Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for August 14, 2026

General Manager Nick Aldis is in the ring to start tonight's show. He announces that Chelsea Green suffered an orbital bone injury last week, then introduces Chelsea Green to the ring. Aldis tells Chelsea that he has talked to medical and that he cannot in good conscience let her compete with a broken eye socket, and that she must relinquish the Interim WWE Women's Championship. Chelsea says she knew it was too good to be true and that she waited for the other shoe to drop, as every time she does something magical, it is always followed by something devastating. She says she was always the comic relief and never the champion. Chelsea says she has sacrificed much and has missed weddings and funerals to leave her all in the ring, and told herself that it was all worth it, as this moment would come, and that in the end, all that matters is what one thinks of one's self. She then says that until someone takes this off of her, the Interim WWE Women's Championship is hers, and that she thought that Aldis, of all people, would understand that before handing him the title and leaving. Aldis stops Chelsea and says he is doing the right thing as General Manager, but as a man, he does not give a damn about what medical says. He then gives Chelsea thirty days to get cleared, get a facemask and do what she must do to defend the title, and until then, the title is hers. Suddenly, Gunther shows up, and calls everything that has happened "a sob story nobody wants to hear" before stating it is time for more important things, and wants to know why Aldis pulled a stunt on him at SummerSlam. Aldis says they can handle this in the office, and right now, it is him and Chelsea. Gunther makes light of what Chelsea has just gone through as of late and brags about pulling double duty at SummerSlam and making a man tap out in front of his family. He then asks Aldis why Kevin Owens was added to his match. Aldis tells Gunther that he added him to Owens' match and that Owens' return was in the works for some time, then said he did the favor for Gunther and that Gunther could not get the job done. Chelsea laughs, and when Gunther tells her to shut up, Chelsea dares Gunther to puff his chest up and stroke his ego, then reminds him that she is the only champion in the ring. Matt Cardona suddenly shows up and stands up for Chelsea, and Gunther laughs at him, saying Cardona can do nothing to him even if he called Chelsea "every slut in the world." Chelsea asks Cardona to leave with her, and when Gunther calls it "a dog listening to its owner," Cardona turns around and jumps Gunther until two referees hold him back.

Gunther beats Matt Cardona, even after Cardona kicks Gunther in the groin following the distraction by Chelsea Green. After the match, The Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax and Lash Legend) show up, and Nia Jax mocks Chelsea Green for being injured and tells her she has a ticking clock, and asks her why she would waste time as a fighting champion and makes it clear she wants the WWE Women's Championship. Nia warns Chelsea that she has a history of breaking faces if she does not give her what she wants, and Tiffany Stratton gets in the ring only to be overpowered until referees step in.

Backstage, Charlotte Flair tells Alexa Bliss that she missed her, and the two of them find Tatum Paxley in a shrine for Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, which Charlotte and Alexa find a little odd.

Backstage, "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes meets with General Manager Nick Aldis regarding Randy Orton. Aldis says he has yet to meet with Orton, and proposes a match at Saturday Night's Main Event. Cody likes the idea, then runs into Sami Zayn, who says that he has to go through hoops to get what he wants and that Cody just has to "say when." Cody says Sami used to be the one who was able to do it, then says he owes nobody anything, and says tells Sami that if he wants to do something about it, they can do something about it. Sami says that the last time they were in the ring, he beat Cody in the middle of the ring cleanly for the WWE Championship. Cody asks Sami if he can do it again, and challenges him tonight. Sami says Cody picked the night that he cannot go, and Aldis asks Sami if he cannot go or will not go, and says that if Sami beats Cody tonight, he gets the winner of Kevin Owens and CM Punk. Aldis tells Sami that he made the choice at SummerSlam, and that he is giving him that choice again.

Baron Corbin retains the WWE United States Championship against Carmelo Hayes. After the match, Trick Williams shows up, and Lil' Yachty shows up from behind and hits Corbin with the Trick Stick. Corbin takes the Trick Stick from Yachty and forces him to retreat, but Trick runs into the ring and hits Corbin on the chin with the Trick Shot.

Backstage, Chelsea Green thanks Tiffany Stratton for standing up for her and tells her that she did not want her to get injured before her match, but Tiffany says she is fine and still competing tonight.

Kevin Owens heads to the ring. He is soon joined by CM Punk. Punk says Owens is a lot of things, but he is not a coward, and that whatever Owens has to say concerns him before telling him to say it to his face. Owens talks about how they were in the ring a foot away from each other last week, yet Punk had his back turned when he called him "a fat slob," and says that their history runs back twenty years. Owens talks about how Punk was the big top guy while he was trying to make a name for himself, and how one night, Punk chose to berate, insult and scream at him in a locker room full of his peers. He then says that is just one reason why he does not like, and says that the things Punk has done and said as well as how he has treated his friends, but Punk says being hated is the price he pays for not being one of them. Owens says this is another reason he does not like Punk, as while Punk has made amends with others in the locker room, he considers everything Punk does "performative" before calling him "a phony" and stating Punk had no choice but to come back to WWE. He says that Punk ruined things everywhere he went and that he does not like him for that, then says he did pretty well for himself for the last twelve years before getting injured. Punk says he was and still is happy, but Owens does not believe him. Punk asks if Owens would still be afforded those opportunities had he still been here the last twelve years, and Owens wants to know if Punk sees him as "a fat indy slob" and "a fan on the wrong side of the barricade." Punk asks if this is what he thinks of Owens or what Owens thinks of himself, then says that he has a locker room who wants to be champion and that he calls out Oba Femi only to get endometriosis instead. Punk says that he will not take Owens lightly and that while he sees a tough guy, but he sees a bum, as he avoids the hard work. Punk says he has evolved, and that if Owens did half the work he did, he would have the WWE Championship around his waist. Owens says he worked to not be like Punk, and that while he likes what he sees in the mirror, Punk does not, and now "the fat indy loser" is in the same ring as him facing him for the WWE Championship next week. Punk says he sees himself from twenty years ago in Owens, and Owens asks Punk if it bothers him that he never sought him out for guidance before regretting not punching him out twenty years ago. Punk says there is nothing but air and opportunity and that Owens can do it now, and Owens says that if he did it then, Punk would have ruined his career. He then says that he has waited twenty years and can wait seven more days to "beat [his] bitch ass" for the WWE title. Punk says that twenty years ago, Owens was a greenhorn who stepped into his locker room and thought he could be disrespectful to him and has cried about the consequences ever since, and that he will "put [his] fat ass to sleep."

