Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for March 20, 2026

Drew McIntyre is seen attacking Jacob Fatu outside of the arena after smashing his car into Jacob's. Officials and security have to pull McIntyre off of a bloodied Jacob. Drew McIntyre then heads towards the ring, stating that he should have been in the main event of WrestleMania and that it was taken away from him. He warns anyone who tries to wrong him that their ass belongs to him. General Manager Nick Aldis shows up with security calling McIntyre the most self-sabotaging person he has ever met as he asks what his problem is, and states that McIntyre is only on his way to unemployment. He says that Donovan - Aldis' son - should be ashamed of having such a corporate stooge for a father. All of a sudden, Jacob Fatu shows up, and McIntyre and Jacob brawl again. This time around, Jacob gets the upper hand, and after tossing McIntyre over the announce table, security and officials try to force Jacob away from McIntyre, but Jacob runs through them in the crowd and splashes McIntyre through the table.

Damian Priest and R-Truth beat The MFTs (JC Mateo and Tama Tonga) to become the WWE Tag Team Champions! During the match, The Wyatt Sicks (Uncle Howdy, Erick Rowan, Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis) show up and brawl with the rest of the rest of The MFT's (Tonga Loa, Talla Tonga, Solo Sikoa), with Uncle Howdy getting Solo Sikoa with a Mandible Claw on the outside while Rowan, Gacy and Lumis brawl with Loa, Talla and Tama. JC Mateo saves Solo Sikoa saves Solo from the Mandible Claw with a superkick, but runs into a flurry of offense and an Attitude Adjustment from R-Truth for the pin, the win and the championships when he runs back into the ring.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews The Bella Twins (Brie and Nikki Bella). Brie says they can beat The Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax and Lash Legend) tonight and that anyone underestimating them is making a big mistake. Nikki says they paved the way for the women's tag titles to exist, then Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss show up with pints of ice cream. Charlotte calls The Bellas selfish for getting to the front of the line by getting involved in their match, then says they have whoever wins the women's tag titles tonight. Nikki tells Charlotte to watch the match to see how legends get it done, then Brie takes Alexa's spoon.

Backstage, Danhausen shows up as Candice LeRae checks on Johnny Gargano, asks for "twenty human dollars" when Candice asks for help, then runs away before The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) pass by. Sabin reminds Shelley they have a match.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Sami Zayn. Sami says he should be focused on his match with Aleister Black, as he is dangerous, but he cannot stop think about "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes despite all they have been through recently. He says that Cody is a good person who goes the extra mile, and yet he gets taken out and put on a stretcher after Orton does what he does. Sami admits he does not know what to think about this, and feels the more he does the right thing, the more things go wrong and the more he believes that the world he believes in does not exist. Trick Williams interrupts, and Sami takes this as a challenge. Trick says he will be watching and might be giving a few pointers, and Sami tells him to get a very good look.

The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) beat Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom). During the match, Candice LeRae watches from the entrance ramp, and near the end of the match, Candice attacks Nathan Frazer on the outside, allowing Sabin to get the pin and the win.

Randy Orton heads to the ring. Once in the ring, Orton grabs a metal folding chair and sits in it in the center of the ring. Orton says that for years, when his entrance music hit, everyone sang along, and says that he showed love and gave back to the fans in return, which he admits puts a smile on his face. He then says that this smile is the most emptiest feeling he has felt in his entire life, and that while he has been in the business longer than most, nothing last forever, and he wants his legacy measured in the amount of world championships around his waist. Orton mentions winning the Elimination Chamber match, and while he knew who he needed to be to beat Drew McIntyre, "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes beat McIntyre first. He says that he loves Cody and still does, but Cody took that burden off his chest by telling him to be the best version of himself not just for him and the fans, but for himself, and to listen to the voices. Orton states that sometimes when listening to the voices, he does not always have control, and while he and others can get hurt, he needs that killer instinct to become a fifteen-time world champion. Orton then says that he hears voices in his head, and that they counsel him, they understand, and they talk to him and tell him that he will beat Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the main event of WrestleMania.

Backstage, Randy Orton receives stares from fellow Superstars, then confronts Matt Cardona. Orton says he has no beef with Cardona, who confronts him for what he did to "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes last week. Orton asks Cardona if he has action figures to play with before calling him "a mark-ass stooge" and an "indy nerd" before forearming him and telling him to stay out of his business.

Before the next match starts, Trick Williams shows up to watch from the announce table.

Aleister Black beats Sami Zayn after Trick Williams throws his drink at Sami Zayn for shoving his foot off the announce table, which causes Sami to punch Trick a couple of times before sliding back into the ring only to run smack into a Black Mass.

