "crappy ass Hamilton" which is full of "the dumbest, most worthless pieces of trash" he has ever seen in his life. He also says he can beat anybody in the back who is from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada who is in the back, and he will even put the AEW World Championship on the line. A larger man shows up, but all of a sudden, "All Ego" Ethan Page stops him and heads to the ring instead. As MJF tells Ethan Page he is not on his level, Ethan Page slaps the microphone out of his hand and that not only does MJF does not even know what he is capable of, everyone else in the back does not care. He talks about how his father moved to Hamilton and worked his way up to being president of multiple companies before telling him that he is not a "bare minimum bitch" like MJF. He then says that MJF is not his champion and that he is the man who AEW calls to do something and not MJF, then says that AEW will pay him back for all the extra stuff he does in due time and that now is "due time." Ethan then dares MJF to put his money where his mouth is and stay true to his word against him, and MJF actually does. This starts a match.

The Gunns state that Bullet Club Gold have travelled the world and that Jay White is a grand slam champion, and state that in the last sixteen months, they have become tag team champions and beaten everyone's favorites. Austin says they are the future, but Colten says they are the present and the best tag team in the world. When Schiavone mentions that the rest of Bullet Club Gold is banned from ringside for the next match, Jay White says that Schiavone is just making things up. He then addresses CM Punk, saying that if the goody in his bag is the AEW World Championship, he should leave it in the bag. At the start of the show, CM Punk heads to the ring in his first AEW appearance since All Out 2022, with a pair of boots around his neck and a red bag in his hand. CM Punk says that he is tired of being nice after being gone for ten months with a torn tricep, but he is still here, and as long as he is, this is the professional wrestling business. He calls it "a business for grown-ups" and not a popularity contest he would have lost a long time ago, then admits that 15-year-old him never would have guessed he had no idea he would sell out so many venues as a professional wrestler. He tells the fans to tell him when he is telling lies (which he does a few more times during his promo). Punk says he is tired of being nice and that he got here on the backs of passionate fans, and he has never fit in more in any place other than professional wrestling, and says he loves the fans and that the fans love him because he has never compromised. After stating that the fans made it possible, Punk admits there are people who hate him for the same reason the fans love him, and that his presence makes people uncomfortable because he is the truth and the truth make people uncomfortable. He tells the fans to call him what they want, love him, hate him, cheer him and boo him and that people hate him because they know he is right, and that he is a genuine article in "a world of counterfeit bucks." Punk then says that the king is back and that he has a lot of things to get off his chest, then asks why he would change when he will always speak truth to power, be himself and never compromise. He says that he has become older and wiser in his years, and sorry that the only people softer than the fans are the wrestlers they like, and states that he is holding what is inside his red bag only because he won his dog collar match and that it is his until someone pins or submits him for it. Moxley tells Tanahashi that he has been chasing him for a long time and that now, Tanahashi is here in all of his glory. He also says there are a lot of titles and tournament, but only Tanahashi is "The Ace." He says that will not be for long, because he is the best professional wrestler on the planet while others are just pretenders as he lives it day in and day out, and that everything is on the line because he plays for keeps. Moxley says that when the dust settles, Tanahashi will call him "Ace." As Tanahashi is about to speak, Chris Jericho, Tay Conti and Sammy Guevara show up. Jericho says Moxley is in the ring only because he was not there last week, then tells him to leave the ring before he burns him face. Adam Cole says Forbidden Door is about The Undisputed Era and Bullet Club and that him versus Jay White is best for business before stating that Okada will not be at Forbidden Door. Jay White then enters the ring from behind Page and hits Page with Blade Runner. Jay White says Adam Page does not call the shots and says that if he will put the IWGP World Heavyweight title against anyone, it will not be Page. He also tells Cole it will not be against him, either, as he holds the prize and the power and this is the "Switchblade Era."

The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) beat Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus in a Ladder Match to become the first-ever two-time AEW World Tag Team Champions. (Jeff and Matt Hardy were originally part of the match, but they are removed from it following Jeff Hardy's recent DUI arrest in Florida.) Suddenly, Hiroshi Tanahashi shows up on the stage.

MJF heads to the ring. MJF says he is in a lot of pain after what happened on Sunday, yet people want to hear him talk. He says that the big wigs are here to watch the product and that it would be a shame if something bad happened. He says that while the boss has been hashing things out, it is too little, too late. He says that he had to write his own ticket to AEW and create moment after moment for it only to get no respect. He says that everything he touches turns to gold and that there is nothing he cannot do, and he hits grand slams - not home runs - on a weekly basis, and has to be perfect instead of being great because he is the only guy capable of carrying the company like he has for months. He questions the clapping of the crowd when the fans were also calling him "an unprofessional piece of shit," then says that if the big boys want his spot, they can have it, because he does not want it anymore. MJF calls the fans "uneducated marks" and act like their opinions are worth a damn when they "don't know shit" and that their opinions suck and change at the drop of a dime, then says that he is the best in the world and the only guy who makes people feel. He says that he does not have to do "a bunch of bullshit" to do that, then says that he is a generational talent and that nobody has this figured out. MJF then wants to know why he is booed while Darby is cheered, then realizes that people hate them because he reminds them they are not successful while Darby is like the fans but knows he cannot function in society. He says that Darby is just like the fans and while never wins, and while he may feel cool now, he is a loser when he gets in the ring. MJF says Darby will lose to him at Full Gear because he is weak and too concerned with battering him instead of beating him. MJF then says that even if Allin can change his ways in ten days, he is still the better wrestler, and says he has not been beaten because he is so good that he can beat Allin with a headlock takeover. Allin, who is sitting in the rafters, admits that he may be an outcast, then says he will maintain his composure and have a wrestling match. Omega then calls Page "a try-hard just like [the fans]," and that The Elite have entertained the idea of taking him back and overlooking some things, then says that Page does not fit the bill for The Elite, who does not have any losers or failures in their group. Page hits Omega in the face, and The Elite gang up on Page before The Good Brothers hit him with a Magic Killer. Before The Elite can do much else, The Dark Order run in, but Evil Uno and Stu Grayson stop them in order to honor Page's wishes. Omega says that he has known Jungle Boy to be a promo guy, and says that he has nothing to say because he does not have the guts and because nobody is better than him on the microphone. Omega then gives Jungle Boy five seconds to say something, and Jungle tells Omega he talks way too much. Omega swings at Jungle Boy, but Jungle Boy ducks and the two men brawl.
