Memphis Thing - Memphis Wrestling recap for October 19, 2024



Dustin Starr interviews "The Genetic Nightmare" Mike Anthony at the announce desk. Before he can say anything, Jonny Lyons from Reality of Wrestling shows up and declares he be called "The Golden Lion" Jonny Lyons and says that he has someone like Mike Anthony in the ROW locker room stealing his spot. Lyons says he is out here because there is no better way to prove his worth to Booker T by walking into Memphis Wrestling and walking out with the Internet Championship around his waist. This leads to a match as well as Lyons attacking Mike Anthony from behind.

"The Genetic Nightmare" Mike Anthony retains the Memphis Wrestling Internet Championship against "The Golden Lion" Jonny Lyons.



Backstage, Xya Wolf interviews Gio Savage and Draco. Draco tells Gio Savage he only has one last chance to do what they said they would do, and that he has gotten a tag team title match against Too Kool II (Tim Grind and Flex) today. He tells Gio Savage to stop being a babyface and be a savage, or he can find out that the grass is greener on the other side.



Dustin Starr interviews "Hollywood" Jimmy Blaylock at the announce desk. Blaylock says that Dustin has a lot of power and connections and that people in the business know who he is, but he has power and connections in Hollywood, California and that people there who he is. He says that Ray Collins is shooting a movie because people in Hollywood know who he is, then mentions his numerous national television appearances. All of a sudden, Jay Smooth shows up with a metal folding chair and is stopped by Blaylock's Secret Service, and Jay Smooth says he knows Blaylock can take him to the moon and demands a spot in the Hollywood Clique. Blaylock says he is busy, but Jay Smooth says his match is next and that he wants to prove himself to Blaylock.



Big John Dalton beats Jay Smooth.



Derrick King makes an unscheduled appearance, and Dustin Starr interviews him at the announce desk. Derrick says that he has been wrestling for a long time, but there comes a time when life happens and that this is the best time. Derrick says something to Dustin that cannot be heard, then says he has enjoyed a great career and has a 17-year-old son, and says it is time to step away. Derrick says he tried to step away seven years ago, but now he says that he has had enough. He says that he has a few loose ends to tie up, but after that, he is done wrestling. He says also says that while he is eager to help train future stars, when it comes to taking bumps in the ring, those days are done.



Too Kool II (Tim Grind and Flex) retain the Memphis Wrestling Tag Team Championships against The Last Savages (Gio Savage and Draco) after Draco inadvertently hits Gio Savage with a side kick meant for Flex. After the match, Draco shoves Gio Savage as Gio helps him up. This leads to a shoving match and a staredown between the two men.



Outside of the WrestleCenter, Justin Case tells "The Problem" Aaron Roberts that he has to defend the Memphis Wrestling Heritage Championship against someone he has already beaten. Aaron Roberts says Matchmaker King Cobra has something against them and does not want him as champion, but he is the baddest man walking on both sides of the Mississippi River and he will beat anyone who stands across from him in the ring.



Backstage, Makkari Kandy works on J. Webb's hair as Diana Taylor gets ready for her match.

Diana Taylor beats "The San Joaquin Slam Maniac" Erica Torres.



We hear from Nixi XS, who declares that she is the real new Women's Champion, not C-Rex, as she stipulated that C-Red would crush Mackenzie Morgan and hand the title over to her, and if anyone has a problem with it, they can take it up with C-Rex.



"The GunShow" Brett Michaels beats K-Toomer in a grudge match despite K-Toomer working on both of his arms.

They're On A Rampage - Rampage recap for February 23, 2024



Penta el Zero Miedo, Komander and "The Outlaw" Bryan Keith beat the team of Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) and Matt Sydal and the team of Top Flight (Darius and Dante Martin) and Action Andretti in a three-way trios match.



Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Saraya and Harley Cameron. Saraya says she does not give a shita bout Ruby Soho, and Harley tells Saraya to breathe. Saraya then announces that her brother "Zodiac" Zak Knight is officially All Elite, then says Zak could have been Ruby's boyfriend and she messed it up. She then says things are about to get really spicy around here.

