Raw Deal - Raw recap for July 31, 2023

In memory of "Exotic" Adrian Street, 1940 - 2023.

Logan Paul heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Logan says he is here for Ricochet after he attempted last week to introduce Ricochet to his audience, who is nothing like the fans at tonight's venue, and says that all he wanted to do was highlight Ricochet's athleticism and hype up their match. He then says he was "sneak attacked, traumatized and abused" and that Ricochet tried to make a spectacle out of the whole thing, then says that at SummerSlam, he will beat Ricochet in the most viral fashion. Ricochet shows up and says Logan keeps spinning the story to make himself look like the good guy when he is not the good guy in this situation, and while he can fool his fans, he cannot fool the WWE fans. He states that the only correct thing Logan Paul spouted is that their match will be "box office," and admits that while he likes nothing about Logan and considers him "a horrible human being," he can respect his athleticism. Logan tells Ricochet that he appreciates that, then tells him that he is one of the greatest to ever do it until he showed up, and that the two of them have even thought alike ever since they leapt into each other at Royal Rumble. He then goes for a fist bump after telling Ricochet that they will "kill it" in their SummerSlam match, and Ricochet fist bumps. As Ricochet leaves, Logan brings up the fact that ring announcer Samantha Irvin is Ricochet's fiancée before saying that Samantha will announce him as the winner. Ricochet attacks Logan, but Logan hits him out of the air during a springboard move with a knockout punch.

Lesnar then says it is time to cut the crap, for he has been here way too long tonight, and tells Cody to come to the ring to come in the ring and shake his hand before their match before he leaves town. Cody heads to the ring and has a staredown with Lesnar, then Lesnar takes his hat off before Cody extends his hand. Lesnar shakes his hand, then pushes at Cody before leaving the ring. Cody then takes Lesnar out with a dive out of the ring. This leads to a brawl between Cody and Lesnar, and Lesnar soon gets the upper hand and smacks Cody with the ring steps. Lesnar's music hits, but Brock goes back on the attack one more time before heading to the back. Lesnar's music hits again, but Cody refuses to stay down and Lesnar attacks him once again before hitting him with an F-5 in the middle of the ring.

Becky Lynch heads to the ring. Becky says that she has done everything she needed to do to get her rematch with Trish Stratus, and there is nothing else left to do but do it and there is no better time and place than here and now. She calls out Trish, who shows up with Zoey Stark. Trish says she considered doing this match right here and right now, but then she realized that nobody tells her when and where to fight. Trish calls Becky beating Zoey a fluke and tells Becky that she will get her rematch, but she will dictate when the rematch happens. All of a sudden, WWE official Adam Pearce shows up and says the match will happen right now. The bell rings, but Zoey Starks gets involved as soon as the match starts, and the bell is rung again. After the match, Becky fights both Trish and Zoey. Zoey grabs Becky by the hair as she goes for a Manhandle Slam on Trish, and Trish then hits Becky with a chair.

Imperium (Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, Giovanni Vinci) heads to the ring. After the commercial break, Drew McIntyre heads to the ring and meets Imperium. Drew says he heard what Gunther had to say last week and that he is ready to battle right now. Gunther says he has brought the Intercontinental Championship to a prestige never seen before and that he will not defend his title tonight. He then sees why people connect with Drew, as Drew can never do anything in life, especially when he has repeatedly beaten and embarrassed him, and if Drew wants to ride his coattails, he accepts, and he will humiliate him at SummerSlam. Drew talks about how he met Sheamus for the first time and admits that while Gunther got the better of them at WrestleMania, SummerSlam will be one-on-one and he will beat himi and become champion. Ludwig Kaiser confronts Drew McIntyre for speaking to Gunther disrespectfully, then McIntyre admits he likes Kaiser for his moxie and says he should be the leader of Imperium. Kaiser says he will not let McIntyre disrespect Imperium, and Drew says that since Gunther does not want to do anything about it, he will fight Kaiser right now instead. McIntyre then calls for a referee before he and Kaiser have a staredown.

Drew McIntyre beats Ludwig Kaiser. After the match, Imperium (Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, Giovanni Vinci) attacks McIntyre. Matt Riddle runs into the ring, but he is soon overpowered by Gunther, who powerbombs him. Gunther then clears the announce table and tries to powerbomb McIntyre through the table, but it is McIntyre who ends up powerbombing Gunther through it instead.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey. Ronda says "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler cannot challenge her to "a fight," because when she is in the match, it is "the fight." She then accepts Shayna's challenge.