Backstage, Finn Balor meets with General Manager Nick Aldis, saying a little bit of a heads-up before SummerSlam would have been nice. Suddenly, Gunther shows up and wants SummerSlam sorted out after being made to wrestle in street clothes. When he finds out from Aldis that he is interrupting Finn Balor, Gunther says he only sees Finn's shadow if he squints hard enough. Finn Balor takes exception to this and says he will do whatever it takes for another title shot, and if he has to go through Gunther, he will be happy to beat his ass and show who he really is.

The MFTs (Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga) beat the team of Damian Priest and R-Truth and The War Raiders (Ivar and Erik) in a Triple Threat tag team match to become the WWE Tag Team Champions!

Jacy Jayne beats Tiffany Stratton to become the WWE Women's United States Champion after Tiffany Stratton takes out Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid on the outside with the help of Chelsea Green only to run into a Rolling Encore back in the ring.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Jade Cargill, B-Fab and "Michin" Mia Yim. Cargill says it is funny that the women's division cannot mind their business, and they can line up so she can knock them down. B-Fab says they have another victim in Tatum Paxley, who they plan to give a proper welcome.

"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes vs. Sami Zayn ends in a no-contest when Randy Orton attacks Cody Rhodes before the bell. This leads to a brawl around the crowd and at ringside, and officials show up as Cody is propped up against ring steps leaning against the announce table. As Orton is about to swing a metal folding chair at Cody with his head on the non-steps end of the stairs for a makeshift Con-Chair-To, Cody kicks Orton in the groin and hits him with the chair. Cody then goes for the exact same Con-Chair-To on Orton only for the chair to be taken away from him by officials, and Cody attacks Orton again as the show fades to black.

Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for July 31, 2026

Finn Balor heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Finn says that he cannot help but think about 2016 when he thinks about SummerSlam, when he had the best and worst night of his career when he went from winning the WWE Universal Championship only to relinquish it due to injury. He says he has been scratching and clawing for the last ten years to regain the glory of that night, and as he says that he has the fans behind him and he is close to getting back to where he was, Sami Zayn shows up. Sami says that while this is an emotional time for Finn, he has something to get off his chest. Sami says he should be in the WWE Championship match, and says he would love to see "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes as champion again as he already beat him to become champion and he can do it again. Sami also admits that a part of him would like CM Punk to retain before calling Punk "the biggest fraud and the biggest piece of garbage," then says that Punk has since become "Corporate Poster Boy #2." After stating that he wants to take the title back from the man who stole it from him, Sami says he has respect for Finn, and Finn dares Sami to come to the ring and say what he has to say to him to his face. Sami says he has respect for Finn and that everyone knows how great Finn is, stating he should have been a world champion several times over. He tells Finn to take a pulse of this moment, and recognize that is belongs to him. He says that Finn had his time, and now it is his time, and says that taking the WWE Championship back is bigger than the both of them and that it is about "justice for Sami." Finn asks where the justice for him, saying that this is his moment. Sami says that if Finn took ten years to get to this point, he should take the hint. Finn reminds Sami that he was world champion longer than him and that he lost the title because he lost the match. Sami says that "almost sounds like fighting words," and if he did not respect Finn, he would have dropped him where he stood. He then says he will not do that, as he is "a good guy" and "the last real good guy left around here." He tells Finn he will walk away and see him at SummerSlam. Before Finn can answer back, both men are suddenly attacked by Gunther, who declares himself the rightful #1 contender to the WWE Championship. General Manager Adam Pearce shows up with security, and Gunther wants to know what he has to do to get what he considers his, and asks if he has to beat Pearce's ass as well. Gunther is attacked from behind by Finn, and Sami shows up and fights with Finn over Gunther. Gunther attacks both men again, then Nick Aldis shows up and brawls with Gunther. Security has to separate both men as Aldis puts Gunther in a Texas Cloverleaf, and Gunther hits Aldis with a big boot.

Haku shows up and says these are the sons that he needs, and tells them not to forget who they are, for they are the sons of Haku. He tells them to go and "make them fear us again."

Damian Priest and R-Truth retain the WWE Tag Team Championships, and The War Raiders (Ivar and Erik) retain the AAA World Tag Team Championships. After the match, both teams continue to brawl until they are both attacked by Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga, who are soon joined by Haku.

We see house show footage from last night in Springfield, Illinois where "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes and CM Punk get physical with each other post-match.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews CM Punk, who says that this is competition and that he and "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes are running away from their match and the fact that they do not need to be friends. He says that he takes on all comers and he will still walk out champion against Cody. Suddenly, Trick Williams shows up and says Punk should be glad he lost, and that sooner or later, he will come for the WWE Championship. Punk likes Trick's confidence and says he wanted him to win, and tells him that he does make it to the title match, he will whoop that trick.

