Generation NXT - NXT recap for July 29, 2025

The show begins with a ten-bell salute and video package for Hulk Hogan. In memory of Hulk Hogan, 1953 - 2025.

Jaida Parker beats Jazmyn Nyx.

Backstage, Je'Von Evans runs into Shiloh Hill and Drake Morreaux, The High Ryze (Wes Lee, Tyson Dupont, Tyriek Igwe), and Chase University (Andre Chase, Kale Dixon, Uriah Connors) as he heads to the ring.

Je'Von Evans heads to the ring. Je'Von says that last week was crazy after The Undertaker met with him and told him to take on the biggest dog in the yard, then says he might as well do it right now. Trick Williams shows up and says "the biggest dog has finally arrived," then warns him that he should not mess with him, as they have danced before and he came out on top. Je'Von says Trick should slow down, especially after The Undertaker choke slammed him to Hell, but Trick says he is still Total Nonstop Action World Champion and the biggest thing in TNA. Je'Von tells Trick he was really talking about Oba Femi and not him, but Trick Williams says Oba Femi wishes he was him and entertains taking what he has. Je'Von warns Trick he has no problem taking him out if he gets in his way. Suddenly, The High Ryze (Wes Lee, Tyson Dupont, Tyriek Igwe) shows up, and Wes Lee says that while Je'Von will have his road to the championship, it will be long, for The High Ryze will stop him in his tracks. Je'Von says he will start tonight with Wes Lee, then punches Wes Lee in the face. The High Ryze and Trick gang up on Je'Von, then hold him down for a Kardiak Kick before Wes Lee says he will get with General Manager Ava and make the match official so he can lay Je'Von out.

Backstage, Kale Dixon and Uriah Connors are at the men's locker room with metal folding chair. They try to sneak in, but Hank Walker and Tank Ledger notice them. When they go in to attack, Hank and Tank agree to their challenge for the NXT tag team titles, stating that all they had to do was ask. Andre Chase shows up and is flabbergasted by Dixon and Connors' actions and apologizes, but Hank says he and Tank will get with General Manager Ava and make the match official.

Tavion Heights beats Charlie Dempsey. As per pre-match stipulation, Tavion Heights is now free to leave No Quarter Catch Crew, which now consists solely of Dempsey and Wren Sinclair. Both men shake hands after the match.

Backstage, Trick Williams and The High Ryze (Wes Lee, Tyson Dupont, Tyriek Igwe) meet. As Trick focuses on becoming a double champion and Wes Lee focuses on Je'Von Evans, Total Nonstop Action Director of Authority Santino Marella shows up and mentions his match with "All Ego" Ethan Page before telling Trick not to be too comfortable with the TNA World Championship, as it will be coming home soon.

Blake Monroe heads to the ring. Blake says that Jordynne Grace is not a superstar and is more of a background player, or as some would say, an extra. Blake continues to mock Jordynne through older pictures of her and claims that Jordynne sees "gym membership material" when she looks in a mirror. She then states that she considers herself "star power" and what to build a brand around, and that WWE knew about her before she started wrestling, and that when one looks as good as her, one does not need to change a thing. All of a sudden, Lola Vice shows up and says that while Blake is beautiful on the outside, she is ugly on the outside, then says that Blake Monroe will not be champion of the NXT women's division. As Lola says she knows how to make viral moments, Jaida Parker shows up and says she does not need anybody to make any kind of noise and that she is chasing championships and not clout. As Blake mocks both Lola and Jaida, Jordynne Grace's music hits, but Kelani Jordan shows up instead and says that she is the future and dares Blake to face her in a match, saying that on her best day, she cannot do it like her. Blake states that Kelani finally has a personality and threatens to put her in a medical facility with Jordynne Grace before headbutting her. This starts a brawl, and Lola and Kelani come out on top before Jaida shoves Blake away from her on the outside.

