Generation NXT - NXT recap for July 14, 2026

It is announced that Layla Diggs has injured herself over the weekend and that Zaria will be defending the NXT Women's North American Championship against a mystery opponent.

Lilian Garcia is the ring announcer for this week's show.

The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor and "The Smoke Show" Ricky Smokes) retains the NXT Tag Team Championships against "Super" Sean Legacy and Dorian Van Dux after Jackson Drake distracts both the ref and Dorian Van Dux so that Myka Lockwood can send Dorian Van Dux tumbling over the top rope.

Backstage, Myles Borne and Tavion Heights talk about Heights' match with Jackson Drake, and Heights entertains beating the rest of The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor and "The Smoke Show" Ricky Smokes) for the NXT tag team titles. Kam Hendrix shows up and tells Myles he should be worried about the North American Championship, then says he is 82.6% clear and that he will be seeing him soon. Myles says that is only if Mason Rook does not get to Hendrix first.

Saquon Shugars are met by OTM (Bronco Nima and Lucien Price), who refuse to team with him against DarkState (Dion Lennox, Cutler James, Osiris Griffin). All of a sudden, Birthright show up, and OTM confronts them over their recent actions. Lexis King tries to drive a wedge between OTM with Bronco being in AAA, and tells OTM to settle things between themselves and stop coming for them.

Tristan Angels is in the ring. He says that God has a strange sense of humor when he created men like Shiloh Hill, yet was so overcome with remorse that he created him as an apology. He then states that he has repossessed Shiloh's tooth so that nobody sees him as normal and everyone can see him as nothing more than "a creepy, hillbilly weirdo" who was never fit to stand across the ring from him. Tristan then says he will no longer allow Shiloh to lie to himself, then places the tooth on the ring steps and stomps on it. Shiloh shows up on the TitanTron and says that losing his teeth helped him find his mind. He says he can fix his smile, but Tristan cannot fix the fact that the fog is coming before the lights go out and fog fills the arena.

Backstage, Nattie shows up with Layla Biggs, Karmen Petrovic and Nikkita Lyons as General Manager Robert Stone speaks with Izzi Dame and Lizzy Rain. Nattie feels Nikkita should replace Layla tonight, while Izzi and Lizzy want a shot at Zaria tonight. Robert Stone makes the match for the NXT Women's North American Championship a Fatal 4-Way Match, with Zaria facing Nikkita Lyons, Izzi Dame and Lizzy Rain.

During the match, Nattie and Karmen Petrovic show up and grab Zaria as soon as Zaria is sent out of the ring. Jaida Parker shows up and brawls with Nattie to the back, and Zaria hits Karmen with a Spear. Zaria then does the same to Nikkita Lyons and follows it up with an F-5 to win and retain.

Backstage, Saquon Shugars talks with Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair about his tag team partner problem. Lola Vice shows up and tells Kendal that they are not done and that she will take the NXT Women's Championship back. Kendal tells Lola she had better win, and Lola says she will.

D'Angelo says this is a great idea, and Stone gives him an NXT Championship match for next week. D'Angelo says that is good, but not good enough, and that he is not waiting. Stone follows as D'Angelo leaves the room, asking D'Angelo what he is going to do.

Jackson Drake beats Tavion Heights with a Sunset Flip following the distraction by Brad Baylor.

We see a vignette for Reina Volcan. She says she always had a voice that demanded more. She says that nature does not ask for permission or apologize for its actions. She says she was born to destroy expectations, not meet them, and that she will bury everyone's favorites beneath the wreckage and that NXT will not survive her. Reina Volcan debuts next week.

Backstage, Noam Dar and Romeo Moreno are met by Saquon Shugars, who is still looking for tag team partners. Noam Dar tells Saquon that he is untrustworthy due to his past, and Saquon says that while he needs partners, he has no problem fighting on his own. Romeo Moreno sees this as an opportunity, and Saquon asks Noam Dar when he last backed down from a fight. Noam Dar gives in and tells Saquon that he and Moreno will team with him against DarkState (Dion Lennox, Cutler James, Osiris Griffin).

Backstage, Wren Sinclair speaks with Kendal Grey when Kali Armstrong shows up and says that she will win tonight and take the NXT Women's Championship. Kendal says that she will either pin her or tap her out and that they will find out who will win next week, then Kali Armstrong leaves. She then sees Jaida Parker looking at her, and Jaida tells her that Kelani Jordan and Lola Vice does not care about her nickname of "The Difference Maker." Kali leaves, then Jaida is attacked from behind by Nattie, Karmen Petrovic and Nikkita Lyons.

