He says champions never fold, and CM Punk did not turn out to be what the fans wanted him to be. Moxley says anybody could sign that contract and show what they are made of, then reminds potential opponents that he can outsprint, outfight, out-marathon and outwrestle them and cares less about anything than they do. He then says that "wrestling Jon Moxley may be hazardous to your health," and that whoever will be opponent has been warned. He admits that he may have come back too early from a serious injury, then got beat up in Cleveland, Ohio and had to drive home with just his thoughts, and something did not sit well with him. He says that his foot was 100% and that he was cleared for competition, but this 100% is "a new 100%" and he is afraid this 100% is not good enough. Punk says he came back to professional wrestling a year ago because he loves the business - which does not always love one back - and the fans, who always do love him back. He feels that he let the fans down, and he felt like he let his dog Larry down after not walking him for two months and let his little sister down. Punk takes off his jacket, hugs Ace Steel, then says he was born a punk rock kid before saying that everybody has been trying to kill him since day one and that Moxley is not that man. Punk moves through the crowd and says that Moxley is not wild enough and that Chicago, Illinois is where the weak get killed and eaten. He accepts Eddie's challenge because it is their final fight and because he can send Eddie back into his hole. Jon Moxley shows up to start tonight's show. He says that the AEW World Championship is a beautiful thing because of what it represents: professional wrestling, the sport that he loves and has dedicated his life to. He says that the championship never belonged to Chris Jericho, and that it does not belong to him; instead, it belongs to the fans who helped will AEW into existence and wanted something different and better. Moxley says that AEW brought pro wrestling back, and that he will defend the AEW World Championship with his life and crawl through any hell and climb any mountain to do it. He says there is not a man in the locker room who has what it takes to pry the championship from his cold, dead hands, and if anyone wants to try, they can do it. Moxley then says it is not over between him and The Inner Circle, as they have tried to take him out for the last two months and they will be coming after him, to which he says that he dares them. The Inner Circle shows up, and Chris Jericho says that he does not need a championship to be "Le Champion." The fans respond by chanting "Yes you do!," and Jericho makes fun of them for being unable to chant in unison and tells them to "shut [their] ass" before acknowledging Moxley's dare, saying that his reckless abandon and having more guts than brains has started "the Moxley era." After asking the fans if they like the Moxley era, Jericho says he does not and that he thinks "it sucks ass." The crowd chants by chanting "You suck ass!", this time in unison, and Jericho says the Moxley era "sucks" because Moxley's championship win was based on a lie and that he is a cheater and liar while he spent the better part of three months training for a man with one eye. He says that Moxley being able to see out of both makes him more of a snake oil salesman than a champion, and that all of the fans are also liars for supporting Moxley. He says that since Moxley won the title like he did, he has turned The Inner Circle from "a group of good-natured and very good-looking guys" into "a damn hit squad." As the crowd chants "Bullshit!", Jericho says that The Inner Circle is putting the entire AEW roster on notice, stating that they will tear everyone apart and hurt some people, starting with Moxley. Jericho states that after tonight's main event, he guarantees that Moxley will not be able to leave the arena on his own two feet, and he is so sure of what he says that if he does, he will take a leave of absence from AEW for not thirty, but sixty days. Jericho then tells Moxley that he always has a plan, and that he is not as smart as he thinks he is. Moxley says nobody ever said he was a genius, then says he is sick of listening to Jericho talk and that he will do what he did at Revolution tonight and send him packing from AEW for sixty days and make him look like "a stupid son of a bitch."
SoCal Uncensored ("The Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, Scorpio Sky) and Colt Cabana beat The Dark Order (Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, John Silver, Alex Reynolds). Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. guests on commentary for the next match.
Big Swole beats "The Librarian" Leva Bates.
"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes shows up. He says that in one's career, one works their way to a pay-per-view match, which is guaranteed money, and when one wins, they get even more money. He says that the only way he can be comfortable to his loss to MJF on Saturday is if MJF shows up, looks him in the eye and says he beat him fair and square. Instead of MJF, however, he gets Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Roberts says he is tired of hearing Cody cry and bitch, saying he never cried over one match in his career, and tells Cody that MJF "handed it to him." He then says he is here to slay Cody, not to praise him, and the only reason he is here is that he has a client, stating that "the dark side" is coming to AEW. He then says that when the roots take hold, it will be like a phoenix rising from the ashes and soaring to the sun. He says it has taken him twenty hears to get clean, and he has earned it, and if he thinks for one minute that he will be nice and play right, he has got another thing coming, as he used to put a snake in a bag just to make someone think about it, and once they did, he had his opponent in the palm of his hand and he was "spanking his ass." He says he will be on the outside when his client faces Cody, and while Cody can bring Arn Anderson with him, the snake takes what it wants, and he wants Cody's share of the pie. Roberts then tells Cody not to turn his back on someone you respect or are afraid of, then leaves.
PAC beast Chuck Taylor with the Brutalizer after Taylor misses a top rope moonsault. After the match, Trent and Orange Cassidy confront PAC, then The Lucha Bros. (Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix) show up and attack Trent and Cassidy. Afterwards, The Lucha Bros. and PAC attack Best Friends (Taylor, Trent, Cassidy) as a unit before PAC takes the microphone and makes their partnership official by calling themselves "The Death Triangle," or as The Lucha Bros. call it, "Triangulo de la Muerte." Ortiz hits Cody in the back with a steel chair, then Cody is overpowered. Suddenly, Matt Jackson shows up and fends off Santana and Ortiz before having a stand-off with Hager, who soon overpowers him as well. As Jackson, Cody and Dustin are being attacked, "Hangman" Adam Page walks down the ramp with a cup of beer in his hand, gets in the ring, puts his beer on top of the ring post and goes to town on Santana, Ortiz and Hager, hitting Hager with a Buckshot Lariat before going back to his beer. Matt Jckson then confronts Page only for Page to flip him off.

We hear from MJF and Wardlow. MJF boasts about going from protege to prodigy after beating "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes at Revolution and proving himself the final chapter of Cody's epic odyssey. He then says that it is high time that the AEW faithful has an author they can count on, as he has plenty of ink for his legacy of becoming the greatest world champion in professional wrestling. MJF also says it does not matter who he has to face, as he will become #1 contender and become AEW World Champion, and says that he will remain undefeated in AEW. Wardlow takes off MJF's jacket at MJF's command to reveal an "I pinned Cody," saying that the T-shirt is as distracting as Cody's new neck tattoo.
Before the next match, three masked men in the stands attack Jon Moxley from behind and assault him in the arena concourse. They then unmask in the process and reveal themselves to be Santana, Ortiz and Jake Hager while Jericho laughs in the ring. The match soon becomes a 2-on-1 handicap match as Santana, Ortiz and Hager put Moxley in a sleeper.
The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara) beat Jon Moxley and Darby Allin after Moxley never makes it back to the ring following the beaten given to him by the rest of The Inner Circle (Santana, Ortiz, Jake Hager) and Jericho counters a tope suicida from Allin with the Judas Effect. As The Inner Circle celebrates, Moxley shows up with a steel chair, walking to the ring under his own power. Moxley fends off The Inner Circle and clears out the ring in the process, but is clothesline from behind by Jake Hager. The Inner Circle then attacks Moxley on the stage, with Hager putting Moxley in a standing arm triangle before Santana, Ortiz and Hager hit Moxley with a three-man powerbomb off the stage and through a table.