Backstage, Matt Cardona wants General Manager Nick Aldis to give him a match with Randy Orton, but Aldis says it is not happening. Cardona leaves, then Carmelo Hayes shows up and finds out that the United Stats Open Challenge has been closed because somebody made a compelling argument to be the next opponent. Ilja Dragunov shows up and says he thought about what Carmelo told him, saying that Carmelo is right and that while he will always be fighting himself, he cannot be the best if he does not take the shots that are right in front of him. Carmelo says that for one of them, tonight will be champagne, but for the other it will just be pain. Dragunov says the pain will entertain, but asks if it will be his or Carmelo's.

We hear from The Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax and Lash Legend). Nia says it has been years since since The Bella Twins (Brie and Nikki Bella) have teamed up and have never won tag team gold, and that they have a snowball's chance in Hell of beating them. Lash Legend says that The Bella Twins are just trying to relive their glory days and trying desperately to stay on their heels, then says that other people want their titles and that it is time to put them all in check. Nia says The Bella Twins will be lucky to survive tonight after they demolish them, and all The Bella Twins can do about it is nothing and like it.

Jade Cargill heads to the ring. Cargill says she is not here to play around and calls out Rhea Ripley, as she knows she is backstage. Rhea Ripley shows up and heads to the ring. Rhea says that they said all that there is to say and that she does not feel like talking to her anymore, but Cargill says that while Rhea Ripley needs the WWE Women's Championship, she does not need the title or the fans. She says that Rhea Ripley has fought to be something, then says that with or without professional wrestling, she has always been "that bitch." Rhea is right about Cargill saying she needs the title, as she lives for this after having fought for this since she was sixteen years old. Cargill says she does not care about Rhea has had to sacrifice or the rest of the locker room, as she made wrestling matter, and without her, Rhea disappears. Rhea takes exception to the disrespect that Cargill is showing, and says that as long as the WWE Women's Championship has been around Cargill's waist, the title needs her, and now she wants that title and she is going to take it. Rhea then welcomes Cargill to the big leagues and dares Cargill to hit her after stating that they are done talking, but Cargill says she will do it on her time and leaves. As Cargill is on her way out, she is confronted by "Michin" Mia Yim and B-Fab, the former carrying a shinai, but instead of being against Cargill, they join her, and the three of them surround the ring. Rhea fends them off, but the numbers game takes over, and Michin and B-Fab hold Rhea down for a superkick to the face from Cargill followed by Jaded.

Backstage, Kit Wilson speaks with The Miz as he talks about dealing with Jelly Roll. The Miz is preoccupied with how his recent vacation was ruined, then Danhausen shows up wanting to be The Miz's enforcer. Kit Wilson says neither of them want Danhausen around, and when Danhausen tells Miz he can stay cursed, a ladder falls behind him as Danhausen leaves. The Miz tells Kit Wilson to go out there and implement "The Miz Method," then another ladder falls and lands on him after Kit Wilson leaves.

Backstage, Solo Sikoa is furious with The MFTs (Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, Talla Tonga, JC Mateo) with losing the WWE Tag Team Championships and blames it all on JC Mateo and Tama Tonga. Tama Tonga tells Solo Sikoa to return the lantern back to The Wyatt Sicks, as he has not been acting like himself since he took it and that he is now sounding like Roman Reigns. All of a sudden, Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre brawl again, and McIntyre goes for Jacob's eyes as security and officials have to break up yet another backstage brawl.

Carmelo Hayes retains the WWE United States Championship against Ilja Dragunov.

Backstage, Jelly Roll congratulates Damian Priest and R-Truth on becoming tag team champions, then Priest asks Jelly Roll to join them for drinks later. He and R-Truth leave, then Jelly Roll meets Randy Orton. Orton apologizes to Jelly Roll, but Jelly Roll says he is worried about him and knows what it is like to be the bad guy and judged for the worst thing he ever did, and reminds him of how he fought from being feared backstage to being loved and giving back. He says he does not understand why Orton would go back. Orton admits he was out of line with Matt Cardona and does not know where to begin, but Jelly Roll just tells him to do the right thing and work from there.

Kit Wilson heads to the ring. After the commercial break, Kit Wilson states that Jelly Roll started everything when he crossed a line, then says that they will finish this as he calls Jelly Roll out. Jelly Roll heads to the ring, and Kit Wilson rolls out of the ring as Jelly Roll gets in. Jelly Roll tells Kit Wilson says that if this is what he wants, this is what he gets. He then calls for a referee so they can have a match. Kit Wilson says that they should settle things like civilized gentlemen, saying he fights with his words, not his fists. Jelly Roll is surprised that Kit Wilson wants a rap battle, stating that he is a decent dancer, but not a rapper. Kit Wilson then proposes a slam poetry battle, then proceeds to mock Jelly Roll's face tattoos, criminal history and weight loss. Jelly Roll fires back by mentioning Kit Wilson's mother more than once. Kit Wilson attacks Jelly Roll from behind, then goes up to the top rope for a corkscrew elbow and nails him with it.

Backstage, Giulia tells Kiana James that she did not get the job done and that she is going to put Tiffany Stratton in her place. Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre show up, and Chelsea proposes they team up against Tiffany. Giulia says she does not need any help from her, then she and Kiana leave. The Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax and Lash Legend) show up, and Nia shoves Chelsea - and her wheelchair - out of the way.