Trick says that Baron Corbin is no badder than he was the first time around and that all he is collecting is a foot up his ass. Corbin teases the both of them going at it right now, then says that Trick is "a dumb rookie who doesn't understand." Punk asks Cody how it feels, and Cody says that he can see through him and that they are way past the point that they are running towards each other. Punk says that he hopes he has ruffled feathers, because when he gets a title shot in his hometown, he is going to take it, and that he knew this would set them on a path. He says that he does not have to be Cody's friend tonight or tomorrow and that it is up to Cody if they are still friends, and Punk wants to know who is the better man between them "for business purposes." Cody says that this has become personal not just to Punk, but to everyone who has not held the WWE Championship, which makes Punk the best in the world, and mentions his "I didn't come back to make friends; I came back to make money" line. Punk says he did not come back to make friends, but he did not come back to lose friends, and that tomorrow is not looking good for Cody. Cody says that Punk is prepared for what will happen tomorrow, and asks what Punk will do about it tonight. Punk lays the WWE Championship between them and takes off his jacket and his friendship bracelet before saying "Say when." Cody does the same, tossing his jacket into the crowd as Punk dares Cody to punch him in the jaw. Cody punches Punk, and both men brawl. Cody clotheslines Punk out of the ring before they brawl on the outside where officials rush in to separate both men. Punk and Cody punch at each other on the announce table until they are both pulled off, and they soon brawl again as the show ends.

He chalks it up to possible jealousy from General Manager Nick Aldis, then says he should be Undisputed WWE Champion right now and everybody knows it. Gunther says that all that prevents him from being champion is Aldis himself, as he made this personal. He then states that Aldis is forcing him to team up with Sami Zayn against "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes and CM Punk at Saturday Night's Main Event, then calls Sami "a bum" who is beneath him and calls being put in this position unacceptable. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce shows up and says that Gunther should be thanking Aldis for saving his job after his actions in the last few weeks, and says that if it were up to him, Gunther would have been fired. He then says the position came from the higher-ups and that Aldis has made sure that his match with Sami Zayn against Cody and Punk goes as scheduled, including the stipulation. Pearce announces that if Gunther and Sami win on Saturday, Gunther will be added to the Undisputed WWE Championship match at SummerSlam, and the match will become a Fatal 4-Way. Suddenly, Cody Rhodes shows up and runs into the ring to attack Gunther, much to Pearce's chagrin. Backstage, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce announces that Rhea Ripley is closing to returning from injury, yet it is his unfortunate duty to announce that Rhea will not be able to compete at SummerSlam. Pearce announces that tonight and over the next few weeks, there will be five matches to determine who enters a ladder match to decide an Interim WWE Women's Champion. When Rhea Ripley returns, an undisputed champion will be decided.

Actor Matthew Rhys is seen in the front row.

Jade Cargill beats Nia Jax by disqualification in an Interim WWE Women's Championship ladder match qualifier after Charlotte Flair shows up, attacks B-Fab and "Michin" Mia Yim at ringside, then hits Jade Cargill with a big boot in the ring in full view of the referee. After the match, Charlotte wraps a metal folding chair around Jade Cargill's right arm, but Michin and B-Fab pull Cargill out of the ring. Cargill is declared winner by disqualification, and an angry Nia Jax squashes Charlotte in the corner and leaves. Cargill then hits Charlotte with Jaded.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Gunther. Gunther says that "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes always finds a way to make everything about him and solely acts on emotion, and tonight, he will beat rationale into Cody. As for tomorrow, he does not care about Sami Zayn, and he will go into SummerSlam and become Undisputed WWE Champion. Candice LeRae wheels Johnny Gargano out, and tells Gunther that if he wins, Sami Zayn is also in the Undisputed WWE Championship match, and that she and Gargano need this win. Gunther tells Candice to tell Sami to show up, shut up and not get in his way. Gunther leaves, and Blake Monroe - who has been waiting in the background - attacks Candice from behind before introducing herself. Blake leaves, then tells Gargano he needs a haircut.

Punk tells Cody that he has his back tonight in case Gunther tries to hurt him, but Cody tells Punk to watch from backstage as he does not want him at ringside.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Danhausen. Danhausen says he will not be outnumbered, then puts a cage with a stuffed black cat inside it on a nearby table, saying the cat will curse JD McDonagh on Saturday. A nearby monitor sparks, then Danhausen says he and Jackie should run.

"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther ends in a no-contest. During the match, CM Punk heads to ringside to cheer Cody on, and later on, Sami Zayn comes out of the crowd to attack CM Punk at ringside. Cody confronts Sami, and Gunther goes for a sleeper hold on a distracted Cody only for Cody to slip out and hits Sami with a tope suicida. Cody gets back in the ring, and Sami drags Cody back out of the ring and attacks him in full view of the referee, ending the match. After the match, Punk and Cody brawl with Gunther and Sami, and officials rush in to break up the brawl as the show ends.

Rey counters the knockout punch with a kick off the ropes, but Logan soon drops Rey again. Logan goes for the knockout punch again, but Rey trips him into the ropes for the 619. All of a sudden, the man in the black hoodie returns, superkicking Rey before hitting The Stomp and running through the crowd when security arrives. Logan then hits Rey with the knockout punch, then LA Knight runs to the ring. Logan slides out of the ring, then Knight says he will stomp the hooded man's head in before saying that he will make Logan pay tonight.

Je'Von Evans is seen in the crowd before the next match.

"The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and Dragon Lee retain the World Tag Team Championships against The War Raiders (Ivar and Erik). The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) and Grayson Waller watch the match from ringside. After the match, The New Day and Grayson Waller confront Styles and Dragon Lee before The Usos (Jimmy and "Main Event" Jey Uso) show up from out of the crowd. Jimmy announces that The Usos are now back in the tag team division as they have been hit hard and taking loss after loss in the last few months, and after seeing him crash out, he called Jey. Jey they are going "back to us," and Jimmy says that while Styles and Dragon Lee do not know about The Usos yet, Jey says The New Day do and that they will go through them. He then tells Styles and Dragon Lee that they are going to take it all when The New Day grabs them, which leads to The Usos knocking The New Day out of the ring and Grayson Waller retreating before The Usos have a staredown with the World Tag champs.

Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen is seen in the crowd.

