Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for November 24, 2023

Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch, Shotzi and Charlotte Flair head to the ring to start tonight's show. Becky says it has been a while, then says that she has come around to SmackDown and that she agreed to team with everyone because the answer will always be yes when it comes to getting a piece of Damage CTRL (Bayley, Iyo Sky, Dakota Kai, Kairi Sane, Asuka) at WarGames. Bianca says they have a solid team, then says that Damage CTRL has gone low for quite some time, but with two rings, one cage, no disqualifications and plenty of weapons, they are not only going lower, they are going to war. Shotzi, who looks forward to the carnage, says Damage CTRL sought to humiliate her but only made her more dangerous and unbreakable, and she cannot wait to unleash her frenzy of madness on them. Charlotte says WarGames is not only a new beginning for the four of them, but the end of Damage CTRL, who show up as if on cue. Only Bayley shows up, however, and says she never thought she would be Charlotte and Becky on the same side "fighting the good fight" and knows that they will take shots at each other due to their egos. She also says that being a mom has made Becky soft and "okay with being picked last," then calls Damage CTRL the only real time walking into WarGames. Charlotte wants to know where the rest of Damage CTRL is, then Becky says she came to Chicago to fight, not to talk, and challenges Damage CTRL to a match with her and Charlotte tonight. Bayley says this is what she wanted, then says that Becky and Charlotte's team will implode tonight.

Backstage, Bayley tells the rest of Damage CTRL (Iyo Sky, Dakota Kai, Kairi Sane, Asuka) that Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair's team will implode and cease to co-exist tonight, then asks who will be in tonight's match with Becky and Charlotte tonight. Everyone agrees that Bayley should be in the match with Asuka.

The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and Damian Priest) retain the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship against The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) after Rhea Ripley distracts the referee. After the match, Bobby Lashley is furious backstage.

Charlotte Flair shows up and says that she got with General Manager Nick Aldis and made Bayley's challenge official. Becky is confused by this, as Charlotte did not consult her first and asks Charlotte why she called her when she does not trust her, but Bianca tells Becky that she made that call, not Charlotte. Becky says she does not want to fight everybody, then says she is getting ready.

We hear from Dragon Lee, who says that lucha libre has been everything to himself and his family and that if one is not strong in heart and mind, one will not find success. He says failure was not an option, and he adapted, learned and refused to stay down. He says he represents his family before him as the evolution of lucha libre.

It's time for The Grayson Waller Effect. Tonight's guest is the returning Kevin Owens, who is really Austin Theory in a Kevin Owens tanktop making fun of Owens. After Theory makes it to the ring, the real Kevin Owens shows up and says his suspension ended today, and after realizing they are making fun of him, threatens to punch them both again. Grayson says there are two of them and one of Owens, and says if it were not for Owens, he would have beaten LA Knight. Owens hints that if you keep mentioning someone's name, they are bound to show up, then LA Knight shows up when Theory mentions him. LA Knight says Grayson and Theory stepped in it tonight, and that they could not help themselves tonight only to get caught, and while he was going to let Owens punch them, they kept mentioning him, and they got caught again. He says Kevin Owens and Austin Theory make no difference in Grayson Waller losing to him, saying it is just a fact of life. Grayson says he can beat Knight, but Owens agrees with Knight. This leads to a brawl, and Owens and Knight clean house.

Backstage, Becky Lynch is met by Bianca Belair, who tells her that Charlotte Flair was right and was not trying to step on her toes, then tells Becky to put her differences with Charlotte aside. She also says that she needs them to be on the same page for WarGames. Becky says she is cool.

Carlito heads to the ring. Carlito says that tomorrow will be his first match in a premium live event since 2010, but all he has been able to think about is Rey Mysterio and getting his hands on Santos Escobar for injuring Rey. Carlito issues a message to Escobar, telling him that he made a big mistake before Escobar shows up. Escobar tells Carlito that Rey Mysterio is his family, not Carlito's, and if it were not for Carlito, his family would still be together, and blames him for Rey's career being over. Escobar and Carlito brawl on the outside, and officials have to run out and stop it. Escobar heads to the back, but he returns through the crowd and attacks him on the outside.