Backstage, Jelly Roll meets with General Manager Nick Aldis demanding a match with Kit Wilson. Aldis gives it to him for next week.

The Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax and Lash Legend) retain the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships against The Bella Twins (Brie and Nikki Bella) by disqualification after Charlotte Flair attacks Nia Jax on the outside. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss show up early in the match to watch from ringside, and after the match, all three teams are going at it. The Irresistible Forces soon come out on top in the three-team brawl.

Backstage, Randy Orton is on the phone. He tells the person on the other end that he will go into the ring and "fix it."

Randy Orton heads to the ring again. Once again, he has a metal folding chair in his hand. At first, Orton sits down in the center of the ring, but decides against it before stating that he has an apology to make and asking that Matt Cardona come to the ring. Orton says that he has been out of his head and is legitimately sorry for how he treated both him and his hobbies, then asks Cardona to forgive him. Both men shake hands and hug, then Orton kicks Cardona in the groin, hits an RKO, rips his shirt off and tosses him out of the ring. Orton then pummels Cardona on the announce table. An official shows up to stop Orton as he ready the ring steps, and more officials and security show up soon after. Orton stops, then grabs Cardona and tosses him back in the ring. Officials and security flood the ring as Orton wraps the metal folding chair around Cardona's left arm, and Orton stops again. When Orton is given room, he turns around, then turns back to Cardona and stomps the chair, injuring Cardona's arm. Orton and Cardona are separated, and as Orton is forced to the back, something is happening in the parking lot. Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu are brawling again, and Nick Aldis shows up with security. Both men drop from a balcony on the side of a building as Aldis as officials yell at them to stop, and the show fades to black.

He then mentions Danielson stating he was grateful to face him, yet stating that he could not walk a mile in Danielson's shoes, and says he could not wear Danielson's shoes because they were too small for him. After the match, Swerve addresses Samoa Joe, admitting he had nothing but utmost respect for him before he met him, then states that he became more indifferent as he got to know him, then started to not like him and become very close to hating him. He says that he thinks around choking Joe out and hanging his head on the ring post, then says he does not have enough chain to do all that. He also says that if Joe keeps sending out security, then he will keep beating them up and going after him until Joe gives him what he wants. Samoa Joe shows up and says he has already beaten Swerve and shoved him down the championship ladder, and says Swerve's belief that the impossible can be possible is a major problem, as it makes him think that if he stands up to him, he can box with a god. Joe says this kind of belief can be contagious and that the fans will start thinking that they can be great and become a champion, too, and says that this is fine and dandy until someone like him shows up and takes everything. Joe then says he knows what to do with someone like Swerve, and it is to give Swerve what he wants. Suddenly, Don Callis shows up and states that it strikes him that Swerve can just book himself into a title match and that Swerve and "The Alpha" Konosuke Takeshita have the same amount of wins, with the only difference beting that Takeshita is undefeated outside of his own family. He then says that Takeshita should make Swerve taste what it feels like to lose within his family, then says AEW is his family's house, not Swerve's. Swerve says that if he had more time and less distractions, he would burn The Don Callis Family tree down to a crisp, then says he will take down Takeshita before coming after Joe again.

Adam Copeland beats Christian Cage in an "I Quit" Match to become the TNT Champion! During the match, Mama Wayne shows up to hit Copeland from behind in the groin with a hockey stick. Later on, Copeland chokes Christian out with the drawstring from his trunks, and as Christian is about to quit, "The Prodigy" Nick Wayne and Killswitch show up and attack Copeland. All of a sudden, "Daddy Magic" Matt Menard and Daniel Garcia show up after Mama Wayne slaps Copeland, and they beat up Nick Wayne and Killswitch, allowing Copeland to hit Killswitch with an Impaler on a barbed wire chair. After Copeland takes down Nick Wayen and Killswitch from the top of a ladder, Garcia and Copeland handcuff both men to the corners of the ring with their hands behind their backs, restraining them. Mama Wayne runs away as soon as she is surrounded and Copeland presents a pair of handcuffs, which leads to a three-on-one gang-up on Christian Cage before he too is restrained to a corner with a pair of handcuffs. Copeland then produces Spike from underneath the ring, and he kicks Christian in the groin multiple times before hitting him in the groin with Spike. Copeland is about to hit Christian with Spike again when Christian quits, making Copeland the champion for a second time.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for March 20, 2023

