Raw Deal - Raw recap for July 3, 2023

In memory of Darren "Droz" Drozdov, 1969 - 2023.

Seth "Freakin'" Rollins heads to the ring to start tonight's show. He says that SummerSlam is only five weeks away and that he has only one thing on his mind before "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes shows up and heads to the ring. Cody can only say the word "So..." before Brock Lesnar suddenly shows up, and Cody and Brock soon brawl on the ramp. In the ring, Brock goes for an F-5, but Cody slips out and hits the Cody Cutter. After the commercial break, Seth "Freakin'" Rollins says he is looking forward to his next challenger when The Judgment Day (Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio) show up. Rhea Ripley says everyone is here to see The Judgment Day take over, and Seth Rollins notes the conspicuous absence of Finn Balor. Rhea says Finn Balor is fine even though he is not here tonight, and Priest tells Rollins to concern himself with his Money In The Bank contract. He tells Rollins that he could cash in on him at anytime, even after he is done beating Shinsuke Nakamura tonight, and become champion. Rollins tells Priest that he would need him tired out and beaten. Priest asks Rollins if he loves a good fight, and hopes he has that same energy against Dominik Mysterio, as does Rhea Ripley. Dominik keeps getting booed every time he speaks, and Rhea has to accept on Dominik's behalf. Rollins says this may be a trap, but he would like to smack the moustache off of Dominik tonight. After Rollins asks the crowd if they want to see that, Rollins then accepts Dominik's challenge.

Damian Priest beats Shinsuke Nakamura.

"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey heads to the ring. Before she can say much of anything, "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler shows up and says she speaks for everyone when she says she is tired of hearing her speak on a microphone. Ronda asks Baszler why ten years of loyalty suddenly mean nothing, and Baszler calls her "narcissitic" before saying she is the reason Ronda is standing in a WWE ring, and the only she owes is an apology for bringing Ronda into the business. She also says that she had to help build rings, fill out applications, pay her dues and work her way into WWE while Ronda came in through the back door, then says she loves wrestling and that she has ruined it for her. Baszler then says that the sobering reality is that she is the only one who can shut her up. Ronda kicks Baszler and attacks her, and the two of them brawl in the ring. Baszler gets Ronda in an ankle lock before kneeing her in the face.

Backstage, Maxxine Dupri has Otis in a headlock as she gets ready for her first match. Maxxine says July 4th is coming early because there will be fireworks tonight. Chad Gable says Alpha Academy (Chad Gable, Otis, Maxxine Dupri) will use their skills to punch The Viking Raiders (Ivar, Erik, Valhalla) with a dose of patriotism.

Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan watch the next match from ringside.

Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville beat the team of Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell, the team of Emma and Nikki Cross, the team of Dana Brooke and Tegan Nox and the team of Kayden Carter and Katana Chance in a WWE Women's Tag Team Championship #1 Contender's Tag Team Turmoil Match to become number one contenders for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

We hear from Bronson Reed, who says he got where is now through fear. He says that if someone disrespects them, they get hurt; if they challenge him, he breaks them. He says that fear is what is needed to keep things in order, and that everyone will soon feast on a banquet of consequences.

Becky Lynch heads to the ring. She admits that she did not win at Money In The Bank, yet she is still focused on Trish Stratus, and she cannot think of a better place to end things here and now before calling Trish out for a fight. Trish Stratus and Zoey Stark make their way to the ring, with Trish wearing a protective facemask around her head. Trish states that she is still prettier than everyone and that everyone needs a mask like hers to hide their ugliness. She then says that she is not medically cleared because Becky broke her face. Becky says that if Trish cannot fight her, then Zoey Stark might as well get in the ring with her. After Becky mocks Trish's skills and Trish says nobody is better than her, Becky reminds Trish that she needed Zoey Stark's help to win at Night of Champions. Becky then says that she is the greatest of all time, and if Zoey Stark wants to get better, she will have to face her. She then says Trish will not be here long and that she is only here to get the rub off her, then asks Trish if she will make Zoey her secretary. Becky then asks Trish why she is here if she will not face her, and Trish says she is here because she is the face of the women's division that she helped create, and that Becky hated it when everyone thanked her and blames Becky breaking her face on that. She then says Zoey Stark will break her face, but as Trish and Zoey head towards the ring, Trish stops Zoey and says they will have to leave for a medical appointment before telling Becky to keep her calendar open for Zoey.

