Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for April 13, 2023

El Reverso beats Johnny Swinger in the BTI match. During the match, "Outlandish" Zicky Dice puts Swinger's foot on the rope but is caught by the referee, and when El Reverso confronts Zicky, he is able to avoid an attack from behind from Swinger, who inadvertently knocks Zicky off the apron before Reverso rolls Swinger up for the win.

Kenny King beats Frankie Kazarian after Brian Myers gets on the apron during a ringside brawl between Team Dreamer (Tommy Dreamer, Frankie Kazarian, Yuya Uemura, Killer Kelly, Bhupinder Gujjar) and Team Bully (Bully Ray, Kenny King, Masha Slamovich, Jason Hotch, John Skyler) and Moose shows up behind the referee's back to hit Kazarian with a Spear. After the match, the brawl continues, and Team Bully comes out on top. Moose and Myers also get involved in the brawl, helping Team Bully out.

We see footage from before the show earlier tonight where Steve Maclin interrupts the Canadian national anthem and declares himself the next IMPACT Wrestling World Championship and that IMPACT Wrestling is his now. He also says there is not a single person in the building who can beat him up before KUSHIDA shows up and brawls with Maclin on the ramp and into the ring. Maclin soon gets a chair, but KUSHIDA manages to fight him off and punch him in the face until security arrives to break up the brawl. When Maclin tries to get back in the ring, KUSHIDA knocks him off the apron with a backspring kick to the face.

Laredo Kid beats Black Taurus, Lince Dorado and Rich Swann in a four-way X Division showcase. (This is Laredo Kid's first appearance in IMPACT in sometime, especially given that he had been out from last October until March of this year after rupturing his intestines during a match in Monterrey, Mexico.)

We see a video package for The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) vs. Bullet Club ("Inevitable" Ace Austin and Chris Bey) for the Ultimate X Match for the IMPACT Wrestling World Tag Team Championships at Rebellion.

Backstage, Jessicka Havok and Rosemary stop in front of a coffin. Rosemary tells Havok that the dark forces that kidnapped Taya Valkyrie would have been lying in wait for them if they went after them, then tries to go into the Undead Realm alone. When Rosemary opens the coffin, she finds out that their way to the Undead Realm is being blocked, and Havok says that The Coven (Taylor Wilde and KiLynn King) is responsible for this and that she will take care of Taylor Wilde tonight. Rosemary then says that she will need more time to plan.

Taylor Wilde beats Jessicka after KiLynn King gets on the apron and knees Rosemary in the gut when Rosemary confronts her.

We hear from Jordynne Grace, who says that she is waiting for Mickie James's status for Rebellion. She says that while she has lost her title and has been patient and impatient at time, she knows she will get her rematch at Rebellion. Jordynne then says that after focusing on what she cannot control, she vows to focus on what she can control, and that is regaining the Knockouts Championship to become a three-time champion.

Backstage, we hear from Eddie and Alisha Edwards. Alisha admits she was the harshest towards Eddie recently, and she was excited when Eddie put the past behind him only to find out that PCO was holding him back. As a result, she intervened. Eddie says that PCO keeps coming back and that it must come to an end, and it will come to an end at Rebellion.

Before the next match, Joe Hendry says that the tandem of him and Dirty Dango is so inspiring that it will make everyone say "We believe," which Dango gets right this time.

Dirty Dango and Joe Hendry beat The Design (Callihan and Angels) after Callihan inadvertently hits Angels, starting ana rgument between Callihan and Deaner that allows Hendry to hit the Standing Ovation on Angels for the win. After the match, Kon attacks Hendry and Dango from behind, and as The Design goes on the attack, Director of Authority Santino Marella shows up. Dango and Hendry fight back against The Design (Deaner, Kon, Angels, Callihan) and Santino beats up Deaner before hitting Angels with the Cobra.

We see a video package for KUSHIDA vs. Steve Maclin for the IMPACT Wrestling World Championship at Rebellion.