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn head to the ring to start tonight's show. Both men acknowledge that the crowd likes the other, then Sami says it feels good to be on the same page again and that he understands that they have needed each other throughout their careers as friends, enemies and brothers. Sami also admits that he handled everything like a business transaction, which was never how it worked between them. Kevin Owens says he has always been Sami's biggest fan and admits that it frustrated him that Sami Zayn was held under The Bloodline's thumb when everyone, including himself, knew that Sami was better than all of them, but Sami got through to him, and he knew they had to take The Bloodline down together. Sami then tells Owens that they both know what is next, and both men look at the WrestleMania sign before The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) show up. Jey Uso tells Jimmy that Sami Zayn is "what a backstabber looks like," and that Sami and Owens slit each others' throats. Sami says Jey dreams of backstabbing Roman Reigns, but Jimmy tells Sami and Owens that nothing will happen at WrestleMania. Owens tells The Usos that there is only one way to settle things and only one way to do it: a tag team match for the undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania. Jimmy proclaims that The Usos are the greatest tag team in the world and that Sami and Owens are undeserving of a title shot, as they have been on the same page for three minutes while they have been on the same page their whole lives. Jey interrupts Jimmy, saying this is their only shot to put the Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens problem in the dirt, then accepts the challenge before getting in the ring and starting a brawl. Sami is almost immediately outnumbered by The Usos, but Owens plows through them. Owens and Sami then gang up on Jey back in the ring, and Jimmy has to make the save for Jey. The Usos soon grab chairs, and as officials keep The Usos away from the ring, Solo Sikoa, Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns all arrive at the arena in a black SUV. The Usos throw their chairs down as Owens dares Roman to get in the ring.

WrestleMania 39 is 12 days away!

Austin Theory beats Montez Ford. After the match, Austin Theory says Montez Ford did not believe in him, but now he does, and at WrestleMania, John Cena will believe in him. Theory then points at the WrestleMania sign.

Backstage, The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) meet with Roman Reigns. Roman admits the night did not start off well, and Jimmy says that while they took a few shots, nothing hurts him more than being torn from his own brother and and having to answer to it like it is his fault. Jimmy says he will never forgive Sami Zayn for this, and that at WrestleMania, they have him. Roman says he hopes so, then asks Paul Heyman, Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa to leave and for Jey Uso to stay. Everyone else leaves, and Jey stays. After the commercial break, Roman tells Jey that he has not seen or head from him to the point that he had to beg Jimmy to bring him back, and now Jey is making decisions, and in order to make decisions, he must be part of The Bloodline. When Roman asks Jey if he is still part of The Bloodline and still family, Jey says he is Bloodline and he is still with him. Roman says he hopes so, and that this is all he needed to hear. He then says he will see him later, and tells Jey that he loves him as he leaves. Paul Heyman returns and asks Roman if he has found the answers that he was looking for, and Roman tells him yes.

It is announced that The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford), the team of Braun Strowman and Ricochet, Alpha Academy (Chad Gable and Otis) and The Viking Raiders (Ivar and Erik) will all face each other in a Fatal 4-Way Match at WrestleMania.

Backstage, Byron Saxton interviews WWE official Adam Pearce about the WrestleMania Fatal 4-Way Matches when Chelsea Green shows up and brings out Piper Niven - who is replacing the current unavailable Carmella, with whom she has matching gear - and demands competition tonight. She also demands that she be in the women's showcase at WrestleMania, then warns Pearce not to make her angry, or else she will put him on blast and block him.

We see an pre-match breakdown of Brock Lesnar and Omos going into their WrestleMania match.

Omos quickly beats Mustafa Ali. After the match, MVP says Omos fears no man or beast, and that Brock Lesnar will learn to fear Omos at WrestleMania.

The Miz meets with Logan Paul within his Impaulsive TV entourage backstage about trying to be the guest on Impaulsive TV, but Logan Paul declines.

It's time for Impaulsive TV. Tonight's guest is Seth "Freakin'" Rollins. Logan Paul mentions that Rollins does not want him "in his house," then says Impaulsive TV is his house. He states he does not have to do this, as he has already made millions, and while he admits the fan will not respect him, he does not care, as the fans do not see the amount of talent they see standing in front of them. Logan says he is "a 360-degree entertainer" and that there is no seat he cannot fill or a person on the roster he cannot compete with, then says his match with Rollins is going to be great and that it is an honor to share the ring with him. He then says that his brother Jake Paul has a point and that it is hard to be afraid of a guy named Seth, and says that if Rollins had not started his beef with him, they could have been friends, but instead, he only wants to see if he can knock him out again. After three replays of Logan Paul knocking Seth Rollins out two weeks ago, with the third replay containing a loop of the punch with Rollins' face replayed with a clown emoji, however, Logan's mic is cut off. All of a sudden, Rollins is seen in the production truck, and he comes up with the idea of "saving the show" by heading to the ring. As Rollins heads to the ring, Logan Paul mocks the fans for being tone-deaf and being unable to keep a football team, then tells Rollins that he has ruined his excitement and that his suit looks stupid. Rollins suddenly hits Logan with a double leg takedown, which starts a ringside brawl that officials try desperately to break up. Security soon gets involved, and Rollins goes up top and takes out security only to get knocked out by Logan Paul's left hand.