Backstage, Tatum Paxley tells Izzi Dame that she wants to challenge Sol Ruca after winning the biggest match of her career. Izzi says Tatum has to pin the champ first like she did, then Shawn Spears and Niko Vance show up and tell Tatum that she has her Women's North American Championship match. Izzi says that the three of them will be on hand to make sure that Tatum wins the title. Meanwhile, Luca Crusifino has been watching from a distance, and he says "No family lasts forever."

We hear from Lash Legend, who brags about her accomplishments in the Evolution Battle Royal before stating that she will soon have a clear path to the NXT Women's Championship.

Fallon Henley beats Lash Legend after Legend fends off Fatal Influence (Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley, Jazmyn Nyx) only to be attacked from behind by Nia Jax. After the match, Nia Jax attacks Lash Legend and hits the A-Nia-Lator.

Backstage, Yoshiki Inamura aggressively confronts Josh Briggs, and both of them have to be held back. Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo tells Yoshiki that family and honor do not exist in the business and that everyone eventually betrays you. Inamura slaps Stacks and tells him he will show him honor next week.

Je'Von Evans beats Wes Lee in a match that also sees interference from Tyson DuPont and Tyriek Igwe. After the match, Oba Femi is on the balcony as Trick Williams is on the outside.

Backstage, Vic Joseph interviews Myles Borne. Myles talks about how he was born deaf and how he almost died soon after he was born, how he had to learn to read lips and how he has learned to block the hate out with people like Lexis King.

As General Manager Ava gets injury updates from Robert Stone and Stevie Turner - Ricky Starks will be back in no time following a bruised sternum, while Jordynne Grace has avoided serious spinal injuries - Lexis King shows up and says Myles Borne is not really deaf and is being "a con man," saying that if Myles is deaf, then he is blind as a bat. Lexis gets a match against Myles Borne next week, and Lexis says he looks forward to proving that Myles is a fraud in the ring as much as he is out of it.

In backstage footage from during the break, Nia Jax shows up as Fatal Influence argue to brag that Lash Legend got dropped and does not measure up.

"All Ego" Ethan Page retains the NXT North American Championship agianst Santino Marella after using the referee as a human shield against the Cobra before thumbing Santino in the eyes and hitting Twisted Grin to win and retain.

The show ends with Tony D'Angelo at his home. As he prepares to eat, he is approached by someone.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for July 29, 2024

Seth "Freakin'" Rollins heads to the ring dressed in custom referee gear to start tonight's show. Rollins says he is here to lay out some rules and regulations for Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk at SummerSlam. CM Punk shows up first, followed by McIntyre. Rollins reminds both men that they are not to lay a finger on each other before SummerSlam or else their match is off, and if they lay a finger on him tonight, it will also cause the match to be off. CM Punk rolls out of the ring, and McIntyre tells him to get back in. Punk says he is not scared or worried about what McIntyre or Rollins will do, but what he will do, and is taking himself out of the situation. Rollins sees this as Punk trying to get his way and tells him that this is not how things are going to work, and that he volunteered to be special guest referee because they scared off all the other officials, and that he can give up his position and call off the match. Rollins then says he wants this fight, as does McIntyre and the rest of the fans, and if Punk wants this fight, then he will get back into the ring. Punk gets back in the ring, telling Rollins to enjoy this while he can. McIntyre says that he and Rollins may not see eye-to-eye, but at least their rivalry is a professional one, and that Punk is a corporate ass-kisser and "the real enemy" while he and Rollins are real workhorses. Rollins agrees that he hates Punk as much as McIntyre does, but tells McIntyre that if anyone hates him as much as Punk, it is also him. Rollins then says there is only one rule and regulation and that they will listen to everything he has to say, as he calls the shots and he is the law, and if either man gets out of line, he will put their head in the dirt. Punk tells Rollins that he hopes that he can referee and hopes he calls it down the middle, and warns him that if he screws him, he will deal with him in the back. He also tells Punk that he does not want his help in the match, but McIntyre tells Punk he should be worrying about him. McIntyre tells Punk that he hates him and cannot go anywhere without hearing about him, and that he has said everything he has wanted to say about him. He says the bell is Punk's enemy, for when it rings, he will destroy him. He also hopes that Rollins has compassion in the match, as he will not stop until Punk's heart does and he will be paid handsomely to do something he would willingly do for free. Punk says he absent from WWE for ten years and the fans still chanted his name, and that McIntyre is the third wheel in their match at SummerSlam and that both he and Rollins get to be in his orbit and breathe the same air he does. He hopes that McIntyre enjoyed the last six months of his career, for they were the best six months he had and that he ruined it when he hurt him. He also says that McIntyre "dumbed" himself out of his position because he is his own enemy and a worse one than Punk. Punk then says that he has heart, unlike McIntyre, and that he has the fans chanting his name while he has nothing. McIntyre flashes Punk's necklace, and Rollins laughs at McIntyre dares Punk to take it from him.