We hear from PCO, who says that Eddie Edwards tried to kill him and that he will not die, because he is not human. He proclaims that at Rebellion, he will bury Eddie Edwards and give him last rites.

We hear from Bully Ray, who says that nobody knew anything and that there is no leader in Team Bully (Bully Ray, Kenny King, Masha Slamovich, Jason Hotch, John Skyler, Moose, Brian Myers), and that they all have the same mission of defeating Team Dreamer (Tommy Dreamer, Frankie Kazarian, Yuya Uemura, Killer Kelly, Bhupinder Gujjar). He says he cannot think of anyone different that he would put on his team, and that his team is the team Tommy Dreamer should be worried about and losing sleep over every night. Bully then says that if Dreamer thought Sacrifice, what his team will do at Rebellion will be worse. He asks Dreamer why he buries himself and brings other people into this, and tells him that screwing with him will not get him anywhere. He also tells Dreamer that he wishes he was as united as Team Bully and that his team will win Hardcore War.

Tasha Steelz beats "The Quintessential Diva" Gisele Shaw when Gisele goes for the Denouement on the outside only for Tasha to dodge it and Gisele to hit her knee hard on the ring steps.

Backstage, Mickie James tells Director of Authority Santino Marella that she has just gotten off the phone with the doctor. Santino tells Mickie that the ring is all hers, then tells her "You're the best."

The crowd leaves the arena in order to give Mickie James an empty arena in which to make official her status for Rebellion.

We hear from Mickie James, who is alone in a now-darkened arena. She says that she did not how to mention what she is about to mention in front of friends and family, and says that "The Last Rodeo" was her way of proving she could still hang and be champion. She says that she could not do this without the fans. Jordynne Grace and Deonna Purrazzo watch from backstage as Mickie James says there is always someone better waiting to knock one off their perch, and while it would have been an honor to be defeated, the one thing she cannot handle is time. Mickie admits she feels twenty years old again whenever she is in the ring, but when she goes backstage, time and age catches up to her and she can feel it. She says that with Rebellion around her corner and with her injury, she must do what is right for the locker room. She thanks the fans for "The Last Rodeo" and allowing her to believe in herself again, then says that she has gotten off the phone with her doctor and has found out that she is not cleared to compete at Rebellion. Mickie says she is a woman of her word and tells Jordynne and Deonna "It's your time now" as she lays the Knockouts Championship and her hat in the middle of the ring and leaves.

"The Darewolf" PJ Black beats Yuya Uemura in the BTI match to advance in the Impact Wrestling X Division Championship tournament.

We hear from Eddie Edwards, who says Honor No More is no more after PCO ground it into sand. He then tells PCO that he is still standing, and if PCO wants to grind him into sand, he can do it in the desert, and challenges him to one more match as he says it all ends tonight.

"Speedball" Mike Bailey beats Kenny King to advance in the Impact Wrestling X Division Championship tournament after rolling Kenny King up while King lifts him up as Bailey fights out of a single leg crab.

Backstage, Josh Alexander talks with The Motor City Machine Guns about his match with Aussie Open, then both of them mention their experience with Bully Ray. Sabin tells Alexander that Bully Ray cannot be trusted.

Backstage, "The Quintessential Diva" Gisele Shaw hands out copies of photos of herself wearing the Impact Wrestling Knockouts World Championship. When she hands some to VXT ("The Virtuosa" Deonna Purrazzo and Chelsea Green), Deonna says this is why Mickie James is still in Impact as she and Chelsea tear up and ball up the copies, and Gisele cuts ties with them. Chelsea then cuts ties with Gisele, and Deonna tells Chelsea that she will retire Mickie James next week.

Before the next match, Tasha Steelz says that Savannah Evans got an appetizer last week before asking who wants to be the main course. The challenge is answered by Jessicka.