Jackie Redmond interviews Stephanie Vaquer in the ring. When asked who her next opponent is, Vaquer says she wants to face everyone. She says she is not one who talks too much and that she speaks more through action, and that while Nikki Bella is a legend, the women's division has changed since fifteen years ago. As she says that the women's division is loaded with talent and that she is at the top, Nikki Bella shows up and says that they are not done, and demands a rematch. "The Oracle" Paul Heyman then distracts the ref as Knight fights back against Logan on the outside, and the man in the black hoodie shows up again and curb stomps Knight on the announce table. Logan Paul then hits LA Knight with a splash from the top rope for the win. After the match, Logan Paul, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker gang up on Knight for a Spear from Breakker followed by two Tsunamis from Bronson. Medical staff have to help Knight out of the ring. After the commercial break, Paul Heyman says he cannot tell the difference between Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri before announcing that Bron Breakker will be the new World Heavyweight Champion on January 5th. Breakker wants to know where CM Punk, and says that if he was here, there would be two losses in back-to-back days in Kansas City, Missouri. He says that he does not buy "the nice guy CM Punk" and says Punk is a fraud. Breakker mocks CM Punk's straight edge lifestyle and says he looks like "the biggest crackhead anyone's ever seen," and says that if he gets that CM Punk, he might as well stay at home, as he can beat that CM Punk easily. He wants to face the CM Punk that existed in the 2010s before he left WWE, saying he was the greatest to ever lace a pair of boots, and that if he does not get that, he will send Punk to the hospital and take his wife along with his title. All of a sudden, LA Knight is seen heading to the ring despite medical staff telling him not to, and as Bronson Reed and Logan Paul head to the back, Breakker says he will Spear and pin Punk. Bronson and Logan find Knight backstage and attack him, and security jumps in only to get attacked as well. The two of them then powerbomb Knight through a table, but Knight still gets up. Raw Deal - Raw recap for September 22, 2025

As LA Knight is backstage, Rusev is seen in the background threatening "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, much to the surprise of LA Knight.

"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Cody Rhodes says he would love to have another Crown Jewel Championship ring following a match against Seth "Freakin'" Rollins, who shows up almost as quickly with the rest of The Vision (Bron Breakker, "Big" Bronson Reed, Paul Heyman) as soon as Cody mentions him. Rollins enters the ring alone and says that the moment they both walked out of SummerSlam as champions, he had Crown Jewel circled on the calendar, and while they had hoops to jump through to get to this point, they are here. He says it should be as simple as the best man winning, but it is not, as it is him and Cody, and it is deeper and bigger than that. Rollins tells Cody he is good at reading people and that he knows what the fans, the locker room, the Internet and even the home viewers all think about him, and he does not give a damn. He proclaims that the people do not know what is good for them and do not have the right to make decisions as the fans chant "CM Punk," then says it is fortunately not about Punk because he does not have a championship. After stating he already knows what Punk thinks of him, he wants to know what Cody thinks of him, and wants the truth out of him. Cody admits it is complicated when it should not be, as Rollins has recently made some questionable choices, including receiving the services of Paul Heyman, but also admits that Cody has changed his life. He says that it was indirectly, but Rollins stood across from an opponent he did not know, and without his injury, he would not know what he was capable of. He also says that this and his help at WrestleMania 40 changed his life and career. He then asks Rollins what he thinks of himself, because Rollins could be not just one of the best, but the absolute best, on any given night, but that Rollins is not hiding behind The Vision. Cody sizes up the situation and asks Rollins what he can do for him, and Rollins mentions the watch on his left wrist that he gave him at WrestleMania 40, which he had not worn until tonight. He questions if the watch is a real gift or a token gesture, as Cody knows all the right things to say about him when it suits him, because in his next breath, he undermines everything that he stands for and states with a straight face that he is the right person to lead the future. He then asks what Cody then really thinks of him and thinks that Cody thinks lesser of him, then says that The Vision are not goons and are what the future of wrestling looks like in his image, and says that Cody will be his quarterback. Rollins says that regardless of what Cody thinks, the future will come out in three weeks and Cody will find out that he is "the alpha." Cody says that all three of their match were one-on-one, and wants to know if Crown Jewel will be the case. He also asks how many of those previous three matches he has won before walking off. Bronson and Breakker stand in front of Cody on his way out, and Cody is let by at the behest of Rollins.

Backstage, Jimmy Uso runs into "Main Event" Jey Uso, and says that what happened at Wrestlepalooza was trash and that he knows they can win, then mentions Jey making his own match with LA Knight and questions if it is a good idea in the state Jey is in. Jey says that they could have won if LA Knight were not the special guest referee, and that The Vision (Bron Breakker and "Big" Bronson Reed)could have taken care of him if Jimmy did not tag team with Knight. Jimmy takes exception to being blamed for this, but Jey says they have a lot to handle and they will handle it after he handles LA Knight.

The War Raiders (Ivar and Erik) and Penta beat The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) and Grayson Waller in a no-disqualification match following an avalanche Mexican Destroyer from Penta to Grayson Waller.

Backstage, Finn Balor is playing on a Nintendo Switch 2 with The Judgment Day (JD McDonagh, Roxanne Perez, Raquel Rodriguez) when "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio shows up and mentions that things are getting out of control regarding Rusev. Balor tells Dominik to get help from El Grande Americano, but Dominik says Americano is back in Mexico. Dominik asks McDonagh for help, and after Roxanne Perez insists, McDonagh reluctantly helps Dominik, but says he will do this for The Judgment Day. Domink then tells McDonagh that everything is taken care of with General Manager Adam Pearce and that he has a match with Rusev tonight, then Roxanne and Raquel Rodriguez leave awkwardly and McDonagh has to tell Finn what is going on.