Backstage, The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, Rhea Ripley, JD McDonagh) and Carlito find their clubhouse vandalized, and Rhea chalks it up to Liv Morgan getting revenge after last week, stating Liv has stepped over the line one too many times.

Backstage, Damian Priest catches up with The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, Rhea Ripley, JD McDonagh) and Carlito in the vandalized clubhouse. Finn Balor tells Gunther that he insulted everyone in the group when he insulted him, and that he will bust up Gunther. Meanwhile, Carlito prepares to deal with Sami Zayn.

The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) beat Alpha Academy (Otis and Akira Tozawa). After the match, The Creed Brothers hold down Otis so that Chad Gable can punch him and put him in the ankle lock. Maxxine Dupri gets on top of Gable, but Gable shrugs him and chews her out. Maxxine replies with a slap to the face. When Maxxine dares Gable to fight her, the lights start going out, and Otis, Maxxine and Tozawa all get out dodge while Gable and The Creed Brothers stay in the ring. "Huskus," "Rabbit" and "Mercy" of The Wyatt Sicks appear and head towards the ring before unmasking. They happen to be Joe Gacy, Erick Rowan and Dexter Lumis, respectively. Gable runs away only for "Abbie" - who is Nikki Cross - to hit him with a cross body. The Wyatt Sicks then lay waste to The Creed Brothers. Chad Gable escapes, but he is soon approached by Uncle Howdy, and he runs away.

Backstage, Carlito tells "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio that he has Sami Zayn, even thought Carlito is supposed to deal with Sami. Dominik tells Carlito that since he is free, he can handle "Main Event" Jey Uso, and Rhea tells Carlito he will deal with Jey alone.

"Big" Bronson Reed beats Sheamus after Pete Dunne shows up and hits Sheamus with a shillelagh.

Backstage, we hear from Damian Priest, who says that his upbringing is being brought up by Gunther, who has no idea of how he grew up when he was handed everything and surrounded by people telling him how great he was. He says that Gunther has never handed the World Heavyweight Championship and that Gunther is an asshole, and that the ring that was an escape from the streets will become the streets when he beats him to retain the World Heavyweight Championship. Priest says he has fought for everything he has earned and that he is now willing to die for everything he has got.

We hear from Bron Breakker, who says he is not here to talk down on Sami Zayn, as he does not even dislike him. He says Sami is at the top of his game in stand-up comedy and yet he did not take him seriously. He says that Sami has accepted the fact that he is going to lose at SummerSlam as he is looking forward to a life after him and after WWE, and while Sami has been telling jokes in preparation, he has been training like a dog. Breakker says that the joke is on Sami and that the Intercontinental Championship will be on him.

"Main Event" Jey Uso beats Carlito after Carlito takes several bites out of his apple (and has some of the apple himself).