We see a short video for "WrestleMania: The Musical," available on all of WWE's social media platforms.

Dominik Mysterio beats Johnny Gargano after countering a Superplex attempt and hitting the frog splash. After the match, Dominik mentions Rey Mysterio denying his challenge to a WrestleMania match last week, then warns Rey that he will not stop until he gets what he wants and that he knows the whole Mysterio family will be at SmackDown next week. He says that the family may not like him anymore, but The Judgment Day likes his better, then tells Rey that he knows how to get Rey to get his balls out of his wife's purse and accept his challenge.

Backstage, The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) and Solo Sikoa are met by Paul Heyman, who tells them that the jet is loaded with seafood and that Roman Reigns has asked them to take the night off and indulge. He then tells Solo Sikoa that Roman wants to talk to him.

We hear from Edge, who says that if one pushes him, he will not just resist, but put them through a wall. He says that he is a hostile man, but he keeps it caged up to be a normal part of society. He says that Finn Balor has no idea what he is capable of, but he does, as he has been baptized in Hell In A Cell by The Undertaker himself. Edge tells Finn Balor that he cannot become what he can become staying as he is, as they both have demons, then says he will fear no evil and never has. Edge then tells Finn Balor to keep "Finn" at home and bring his demon to meet the Devil.

Rhea Ripley heads to the ring. Rhea mentions Charlotte Flair saying she needs to be a champion and a star, then says Charlotte does not want to accept her future and keeps bringing up their first WrestleMania match three years ago. She says that she was trying to make a name for herself and earn respect back then, and while Charlotte fancied herself a leader of the women's division, leaders earn respect and Charlotte never had her respect as she made Charlotte question her self-respect. Rhea says that when one mentions her name, one questions everything, as she brings out all the deepest insecurities that one masks as confidence, and tells Charlotte that she knows that every time they have gone to war, she gets up and keep going while Charlotte tries to keep people down. Rhea says it is already over for Charlotte and that it is time for her to go home where she means nothing, for without WWE, Charlotte Flair means nothing. She then says she does not care about Charlotte's insecurities or if she respects her, because at WrestleMania, she will become a champion and the biggest star in WWE. Rhea then states that when Charlotte sees her holding her crown above her head, she will know all her insecurities are true, and while she does not need Charlotte to respect her, she will fear her. Damage CTRL (Bayley, Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky) soon shows up, and Bayley admits that she was waiting for Rhea to mention her name when she mentioned leaders. Bayley tells Rhea she respects her, as does Damage CTRL, and says that if she needed help with Charlotte, all she had to do was ask. Rhea tells Bayley that she needs no help from Damage CTRL, and Bayley tells Rhea that she has become so cocky while Damage CTRL has made Raw their show. Rhea laughs and admits she is not ring ready, but dares Damage CTRL to get her out of the ring. Bayley says she is the only here in her gear, and obliges. WWE official Adam Pearce, who has been watching from backstage, sends a referee to the ring to make this impromptu match official.

Rhea Ripley beats Bayley. During the match, Becky Lynch, Lita and Trish Stratus show up, with Becky carrying a big bag of popcorn, and when Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky pull Bayley out of the ring near the end of the match, Trish, Lita and Becky take down Dakota and Iyo, allowing Rhea to hit the Riptide for the win.

Chad Gable finds Otis getting a manicure and tells him that he has got him in the men's WrestleMania Showcase and that he has a match with Ricochet tonight. As he asks Otis to be at ringside tonight, Maxxine Dupri shows up and compliments his manicure and wants him to meet with someone concerning a hand modeling job, then mentions that Mansoor and Mace's match with The O.C. (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) is postponed again after Mansoor recently overexposed his cheekbones. Maxxine Dupri and Chad Gable fight over Otis, but Chad Gable wins out, much to the frustration of Maxxine.

It is announced that Andy Kaufman will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2023.

We see a vignette of The Brawling Brutes (Sheamus, Ridge Holland, Butch) parodying the chest waxing scene from The 40-Year-Old Virgin for WrestleMania Goes Hollywood.

Ricochet beats Chad Gable. During the match, Maxxine Dupri shows up and walks off with Otis, distracting Chad Gable. This allows Ricochet time to recover and hit a top rope Shooting Star Press for the win.

We look back on "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels vs. "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair from WrestleMania 24, courtesy of Snickers.

Bianca Belair and Asuka beat Chelsea Green and Piper Niven despite some slight miscommunication between them near the end. After the match, Asuka lays out Bianca Belair.

