Generation NXT - NXT recap for September 19, 2023

Becky Lynch heads to the ring to start tonight's show. She says that the NXT Women's Championship Tour continues, then calls out numerous NXT Superstars before stating it feels good to be back and represent the fans, as the fans make NXT. Becky states that "Tiffy Time" is over, but admits that Tiffany Stratton pushed her to her limit and can have her rematch when she is ready. As Becky calls her an idiot and an asshole, Tiffany shows up. Tiffany says she is getting a rematch, stating that she deserves it, and while Becky may be number one, she is the future of WWE and the future two-time NXT Women's Champion. She then says she wants the rematch tonight. She then says she knew the fans would love that, and announces that the rematch is not happening tonight, as the fans cheered for her until Becky showed up. Tiffany wants her rematch on a bigger stage: No Mercy. Becky tells Tiffany that the results will be the same, not because she is not good enough, but because she is not hungry enough, for she is entitled. She says it is down to who wants it more, and that she wants it more than Tiffany. Tiffany says Becky should be thanking her for her return to NXT, for if she had not mentioned her, Becky would be heading to the next retirement home for the next legend to beat for some clout. Becky says they both might as well go punch for punch, then she punches Tiffany in the face only to be ambushed by Kiana James. Kiana holds Becky up so that Tiffany can hit her with a chair, but Becky fends them off and forces them to retreat.

Backstage, Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo look into possible contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championships, and decide to have them fight it out to see who wants an opportunity more.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Ilja Dragunov, who says that he is still suffering and yet he will still keep going, and at No Mercy, the dragon will cover his wings in gold. Becky Lynch shows up and Dragunov lets her have the floor, and Becky says she can go two-on-one with Kiana James and Tiffany Stratton tonight.

Kelly Kincaid interviews Meta-Four (Noam Dar, Oro Mensah, Lash Legend, Jakara Jackson) in the Meta-Four Lounge. Everyone is dressed like Morpheus from The Matrix as Noam Dar says he will retain the NXT Heritage Cup.

Backstage, Trick Williams is met by "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio. Dominik says he knows how Trick feels living in Carmelo Hayes' shadow, but Trick says he is in nobody's show. Dominik says The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley) helped him shine when he got out of Rey Mysterio's shadow and that they can help him do the same. Trick says nothing or no one will drive a wedge between him and Carmelo, but Dominik says he used to say the same thing about Rey.

Butch beats Tyler Bate with ten seconds left in Group A of the Global Heritage Invitational and earns two (2) points. With five points, Pete Dunne is mathematically the winner of Group A and moves on to the finals.

In footage from earlier today, Jacy Jayne and Thea Hail head to an ASC store to go shopping. Thea Hail tries on some clothes, and ends up finding the perfect outfit. Jacy says she cannot wait for everyone to see the new Thea Hail next week.

Duke Hudson beats Joe Coffey with a schoolkid pin in Group B of the Global Heritage Invitational and earns two (2) points. This causes Nathan Frazer, Joe Coffey and Duke Hudson to be in a three-way tie with four points each.

Backstage, Kelly Kincaid interviews Nathan Frazer, who says that he has a second chance with a Triple Threat Match to decide the winner. Kelly then tells him that she just found out that the Triple Threat Match is tonight.

We see a tweet from Mr. Stone, stating that Von Wagner is not in a good condition.

Roxanne Perez beats Lola Vice despite Lola Vice countering Pop Rox.

We hear from Eddy Thorpe, who sees the branch where Dijak whipped his belt into and tore the bark from. He says that Dijak wants him to display his viciousness and his wild side, and that Dijak wants to press buttons and call him "a savage." He says that there is a merciless savage inside of him and that he has insulted his culture and desecrated his land, and he wants to repay the favor with a strap match. Eddy Thorpe then tells Dijak that if he wanted a savage, he's got one.

Backstage, Becky Lynch is met by Roxanne Perez. Becky tells Roxanne to keep doing what she is doing. Roxanne says she took a page from Becky's book and that she isn't letting people walk all over her anymore. She also asks Becky to let her be her tag partner, but Becky tells Roxanne to ice up her shoulder and that she is not called "The Man" for nothing.

Ilja Dragunov guests on commentary for the next match.

Dominik Mysterio beats Carmelo Hayes by disqualification when Carmelo Hayes inadvertently throws Dominik Mysterio into Ilja Dragunov and Dominik follows it up by throwing Carmelo into Dragunov on purpose before slapping Dragunov in the face. After the match, Dragunov gives Dominik the beating of his life, but Carmelo runs into the ring and ends up the victim of a Torpedo Moscow after Dominik throws Carmelo into the path of it. As Dominik leaves the ring, he is superkicked by Dragon Lee, who then raises up the NXT North American Championship.

Backstage, Trick Williams is met by Joe Gacy and Ava. Gacy says everyone wants to be their own man but never thinks about how it affects everyone else. Ava says Trick's loneliness is written all over him, but Trick says he is still loyal to Carmelo. Gacy says their situations are the same and asks Trick to join them, but Trick tells them he knows how this movie ends.

Backstage, Andre Chase congratulates Duke Hudson on bringing Group B of the Global Heritage Invitational to a three-way tie, then fires him up for the Triple Threat Match.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Hank Walker and Tank Ledger. Hank Walker says Bronco Nima and Lucien Price are big dudes, but so are they, and Tank Ledger says that they are here to feast on the tag team division and they have no problem working up the appetite.

Joe Coffey beats Duke Hudson and Nathan Frazer in a Triple Threat Match to win Group B and move on to the Global Heritage Invitational finals after knocking Frazer out of the ring following Frazer's Phoenix Splash on Hudson and hitting Hudson with All The Best For The Bells. After the match, Butch and Joe Coffey have a staredown in the ring.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Mustafa Ali, who says that nobody but himself is in an uproar, for he is the true #1 contender for the NXT North American Championship and he promised Ilja Dragunov a shot after winning the title. He wants to know how Dragon Lee - who he beat - got a title shot before him on next week's Raw, and says neither Dragon Lee or Dominik deserve to hold the championship. He says he will deal with both of them next week on Raw. (This never happens, as Mustafa Ali gets released from WWE two days later.)

Backstage, Tiffany Stratton and Kiana James agree that they both hate Becky Lynch and that they will do some serious damage to Becky as she has no friends. Tiffany also says she has a surprise for Becky.

Backstage, Brooks Jensen cannot figure out why Myles Borne would turn on him and Josh Briggs, and as Josh Briggs and Fallon Henley argue, Baron Corbin shows up and tells them to shut up so he can enjoy his massage. Briggs says that he was glad Corbin heard that, as he thought his eardrums got blown lout last week, then calls Baron out for calling the locker room soft while having a massage before telling him he will need another one soon. Briggs says that he was glad Corbin heard that, as he thought his eardrums got blown lout last week, then calls Baron out for calling the locker room soft while having a massage before telling him he will need another one soon.

Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria beat Tiffany Stratton and Kiana James. After the match, Tiffany Stratton hits both Becky and Lyra in the back with a chair, then lifts up the NXT Women's Championship over a downed Becky.
