Final Impact - Impact Wrestling recap for August 18, 2021

Tasha Steelz beats Havok after Savannah Evans on BTI boots Rosemary in the face on the ring apron.

Josh Mathews and Gia Miller are in the ring to start tonight's show. As they talk about how Christian Cage has won the Impact World Championship, W. Morrissey and Eddie Edwards brawl their way into the ring. As W. Morrissey goes for a powerbomb on Eddie Edwards in the ring, Sami Callihan jumps in, and Eddie saves him from Morrissey. Both Sami and Eddie almost come to blows, but Eddie knocks Morrissey out of the ring just in time for security to show up and hold Morrissey back. Eddie tells Sami he didn't need his help, then Sami grabs the microphone and says he wants his match started right now.

Sami Callihan and Chris Sabin beat "Inevitable" Ace Austin and Moose after Sabin tags himself in to hit Austin with Cradle Shock. After the match, Sami raises Sabin's hand, then spikes him with a piledriver for stealing his moment.

We see footage from last Saturday's NJPW Resurgence, where The Good Brothers ("The Big LG" Doc Gallows and "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson) retain the Impact World Tag Team Championships against Jon Moxley and Yuji Nagata only to walk away when The Guerrillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa) show up. We then hear from The Good Brothers, who brag about their victory at Resurgence before the two of them tell The Guerrillas of Destiny that getting in their faces is not worth it before Gallows calls tonight's match with Joe Doering "an appetizer." Gallows then blames Violent By Design (Eric Young, Joe Doering, Deaner, Rhyno) for making tomorrow night's tag team title match at Emergence a three-way match.

Backstage, we hear from Sami Callihan, who says Chris Sabin poked him one too many times and made himself fair game just like in tomorrow night's World Championship #1 contender's match. He then says he made good on his promise of taking a piece of Kenny Omega until the Impact World Championship was off Omega's waist, then Eddie Edwards says that he does not need his help just because they teamed together one time. Sami says that he is not a team player and that he has things to attend to.

Matt Cardona beats Shera after Chelsea Green stops Rohit Raju's distraction attempt.

The Impact Plus Flashback Moment of the week is Christian Cage beating Jeff Jarrett for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on Feb 13, 2006.

It's time for Locker Room Talk. Tonight's guest is Tennille Dashwood after Johnny Swinger mentions Swinger's Palace. We find out that Tennille Dashwood is on the set of All About Me, and that Madison Rayne is the guest for tonight's show. Tennille says that she allied herself with Madison because she and Kaleb have been looking for a partner, and while it happened a year ago and it did not work out, Tennille thinks it can work out now. It is mentioned that Madison Rayne was Tenille's first tag team partner, and Tennille notes that this situation has gone full circle before saying that her range and Madison's experience make them "the influence." Kaleb and Swinger then have an argument after Kaleb states they don't have to take crap from Scott D'amore anymore.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander. Alexander says he intends to be the face of the company going forward, and while Christian Cage may be the new Impact World Champion and became a legend here, he will not be carrying the Impact banner as Jake Something shows up. Alexander says he is not concerned about how big and strong he is, and Jake Something says he will give a reason to be concerned and pay attention by approaching Kaleb and Scott D'Amore as they argue, wanting a match. Kaleb, saying he is medically cleared even though he isn't, is wanting a match, and D'Amore puts Kaleb in a match with Jake Something and makes it a no-disqualification match, much to the horror of Kaleb.