The Impact Plus Flashback Moment of the Week is Bully Ray revealing he is the leader of Aces and Eights at Lockdown 2013.

We see another vignette for Killer Kelly, who says that she is looking for "something new, fresh and exciting to play with" backstage.

We see Eddie Edwards in the Las Vegas, Nevada desert again, waiting for PCO.

We hear from Steve Maclin, who says that he is sick and tired and asks how many more world champions he has to beat, as he has beaten the best Impact Wrestling has to offer yet everyone jumps the line to the World title. He says that he is done waiting for his shot and that he is taking the World title.

Backstage, as Matt Cardona and Brian Myers look forward to winning the Impact World Tag Team Championships, Brian Myers makes the mistake of saying "say his name," and Joe Hendry pops out of a nearby refridgerator. Hendry says that while Cardona and Myers are showing concern for the tag team titles, Myers shows no concern for the Digital Media title, and implies that he will be taking it.

Eddie Edwards finally meets PCO in the desert. PCO takes off the metal ring around his head, and when Eddie rushes at him, PCO grabs him. Both men brawl, and PCO pounds on him before trying to grab a rock. Eddie stops him, and both men brawl some more before PCO tosses him into a small bush and tosses him around again. PCO then puts on a black leather glove and puts the Mandible Claw on him, but Eddie hits him with a rock. Eddie then suplexes PCO into a big stone and blames him for the destruction of Honor No More, but PCO grabs him by the neck and choke slams him into the stone. PCO then grabs a rock, but Eddie hits him with a shovel. Eddie places PCO in a pit and starts shoveling dirt on him, then buries him, leaves the shovel on the ground and walks away.

Backstage, Mickie James welcomes Taylor Wilde back before they talk about Mickie's match with Chelsea Green next week. Mickie calls Chelsea the catalyst for "The Last Rodeo" and says that she has to beat Chelsea for herself. As Taylor Wilde mentions the match that they will have, Mickie says that Deonna Purrazzo will be in Chelsea's corner and offers to be in her corner. Mickie says she is aware of what Deonna is capable of and that she must do this on her own. Taylor Wilde says that she understands.

Eric Young vs. Sami Callihan ends in a no-contest after people in yellow hoodies surround the ring - and Sami Callihan - and overpower him when Callihan starts fighting them. After the match, Deaner calls the people in the yellow hoodies off, then two of them remove their hoodies to reveal themselves as Alan Angels and Big Kon as the rest kneel down. Eric Young then hits Callihan in the forehead with a spike.

Backstage, Jordynne Grace finds more photos of herself plastered all over the wall of her dressing room. All of a sudden, Jay Vidal, Gisele Shaw's photographer and content creator, takes a picture of her, and Jordynne beats him up. Jordynne then tells Jai Vidal that if Gisele Shaw wants a title match with her, she has it, and she hopes that Jai Vidal is there to take pictures. She then kicks Jai out of her dressing room, but not before Jai runs off with one of the photos.

"Inevitable" Ace Austin beats Moose with a schoolkid pin when Bully Ray shows up and distracts Moose long enough for Ace Austin to recover and avoid the Spear.

"The Quintessential Diva" Gisele Shaw hands Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt pictures of herself wearing the Impact Wrestling Knockouts World Championship.

Frankie Kazarian and "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander beat Aussie Open (Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis). After the match, Frankie Kazarian hands the Impact World Championship to Josh Alexander as Alexander and Kazarian's families watch.

VXT ("The Virtuosa" Deonna Purrazzo and Chelsea Green) retain the Impact Wrestling Knockouts World Tag Team Championships against Mia Yim and Jordynne Grace.

We hear from Violent By Design (Eric Young, Deaner, Joe Doering). Eric Young says that they are not in control and are not winning, but they have come back together and pushed back, and they got the victory at Emergence. He says that sugar is not medicine and that the status of the sickness is uncertain, then says that Violent By Design transcend time and will face Time Machine (Chris Sabin, Alex Shelley, KUSHIDA), whose time will soon be up.