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Zelina Vega. Zelina says her right arm feels ago and that she knows she was lucky to have Kayden Carter, Katana Chance and Lyra Valkyria in her corner and that Zoey Stark had to stack the deck against her. As Zelina says that Zoey, "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler and Sonya Deville know she is a threat, Zoey, Shayna and Sonya surround her and gang up on her before Shayna kicks at the injured right arm. Officials soon step in.

Zelina Vega is tended to backstage in the trainer's room.

Backstage, The Miz announces that he will be hosting SummerSlam this year in his house of Cleveland, Ohio, then R-Truth shows up thinking In Your House is bringing brought back before asking The Miz how he is going to host the whole show from his house. R-Truth wants to know if he should bring hors d'oeuvres or a bag of ice or any party favors, and The Miz says no before eventually declaring he will provide the hor d'oeuvres.

We see footage and photos of WWE on tour in Japan.

Before the next match, Karrion Kross mentions Kofi Kingston re-injuring his shoulder on the Japan tour and that it is only a cop-out for Kofi to skip town because the spotlight is on Xavier Woods instead of him and only because nobody wants to be in tonight's town. Karrion Kross then offers Woods a chance to join The Final Testament, tell the kids that the power of positivity is one big lie, and tell "that one-armed bastard" Kofi Kingston that he should have retired after losing the WWE Championship in six seconds. Woods punches him.

Karrion Kross beats Xavier Woods after dodging the Limit Break elbow.

We see footage of WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque talking with Jesse "The Body" Ventura backstage.

Backstage, Jackie Redmond interviews Sami Zayn. Sami says that he did a comedy show before his last match with Bron Breakker and still won, and that Breakker thought it was a foregone conclusion that he would win and did not take him seriously. He says that Breakker has hit cheap shots week after week because of this, and while Breakker's attitude is different, so is his, and now it is just about beating Bron Breakker's ass. As far as "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio goes, he will handle that business right now.

We hear from Liv Morgan, who says that she would have done anything for "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, then says he is not a man and just "Rhea [Ripley]'s little bitch." She says she wishes that she could take back every tear she cried for him, but now, he will make Rhea's life a living hell and beat Rhea before leaving Dominik with whatever is left while she is still Women's World Champion.

Sami Zayn beats "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio by disqualification. During the match, JD McDonagh and Carlito show up and distract Sami, nearly costing him in the match. The match is over when JD McDonagh gets in the ring and breaks up a pinfall attempt by Sami Zayn. After the match, McDonagh and Carlito attack Sami, then "Main Event" Jey Uso shows up and send them and Dominik out of the ring before hitting them all with a dive over the top rope. Afterwards, Sami is attacked from behind by Bron Breakker, who then goes for a Spear only to be booted in the face, hit with an Exploder Suplex into the corner, and nearly hit with a Helluva Kick before rolling out of the ring. When Sami turns his back on Breakker, Breakker tries to ambush him again, but Sami turns around and clotheslines him out of the ring.

We see another Wyatt Sicks video, this time with Dexter Lumis, who is almost unrecognizable. When asked what he will do when the buzzards start circling, Dexter simply says "Run."

Backstage, Chad Gable tells General Manager Adam Pearce about Joe Gacy, Erick Rowan and Dexter Lumis being under masks earlier before wanting a six-man tag match against him and The Creed Brothers. Pearce makes the match official, but tells Gable to be careful what he wishes for after he leaves.

We hear from Rhea Ripley, who says that if Liv Morgan wants to break and burn things that do not belong to her and pretend to be the victim in her "revenge fantasy," then her revenge tour will come to an end. Rhea says she will make Liv pay after taking her title, three months of her career as well as "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio and that she will get her own revenge.

Zoey Stark, "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler and Sonya Deville beat Lyra Valkyria, Katana Chance and Kayden Carter in a six-woman tag match. After the match, Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, Kairi Sane) shows up and brawls with Zoey, Shayna and Sonya, quickly cleaning house and forcing them out of the ring. Iyo Sky hits all three of them with Over The Moonsault on the outside.