Finn Balor heads to the ring for his contract signing for his match against Seth "Freakin'" Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. Finn says that he believes he and Rollins can handle things like gentlemen, then demands that Rollins come tot he ring, sign the contract and make the match official. Rollins makes his way to the ring and signs the contract, then moves the contract towards Finn and takes a seat. Finn Balor contemplates signing the contract as Rollins says Finn has figured out he has zero chance of walking out of SummerSlam as World Heavyweight Champion, and while it is most likely he will beat him, if Finn Balor wins, his World Heavyweight reign will be shorter than his Universal Championship reign after Damian Priest cashes in on him, as Finn Balor would do the same thing. He tells Finn Balor to keep "chasing that ghost," as SummerSlam will be the end of, not the cornation for, The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio). Finn says Rollins thinks he is so smart and that he runs the place when he does not, then says The Judgment Day runs the place. As he continues to speak to Rollins, the rest of The Judgment Day surrounds the ring as Finn says he has lost for seven years because of Rollins. He says that his situation feels like "a seven-year itch," and at SummerSlam, he will make Rollins his "seven-year bitch." Rollins topples the table and fights Finn while also fending off Dominik, but he gets nailed with the Money In The Bank briefcase by Priest. Sami Zayn runs into the ring with a chair and goes to town on Priest and Dominik, but he is stopped by Rhea and Finn proceeds to beat Sami up. The Judgment Day then gangs up on Rollins in the middle of the ring to end the show.

At The Derby - Derby City Wrestling recap for July 23, 2023

"The Golden Boy" Jordan Clearwater beats Guy Cool to qualify for the Golden Opportunity Tournament.

Backstage, "Outlandish" Zicky Dice complains to Jonny Loquasto about Rocco Bellagio getting a free ride into the Golden Opportunity Tournament and states that he is so much better than Rocco - and also gets chewed out by Loquasto for running the United Wrestling Network out of Atlanta, Georgia after beating up a 17-year-old kid after telling him his parents were dead, to which Zicky says it is not his fault the kid had a fake ID - when Rocco shows up and listens in. When Zicky finds out that Rocco is behind him, he changes his tune and tells him he will see him in the tournament.

Backstage, Megan Harmon interviews Savanna Stone, who gives credit where credit is due to Zeda Zhang for beating her first test, then tells her that her winning streak will come to an end when she embraces her path and prophecy and becomes United Women's Champion at Golden Opportunity. She also says that she will not let "a prissy opponent" like Zeda interfere in her opportunity, then tells Brittnie Brooks that she is swimming in shark-infested waters and that her pretty little face is about to get damaged.

Brittnie Brooks beats Savanna Stone by disqualification after Savanna refuses to listen to the ref - and also shoves him away by the face - multiple times as she pounds on Brittnie on the ropes. After the match, Savanna Stone is attacked from behind by Zeda Zhang, who hits Savanna with the Snow Plow.

Before the next match, Dylan Bostic announces that he is back in Championship Wrestling and that each week, he has had to watch "these new guys" get golden opportunities while nobody else is giving him one. He then says he will make his own opportunity tonight and challenge anybody in the locker room, whether it is a new guy or one of the legends of the past. The challenge is answered by Mikey O'Shea.

Dylan Bostic beats "The Irish Juggernaut" Mikey O'Shea with a low blow after putting his hands on the referee, keeping the referee from seeing said low blow.

Backstage, Jonny Loquasto confirms a Golden Opportunity match on the phone, then TMZ ("Hysterical" Shane Haste, Che Cabrera, Bad Dude Tito) shows up. Loquasto tells Bad Dude Tito that Invictus Khash is cashing in his Red Carpet Rumble title shot, and Cabrera and Haste has to hold Tito back when he goes off.

"Benevolent" Jack Banning retains the United Television Championship against Kevin Blackwood with the guillotine choke. After the match, "King FatBoy" Papo Esco shows up and says he will not let Banning get away with hitting him in the back of the twice and announces that at Golden Opportunity, Banning will be defending the title against him in a Bodega Street Fight.