Christian Cage heads to the ring. He says it is good to be back in the Impact Zone after nine long years as Impact World Champion, and even though he wrestles for AEW, it was an honor to take the championship from Kenny Omega and bring them back where it belongs. He talks about how he left WWE in 2005 and took a chance on himself, which lead to Impact taking a chance on him and allowing him to up his stock and compete in the main event for championships, which is all he ever wanted. Christian says this is surreal for him, and he thanks the fans, who chant "You deserve it!" He says that talking about history in Impact has made him realize that this is not about his history anymore and that he had some talks with Scott D'Amore, and as much as the TNA World title means to him, he says it is time to retire it. He says that it is about the future, and that the Impact World Championship represents that future, which means a lot for the locker room. He then says the Impact World Championship will be the biggest prize in the company. Christian then says that the TNA World Heavyweight Championship's lineage will be emblazoned in his and Impact's souls forever, then hands the title off and relinquishes it once and for all. As Christian gets down to business, Brian Myers and Sam Beale show up. Beale carries a notebook with "Christian Not My Champ" written on it as Myers states he is the #1 contender and that he has killed it on Impact for the past year. Myers proclaims that the Impact World Championship belongs to him tomorrow night, and Christian tells Myers it took him long enough to get out of Matt Cardona's shadow before mocking him and Beale. Myers proclaims that the Impact World Championship belongs to him tomorrow night, and Christian tells Myers it took him long enough to get out of Matt Cardona's shadow before mocking him and Beale. He goes on to say that while Myers is the most professional wrestler, he is the best professional wrestler. This leads to a staredown between Myers and Christian. Myers fails to cheap shot Christian with Sam Beale, who gets rocked with a right by Christian.

Melina meets Trey Miguel backstage.

We see an advertisement for NWA Empowerrr and NWA 73.

We see footage from last Saturday's Triplemania, where Deonna Purrazzo faced and beat Faby Apache to become the AAA Reina de Reinas Champion.

Melina beats Brandi Lauren (who has performed in Impact Wrestling in the past as Ava Storie) with the California Dream. After the match, Melina is attacked from behind by Deonna Purrazzo, and Matthew Rehwoldt jumps in to hold Melina down before Trey Miguel runs in and fights Rehwoldt. Afterwards, Deonna threatens to "slap the shit" out of Trey before Melina hits her with a Lou Thesz press and throws her out of the ring.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews John Skyler, who says there is nothing shocking about last week's win and that he was the guy who hit the final blow before it is revealed that Juice Robinson has been attacked while David Finlay tries to get some help.

We hear from Jordynne Grace, who talks about her recent powerlifting meet. She credits Rachael Ellering being there as part of her win, and Ellering says she cannot wait to see what Jordynne does next. Jordynne states that after setting state records, she plans to break national records in November.

Jake Something beats Kaleb Konley in a no-disqualification after putting Kaleb through a table. After the match, Josh Alexander shows up and has a staredown with Jake Something.

Kimber Lee tells Su Yung says she has collected the first soul, but not the last, as she hands Su Yung some of Kiera Hogan's hair.

Joe Doering beats "The Big LG" Doc Gallows. During the match, Gallows choke bombs Doering through the side of the stage. Security, medics and referees have to help both men out of the crater made in the stage. Gallows is helped out first, and he crawls to the ring. When Doering gets out, it is under his own power, and he also goes back to the ring. Doering gets the win after clotheslining Gallows out of the air.

We see another vignette for "The Drama King," this one involving drama masks.

Callis also congratulates The Good Brothers on their victory tonight, and says that after delivering some of the best buyrates, Omega should be given some respect, but instead, he has to defend the Impact World title at Emergence. He mentions the #1 contender's battle royal for the Impact World title, then says that Tommy Dreamer will not work Omega to the bone. Suddenly, Sami Callihan shows up. Callihan says he will jump off a cliff if he has to listen to Callis and Omega again, then says they are "a bunch of bitches" and says Omega should be lucky he did not beat him to death at Slammiversary. He says that Slammiversary was just the beginning and that he is not done, and that he will win the battle royal to give Omega another date with the Death Machine. Morrissey has made it known that nobody cares for him and that he has nobody to care for, and that he came to Impact to rethink his career. He says that he has had it worse and that he had Morrissey beat in the parking lot, and that he will take whatever Morrissey has in their hardcore match at Homecoming. Suddenly, Tommy Dreamer shows up and asks Eddie Edwards to tag with Frankie Kazarian and Sami Callihan against The Good Brothers ("The Big LG" Doc Gallows and "Machine Gun" Karl Anderson) and Kenny Omega. Tommy Dreamer talks about a time where he had to face his best friend to take the world title home and that he would not put Eddie in a situation he would not put himself in, and says that if Callihan turns on him, he will be the first person to beat him up. Eddie, telling Dreamer that he trusts him with his life, agrees to tag with Callihan and Kazarian.