Backstage, Bayley catches up with Lyra Valkyria and acts as if her outburst never happened, saying Lyra did well last week and asking Lyra to be in her corner tonight. It becomes clear to Lyra that Bayley has forgotten about their history between them, but Lyra agrees. Bayley leaves, then Stephanie Vaquer walks by on her way to the ring.

General Manager Adam Pearce is in the ring to introduce Stephanie Vaquer, who heads to the ring. After Pearce congratulates Vaquer, Vaquer says that being Women's World Champion has been her life's dream and admits that it felt impossible, but she worked and sacrificed for it and she made it real. She says she beat one of the best on the planet in Iyo Sky and learned to be strong and never give up because she had the best example and a hero in her father Hector, who is in the crowd tonight. She takes pride in being the first Latin American-born female champion in WWE history, and that the title represents all the support that the fans have given her, for which she thanks the fans. Vaquer proclaims that her fire will keep making history, and that nobody will stop her. Pearce then announces that at Crown Jewel, the winner of Friday's WWE Women's Championship Triple Threat Match on SmackDown will face Vaquer at Crown Jewel.

Backstage, Nikki Bella congratulates Stephanie Vaquer, as does Rhea Ripley, who states that she is still coming for the Women's World Championship. Vaquer says she looks forward to it, then The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) show up and Asuka says Vaquer is not deserving to be a champion. Nikki disagrees, and Vaquer says she will show Asuka while she is a champion when they finally meet in the ring. Rhea confronts Asuka over her attitude, and Asuka tells Rhea to stay away from Iyo Sky before saying Rhea is not ready for her. This leads Rhea to say she is ready before challenging Asuka to a match. Kairi tries to apologize after Asuka leaves, but Asuka tells her to hurry up.

Bayley beats Roxanne Perez after Roxanne hits Lyra Valkyria with a tope suicida on the outside. After the match, Lyra hugs Bayley, but Bayley shoves her away for touching her and goes off on her.

Backstage, "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes runs into Jimmy Uso. Jimmy congratulates Cody on the Wrestlepalooza win, but when Cody asks about "Main Event" Jey Uso, Jimmy says Jey is in his own head and will not listen to him, and that he thinks that he could listen to Cody. Cody says he will talk to Jey.

Backstage, "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes meets with "Main Event" Jey Uso, and mentions that Jimmy Uso is worried about Jey. Jey says he is fine, but Cody tells Jey that he has his fans, friends and family and that they believe in Jey. Jey promises to Cody that he will find his way back to the top.

Rusev beats JD McDonagh by submission with the Accolade after "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio tries to get in the ring only to think better of it and back off. After the match, Finn Balor runs into the match and hits Rusev with an elbow, then clotheslines Rusev out of the ring before checking on McDonagh and arguing with Dominik.

Backstage, Iyo Sky tells Asuka that she does not have to fight Rhea Ripley, but Asuka wants to teach Rhea respect. Iyo tells Kairi to talk to Asuka after Asuka leaves, but Kairi says Asuka is why they are here and that they must listen to her.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews LA Knight. Knight says things only happened the way they did at Wrestlepalooza because he checked on "Main Event" Jey Uso only to be shoved away by Jey, and while he does not want to hurt Jey, he has no problem doing it with a BFT.

"Main Event" Jey Uso beats LA Knight after Knight takes down both Bron Breakker and "Big" Bronson Reed when they rush towards the ring. After the match, Jimmy Uso shows up as Bronson and Breakker head back into the ring, and when Jey refuses to help LA Knight when Jimmy asks him to, Jimmy grabs a metal folding chair and runs to the ring when Jey leaves. Paul Heyman has to beg Breakker off before he, Breakker and Bronson leave.

Backstage, Becky Lynch is obsessed with everything going on and making an example out of someone as Seth "Freakin'" Rollins looks at the Rolex that "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes gifted him.

Backstage, Iyo Sky meets with Rhea Ripley. Iyo wants Rhea to call off the match with Asuka, but Rhea says it must happen and hopes that they can beat respect into each other like she and Iyo did. She also asks Iyo to be careful around Asuka. Iyo says Asuka is family and that she is here because of her, then doubts if she can trust Rhea before leaving. Rhea says that this is not what she meant.

We see a video package for El Grande Americano and the two luchadors who are also part of his matches and share his American theme, who are now collectively known as "Los Americanos."

Backstage, Maxxine Dupri wants a title match. General Manager Adam Pearce tells her to keep doing what she is doing and he will eventually find the right moment for her. After Maxxine leaves, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and Dragon Lee show up regarding El Grande Americano and his luchador allies, wanting a match with Los Americanos next week. Pearce says he will talk with Los Americanos and make the match happen.

Rhea Ripley beats Asuka after a conflicted Kairi Sane tries to hit Rhea Ripley with a spinning back fist from the ring apron only for Rhea to block it. Asuka charges at Rhea, but Rhea dodges and Asuka hits Kairi instead before winning with a schoolkid pin. After the match, Asuka spits blue mist into Rhea's face, then commands Kairi to attack Rhea. The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi) gang up on Rhea, but it is not long before Iyo Sky runs into the ring to reason with them. Asuka sobs and hugs Iyo, then hits her with a spinning back fist.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for September 1, 2025

Backstage at the arena entrance, General Manager Adam Pearce tells CM Punk to wait inside, but Punk says there is only one way in and out and that it is on sight when he sees Seth "Freakin'" Rollins. Pearce says "Have it your way."