Roman Reigns, Solo Sioka and Paul Heyman head to the ring. Before Roman can say much, "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes also makes his way to the ring. Cody addresses Roman's warning to stay out of Bloodline business and Heyman's talk of "a Cody Rhodes problem." Heyman advances towards Cody, but Cody stops him and tells him to take a step back, as he is speaking to Roman Reigns. Roman says Cody is not the problem, but what he represents is, as Cody Rhodes is what he used to be - a professional wrestler - and he is now a fighter who runs things around here. He says Cody ran away because he did not want to do "the Stardust thing," then went to a promotion he could not get over in and ran away, then came back and got over only for his "pec to go pop." He then says Cody's special day will be April 3rd, as Cody will wake up and be forced to look in the mirror or do what he always does and "run like a little bitch." Cody states that what Roman has said is true, but not a lot of people complain, as he has made sure that everyone in the locker room can make a lot more money. He also reminds Roman that he started at 20 years old "WWE born and bred," and that he still plans on being a professional wrestler. Cody also admits that he will vomit if anyone brings up his father, says his brother works elsewhere, and also says that his mother would tell him to knock Roman out and hit him again for good measure. He then tells Roman that when he beats him for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, Jey Uso will leave him, and then Jimmy will leave him, too. He then says Solo - who he says is not ready despite being a second-generation Superstar flanking the champion - will leave him, and that Paul Heyman will "be an advocate again." He then says that Roman Reigns will be "a Roman with no reigns" and "a chief without a tribe." As the crowd chants "Cody," Roman and Heyman leave, then Cody and Solo stare down. As Solo tries to leave, Cody tells Solo, "It's like I said. I knew you weren't ready." Solo goes for a Samoan Spike, but Cody stops him, and Roman has to hold Solo back.

That now leaves Jamie Iovine, who is sticking his nose in their business and talking to Viva Van, trying to put her in the same situation as Cece Chanel. Just like last week's show, this week's show is in the WWE Performance Center.

It is announced that WrestleMania is "too big for one night' and will air on April 4th and April 5th, then it is announced that NFL alumni Rob Gronkowski will host this year's WrestleMania. Mojo Rawley joins Michael Cole in introducing Rob Gronkowski, who dances on his way to the ring. Gronk says he has been watching since second grade from the nosebleed seats when WWE came to his hometown, and that he has watched in Orlando, Florida to support Mojo when only five people were in the crowd. He then says he is ready to host WrestleMania. Mojo tells Gronk he has his back, as WWE is a bit different than the NFL as he is a target anywhere at anytime. Mojo and Gronk then mess around, with Gronk hitting a few knife edge chops on Mojo, then King Corbin shows up. Corbin tells Gronk he is setting himself up for failure taking advice from Mojo, then says he expects him to get on his knees and bow down. Corbin then says this is not for Gronk, as there is no protective gear in WWE and he is better and stronger than him. As Corbin tells Gronk to get in line, Elias shows up and plays a song where he says that Gronk will rip Corbin's head off as Gronk and Mojo dance around. Corbin takes offense to everything going on, and Gronk shoves Corbin back into Mojo, who is waiting from behind ready to trip Corbin. Before Corbin can hurt Gronk, Elias gets in the ring and tosses him out. Gronk then advocates as host that Corbin and Elias have a match at WrestleMania.

Sami Zayn guests on commentary for the next match.

As Sami Zayn asks Daniel Bryan when he will start listening to him and tells an angry Gulak he is untouchable, Daniel tells Sami he is barely a champion and challenges him to put his money where his mouth is and defend the Intercontinental Championship against him at WrestleMania. Sami says that he will accept his challenge if Gulak can somehow barely beat Nakamura in a one-on-one match, Daniel Bryan accepts that challenge without a second thought.

Michael Cole is about to interview Paige via Skype when Bayley and Sasha Banks show up, telling Cole to go away so they can talk to Paige themselves. Paige says it is bad enough having to listen to Bayley and Sasha run the women's division down on SmackDown, and says that it takes more than greatness to change hearts, and that it also takes courage that Bayley and Sasha lack. Bayley says it's not her fault she's the greatest, and Paige that while her career is over due to something beyond her control that she would not wish on anyone, she cannot wait to see who takes the SmackDown Women's Championship from Bayley. Paige she will be announcing Bayley's SmackDown Women's Championship match at WrestleMania, where Bayley will defend the title against Lacey Evans, Dana Brooke and Tamina (the last after Bayley jokingly mentions her) and Naomi. Sasha calls Paige a "bitch," and this also causes Paige to add Sasha to the match and make the match a Six-Pack Challenge. Bayley is livid.

The Miz and John Morrison note that they do not have any challengers, then asks the nonexistent audience whom they should defend the SmackDown Tag Team Championships against. We then see Miz and Morrison in a New Day shirt and a unicorn costume recommend The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E), then we see Miz and Morrison in Usos shirts recommend The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) and Miz and Morrison dressed as bacon recommending Heavy Machinery (Tucker and Otis). After some humorous dialogue between all three Miz and Morrisons, Miz says nobody can decide who they face, and Morrison says they should take the night off. Suddenly, the real Heavy Machinery shows up.