The Young Bucks (Nicholas and Matthew Jackson) beat Jonny Lyons and Cappuccino Jones. The Meltzer Driver is now known as the "Tony Khan Driver." After the match, Nicholas Jackson threatens to fine referee Paul Turner if he calls him "Nick" again, then demands Tony Schiavone join them in the ring. Matthew tells Schiavone they will not attack him, and apologizes for "tripping into him." Nicholas also gives Schiavone a $25 Amazon gift card, then says they are sorry about not getting the blood stains out of their white suits. When Schiavone asks if the $1,000 fine can be rescinded, Nicholas says that cannot happen. Matthew then says that they will not be sorry about beating Darby Allin and Sting down as they say goodbye to Sting's career. Matthews says that Darby Allin and Sting can call them "Father Time" as they are undefeated in 2024 and they will put Sting in the ground. After leading an "AEW" chant, they leave.



Tony Schiavone interviews Sammy Guevara in the ring. Sammy Guevara says he is pissed off after Powerhouse Hobbs put him through a table, and while Hobbs is a star on his own and has a lot of potential, he does not need Don Callis sucking his career dry. Guevara calls out Powerhouse Hobbs, but Don Callis shows up instead. He says Guevara used to be a great athlete that he wanted in his family, but has become weak and "a pathetic little cuck." Powerhouse Hobbs tries to attack Guevara from behind, but Guevara sees him coming and gets the upper hand, even hitting Hobbs with a metal folding chair. He goes for the GTH, but Hobbs clobbers him with a lariat and two spinebusters. Hobbs then hits Guevara with The World's Most Dangerous Slam for good measure.



We hear from Skye Blue, who says that she would have won if it were not for Stokely Hathaway. Julia Hart shows up and says they will get their comeuppance and dig three graves: one for Stokely, one for Kris Statlander and one for Willow Nightingale. Skye then says she wants whoever will step up and fight her.

Mariah May beats Anna Jay after biting Anna Jay in the arm to counter the Queenslayer and hit May Day.



Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Angelo Parker and Ruby Soho. Both of them agree the date was incredible, then Ruby admits she is weirded out by Saraya trying to hook her up with her brother and states that Saraya needed her, not the other way around. She says she needed space away from Saraya and found someone real out of it, then proposes that she end things with Saraya once and for all.

Roderick Strong beats Jake Hager (who is accompanied to the ring by Hornsby, the mascot of the Tulsa Drillers). Near the end of the match, Matt Taven and Mike Bennett confronts Hornsby for getting the fans to cheer for Hager when Orange Cassidy shows up and throws a purple bucket hat to Hager.Hager puts on the hat and gets the better of Roderick Strong, but Orange Cassidy is beaten up, and Taven and Bennett distract Hager to allow Roddy the win.

Championship Gold - Championship Wrestling From Memphis recap for April 17, 2021

The Memphis Heritage Championship is introduced for the first time, and it is announced that the first champion will be decided in an over-the-top battle royal knwon as the Grind City Rumble.



Backstage, "The GunShow" Brett Michaels says he wants "The Memphis Mauler" Alan Steel and Johnny Dotson any way he wants them, even if it means having them in a two-on-one handicap match. King Cobra shows up and tells him eh is undertaking a big task, but Michaels proposes that King Cobra watch his back. King Cobra says he will be glad to watch his back.



Cece Chanel beats Amber Rodriguez by submission after countering a submission by Rodriguez into a leg lock of her own.



The Grind City Rumble is May 15th!



Backstage, Eric McMahon is on the phone, saying that nobody wants him to manage them and that he needs the Memphis Heritage Championship. Suddenly, Super Ed shows up, much to Eric's displeasure.



Action Jackson beats "Remarkable" Ryan Rembrandt after using Rembrandt's own momentum against him after a top rope cross body, pinning Rembrandt. Rembrandt raises Jackson's hand after the match.



"The Genetic Nightmare" Mike Anthony beats Jonny Lyons after Anthony shoves the referee into the ropes to trip Lyon off the top turnbuckle. During the match, "Big Swole" Justin Cole - who is currently not medical cleared due to not passing concussion protocol - is kept away from the ring by referees during the match.



"The Queen of the Gulf Coast" Katelynn Black vs. "Smokin' Hot" Nikki Lane ends in a no-contest after Derrick King and Austin Lane keep getting involved. This leads to a short brawl where Nikki and Austin Lane stand tall in the ring.



The Yung GOATs (Aaron Roberts and Zay Washington) beat The Skimahorns (Brad and Briar Skimahorn). During the match, Big Ace and Big Jack show up. When Zay Washington inadvertently kicks the referee in the face and The Skimahorns hit The Yung GOATs with cheap shots, Big Ace and Big Jack attack The Skimahorns. A second referee shows up and counts The Yung GOATs' double pinfall attempt, giving The Yung GOATs the win.