Dragon Lee shows up wanting to teach Escobar a lesson tomorrow night, and Nick Aldis tells him he has his match.

We hear from The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh). Rhea Ripley says The Judgment Day runs all of WWE, and Finn Balor calls tonight's match a warm-up. Dominik Mysterio laughs at the fact that Jey Uso took out Randy Orton for more than two years, and JD McDonagh says that Jey Uso's team is better off staying at home. Priest says he cannot help but agree, and says that if Jey does not take Orton out, The Judgment Day will make sure Orton does not have another comeback.

Before the next match, Charlotte Flair is met by Becky Lynch, and both of them tell each other that they are on the same page.

Dakota Kai then announces that Damage CTRL has challenged Shotzi, Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair to find a fourth member for WarGames. He says Rey became a father figure to him and made him feel at home, but after last week, he realizes "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio was right about Rey. He says he deserved the United States Championship and wanted to bring in new members, but Rey Mysterio was the one doing both, then says they were supposed to be family only for Rey to side with "an outsider like Carlito" over him. Escobar then says that he hopes that the pain Rey is feeling reminds him of when Rey betrayed him, then apologizes for not doing more damage and hopes Rey got an infection, gets amputated and never comes back. Zelina Vega heads to the ring as Escobar insults Rey while Joaquin Wilde and Cruz del Toro watch, then Zelina confronts Escobar. When Escobar tells Zelina they are done, Zelina slaps him and leaves. When Wilde and del Toro comfort Zelina, Escobar is surprised they are siding with Zelina over him and states that he made them and that they only exist because he lets them. This turns into a confrontation, and Escobar tells them to get out, calling them dead weight he does not need. As they leave, Escobar attacks them both from behind. Heyman then goes back to mocking John Cena being unable to communicate thanks to Solo Sikoa, then LA Knight shows up as Heyman reiterates once again that John Cena will never be coming back to WWE. LA Knight says that no matter how good Roman Reigns has been, he is still champion because of The Bloodline, which he says is a problem that he plans to solve. He says he is standing on SmackDown after losing at Crown Jewel and that The Bloodline will cease to be because he made it that way, and that everyone will fall until it is just him and Roman, starting with Jimmy Uso.

It is announced that Santos Escobar will face Carlito at Survivor Series WarGames.

Backstage, Bianca Belair meets with Shotzi and Charlotte Flair, and Bianca tells Charlotte to make the call.

Cody admits he never thought he would stand in an NXT ring, and now that he is, something feels right, as he is in Florida where the Rhodes have made their name. Cody then states that he has not an announcement, but announcements. He first announces that the men will also have an NXT Breakout Tournament after the women's tournament, then announces that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic will also be coming back. The crowd wishes Dragunov a happy birthday, then Dragunov welcomes Cody to NXT, saying that his announcements bring excitement and life to NXT before admitting he has wanted to meet a man who has the passion and will to suffer for the fans. He says that Cody has a fire that burns with passion and brings everything to the next level and that he ca do it, too, then Rhea Ripley and "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio show up. Dominik says that the fans are here to see him, and says that while Dragunov is the NXT Champion, he does not compare to him, the "true, double-A champion." Dragunov says he is not surprised Dominik wants to talk when no one wants to listen to him, then says his father used to work in a prison, and that he knows how to turn a barking dog into a sweet, little puppy. Rhea whispers into Dominik's ear while Cody whispers into Dragunov's, and Dominik dares Dragunov to put the NXT title on the line tonight and prove he is half the man he says he is. Cody takes this as Dominik not being willing to defend his title, but Rhea says he has been carrying WWE on his back the entire year and has won his title again. Dragunov says today is a day of celebration, and he could not think of a better gift than eating Dominik alive. After Dragunov tells Rhea he will eat Dominik alive, Cody makes the match official, then adds a special guest referee: L.A. Knight.

