Collision Course - Collision recap for September 9, 2023

We hear from Samoa Joe, Penta el Zero Miedo and Alex Abrahantes, Roderick Strong and The Kingdom (Matt Taven and Mike Bennett), and Darby Allin at the start of the show.

Jon Moxley retains the AEW International Championship against Action Andretti in an open challenge after Andretti kicks Moxley's head in only for Moxley to reverse it into the rear naked choke.

We hear from Roderick Strong, who talks about his relationship with Adam Cole before saying that his caring for MJF as much as he has cared for him tears him apart. Roderick says that he is still there for Adam and that Adam is the one who had changed, letting him down time and time again. He says that Adam knows what being alone does to him, then says he will go on to win the Grand Slam World Title Eliminator and become the AEW World Championship before stating that he will not be happy because he just wants his friend back.

Kris Statlander retains the TBS Championship against Robyn Renegade. After the match, Charlette Renegade hits Kris Statlander with a chop block, then she and Robyn gang up on her until Jade Cargill makes her sudden return. Jade Cargill lays out both of The Renegades, then offers her hand and helps Kris Statlander up only to hit her with Jaded. Jade then kisses the TBS Championship while "Smart" Mark Sterling joins her in the ring.

Backstage, Renee Paquette interviews Ruby Soho and Saraya. Ruby says she did not forget Toni Storm costing her championship gold, and Saraya says that Toni Storm is "not with it" and that she was using mayonnaise as a facial cleanser backstage. Saraya then announces she will make her "re-debut" as Grand Slam when she both walks in and out as AEW Women's World Champion.

We see a face-to-face interviews between Claudio Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston. Eddie accuses Claudio of leaving the independents without doing business with him to go to "the land of make-believe." Claudio says sometimes the right choice is not the easy choice, but Eddie says Claudio knew better. Eddie Kingston challenges Claudio Castagnoli to a match at Grand Slam with the New Japan Pro Wrestling Strong Championship on the line. Claudio Castagnoli accepts on the condition that Eddie shakes his hand and tells him he respect him, then says that Eddie will never be the better man even if he were to lose to him.

Bullet Club Gold ("Rock Hard" Juice Robinson, Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn) beat Dios del Inframundo, Aerostar and Gravity in a trios match. ("Switchblade" Jay White and Metalik are not in the match, despite being scheduled for it the previous night.) During the match, Andrade el Idolo is seen watching from backstage.

We hear from Miro's wife, who says that she was the first casualty on the righteous road and that when Miro won the TNT Championship, he lost himself. She says she wanted to prove she had his back, but Miro was stubborn and has truly forsaken everything. She says that if Miro will go down this path, she will go down hers. She says she sat on the sidelines for two years tearing herself down, breaking herself apart and asking if she had what it took, and every fiber of her being was screaming not to leave until she found out. She says she was the coldest manager in all of wrestling and that she wants to do it again.

We hear from The Dark Order (Evil Uno, Alex Reynolds, John Silver), who want people to support them.

We then hear from The Acclaimed ("Platinum" Max Caster, Anthony Bowens, "Daddy Ass" Billy Gunn), where "Daddy Ass" Billy Gunn talks about their world tour with the AEW World Trios Championships, with Bowens announcing New York City as their next stop.

Rey Fenix beats Angelico.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler). Wheeler runs down the matches they have had through this year, then asks who will be the next to step up. Harwood says they need to be in the main event, but in order to stay the best, they need more contenders, and announces the FTR World Tag Team Challenge, where any young tag team can step up and take them on for the tag titles.

Before the next match, Darby Allin is attacked by Luchasaurus, and Christian Cage tels Darby Allin that he will never be a champion again for as long as he in AEW. Luchasaurus then throws Darby into a metal door, but despite the attack backstage, Darby Allin makes his way to the ring with Nick Wayne at his side.

Roderick Strong beats Darby Allin to advance to the finals of the Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament. During the match, AR Fox shows up, much to the chagrin of Nick Wayne, and when The Kingdom fight them on the outside, AR Fox inadvertently takes out Nick Wayne with a somersault when Matt Taven pushes Nick Wayne into AR Fox's path. After the match, Nick Wayne gets upset with AR Fox as he checks on Darby Allin.

We hear from Powerhouse Hobbs, who says that every man has his limit and that he took Miro to his limit. He says he proved he prayed to no man as he looks to The Book of Hobbs for guidance, and everyone saw who the real winner was. He says the next chapter of his book is still unwritten, and that everyone will fall to The Book of Hobbs.

Backstage, Lexy Nair interviews "Limitless" Keith Lee. Keith Lee says there are certain individuals avoiding him, and now that he is here, he is "The Collision," and he advises everyone to run.

We hear from The Righteous (Vincent, Dutch, Stu Grayson). Vincent says all have the power in their hands, but most are afraid to use it except for them. Vincent says that everything they do is new, and tells anyone who has a problem to either step up or get off their road.

Tony Schiavone interviews "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson in the ring. When asked what is next for him, Danielson says he told his daughter that once she turned seven, she would start finishing up his career, and right now, she is six. He says that he keeps his promises, especially to the people he loves, and time is running out. Danielson then says he will not go gently into that good night, and anyone who thinks he will does not know who he is, for he is Odysseus heading home from the Trojan War ready to fight the Cyclops. He says that if this is his last year, this will be the most epic year of his career. He says that if this is his last year, this will be the most epic year of his career. He says he is calling his shots, and his next shot is against Zack Sabre Jr. at WrestleDream. Suddenly, "Absolute" Ricky Starks and Big Bill show up, and Starks says it is fitting that Danielson is on the show while is in catering, then says he had to whip Ricky Steamboat to get attention and that he has everyone on notice. He says that he has cemented himself as "the face of Collision" and the one who will do things that Danielson has never done in his career, and after he was beaten, he realized he graduated from "being hungry" to "being greedy." He says he will take and take and take because it is in his nature and it is what he does, then Danielson says he wishes Starks was a little more patient, because he was not done yet. Danielson says he saw what was in Starks' heart on that night and that he approves of that, and says that if anyone wants to be in The Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson), they have to bleed with them. Danielson is suddenly attacked by Big Bill, and Starks has to tear Big Bill off of him before Starks gets a piece of Danielson himself. Suddenly, Jon Moxley shows up and gets Big Bill in a sleeper only to be swung off and booted in the face. Starks then chokes Danielson into unconsciousness with his own shirt, and Starks then mocks Danielson before he and Big Bill leave the ring.