Backstage, Josh Alexander is met by Vincent, who says that they should me making friends around here and that he sympathizes with him, but Alexanders says the only person getting sympathy will be Vincent when he drops him on his head.

As per pre-match stipulation, Maria Kanellis-Bennett is banned from ringside in Matt Taven and Mike Bennett's match for the Impact Wrestling World Tag Team Championships against The Good Brothers ("The Big LG" Doc Gallows and "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson). During the match, Matt Taven hits a cheap when Maria is on the apron distracting the referee, but Doc Gallows shows up and choke slams him on the ring apron on the other side of the ring. After the match, The Good Brothers are met by Scott D'Amore backstage, and D'Amore says it is time for them to do what they do best and defend the Impact World tag team titles against Honor No More. Anderson says that they will gladly defend the titles and that they are the best tag team on the planet. Gallows says Honor No More targeted the wrong tag team and that they will walk out as tag team champions.

Backstage in the doctor's room, Tasha Steelz learns that Savannah Evans may have internal damage in her neck. As she leaves, she is interrupted by Gia Miller. Killer Kelly sneaks up as Tasha Steelz says she has her attention and chokes her out. Killer Kelly tells Tasha Steelz she will be seeing her when she comes up on her from behind.

Brian Myers guests on commentary for the next match.

Bhupinder Gujjar beats Jason Hotch. (Jason Hotch won Gut Check earlier this year at the Arnold Classic and was awarded with an Impact Wrestling contract.) After the match, Brian Myers tells Bhupinder Gujjar says he is busy and does not know when he is going to give him another shot at the Digital Media Championship, then hits him with a cheap shot followed by a DDT. When referee Scott Armstrong tells Myers to get out of the ring when Myers pins Gujjar, Myers argues with him and shoves him. Gujjar then hits Myers with a Gargoyle Spear and pins Myers while Armstrong makes a fast count. Despite not being officially champion, Gujjar raises up the Digital Media Championship and takes it with him.

Backstage, VXT ("The Virtuosa" Deonna Purrazzo and Chelsea Green) meet with Gail Kim. Deonna Purrazzo demands that she become #1 contender to the Knockouts World Championship after pinning Jordynne Grace, but Gail Kim says that as deserving as Purrazo is, so is Masha Slamovich. Gail Kim then puts Masha Slamovich and Deonna Purrazzo in a match next week where the winner will face Jordynne Grace for the Knockouts title at Bound For Glory.

Backstage, Bhupinder Gujjar is met by referee Scott Armstrong, who asks Gujjar to return the Digital Media Championship despite putting Brian Myers in his place. Gujjar says if Myers wants the title back, he will have to get it from him.

"The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander beats Vincent. After the match, Eddie Edwards shows up and congratulates Alexander on winning before saying that just because they are opponents does not mean they have to be enemies. He says the never-ending war of the industry are trying to break them down into being mindless, unquestioning grunts who do what they are told, then says he has chosen his side and have stood up to the industry and Impact Wrestling. Eddie then says the fans have clearly chosen their side and to support the machine 100%, as they love to watch great men and women reduced to their own pitiful level. He then asks Alexander which side he will choose, and says there is no reason for them to go to battle at Bound For Glory when they can stand together in this war. Eddie then says that if they band together, they can still go to battle and both of them can win. As Eddie tells Alexander what will happen if he does not join him, he is suddenly hit from behind by a Wake-Up Call from Heath.

Backstage, we hear from Raj Singh and Shera. He says that they are training with bad intention, and when they come back, they are going to turn every stone. Suddenly, Moose and Steve Maclin are overheard arguing with each other. Suddenly, both men are attacked by Sami Callihan, who takes the brawl outside. Jessicka beats Alisha Edwards.

We see a video package of Mickie James, who will have a big announcement next week.