The Miz and John Morrison beat Heavy Machinery (Tucker and Otis) by disqualification. During the match, Dolph Ziggler shows up and nearly distracts Heavy Machinery to the point of losing the match as he guests on commentary. Later on in the match, Dolph Ziggler stops Otis from using the Caterpillar and shows pictures of himself with Mandy Rose from Instagram as he continues to make fun of Otis for "being a nice guy." Otis grabs Ziggler, but Miz and Morrison stop him from hitting Ziggler with a chair. Otis grabs Ziggler, but Miz and Morrison stop him from hitting Ziggler with a chair. This causes Otis to lose his cool and take his anger out on Miz and Morrison, and he plows both men through the barricade. Tucker tries to talk Otis out of using a steel chair, but Otis hits Miz and Morrison with it anyway, causing Miz and Morrison to win by disqualification. Tucker has to comfort Otis after Otis throws an announce table chair over the barricade, breaking it.

Next week: The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) vs. The Miz and Morrison! A brand new episode of Firefly Fun House!

Michael Cole moderates a contract signing for Roman Reigns vs. Goldberg for the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 36. Roman Reigns shows up first, followed by Goldberg. Roman and Goldberg throw the chairs out of the ring, then Goldberg says he did not think Roman did have the balls to face him, even though he expected him to be next. Roman says he is fortunate to have all the greats challenge - and lose - to him, and says that Goldberg will be no different. Roman then says he sees "a little bitch bulldog carrying a title that he never earned" in Goldberg before signing the contract. Goldberg says he has destroyed steel doors all across the world for years with his headbutt, and says that Roman will be the next victim before he signs the contract. Goldberg then tosses the table to the side before he and Roman have a staredown to end the show.

Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for March 20, 2018

The show starts with a video package of General Manager Daniel Bryan having to leave full-time competition two years ago. Suddenly, the breaking news that has swept the Internet today is mentioned, and it is announced that Daniel Bryan is now clear to compete in WWE once again after two years.

General Manager Daniel Bryan shows up to start tonight's show. Daniel Bryan brings up what happened to Commissioner Shane McMahon, and says that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are not here yet. He then decides to talk about something else. He talks about how he was forced to retire and focused on being grateful. He admits that he was upset, angry and mad about not being able to compete again, but he focused on gratefulness. He says he is grateful for having amazing family, friends and fans around the world, and he has an amazing wife in Brie Bella. He talks about how his wife told him it was nice to be grateful and how she also told him to fight for his dreams and see multiple specialists. The crowd chants "Thank you Brie!" After being cleared by three specialists, she told him to fight for his dreams, which is what he has always had done. He went from being grateful to fighting for his dreams so his dreams can fight for him. Daniel then says every hard thing seems impossible until it becomes real, and for the last two months, he has asked WWE to re-look at his case. He has been sent to numerous neurologists, and all of them have said that he is cleared. He says that there was a time when being cleared to compete in the ring was impossible, but now, it is real. He has a lot of "thank yous" to send to the WWE and their doctors for looking at him as a person and not a wrestler. He thanks them for giving his case a second look, and he thanks every single person in the arena and everyone watching at home, as they have all supported him this entire time. Daniel says that people have chanted for him week after week, and for that, he thanks the fans. He then thanks his wife Brie Bella, and says the fans cannot understand how much of a help she has been throughout. For that, he is grateful. Daniel says he does not know when or where he will get back in the ring, and the fans chant "WrestleMania" and point at the WrestleMania sign. Daniel asks if that sounds like a good idea, and the crowd erupts while chanting "Yes." He does not know for sure if that will happen, but he says he will compete in a WWE ring again. He then leads an enthusiastic "Yes" chant before heading to the back.

Referee Charles Robinson congratulates General Manager Daniel Bryan on the news. Daniel asks him to send Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn to his office when they show up. Dolph Ziggler shows up and tells Daniel he cannot wait to beat him. Daniel responds by saying "Well...you can certainly try."

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles guests on commentary for the next match.

"The Artist" Shinsuke Nakamura beats Rusev with a roll-up after Rusev tries to roll out of an arm breaker. After the match, Rusev and Aiden English stomp Nakamura and proceed to double-team him, and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles gets up just before Nakamura fights back.

We see a video package of what has led Asuka to a match against Charlotte for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship at WrestleMania. Backstage, Charlotte Flair has watched the video package. Natalya shows up and says Charlotte is scared, but Charlotte says Asuka will be her biggest challenge. Natalya says she can beat them both, and says Asuka is only undefeated because she hasn't faced HER yet. She also says that should be her WrestleMania moment. This leads to Charlotte challenging Natalya for later tonight.

Backstage, "The Artist" Shinsuke Nakamura tells "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles he did not need his help. AJ Styles says that he knows that Nakamura will tell him he will beat him at WrestleMania with a knee to the face, and Nakamura tells Styles he should have more confidence.

Baron Corbin beats "The Perfect Ten" Tye Dillinger.

Natalya beats Charlotte Flair. During the match, Carmella shows up to cash in her Money In The Bank Briefcase only to eat a big boot from Charlotte. Natalya then takes advantage with a schoolgirl pin for the win.