"The GunShow" Brett Michaels beats "The Memphis Mauler" Alan Steel and Johnny Dotson in a two-on-one handicap match. During the match, King Cobra shows up to stand in Michaels' corner, and when Dotson tries to get in the ring with Michael's baseball bat, King Cobra takes it from him. This distracts Dotson and allows Michaels to hit the GunShow Lariat for the win.

Championship Gold - Championship Wrestling From Memphis recap for March 20, 2021

Humongous beats Jonny Lyons. After the match, The Crowleys (Jacksyn and Otis Crowley) show up, but Humongous holds them back.



Backstage, Mike Anthony tells "Big Swole" Justin Cole that he is the one who does the calling out, then accepts Justin Cole's challenge. He then says that he will only do it on his time, and his time is today.



Backstage, Terrance Ward interviews "Smokin' Hot" Nikki Lane, who says that the women's division has been civil for the most part, then mentions Queen Katelyn thinking she is bigger than everybody and having her own locker room. She then entertains the idea of challenging Queen Katelyn to the match.



Derrick King guests on commentary for the next match. (The match is supposed to be Derrick King's in-ring debut, but Van Viciousss takes his place here instead.)

Van Viciouss beats "The King of Pow" Chris Lexx with a briefcase planted in the corner by Queen Katelyn after Katelyn distracts the referee.



Backstage, The Posse (Simon and Lil Chris) finds out that The Skimehorns (Brad and Brian Skimehorn) have knocked out Dreadhead Kev.

Backstage, Terrance Ward interviews "New Money" Salena Dean, who says that she is "new money," that "Smokin' Hot" Nikki Lane is overlooking her and that she will have to go through her first to get to Queen Katelyn.



"Smokin' Hot" Nikki Lane beats Precious with a schoolkid pin out of the corner.



In footage from earlier this week, King Cobra praises "The GunShow" Brett Michaels for his progress and victory in the Cobra Cup Tournament, and says he will be honored to award him the Cobra Cup.



"Big Swole" Justin Cole beats "Genetic Nightmare" Mike Anthony with a roll-up.



We see a brief video package chronicling the results of the recent Cobra Cup Tournament.



King Cobra enters the ring with the Cobra Cup. His entrance is followed by that of "The GunShow' Brett Michaels, whom King Cobra awards the Cobra Cup. Suddenly, Memphis Wrestling legend Johnny Dotson approaches Brett Michaels, but it is a set-up for Brett Michaels to be attacked from behind by "All That" Alan Steel, who puts the boots to him along with Dotson. As Dotson punches Michaels several times, Steel stomps on the Cobra Cup and breaks it.

Championship Gold - Championship Wrestling from Memphis recap for February 27, 2021



"The GunShow" Brett Michaels beats Johnny Lyons to advance in the Cobra Cup Tournament.



We hear from David Marquez, who talks about the United Wrestling Network's history of cooperating with other entities in the wrestling world and the amount of wrestling superstars it has presented in its existence.

We see footage of Jase Osei training.

"The Last Hotstepper" DJ Brown beats "The King of POW" Chris Lexx with a roll-up to advance in the Cobra Cup Tournament. During the match, someone delivers a letter to the announce table. According to the letter, "a king will be here" next week.



Backstage, The Posse (Lil Chris and Simon) pranks The Skimahorn Brothers (Brad and Briar Skimahorn) with a whoopie cushion.



Backstage, Eric McMahon finds out he is not on the entry list.



We see a vignette for Lord Humongous.



Backstage, we see the women's division as well as Precious.

"Big Swole" Justin Cole beats "Genetic Nightmare" Mike Anthony with a schoolkid pin to advance in the Cobra Cup Tournament. After the match, Anthony attacks Cole's ribs and hits him with a Spear.



We see a short vignette of Dustin Starr talking about The Crowleys (Jacksyn and Otis).



Cassandra Golden beats "New Money" Salena Dean.



We see footage of Dustin Starr interviewing King Cobra.

We see footage of King Cobra talking to Dustin Starr about his classic match with Jerry "The King" Lawler.

Norman Meklakov beats "Remarkable" Ryan Rembrandt to advance in the Cobra Cup Tournament.
