Layin 'da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for September 22, 2023

John Cena heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Cena says he has been able to do a lot of things since the fans let him come back home and head to a lot of places, then says tonight will be different because he came back to compete and tonight is the night he would like to have a match. He says that he is angry enough to fight The Bloodline (Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa), and that he has found a phenomenal tag team partner who is just as angry as he is: "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles. AJ Styles heads to the ring and asks Cena if he wants to tag The Bloodline, then calls The Bloodline out. Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa show up and get on the ring apron, then Jimmy Uso steps down before Solo slowly does the same.

Backstage, WWE official Adam Pearce meets with John Cena and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles, saying he has to talk with Paul Heyman to make their challenge with The Bloodline (Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa) official.

The Latino World Order (Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar) beat The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) after Lashley plants Rey on the ring apron as Angelo Dawkins distracts the referee and Dawkins goes for a powerbomb only for Rey to roll him up for the win.

As the show looks back on The Rock's surprise return last week and how it led to over 153 million views on social media, Austin Theory shows up and takes his anger out on the commentary team, wanting some of the credit for that moment while ripping the top of the table off and being told by officials to head to the back.

We hear from Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre. Isla says magic has been in their blood since the beginning of time and that they see things other do not. She also says that the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships seem to be a source of misfortune to the point they are cursed.

Backstage, WWE official Adam Pearce tells Austin Theory he cannot hijack the show. As The Brawling Brutes (Ridge Holland and Butch) show up and make fun of Theory for making an ass out of himself, Grayson Waller shows up and tells Austin Theory that The Brawling Brutes are jealous and have never seen a real star before. Butch says he and Ridge know a lot about fighting, and Pearce says that is a good idea, making the match official.

Backstage, Bobby Lashley chews out The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) out for their loss, and tells him to give all the clothes and the rings back and sit in catering if they cannot pull the trigger.

Charlotte Flair shows up to watch the next match from ringside.

Iyo Sky retains the WWE Women's Championship against Asuka after Charlotte Flair attacks Bayley for helping Iyo Sky get to the ropes from the outside to break the Asuka Lock, distracting Asuka and allowing Iyo Sky to hit Over The Moonsault to retain.

Backstage, The Bloodline (Paul Heyman, Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa) are met by WWE official Adam Pearce, who shows up with a contract for a tag team match against John Cena and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles. Paul Heyman says that as long as the match is not tonight, he is fine with it. Pearce then mentions the match is at Fastlane, which Jimmy approves of. Heyman tells Jimmy that the match usually needs approval from Roman Reigns, but Jimmy tells to let him know what Roman says. Solo tells Heyman not to worry about it, because after tonight, there will be nobody left to fight them at Fastlane.

We hear from Kit Wilson, who talks about Elton Prince's shoulder injury and his long, difficult road to recovery. We then see a montage of Kit helping Elton get better while a nurse says "Elton Prince has a separated shoulder. He'll be fine."

Grayson Waller and Austin Theory beats The Brawling Brutes (Ridge Holland and Butch) after Waller backs Butch into a ring post to break a sleeper hold on the outside and saves Theory from a Boston Crab from Ridge with a rolling Stunner, allowing Theory to hit the A-Town Down on Ridge for the win.

WWE official Adam Pearce oversees a contract signing for a match between the team of John Cena and "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles vs. The Bloodline (Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa) at Fastlane. Cena shows up first, followed by Styles, followed by The Bloodline. However, before Styles can make his entrance, he is attacked backstage by Jimmy Uso. Cena runs to the back as Solo Sikoa hits Styles with a diving headbutt from a stack of crates, and officials have to restore order and check on Styles as the TitanTron electronics briefly spark. Jimmy and Solo leave before Cena shows up to see to Styles.

Backstage, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles is placed on a stretcher and into an ambulance. Paul Heyman heads to the ring as Styles is placed into the ambulance and Mia Yim and Karl Anderson get in, with Karl telling John that he told Styles not to get involved with The Bloodline (Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa). Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa head to the ring afterwards. Solo tosses the table and all of the chairs in the ring over the top rope to the outside, then Paul Heyman tries to speak only to be booed out of the building. He says that the fans can boo him all they want, then addresses the contract for The Bloodline's match at Fastlane and John Cena's partner not having a signature on the contract. Jimmy Uso takes the microphone out of Heyman's hand and says that if John Cena is smart like he says he is, he would have jumped into the ambulance and gotten far away from The Bloodline. He then says that John Cena will end up in an ambulance anyway, then Cena runs to the back, fights Solo on the outside, then fights Jimmy in the ring. The numbers game soon catches up to Cena as Jimmy superkicks him while Cena goes for an Attitude Adjustment on Solo. Solo then hits Cena with the Samoan Spike, then he and Solo stomp Cena before attacking him again. Jimmy Uso then signs the contract, and Solo does the same before Jimmy hits Cena with a second Uso Splash.

This week on The SmackDown LowDown: The Latino World Order (Rey Mysterio, Santos Escobar, Joaquin Wilde, Cruz del Toro, Zelina Vega)! Charlotte Flair! Austin Theory and Grayson Waller!

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