It is announced that General Manager Shane McMahon suffered a laryngeal contusion as well as trapezius and rhomboid strains following the attack on him by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn last week.

Before the next match, The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) talk about how they were battling it out with The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships when The Bludgeon Brothers (Harper and Rowan) showed up. They then talk about how The Bludgeon Brothers brutally attacked both tag teams, but they are still here and they are still holding down the blue brand tag team division. They say that all they know how to do is survive, go hard and "be the best damn tag team WWE has ever seen." They refuses to stand down and let The Bludgeon Brothers take away what they have worked for. Tonight, Jimmy Uso is about to go to war with Harper, and it will be lockdown when they hit the ring.

Harper beats Jimmy Uso.

Before the next match, Jinder Mahal cals everyone who boos him hypocrites, as he has sacrificed everything for a match at WrestleMania. He says he could be vacationing anywhere in the world and being the biggest star in Bollywood, but he has restored prestige to the WWE Championship and made SmackDown Live the premiere show. Mahal states he is disrespected and that people should worship the ground he walks on. He says the fans want change, but they would rather maintain the status quo with men like Randy Orton. Suddenly, Bobby Roode shows up. Roode says the only hypocrite in the arena is Jinder, and says respect is a two-way street and that Jinder deserves no respect. He also says the only thing Jinder deserves at WrestleMania is being beaten in the middle of the ring and taking back the United States title. Suddenly, Randy Orton shows up. Jinder tries to butter Orton up, but Orton tells him to shut up and says nobody respects Jinder because without the help of "his little stooge" Sunil Singh, he sucks. This leads to a "You suck!" chant, and Jinder throws Sunil Singh to Randy Orton in order to escape. Sunil falls victim to the draping DDT from the second rope. Orton goes for the RKO, but Roode hits the Glorious DDT on Sunil. Orton tries to RKO Roode, but Roode blocks it, leading to a stand-off. Jinder tries to approach, but Orton and Roode see him coming.

Next week: Bobby Roode and Randy Orton vs. Jinder Mahal and Sunil Singh!

Naomi and Becky Lynch beat The Riott Squad (Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan) with a Dis-arm-her to Sarah Logan after Naomi hits Liv Morgan with a Rear View.

Backstage, General Manager Daniel Bryan is told that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have arrived. He tells the backstage producer that he will meet them in the ring.

We look back on WrestleMania 1, courtesy of Snickers.

General Manager Daniel Bryan is in the ring. Daniel Bryan says tonight has been a big night, but there is still one more thing to address. He asks Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn to come to the ring, which they do. Kevin and Sami give a congratulatory hug, and says they are here because they got the news that Daniel Bryan had been cleared to compete again. He says they were stopped by a Texas ranger for speeding, and talked their way out because "everyone's dumber in Texas." Sami says they would not miss this for the world, as Daniel Bryan has been their biggest supporter since day one even as the SmackDown Live locker room hated and resented them, as he was always fair to them. He calls Daniel Bryan being cleared to compete again an example of good things happening to good people, and says any show with them and Daniel on it is a dream show as well as a dream team. Daniel says he appreciates that, then says he brought them to the ring because of their attack on Commissioner Shane McMahon last week, which is replayed on the TitanTron. Kevin and Sami laugh, and Sami tells Daniel that Shane deserved it. Daniel Bryan tells them that this is a bigger deal than they are making it out to be. He calls them "two of the best performers of this generation," and admits he was living vicariously through them as he had known them for a long time and because he was forced to retire. However, he says this was more than "being carried away," as they both assaulted Shane. He then says he has trouble understanding why they did what they did to Shane. He says that he has been fired from WWE twice, and came back a better man. He tells them they can learn and grow from this. He says he hates having to do this, but he has no choice but to fire them. Sami and Kevin are shocked. Daniel Bryan says they are not gone forever; instead, they are both gone for now. He says they mean a lot to him, and extends his hand. The crowd sings "Na Na Hey Hey (The Goodbye Song)" as Daniel shakes hands, first with Sami, then with Kevin. Kevin and Sami turn around, then Kevin turns around and attacks Daniel Bryan. Owens then screams "You did this! You!" Sami punches Daniel in the face multiple times, then when they decide to double-team him, Daniel Bryan fights back. Referees show up as Daniel hits Kevin with the Yes Kicks, but Sami goes on the ground-and-pound when he gets back in the ring. Kevin gets Daniel up and holds him in the corner as he screams "Why'd you do that?!?" He then screams to Sami "Do it!" Sami then hits Daniel Bryan with the Helluva Kick. Kevin screams wildly again as Daniel Bryan tries to get up, then Kevin punches Daniel in the face. Sami then tosses Daniel Bryan out of the ring, then gets him back up and tosses him to Kevin, who powerbombs Daniel Bryan into the ring apron. EMTs bring in a stretcher to take Daniel Bryan out of the arena.

Here are the top 10 moments from tonight's show!
