Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown LIVE recap for July 14, 2023

Bianca Belair heads to the ring to start tonight's show. She says people say things like "patience is a virtue" and "good things come to those who wait," but she says it is so hard to wait when you want something so badly. Bianca says it feels like she has been waiting forever to get a reamtch against Asuka to win back her championship, and mentions she had to go through hoops to get back what should have been hers anyway. She then says tonight is the night and that it is her night to show that not only patience is a virtue, but vengeance is sweet. Bianca says she will give Asuka what she deserves before she struts out as the WWE Women's Champion before Charlotte Flair shows up. Charlotte says Bianca has gotten her fired up, then says she means no respect when she expects Bianca to win her title back tonight in "Flair country." She also says she wants no confusion as to whom next in line, and reminds Bianca that when she wins, it will be the two of them in the ring for the WWE Women's Championship. Bianca says she will not jinx herself right now because she is focused on Asuka right now, but proclaims that there would be nothing bigger than the two of them facing off for the title at SummerSlam. Charlotte asks "So if you win...it's on?" Bianca says she is ready for Asuka, then the two of them shake hands.

Backstage, Sheamus says that The Brawling Brutes (Sheamus, Ridge Holland, Butch) will get revenge against Pretty Deadly (Kit Wilson and Elton Prince), and Ridge Holland says that Pretty Deadly will be eaten alive.

Grayson says he is not surprised he is getting a championship opportunity after having a match with Edge, and now everyone is talking about him, including The Rock, whom he says is more concerned about him than his family falling apart. Bayley beats Zelina Vega after Zelina hits her with the chacleta. After the match, Shotzi can be seen on the TitanTron, saying that Bayley does not have control over her and that she is not scared of her. She then says that she may be a little weird, but she is in control, and she shows how chaotic she can really be by cutting her own hair with a razor while stating that Bayley is the one who is scared. Bayley and Iyo Sky do not know what to make of this.

Jey Uso heads to the ring. Jey says that growing up, he and Jimmy Uso were inseperable. He says that being brothers is a good thing, but there is something to being a twin that makes being a twin that makes it that much better, as they share the same emotions. Jey admits he never thought he would be hurt by another family member, and while he respect his family and the hierarchy, but he disrespects all of Roman Reigns for what he did and threatens to spank Solo Sikoa for what he did last week. He also says that Paul Heyman has been puppeteering his whole family for over 40 years and that it will all end now, and that he is the real Tribal Chief. Paul Heyman and Solo Sikoa show up, and Heyman states that Solo Sikoa is here to enforce the peace and that nothing will happen in the ring for a conversation, as it has happened this way long before, and announces that next week, Jey Uso and Roman Reigns will meet next week and discuss the rules of engagement. As for tonight, they are going to have a hat about things, and while he knows that Jey Uso feels hostility and vengeance on behalf of Jimmy Uso, Jey is starting to sound more and more like a Tribal Chief every single day. He then says that Jey Uso has no self-awareness and does not have what is needed to be the right-hand man, and tells Jey that what happened to Jimmy is all his fault, for he rose up against the Tribal Chief and wanted to be the head of the family, and tells Jimmy Uso that he caught a beating because of his brother Jey. Heyan says he does not know how Jey will forgive himself or how Jimmy will forgive Jey, and tells Jey that his parents will never forgive him. Heyman then tells Jey that he loves him, and yet he and Roman will never forgive him. Solo then silently demands the microphone, which heyman slowly hands to him, before telling Jey that what happened to Jimmy is all on him and that he will not forgive him either. Jey punches Solo, and both men brawl in the middle of the ring. Jey quickly comes out on top with a superkick before staring at Heyman and slowly advancing towards him. As Jey has Heyman cornered, he is attacked from behind by Solo Sikoa, but Jey fights off the Samoan Spike and beats him up before superkicking Heyman and hitting Solo with a tope suicida. Jey tells Heyman it is his fault, then grabs the chair and hits Solo with it when Solo gets back in the ring, and Solo and Heyman are forced to retreat.

LA Knight shows up on the stage. He talks about how he is suddenly everywhere and how everyone wants to use his name to get views and clicks, then says he is the best decision WWE has ever made because he stands head and shoulders above the rest and nobody can touch him. He then says Austin Theory's title is in trouble, not because five people are vying for it, but because he is gunning for it. LA Knight says that regardless of what people call him, they will be calling him champion because this is his game.

At the start of the next match, Bayley shows up alongside Iyo Sky with a ticket to the show in her hand. Later in the match, Charlotte Flair shows up in the front row, also with a ticket.