When he had Lashley beat at Bound For Glory, they jumped in a third time. He now believes that Lashley can't beat him one-on-one, and says he should change his nickname from "Walking Armageddon" to "Bitch Boy Bobby." Lambert says he cannot figure out why professional wrestling chose to pick a fight with MMA, and he will never figure out why American Top Team was singled out. Storm says he wants Lambert one-on-one so he can kick the shit out of him. Lambert says if he wants to prove himself against other sport, he should go down the street and slap the Ottawa Senators. He then says he had to stand on the ramp a few weeks ago and hear him go on and on about his love for pro wrestling and the fans as well as how he puts his body on thel ine and how he lives for the fans. He says it make sit want to puke, but he now sees this as an opportunity. He notes that Storm has been in the company since day one and has shown considerable staying power, and says this makes Storm the face of Impact Wrestling, which in turn makes him "the head of the snake." If he can cut the head, then Impact Wrestling can "no longer sell its snake oil." He says that if he wants to face him, he must put his career on the line, and if he loses, he has to leave Impact forever. Storm tells Dan Lambert he has a deal, but after he kicks his ass, he, Lashley and the rest of American Top Team can get out of his company. He then says the only thing he will hear for the rest of his life is "Sorry about your damn luck." Before he can finish that statement, however, Lambert spits in his face, and Lashley hits Moose with a cheap shot. As Lambert directs traffic, Storm threatens to hit him with the Last Call Superkick. Konnan wants a tag team title match. Callihan accepts, but on the condition that if the Latin-American Xchange loses, they have to leave Impact. Konnan tells him that if he reneges on this deal, he will screw up his entire life and those of everyone he knows and he will be so toxic that they would work with very trashy celebrities before they ever work with him again. He then tells him this is business, not personal. They shake hands, then Callihan throws a fireball at Konnan's eyes, blinding him. Callihan then tells him "Now it's personal, bitch!"

Eli Drake retains the GFW Global Championship against Matt Sydal. During the match, Chris Adonis places the GFW Global Championship on the apron, then places a steel chair inside the ring. This distracts the referee, allowing Drake to attempt to hit Sydal in the face with the Global title only to fall victim to a knee. After a near-fall, Sydal goes up top again, but when Chris Adonis gets on the apron, Sydal hits him instead of going for the top rope Shooting Star Press on Eli Drake as originally planned. This last-second deviation causes the ref to be pre-occupied on checking on Chris Adonis, and Eli Drake tries to use the Global title as a weapon behind the referee's back again, this time successfully.

Cody shows up, looking for Moose again. Jeremy Borash tells Cody that Moose is in Japan, but Cody calls JB a "stooge." He then tosses the GFW NEX*GEN Championship into the ring and waits for Moose for a few seconds after being confronted by security, then leaves.

"Dirty" Dutch Mantel shows up. He almost introduces himself as Zeb Colter, then says that was his name in an alternate universe and introduces himself as Dutch Mantell. He says he earned the nickname "Dirty" the hard way by going all over the world and facing everyone he could. He says that he was called up much like Bruce Prichard to help make Impact great. He was here eight years ago, when AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, Kurt Angle, Sting and a litany of popular names were here. As time passed, all of them - and Dutch - left due to a lack of leadership, vision and respect. He says the fans, however, have never left. Dutch then says he's back and he's here to listen to the fans, as the fans are the ones that make Impact great.

Jeff Hardy faces the kangaroo which houses the spirit of "Smokin'" Joe Frazier. He and "Broken" Matt Hardy then head to their next destination in their expedition of gold. As they do, however, Decay (Rosemary, Crazzy Steve, Abyss) shows up at the arena and pick up the TNA World Tag Team Championships from off the ground, thanking them - and Vanguard-1 - for the gold.

Jeremy Borash announces that on July 2nd, 2017, Slammiversary XV will be live on pay-per-view!

Alberto El Patron beats Lashley to win the TNA World Heavyweight Championship - refereed to on-air as the Impact Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship - after using the title as a weapon. During the match, Ethan Carter III shows up to watch the match from the stage. After the match, Lashley almost beats up one of the two referees, and Alberto El Patron declares himself the new World Heavyweight Championship.

After Impact went off the air, Lashley is in disbelief, and Bruce Prichard tells Alberto El Patron that he did not win the title against Lashley cleanly and that he can win the World Championship that way. Alberto El Patron doesn't care, saying he's the champion regardless.