"Main Event" Jey Uso heads to the ring. Jey says he should have the World Heavyweight Championship around his waist, but instead, he has medical tape. He says he should have listened to Roman Reigns' advice, but he does not play when it comes to his family: do not talk about his family, do not disrespect his family, and do not put his hands on his family. He says that Roman is laid up in the hospital, then calls The Vision (Seth "Freakin'" Rollins, Bron Breakker, "Big" Bronson Reed) out. LA Knight shows up instead. Knight says he believed in himself and believed he would be World Heavyweight Champion, but he stands as a loser. He says everyone else lost that match, and while he does not know about Jey living in Jimmy Uso's shadow, he says that Seth lives in his wife's. He says this did not have to happen, as they had the chance to take the title off Rollins, but Jey spoiled everything. Knight says he is sick and tired of being left laying and not being World Heavyweight Champion, and if Jey will stand in his way and have a tough time understand, he can get him up to speed "real damn quick." Jey says "Talk to me, Uce," but before Knight can explain, Breakker and Bronson show up. Knight notices that Rollins is absent and tells them to go back to the back if they cannot make a coherent sentence, but Breakker says he is coherent enough to beat Knight twice before mentioning that Roman Reigns also put Paul Heyman in the hospital. He says that should be concerned that Heyman is not here because there is nobody to hold him and Bronson back, and that they are going to put Knight and Jey in the hospital next to Roman. Bronson tells the fans to acknowledge their "Tribal Thief" but is met by "Fuck you, Bronson" chants, then brags about how he and Breakker beat down Roman like no one ever has because the vision does not include Roman and the vision does not include Jey or Knight, and for that, Jey and Knight are next. Breakker says Jey and Knight are a couple of smart guys, then proposes they have a tag team match tonight before Breakker questions their health and their courage. Knight puts his rivalry with Jey aside for the tag team match, and Jey accepts the challenge.

Backstage, Iyo Sky meets with The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane). Iyo Sky apologizes for last week, but Asuka says it is okay because they are family. Rhea says she respects both Iyo Sky and Stephanie Vaquer and believes they deserve their championship match, but she will do whatever it takes to earn a shot at the Women's World Championship. All of a sudden, The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) show up, and Asuka questions Rhea wanting a title shot before Iyo even has her match. Rhea says she does not know why Asuka has a problem with her, then says that she wants to be champion like everyone else and that her friendship with Iyo has nothing to do with it. Asuka says they are not friends and to stay away. Rhea says she is trying to play nice for Iyo's sake, but tells Asuka not to push her. Asuka says she has known her for ten years and that she will push anyone she wants. Rhea dares Asuka to try her, but Asuka says nobody is ready for her, even Rhea.

Backstage, General Manager Adam Pearce is met by Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez. Roxanne wants to be in the Women's World Championship match, but Pearce reminds her and Raquel that they just lost tonight. Knight says it may not be the best decision to be in tonight's match, but he cannot stop, and if he has to do this to get to the World Heavyweight Championship, he will do it. He then says he and "Main Event" Jey Uso can die together or die apart, then says that if one does dirt, one gets dirt. "Main Event" Jey Uso suddenly appears and says he comes from the dirt and that since "Big" Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker got Roman, he has them. Jey tells Knight to stay out of his way and there will be no problems.

He says he will be the bigger man towards Sheamus and that they can be friends again with Sheamus knowing that his place is beneath his feet. He says he was scary when he was held back, but he is devastating now.

CM Punk is in the ring. He hijacks the show until Seth "Freakin'" Rollins shows up and faces him man-to-man, and Rollins' music hits. Instead of Rollins, however, he gets Becky Lynch, and Becky says that she is man Punk will have to deal with. Punk tells Becky that this has nothing to do with her and to tell Rollins to get in the ring, but Becky says this has everything to do with her. Punk wants nothing to do with this, but Becky demands that Punk listen to what she has to say. She says he has had to listen to Punk tell lies about her husband Rollins, but Punk says Rollins is a coward. Becky says Rollins has sacrificed more for the business than Punk will ever know and that Rollins is everything Punk is not. At this point, Punk has had enough of Becky, who says that the CM Punk chants proved that nobody cared about what she was doing or the work that she was putting in. She also says that she got herself to WrestleMania and that she and Rollins brought the business to where it is today, which leads to "Shut the fuck up" chants from the crowd. Becky then says Punk needs to get out of the way as Punk is not what the business needs and does not fit the vision. Punk say the vision is a bit blurry, then says everyone continues to chant his name in the towns he was in, then says that Rollins and Becky were not there when he was because Rollins runs from adversity, hides behind his faction and now hides behind his wife when it stares him in the face, especially when Becky is a talented Superstar who just had bad taste and married a bum. Punk calls Rollins a paper champion and says it will never be over between him and Rollins. Rollins suddenly shows up and says he has been looking for Punk all night, and if Punk has something to say to him, he can say it to his face at the stage. Becky gets in Punk's way immediately, but Rollins walks away when Punk gets past Becky. When Punk turns around, Becky slaps Punk multiple times to no effect before calling him "pathetic." Punk says he will make Rollins regret cashing on it and make Becky regret putting his hands on him, but Becky says she already does and that she will have to bathe in bleach. Becky says that Punk will never be champion as Punk leaves.

Sami states that he knows that Punk and Rollins think about each other, and if Rollins wins the briefcase, "it is over," and Raw will turn into something that he does not like. Sami tells Punk that he and the fans all want him to win tonight. Sami then tells Punk that as much as he wants him to win, they will be face-to-face in the ring again if Punk becomes a world champion, and they will have a different conversation than the one they are having right now. Styles tells Heyman to tell Rollins that he knows all about his plan, and that everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

Backstage, we hear from Rusev. He says that he is doing the good work by preventing the weak from slipping into the abyss, then says that Sheamus burned him in the past when they were in The League of Nations. He says he is not the same man and that he was once like him with a body of granite and a neck of sand. He says that Sheamus stabbed him in the back, and if Sheamus does not stay out of his way, he will stab his.

Suddenly, Cathy Kelley interviews Sheamus after they leave, and Sheamus mentions his friendship with Rusev and says Rusev's bad decisions caused his career to implode while he has put on banger after banger. He says that someone must teach Rusev manners before he goes to far, and that someone is him. Sheamus then warns Rusev that he bullies bullies.

