Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown 1200 recap for August 19, 2022

"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey suddenly shows up to start tonight's show. Ronda hijacks the show, saying she is not leaving the ring until her suspension is lifted. WWE official Adam Pearce shows up with security and says he cannot lift his suspension simply because he wants to. Pearce says that he gets she is upset, then respectfully asks her to leave the ring peacefully, but Ronda says she chose to leave peacefully last week, and tells Pearce not to make her choose violence. Pearce commands security to the ring, but Ronda lays waste to them the moment they put a hand on her, with one of them being put in an arm bar. Pearce calls out two police officers, and Ronda allows herself to be cuffed and sent away. Backstage, Ronda is put in the back of a police car. As the police car leaves, a black GMC Yukon pulls up, and Roman Reigns exits the vehicle.

Bayley, Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai show up in the front row with tickets to the show before the next match.

Toxic Attraction (Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne) beat Sonya Deville and Natalya to advance in the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship Tournament. (Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne replace Nikkita Lyons and Zoey Stark due to an injury to Nikkita Lyons.) Bayley, Iyo Sky and Dakota Kai leave the front row ater the match.

Sami Zayn finds out from a bodyguard that Roman Reigns wants to see him. Sami meets with Roman and admits that things are dicey between himself and The Usos, and says they do not appreciate what he has done from them lately. Roman surprisingly agrees with Sami, then Jey Uso calls. Roman has Sami pick up the phone, and Sami gets an earful from Jey, who mentions that he and Jimmy will not be in the building due to trouble at the border. When Sami mentions tonight's five-way #1 contender's match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, Roman tells Sami that the title would look good in The Bloodline. As Sami leaves, Roman asks him if he is still friends with Kevin Owens, and tells him to tell Owens that he does not owe anybody anything.

Maximum Male Models (Max Dupri, Maxine Dupri, Mace, Mansoor) are in the ring. Before Max Dupri can say much, Hit Row (B-Fab, Ashante "Thee" Adonis, Top Dolla) show up. Max Dupri tells Top Dolla and Adonis that they are not Maximum Male Model material, but that does not matter to Top Dolla and Adonis, who toss Mace and Mansoor right out of the ring. Hit Row then perform for the fans. Hit Row then perform for the fans. As they perform, Maxine Dupri likes what she is hearing, much to the frustation of Max Dupri.

We hear from Karrion Kross and Scarlett. Scarlett says the Devil's tongue cuts, then Kross mentions that something he said upset Drew McIntyre and that he wants to know why. He then says that McIntyre is a chosen one much like Roman Reigns, but when he failed, they chose someone else, and Roman built the table that McIntyre failed to set.

Sheamus beats Happy Corbin, Madcap Moss, Ricochet and Sami Zayn in a Fatal 5-Way to become #1 contender for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at Clash at the Castle. During the match, Sami Zayn is helped to the back due to injury, but he returns to the match under his own power. Sami nearly wins it, but his hopes are dashed after he is pulled out of the ring by Corbin, who soon gets Brogue Kicked by eventual winner Sheamus.

We see The Viking Raiders (Ivar and Erik) perform a Viking ritual. Ivar and Erik have black symbols painted on their forehead as they celebrate past battles and look forward to what is to come, and tell The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) that despite their greatness, their time has passed. They say that The New Day's folly has led them here, and a great battle awaits where the sun sets on The New Day and "a new Viking day" starts. They then burn an altar made of New Day merchandise to the ground.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Liv Morgan, who says that she cannot play it safe and sit on the sideline and see how good she is, and while she has a target on her left arm, it is nothing compared to the target on her back. She says that while there are those who will do anything to take the SmackDown Women's Championship away from her, she will do anything to keep it.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Shotzi says Liv Morgan is overly emotional and thinks with her heart, which is why she is trying to prove herself while injured. She says facing her was a bad decision that she will make Liv pay for dearly.

Liv Morgan beats Shotzi. After the match, Liv is attacked from behind by "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler, who goes for the injured arm. Baszler makes it clear to Liv she will break her arm, but Liv moves out of the way only to get kicked in the face.

It is announced that "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey has been released from jail on her own recognizance and that no charges have been filed.

Drew McIntyre finds Scarlett's hourglass backstage.

Roman Reigns heads to the ring. Roman says he is not here every week, and because of that, people are going to show up and "say stupid stuff." He says that if anyone other than him say they are the main event, the face of the company or the one carrying the company on their back, they are lying. Roman then says that he is the only one who can say all three of these things and that he is a man of his word. He says his word has substance, and that he has nothing to say to Drew McIntyre because he is beneath him. Drew McIntyre shows up and says Roman does not represent the WWE and Universal titles like they should be represented, and that he does not deserve to be champion. As Roman takes offense to this statement, Drew McIntyre mentions that Roman always has somebody helping him and that he can see fear and concern in Roman's eyes now that it is just them in the ring. McIntyre tells him that he will tear him apart and take the titles from him at Clash at the Castle, and since Roman is alone tonight, he is in the mood for a brawl. McIntyre and Roman brawl in the ring, and as McIntyre has the upper hand is going for the Claymore Kick, Sami Zayn gets in the ring and takes the kick so that Roman can McIntyre with a Superman Punch. Roman goes for the Spear, but McIntyre quickly gets back up and hits him with a Claymore Kick.