John Cena heads to the ring. He says NXT may be the future, but it is making history tonight after what has happened so far tonight, including the fans singing his own theme song, and states that the fans makes NXT what it is every Tuesday night. Cena says it is an honor to share space with the fans tonight, then says he is not alone in that case, as this is why LA Knight and Cody Rhodes are here. The fans then chant "Thank You Cena." He thanks the fans for creating the environment that a long list of WWE Superstars want to visit, as everyone is Raw, SmackDown and NXT. He says he could not say yes to Carmelo Hayes fast enough last week, as they share the same common values as they go into his match with Bron Breakker. Suddenly, Bron Breakker shows up, and the fans chant "Bron Breakker Sucks" to John Cena's theme before Breakker says it is a big night for NXT before stating the fans came here to see him (to which Cena jokes they can't), not Cena. Bron Breakker then says that John Cena is living in a fantasy land just like Carmelo Hayes is for thinking he can beat him. John Cena says that Bron Breakker is made for the business and is athletically gifted, but lacks respect and has a bad attitude. He says he did not come here to run Breakker down, then says he is here for his match before respectfully wishing Breakker good luck tonight. Cena extends his hand, but Breakker punches Cena instead. Breakker goes for the Spear, but Cena avoids it and goes for the Attitude Adjustment, which Breakker barely escapes.

Backstage, "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes is met by Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo, who propose a ten-team over-the-top battle royal where the winners challenge them for the NXT Tag Team Championships at Halloween Havoc. Cody makes it official for next week as the "Bada Bing Bada Boom Battle Royal."

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Baron Corbin, who finds it odd that Dragunov is talking about passion and has a match with Dominik Mysterio that he knows he can win. He says Dragunov is not fooling him and that he is ducking him after knowing what he is capable of, and says that he is deserving of a title shot. He says that everyone around here is all the same, then leaves when LA Knight's entrance theme hits.

At Chase University, Thea Hail suddenly shows up, saying Jacy Jayne says it is time to come back to class, assuming Jacy shows up, too. Unfortunately, Jacy Jayne's presence causes chaos, and when Jacy shares a photo, another student gets in trouble for it. Jacy turns things around with the news that Andrew Chase and Duke Hudson are in next week's tag team battle royal.

Backstage, Bron Breakker is met by Paul Heyman. Heyman talks about how he has worked with his father and uncle, then says Breakker has the best both have to offer and that Breakker in the main event of WrestleMania is the future. He says the only thing standing in way is Carmelo Hayes, but Bron Breakker says that regardless of who stands in his way, he will break them all. Heyman then calls Roman Reigns after Breakker leaves.

We see a person flipping the channels on a CRT television looking at footage of WWE. He sees footage of Brian Pillman, then we find out Pillman is his father. We then get a glimpse of the man, who is none other than Brian Pillman Jr., who is no longer in All Elite Wrestling. He says Pillman was one of the most influential in the business and that everyone had fond memories of him. He then says he, his own son, does not, as he lost him when he was young. He says being a WWE Superstar is the last thing he wanted to be, but the industry is in his blood and he has no choice but to embrace it and bring pain to the business that brough him grief. Before the next match, Paul Heyman introduces himself before introducing Bron Breakker as "the single, most talented performer on the NXT roster" and "a WrestleMania moment waiting to happen."

Carmelo Hayes beats Bron Breakker after John Cena stops Breakker from using the ring steps as a weapon and stops Solo Sikoa from getting involved, brawling with him to the back. After the match, Bron Breakker hits Carmelo Hayes with a Spear. He then says that win or lose, there is only badass in all of WWE. Suddenly, a gong is heard, followed by a motorcycle, as The Undertaker shows up as "The American Badass." The Undertaker shows up on a motorcycle and rides it around the ring, then has a staredown with Bron Breakker in the middle of the ring. Breakker calls Undertaker an old timer and says there is only one badass around here. The Undertaker says he has been watching Breakker for a long time, and one day, he will be a very special talent. He then says it is not today before distracting him with the microphone and punching him in the face. The Undertaker then choke slams Bron Breakker in the middle of the ring before telling him there is always an older, bigger, badder, badass waiting around the corner and that he just met the baddest of them all.