But if she loses, she will have to shake the very hand that will hold her down.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Stephanie Vaquer, who is soon met by Rhea Ripley. Ripley and Vaquer shake hands, and Rhea says she will see her at Money in the Bank.

Lyra Valkyria heads to the ring. Lyra tells Becky Lynch to stop being a coward and come to the ring so she can say what she has to say to her face. Becky shows up, and when she tries to speak, Lyra shuts her up and tells her she has said her piece and that she is delusional. She says that Becky was a good person on the way to the top and that she maintained her place by stopping being a good person, and that since Becky started ruining her life, she has changed into an angrier person and unlocked a side capable of destroying Becky. Becky says that Lyra has a poisoned perspective and is looking for any excuse to hurt her. She says she wanted to make Lyra better, not hurt her, but things has changed and that it will hurt Lyra to raise her hand. Lyra says Becky is saying more big words and tells her to face her in the ring, but Becky says she does not fight in Tulsa, Oklahoma and leaves. Lyra chases Becky to the stage, and referees show up to break up the resulting brawl.

We hear from Penta, who says that he looks forward to Money in the Bank and that nobody is hungrier than he is. He says that the Ladder Match is his kingdom, that Los Angeles is his city and that the Money in the Bank Briefcase is his destiny.

"Main Event" Jey Uso and Sami Zayn beat Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed by disqualification after Seth "Freakin'" Rollins shows up and hits Jey Uso with The Stomp at the bottom of the ramp. After the match, Bronson Reed goes for a top rope splash through the commentary table on Sami Zayn, but CM Punk shows up with a metal folding chair and takes out Bronson and Breakker. Punk sends Rollins into a retreat following a brief staredown, and Breakker and Bronson soon join Rollins. Jey, Punk and Sami then stare the three of them down from the ring.

Backstage, Liv Morgan speaks with Finn Balor regarding Roxanne Perez and says she knows where he is going with this, but Finn says Roxanne got him and JD McDonagh back on track and that there is no plan to cause any strife within The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez). He admits she came on strong, but he trusts "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio. Liv says it is not Dominik that she does not trust, but Finn says she will trust Roxanne in time. Liv and Raquel leave, and when Dominik tries to apologize for last week, Finn says it is water under the bridge.

Kairi Sane beats Raquel Rodriguez after Iyo Sky shows up when Liv Morgan tries to get involved in the match. Raquel grabs at Iyo Sky's hair, but Kairi boots Raquel's head into the ring post and hits the In-Sane Elbow for the win.

Backstage, Karrion Kross talks with Sami Zayn, but Sami gets ticked and wants to know what Kross wants with him. Kross says he thinks Sami is a liar. He says Sami could have been a world champion ten times over, then tells him he is a bad guy "like the rest of us" and not a good guy like he thinks he is. Sami doubts this, and Kross says he might be wrong, but he might also be right.

Backstage, "Main Event" Jey Uso is met by Gunther. Gunther says that the World Heavyweight Championship is personal to him and that Jey has tried to be a great champion, but says that Jey thinks with his heart instead of his head and that he will take his title. He says that Jey is a great guy who is there for his friends, but the problems of others should not be the business of the World Heavyweight Champion. Gunther thanks Jey, because he knew when he lost the title that Jey would not be worthy of it, and that Gunther is making it very easy for him, and that the party will soon be over next week. Jey tells Gunther he will see him next week.

El Grande Americano beats "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles and CM Punk to qualify for the men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. During the match, Punk goes for a pinfall attempt after hitting El Grande Americano with a GTS, but is pulled out of the ring by Bron Breakker. Punk is soon attacked by Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, then "Main Event" Jey Uso and Sami Zayn show up to fight Breakker and Bronson. Sami inadvertently shoves Bronson into Styles as he goes for a Phenomenal Forearm on El Grande Americano, so Styles turns around hits everyone outside of the ring with a Phenomenal Forearm instead. Styles then goes for a Phenomenal Forearm on El Grande Americano, but at this point, El Grande Americano has loaded his mask, and he headbutts Styles out of the air to get the pin and the win to qualify for the men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. After the match, Punk fights Breakker, but Seth "Freakin'" Rollins shows up and fights Punk. Punk goes for a GTS on Rollins, but gets Speared by Breakker. Sami goes after Breakker, but gets overpowered by Bronson. Sami goes down, and Rollins hits both him and Punk with The Stomp. Jey Uso and Sami Zayn try to make the save, but they are also overpowered and given The Stomp by Rollins, then Jey Uso receives two Tsunamis from Bronson Reed to end the show.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for May 26, 2025

Seth "Freakin'" Rollins, Bron Breakker, "Big" Bronson Reed and Paul Heyman head to the ring to start tonight's show. Heyman puts Breakker and Bronson on a pedestal while introducing them as only he can, and also mentions that CM Punk is not here thanks to Bronson Reed, who Heyman says is considered so dangerous by WWE that WWE will not put top tier talent in front of him. He then praises the sacrifices that Rollins has made to make the business bigger and better than ever, calling Rollins the most generous man he has ever met in his life. The fans chant "We want Roman" before Rollins says the four of them are not just the vision, but his vision and his way of securing the future through total control, total domination and complete power. The fans then chant "You sold out!" before Rollins proclaims he said what he was going to do at WrestleMania and did it, and when the fans chant "Fuck you, Rollins!", Rollins accuses the fans of questioning his integrity five minutes after singing his song. The fans then sing his entrance theme again, and Rollins finds humor in the situation, saying the fans do not know right from left and that they consider him the bad guy when he is the only one capable of leading WWE into the future. He says that the power he seeks comes through championships, and that he would have the World Heavyweight Championship if it were not for Sami Zayn and CM Punk. This leads to another "CM Punk" chant, and Rollins states that Punk found out what happens to those who underestimate him, and that Sami Zayn will find out tonight, as he has found something more powerful than championships: the Money in the Bank Briefcase. Rollins announces that he will qualify for Money in the Bank, win the contract, and cash in when, how and who he wants, and that nobody will be able to stop him, calling it complete domination and total power.