In footage from an empty arena from earlier today, Gunther says he gave Damian Priest an easy way out, but Priest revealed he has no control over his own emotions. He calls Priest "an emotional wanna-be" who uses the business to get over his childhood trauma. He says that he used to look up to Finn Balor and considered him a world-class weirdo until Balor became "street trash" when he joined The Judgment Day. He then tells Priest that he will never forgive Priest for using the business to cover up for his pathetic existence, and after SummerSlam, Priest and everyone else will remember SummerSlam as the day he saved professional wrestling and the World Heavyweight Championship.

Backstage, Cathy Kelley interviews Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, Kairi Sane). Dakota Kai says Zoey Stark, "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler and Sonya Deville have been running the place is because they have been gone, and now that they are back, it is time to re-establish order. She then challenges Sonya Deville to a match next week to see how long their group lasts after she cuts the head off the snake.

Backstage, Finn Balor says The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio, JD McDonagh) and Carlito will wait until SummerSlam to get out of the mess that they have gotten themselves into. Rhea agrees, and says that The Judgment Day has Finn's back, but Finn says he is doing this himself. Rhea and Damian agree, with Damian saying Gunther is their main problem and having faith that Finn Balor will soften Gunther up.

Gunther beats Finn Balor with the sleeper. After the match, Gunther puts Finn Balor back into the sleeper, and Damian Priest soon runs into the ring to brawl with Gunther. The brawl soon makes its way outside as the show ends.

Christian says Darby is ready for a match for the TNT Championship, but says he has a distraction in AR Fox and that he cannot be distracted, especially when the TNT title is more prestigious than ever. Tony Schiavone interviews CM Punk in the ring. Punk says there has been a lot going on in AEW, especially on Collision, that nobody wants to meet head-on. While he does not know if he will be wrestling at All In in Wembley Stadium in London, he does know that "Absolute" Ricky Starks has beaten him twice. He admits that he has been disappointed by how Ricky Starks has beaten him out of late and has confused his kindness for weakness even after having to cheat to beat him twice, then says that he has been left holding the bag. He then says that the truth does not care if one is right or wrong and that he is the champion as he pulls an AEW World Championship belt out of his bag and states that he has never been beaten for the belt that still has his blood on it from last September. Punk then spray paints a big black X on the center plate of the championship belt, stating the X has defined him and the foundation he has built his career on since 1997, then says he is straight edge and "better than you." He says that the belt is staying with him and on Collision, then states that he is "the real World's Champion." Ricky Starks then shows up, demands an entrance, then comes out to his entrance theme and says that while this was a great story Punk told, he is low on gold right now and that Punk would have beaten him the same way he beat him. He then says that he wants Punk's World Championship after having beaten him twice and becoming the face of Collision, for whatever Punk has is his. Punk asks Ricky if he is the face of Collision or the face of cheating, but Ricky says Stevie Wonder could be the referee and he would still beat him. Punk then says it sounds like Ricky Starks wants a title shot, which leads to "Take his title!" and "CM Punk!" chants, then says that if he were to wrestle Ricky again, he will need some extra eyes around here. Ricky says it does not care who Punk brings, because if he beat Punk once, he can do it twice. Punk says he anticipated this and made some phone calls, and that there will be a special guest referee who is someone from his past. Punk then asks if Ricky wants a shot at his title, to which Ricky states that he absolutely wants it. Both men shake hands, then Punk has Tony Schiavone tell Ricky that the special guest referee is Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat.

Reverend Ash Taylor says he is sick and tired of being sick and tired of Ray Collins, and next week, "Righteous" Ryan Rembrandt will put him down and Ray Collins will get down on his knees and beg for forgiveness.

We see footage from after last week's show where "The Pope" Elijah Burke admits he did not know much about Ray Collins until he came to him and told him what The Righteous Path was like and that he would have his back if he allowed it. The Pope says he is used to doing things the right way and doing things the wrong way, then says that tonight, they went "All the way, Ray." This leads to an "All The Way Ray" chant as Ray Collins says Reverend Ash Taylor should have killed him when he had the chance and that he is coming after The Righteous Path.

