She says that Roxanne is one of the best champions in NXT history, but she is not scared of the spotlight after competing in college soccer and she is "a WWE Superstar who used to play soccer," and that the cheers for her will get louder at No Mercy. Roxanne Perez shows up and forces Sarah Schreiber out of the interview to brag about how she ends everyone's stories in disappointment, then says Jaida has everything, but she is not "The Prodigy," and that there is no one better than her. Wes Lee says that they are both on different levels, but Wentz says that no one is prouder of his accomplishments than he is. He says that MSK (Wentz and Wes Lee) was the best tag team in NXT, and while he messed it up, Wes Lee became a star while he became a man. He says that everything motivated him to come back, and Wes Lee admits that while he loves the motivation, the win would only be good for nostalgia. He says that it is not 2022 anymore. Wentz reminds Wes Lee that he was about to quit NXT for the third time when he and Trey showed up. Wentz tells Wes that he always had his back, but Wes Lee says that they are on different levels. Wentz says that Wes Lee has underestimated him despite him wishing Wes success, and now he hopes to fail at No Mercy. Wes tells Wentz to forget everything they have ever done, as he will remind Wentz why he is "a WWE Superstar" while Wentz is "a TNA wrestler," but Wentz says he will beat Wes Lee's ass.

D'Angelo is amazed by Oba Femi, and Oba Femi says that while D'Angelo is a powerful man as "The Don of NXT," he is the ruler of NXT and he does not take disrespect. D'Angelo says that he does not take disrespect either, and says that they can handle things like men. Oba Femi says that he will wait until Sunday to handle things, but D'Angelo says he will prove Oba Femi mortal. Oba says others have tried and failed and that D'Angelo will be no different before leaving.

Joe Hendry heads to the ring for his second NXT concert. Hendry thanks the fans for choosing to spend their evening with him, as he a potentially career-defining opportunity against "All Ego" Ethan Page at No Mercy before thanking the fans for their support. To show his appreciation, he has written another song, this time about Ethan Page. Hendry makes fun of Ethan's hobbies as well as his "Karate Guy" character and a loop of Ethan Page lifting weights in a Bowser costume, then tells Ethan Page to put on some clothes. Ethan shows up just before the end of the song as two referees try to hold him back, saying that the sing-along is done and that Hendry will not embarrass him with out-of-context footage. The crowd continues to chant Hendry's song as a visibly bothered Ethan Page tells Hendry that he knows what is best for the people, which is keeping Hendry out of NXT and away from his title. General Manager Ava shows up and says Ethan Page should be flattered, then says she has things figured out and that because of his attack on the referees last week, their match will have a special guest referee: Trick Williams. Trick shows up in a sleeveless referee's shirt and black shorts as Ethan Page is visibly miffed. Ethan tries to attack Hendry with the NXT Championship, but Hendry ducks and hits Hendry with the Standing Ovation before Trick makes the three-count. As Hendry waves the NXT Championship from side to side, Pete Dunne tells Trick Williams that he will not make it to No Mercy.

As Baron is about to start their Dusty Cup celebration, Bron Breakker asks ring announcer Alicia Taylor to announce them as the winner of the Dusty Cup. She also names them "The Wolfdogs," much to the annoyance of Corbin, who says that Vengeance Day was off the charts and that they dominated, and that there is nobody in the company who can stop them. After Corbin jokes with Bron Breakker running into the top rope, Breakker says things go wrong running at twenty-three miles per hour and that Corbin would not have made it over the top rope if he didn't give him a boost. The both of them call out The D'Angelo Family (Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo), then Nathan Frazer and Axiom show up for the next match. Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker guest on commentary for the next match.

He says that Trick gave him everything he had, and if there is anyone who were to beat him, Trick would be a worthy champion. He then says it is his duty to call out one person: Carmelo Hayes. He says that Carmelo has been attacking him with false accusations for months and that there was no mental manipulation between himself and Trick, and that everyone can now see his true color. Dragunov says that Carmelo could not see Trick reaching new heights in NXT, and calls Carmelo Hayes "a traitorous son-of-a-bitch" as he promises to break him. When Carmelo fails to show, Dragunov tells Carmelo to show up before he fights him himself. Dijak shows up instead, and wants to know why Dragunov is obsessed with Carmelo and Trick. Dijak says the two of them are a couple of winners after Vengeance Day, but Dragunov says tonight is not the night and that he is not the man he should mess him tonight. Dijak says that Dragunov likes to call himself "unbesiegbar" but is looking "regular besiegbar" with a broken nose, and Dragunov tells Dijak to get out of his way and that Dijak will suffer like he has never suffered before when they cross paths again. She says she refuses to settle anything for less, because she wants will be hers.

Carmelo Hayes is in the ring sitting in a metal folding chair. This time, the arena is dark and there is a spotlight on him as the crowd chants "You're not Him!" Carmelo says the villain is always the villain when the hero is telling the story. He then asks why nobody wants to hear his side before telling Trick Williams he is not jealous of his success and that he allowed him to succeed, and that he wanted him to achieve the highest of highs and make his parents proud. He then says he had to take it from him when he got close enough to remind him of his place and remind him of what happens when he bites the hand that feeds him, as Trick crossed him first. Carmelo says they had an agreement where he would get the NXT Championship while Trick will get the North American Championship, but Trick let the people get in his head and believed they were on the same level. He says that Trick went behind his back and tried to take what belonged to him, and when he did, he knew what he had to do. Carmelo then admits that he attacked Trick Williams all that time ago and that he would do it again if he crossed him. Suddenly, Trick Williams' music hits, but Trick does not show and it is revealed to be a trick orchestrated by Carmelo. Carmelo says that Trick is not coming back and that Trick is laid up in the hospital next to Booker T, then says he and Trick are not the same and that the fans are so caught up in the headlines that they pushed him to the sidelines. After stating that nothing gets by him in NXT, he says that Trick tried to be like him, but he was "still a trick." Ridge accepts the terms.

Carmelo says he thinks that Corbin thinks he will come to NXT and take his title and make himself relevant again, and while it is not possible, it is not probable. He says this is nothing new to him as other people on the main rosters have challenged him before and that he has sent them packing, and that there is nothing separating Corbin from the rest of them. As Carmelo says that beating him will not be a jackpot like he thinks it is, Corbin says "Happy Corbin" bought him a $1.8 million house and that his insult does not land while he has an eight-year career some people only dream of before daring Carmelo to compare lifestyles with him. Carmelo says he has done more at age 26 compared to Corbin, saying he won the Breakout Tournament while Corbin was cut from the Arizona Cardinals, and while he gave past generations of NXT credit for setting the bar high, he will not meet their expectations, as he creates expectations of his own. He also says that he has renovated and added rooms to NXT's foundation, and has repaired the roof multiple times from blowing the roof off in the ring. Corbin tells Carmelo that if he has to tell everyone he is "Him," then he is nothing and he is insignificant, which is why he barely saw him over the barricade at SmackDown.