El Hijo del Vikingo is seen in the crowd.

Penta beats Chad Gable and Dragon Lee in a men's Money in the Bank Triple Threat qualifier. During the match, Vikingo stares down Gable from the front row, and Gable eventually attacks him after avoiding a speeding tope suicida from Dragon Lee. Later on, Vikingo attacks Gable as he is on the top rope, and Penta soon gets the win and a slot in the men's Money in the Bank Ladder Match with the Penta Driver on Gable.

The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, Carlito, Raquel Rodriguez) meets backstage. Roxanne Perez shows up, but so does Liv Morgan, who knows what is going on thanks to Raquel before heading out to get a women's Money in the Bank qualifier match.

WWE acknowledges the Memorial Day holiday in the United States.

Rusev quickly beats Akira Tozawa by submission with the Accolade. After the match, Rusev refuses to let go of the hold before Sheamus shows up and confronts him. Rusev walks away, but not without continuing to stare Sheamus down on his way out.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura. Both men plug their shows on Netflix before Kreischer runs off and finds The War Raiders (Ivar and Erik).

Backstage, Sami Zayn speaks with "Main Event" Jey Uso, saying he should have gone after Seth "Freakin'" Rollins at the start of the show, but Jey Uso says they must be smart about their actions. He tells Sami that he must qualify for Money in the Bank, and that he will be there if Rollins' group tries something.

Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura are seen in the crowd.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) retain the World Tag Team Championships against American Made (Julius and Brutus Creed) and The War Raiders (Ivar and Erik) after Xavier Woods grabs the tights while pinning Julius Creed with a schoolkid pin as The New Day have American Made convinced that they are temporarily working together against The War Raiders.

Backstage, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez run into Iyo Sky and Kairi Sane. Liv mocks them before Iyo tells them to keep walking, and when Liv says that she will do something Kairi could not and qualify for Money in the Bank, Kairi challenges Liv to a match.

"Main Event" Jey Uso heads to the ring. Jey says that Logan Paul and John Cena will "get yeeted on" at Money in the Bank before Gunther shows up. Gunther congratulates Jey on retaining against Logan Paul and on fifteen years in WWE, and says that Jey has held on to the World Heavyweight Championship longer than he expected and commends him on wanting to be "captain of the ship" on Raw. He admits that Jey has great qualities for a human being, but states that those are terrible qualities for a champion and that Jey does not know better, as being World Champion does not come natural to him. Gunther says he was champion for almost a year because he only had himself to care about, and that Jey does not have the intellect to carry himself as a great champion, and in two weeks, he will relieve him from that position and make things right when he chokes him out. Jey says he is done with everyone saying his days as champion are numbered and using the title as an excuse to turn one's back on friends and family, as he fights for them and they fight for him. He says that what Gunther is fighting for is less than what he fights for, and that he has Gunther figured out. He says he will see him in two weeks, and that at the end of the day, he fights for the fans and he will make him tap him out again.

Three-time Stanley Cup Champion Patrick Maroon, rapper Waka Flocka Flame, and Titus O'Neil are seen in the crowd.

Kairi Sane beats Liv Morgan by countering Ob-Liv-Ion with a schoolkid pin after Raquel Rodriguez argues with Roxanne Perez.

We hear from Rhea Ripley, who plans to be on top again after winning the Money in the Bank contract, and advises Iyo Sky and Tiffany Stratton to hold their titles tightly, as nobody is safe from "Mami in the Bank."

Backstage, Liv Morgan confronts Roxanne Perez, then says Raquel Rodriguez should have known better, as she is the veteran.

Lyra Valkyria heads to the ring. Lyra wishes she was facing a new challenger for the Women's Intercontinental Championship, then says Becky Lynch has talked herself into a title rematch at Money in the Bank. She says she has nothing left to prove by beating her twice, and while she felt like the ultimate winner against all her other challengers, she felt no satisfaction after beating Becky, who acted like she won the match afterwards. Lyra says she just wanted to pin Becky to the mat for three seconds at Backlash, but she got in her fiancée's face and tried to take her out, and now, it is personal. Lyra then says she will hurt Becky at Money in the Bank and break her ego, and if she has to bash her head in, then she will do it. Becky shows up and says Lyra cost her her opportunity, and says that she was done with her, saying that while Lyra won the match, she won the night, and says Lyra cannot let things go because she is the best thing to ever happen to Lyra and her title. Lyra tells Becky that this is not how it works and that people are talking about her because she beat Becky, and Becky proposes that if Lyra can beat her again, she will never challenge her for the Women's Intercontinental Championship again. Lyra says she has no problem with that, especially after she beat her the second time around with her eyes closed. Becky also says that if she wins, Lyra has to look her in the eye and raise her hand like she did for her when she beat her for the NXT Women's Championship. Lyra says she has never had a problem raising the hand of anyone who has ever beaten her, then says that Becky has yet to beat her.

Backstage, Sami Zayn runs into Karrion Kross, but Sami tells Karrion he has no time for his mind games. Karrion tells Sami that he will never win the title as Sami walks away, but Sami tells Karrion he will deal with him later.

Seth "Freakin'" Rollins beats Finn Balor and Sami Zayn in a men's Money in the Bank qualifier after Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed take out Sami Zayn as well as "Main Event" Jey Uso when the latter comes out of the entrance to fight Breakker and Bronson. As this goes on, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio shows up to pass a metal folding chair to Finn Balor, but Rollins sends Finn into the chair face-first with The Stomp to win the match and qualify for Money in the Bank. After the match, CM Punk shows up as Rollins has Breakker and Bronson do more damage, and Punk shows up from behind Rollins to hit him with a GTS as Breakker, Bronson and Paul Heyman block the front entryway. Punk flees through the crowd to end the show.