Cassandra Golden beats Bashley Bones.

We hear from Dr. Tom Prichard, who says that nobody really knows what Memphis Wrestling was like back in the day until one shows up at the WrestleCenter and sees the present. As he talks about being a professional wrestling coach, "The Best of the Best" Austin Lane and "Smokin' Hot" Nikki Lane show up, and Austin Lane declares that he is Memphis Wrestling and that guys like Dr. Tom cannot teach him because he is better than Dr. Tom ever was. When Dr. Tom says he does not want problems, Tim Bosby suddenly steps up to Austin Lane, and Nikki has to hold Austin back. Austin says they will do this on his time.

We hear from Mississippi St. Jude ambassador Murray Collum, who talks about the recent show in New Albany, Mississippi as well as a few local cancer survivors, including his wife, as part of the Rumble on the Trail St. Jude fundraiser on August 19th at Pontotoc, Mississippi.

Mr. Chris beats Tim Grind. During the match, as Tim Grind has Mr. Chris in a chinlock and is getting the information of Lance McCade's whereabouts out of him, Simon shows up with Lance - who is in facepaint - and threatens to break Lance's neck unless Tim Grind lays down for Mr. Chris. Tim Grind reluctantly lays down for Mr. Chris, who gets the win, and Simon lets Lance go as promised. As Tim and Lance are reunited in the ring and Tim Grind calls out The Posse (Simon and Mr. Chris) again, Lance takes off his blue hoodie to reveal a Posse shirt underneath and hits Tim Grind from behind with a low blow. The Posse attack Tim Grind as the show ends.

She also says it is not a smart idea for Toni Storm to be close to "the carny" who has everything that she wants most, then says she will leave everything between Thunder Rosa and Toni Storm.

Tony Schiavone interviews Claudio Castagnoli and William Regal in the ring. Claudio thanks the fans for all their support, as there have been many times that he doubted himself and never thought he would reach the top, and that it is an honor to stand as ROH World Champion. He promises that this is only the beginning, then brings out Wheeler Yuta, whom he congratulates for retaining the ROH Pure Championship. Suddenly, Chris Jericho leaves the commentary table and shows his disgust towards Claudio and Yuta, then says Claudio deserves his boot straight up his ass. Yuta tells Jericho to shut up and that he retained against Daniel Garcia last week, then says he is sure he can beat Jericho. Jericho tells Yuta he cannot ever beat him, but Yuta says that Jericho knows he can beat him. Claudio and William Regal are also convinced that Yuta can beat Jericho, as Yuta repeatedly says he can beat Jericho, which gets under Jericho's skin and causes Jericho to challenge Yuta for next week's Dynamite. Yuta says "Nah," then Jericho and Yuta quickly go back and forth until Jericho says he will put his title match against Jon Moxley on the line in that match, and if Yuta wins, he gets the title shot. Yuta says "Well, guys...that was easier than I thought," then accepts the challenge.

Ruby Soho says that Anna Jay reminds her of herself but then calls her one of those "entitled little shits" who thinks they know everything, then says that one is only as good as the company that they keep and suggests that she leaves Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti in the back and face her one-on-one. Anna Jay says that Ruby does not know here and that she knows a dark side from Brodie Lee and is learning another from Chris Jericho, then says that she will choke Ruby Soho out.

(Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) then go after The Usos, turning this into a multi-man brouhaha. Cedric Alexander is then seen on the minitron, where he takes out everybody else from above. McIntyre gets Cedric in the ring for a Claymore, but Cedric stops it with a drop kick. The O.C. knock Cedric off the top rope and almost hit him with Magic Killer, but Roman takes them and McIntyre out with Superman Punches. After a pair of kicks to Joe from The Usos, Roman hits Joe with a Spear before he, The Usos and Cedric stand tall in the ring to end the show.