In this week's NXT Focus, we hear from Shawn Spears, who talks about his time in NXT and how he saw something in Niko Vance and Izzi Dame. He says that the truth will ultimately prevail, and that Izzi has become everything he hoped she would become and more, and that he is proud of Niko for taking a big step forward. He then says Niko took two steps back after putting him through a table, but he should have known he would come back for him, and next week, he will drag Niko into deep waters and see just how much he has learned.

Naomi heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Naomi makes it clear she does not want to hear the "You deserve it!" chants. She says that nobody knows her next move until she makes it, and that it only looked like she would be going after Tiffany Stratton and the WWE Women's Championship. She then states that she is done with the foolishness on SmackDown and that she did not betray Bianca Belair; she outgrew her, and that she and Jade didn't want her to succeed and only wanted her a friend when it was convenient for them. She says that Jade may have gotten her lick back, but she is the one who made history, and while she may be new on Raw, she strongly advises the women's locker room to proceed with caution. Suddenly, Rhea Ripley shows up and heads to the ring, and warns Naomi that she is reckless and pissed, not cautious, as she walked into Evolution to beat Iyo Sky and win back the Women's World Championship. She says that she still has those two goals and that Naomi has made it onto her list before Iyo Sky shows up and heads to the ring. Iyo declares she will take the Women's World Championship back from her, but Naomi tells Rhea and Iyo to both head to the back before General Manager Adam Pearce shows up. Lyra Valkyria beats Bayley two falls to one (2-1) in a two-out-of-three falls match to face Becky Lynch for the WWE Women's Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam. Bayley scores the first fall with a slap in the face followed by a schoolkid pin early in the match. Lyra scores the second fall following a counter into a schoolkid pin from a La Magistral Cradle. Lyra wins the third and deciding fall after Bayley pushes herself off the rope during the crossface only for Lyra to break free and hit Nightwing. We hear from Karrion Kross and Scarlett. Kross makes light of his attack on Sami Zayn, then he and Scarlett agree that Sami Zayn is a liar. Kross says Sami Zayn shows up only to fall flat on his face, then tells Sami to stay home and not to come back until he is ready to say "Kross told the truth."

Nikki Bella beats Chelsea Green after taking out The Secret Hervice (Piper Niven and Alba Fyre) before countering the Un-Pretty-Her with the Rack Attack 2.0. After the match, Piper Niven and Alba Fyre attack Nikki, and Stephanie Vaquer rushes into the ring to make the save.

Backstage, General Manager Adam Pearce meets with The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) and Grayson Waller, who try to get a World Tag Team title rematch with two toupees. After Pearce tells The New Day that they will get the opportunity to earn one and to not flip their wigs over it, he meets with The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, JD McDonagh, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, Raquel Rodriguez, Roxanne Perez) and says "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio will be re-evaluated, and if Dominik is cleared, he will have to defend the Intercontinental Championship against "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles at SummerSlam. He then says there will be an answer soon, as he will watch the gauntlet match to decide a #1 contender for SummerSlam from ringside. He then says that he does not care who wins, because all of his potential opponents will be the same. He is then quickly interrupted by Bron Breakker's entrance. Breakker and Gunther have a staredown, then Gunther and Paul Heyman shake hands. Gunther interrupts, admitting he does not care what he has to say, but runs into Breakker when he tries to leave. Heyman proclaims that Breakker will run the gauntlet and beat Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam, and declares Breakker "the next big thing" and "the big dog." He says Breakker is not just a contender, he is "a Steiner," and that he will break Gunther and become the new long-term World Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam. Breakker then steps aside and lets Gunther leave.

CM Punk beats Penta, LA Knight, "Main Event" Jey Uso and Bron Breakker in a gauntlet match to face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. During the match, Gunther is seen watching the match from the luxury box. Near the end of the match, "Big" Bronson Reed attacks Punk as he has Breakker in the Anaconda Vice, but Jey Uso returns and fights off Bronson Reed. Breakker goes for a Spear, but Punk counters with a kick and hits the GTS to eliminate Breakker, win the match and earn the title shot. After the match, Punk is attacked by Bronson Reed, but Jey Uso returns again and fights Bronson Reed. Breakker gets back in the ring and hits Jey with a Spear, then Bronson holds Punk down so Breakker can Spear Punk.