Jackie Redmond interviews "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes on the stage. Cody introduces Jackie to her first night on Raw along with the crowd, and that he decided to welcome Brock Lesnar back to Raw and tell him that they are not done yet. He says that Lesnar broke his arm and he broke Lesnar's face, and that they cannot coexist. He says he wants another shot at Lesnar and that he will fight him any night and every night.

Alpha Academy (Chad Gable, Otis, Maxxine Dupri) beat The Viking Raiders (Ivar, Erik, Valhalla) with a Sunset Flip from Maxxine Dupri to Valhalla.

We see post-match footage from Money In The Back of Ricochet and Logan Paul brawling.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Ricochet. He says a lot of people think that Logan Paul did not belong in WWE, and while Logan Paul can bring it, he does not like the disrespect that Logan Paul gave him after Money In The Bank. He then challenges Logan Paul to meet him face-to-face next week.

Rhea Ripley retains the Women's World Championship against Natalya. After the match, Rhea Ripley continues to attack Natalya until she is chased out of the ring by Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan.

We hear from Tommaso Ciampa, who says that he faced The Miz like a man only for The Miz to attack him from behind. Last Monday, however, he saw the look in Miz's eye, and while Miz has done everything that there is to do in WWE, he has had loss after loss in the last few years until he finally had the spark. Ciampa tells Miz to bring that same energy with him the next time they face off and that he will bring that chip on his shoulder. We then hear from The Miz, who says he does not care what is in Ciampa's hand, as the last person who called him a coward is gone and that so. He admits he has a spark in his eye and feels better than ever, and tells Ciampa to bring the best version of himself because he will get the best version of himself and everyone will put respect on his name.

Backstage, Rhea Ripley is met by Iyo Sky, who threatens to cash in on her. Rhea tells her that trying to cash in on her will be the biggest mistake of her life before Dominik Mysterio and Damian Priest show up. Rhea shows displeasure with Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez getting in her business and says they will regret it, then Dominik says that he will be the last one standing against Seth "Freakin'" Rollins.

Matt Riddle beats Giovannni Vinci after reversing an ankle lock into an O'Connor Roll. After the match, Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser gang up on Riddle, then Drew McIntyre shows up, fights his way to the ring, and confronts Gunther before hitting Vinci with a Claymore Kick.

Backstage, Matt Riddle thanks Drew McIntyre for having his back when Byron Saxton shows up and interviews McIntyre. McIntyre announces that he is back, and Riddle says that since McIntyre is back, he proposes they team up against Imperium (Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, Giovanni Vinci) next week. McIntyre likes the idea, then proposes they have a few pints tonight before next week.

Seth "Freakin'" Rollins beats Dominik Mysterio by disqualification after Damian Priest hits Rollins with South of Heaven. After the match, Priest continues to attack Rollins, but when he is about to put Rollins through the announce table with the Razor's Edge, Rollins fights back only for Dominik Mysterio to hit him from behind with the Money In The Bank briefcase. Dominik hands the briefcase to Priest and tells him to cash in, but as Priest gets in the ring, Finn Balor suddenly shows up and attacks Rollins. Priest confronts Finn as he is about to hit the Coup de Grace, and Dominik Mysterio tries to get them to stop arguing just to tell them that Rollins is getting away. When they fail to listen, Dominik goes after Rollins, but Rollins hits him with the Pedigree as he flees up the ramp. Priest and Finn continue to argue as the show fades to black.

This week on Raw Talk: Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green! "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler! Imperium (Gunther, Ludwig Kaiser, Giovanni Vinci)!
