Memphis Thing - Memphis Wrestling recap for May 11, 2024

Pete Pranica guests on commentary for this week.

Derrick King and Ray Ray Sanders beat The L.A. Hustlers (Notorious Bradley and Ruffshot Lamont) in a tag team lumberjack match despite all the lumberjacks fighting each other on the outside.

Dustin Starr interviews Big John Dalton at the announce desk. Big John says that he recently made an important phone call to someone he loves dearly, but before he can bring that person out, Sir Matthew and Lord Gaston show up. Matthew says nobody cares who Big John was on the phone with, and asks him when he will figure out that he does not belong her and that Memphis Wrestling is their game. Big John then brings out who he was going to introduce: Buff Bagwell, who shows up and says Matthew and Gaston act tough when it is two-on-one, then proposes a tag team match. Matt and Gaston then point out the boot that Buff is wearing on his left foot. Buff also states that the tag team titles will be on the line for the match next week, assuming Matthew and Gaston want to take on someone more their size. Gaston accepts, proclaiming that Buff and Big John do not stand a chance.

"All The Way" Ray Collins beats Mike Anthony in seconds with the Sliced Bread in the corner as Mike Anthony mouths off at the fans. After the match, Mike Anthony says he could not do it again and runs at him. He blocks the Sliced Bread, but Ray Collins beats him again with an inside cradle. After this happens, Mike Anthony powerbombs Ray Collins off the top rope and demands another rematch, which gets granted. Mike Anthony has the upper hand at first and mockingly goes for the Sliced Bread, but Ray Collins counters with an Uranage, then hits the Sliced Bread three more times for a third victory.

Dustin Starr interviews Assistant Matchmaker Michael at the announce desk. Michael addresses Van Viciouss, and The Hollywood Clique ("Hollywood" Jimmy Blaylock, Van Viciouss, Secret Service) arrives. "Hollywood" Jimmy Blaylock stares down Michael and tells him to keep Van Viciouss' name out of his mouth and says he has never been a coward as he pokes him in the chest. Michael calls Van Viciouss "a white liver, no-good, yellow bellied coward," and Van Vicouss dares him to say it again. As the fans call Van Viciouss a coward, Michaels says everyone knows Viciouss is a coward. Viciouss hits him with a cheap shot before he and the secret service agents throw him in the ring and gang up on him. Referees show up as Jimmy Blaylock spray paints a yellow line on the back of Michael's suit jacket, and at this point, security shows up to get The Hollywood Clique to the back.

Sycho Simon beats Brad Martin by forfeit when Brad Martin fails to show. A disgruntled Simon responds by throwing a fan towards the ring and choking him with a chain as referees get him to stop.

Big John Dalton vs. Buff Bagwell vs. Sir Matthew and Lord Gaston for the Memphis Wrestling Tag Team Championships is official for next week.

The man with the brown robe and the walking stick is seen putting an axe and a baseball in a garbage can on his way to Memphis. He makes it to East Kiehl Avenue in Sherwood, Arkansas, which is where show sponsor KAPOW! Comics is located.

K-Toomer retains the Memphis Wrestling Heritage Championship against Maurice the Strong in dominant fashion despite The Twins of Salem (Jacksyn Crowley and Abel Booker) getting involved. After the match, Barnabas is furious.
