Rhea Ripley and "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio head to the ring to start tonight's show. Rhea boasts about Dominik winning the NXT North American Championship last week, and Dominik says he has made the Mysterio name relevant. The crowd chants "Cut the mullet!" at Dominik, and as Rhea tells Lyra Valkyria that it is courageous to step in the ring and face her, Wes Lee shows up and says he hates the North American title in Dominik's hands. He says that for 269 days, the title stood for hard work and opportunity and made him into a better athlete, as he put his heart and soul into the title, and he demands a rematch. Rhea states that NXT needs a new North American Champion, and Wes Lee agrees that NXT needs a North American Champion tonight. Mustafa Ali shows up and says he has love and respect for Wes Lee, but none for Dominik. He says that Dominik stole the North American Championship from him like he steals both of his father's signature moves before stating that Wes lee dropped the ball last week. Wes Lee stops Mustafa and says he is angry that Dominik cut in line and Wes Lee let him. Wes Lee smacks the microphone out of Mustafa's hand, and Dominik says he does not care who he faces at The Great American Bash because Rhea says he can beat both of them. Dom then shoves Mustafa out of his way, and Mustafa tries to strike him only to hit Wes Lee. Wes Lee and Mustafa Ali brawl while Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio laugh.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Tony D'Angelo and Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo. D'Angelo says he loved the reception for his return, and Stacks looks forward to winning the NXT Tag Team Championships. We hear from Tiffany Stratton, who says that when a superstar is born, nobody sleeps on it. She says that nobody needs to learn classes for it, and that she is "it." She says she is the epitome of what a women's champion is as she puts in the work more and looks better than everyone else, and she says that she did not reach her first premium live event to have everything taken away from her by Thea Hail. Tiffany says Thea is a living energy drink who can run from here to Texas. She says that she did not tap out at Gold Rush and that the referee did not happen, and that she has given Thea Hail the rematch she and the fans wanted out of the goodness of her heart. Corbin advises him to go back to back to either college or the Olympics. He wants Gable not to come to NXT, for if he does, he will do something he has never done before: fail. He says that the ropes will show him who he is, then talks about how he toed the company line for eight years before he stopped caring. Corbin says Gable is swimming with sharks and that he is a great white who is hungry for blood. Gable tells Corbin he made his decision much easier, and challenges Corbin to his first-ever match at The Great American Match before slamming him around the ring. Corbin is stopped by security when he tries to get back into the ring.

Nathan Frazer and Dragno Lee show up, with Frazer holding the Heritage Cup. Noam Dar says he never lost the Heritage Cup, but Frazer calls Noam "a massive fraud" while Noam calls Frazer's cup "counterfeit." Frazer challenges Noam Dar, now that Noam is no longer injured, then Oro Mensah mentions that there are four of them against just Frazer and Dragon Lee. Dragon Lee say they did not come alone, and Valentina Feroz and Yulisa Leon attack Lash and Jakara from behind. Dragunov shows up, and this starts a brawl. Dragonuv gets the upper hand, but Trick grabs him by the ankle, and Dragunov responds with a diving forearm to the jaw before followed by a running diving forearm from the corner. Dragunov gets Trick in the corner and goes for the Torpedo Moscow, but Carmelo Hayes gets in the ring and takes the bullet for Trick Williams. Dragunov tells Carmelo he is a man of honor and says loyalty is very rare nowadays, then tells him to keep his friendship with Trick, for it will be all that he has left after he takes his NXT Championship.

She says that Nikkita Lyons tried to console her afterwards, but Nikkita saw that as being seen as the weak link. She says that after she came back, she carried Nikkita Lyons on her back, but all she got was "endless apologies instead of endless results," and when she held the women's tag team titles, she knew what she needed to: get rid of Nikkita. Zoey says she tried her hardest to help Nikkita and the new athletes, but the more time she gave, the more they clung and leeched off her. She says she is done of being part of the solution and is now a huge part of the problem. She says she did not get famous posing on the beach or dancing on social media; she says she got famous busting her ass in the ring. She also tells the fans who are cheering her own and nodding in agreement "Screw you," as they all happen to be fans of Nikkita Lyons. Zoey says NXT is no longer about the future; it is about her, for she is undeniable and she is the hunter while everyone else is the prey.

Trick Williams says Wes Lee is good, but Carmelo is better, and that it will be Wes Lee's first and last title defense. When asked what he is wiling to do to remain champion, Wes Lee says he worked hard and took the hand he was dealt to get where he is. He also says that he needs a shower after looking at JD McDonagh. McDonagh says that Owens can call him whatever he wants because he will be called NXT Champion, then says that he has been on his best behavior while Dragunov and Bron Breakker have put their hands on each other and arguing over who is stronger. After McDonagh says that he is aiming for the NXT title, Ilja Dragunov says that while he was aiming for him, hitting Bron Breakker was not a mistake because he left his gasping for air and made him mortal as he exposed a chink in his armor. He says that the bullet was meant for him at Worlds Collide, and at Halloween Havoc, he will take the title that should have been his in the first place. Breakker says it will be over his dead body, and while he felt that Torpedo Moscow, nothing was able to keep Dragunov down until he Speared him. He says it is unfortunate he had to vacate the NXT UK Championship, but as long as he breathes, the title is his. Owens says he appreciates the intensity between Breakker and Dragunov, but he also sees what is going on and that McDonagh is trying to get to the point where they tear each other apart so he can waltz in and easily win the title. He says they cannot let that happen, as nobody - not even McDonagh's mother, whom Owens says is creeped out by him - wants McDonagh as NXT Champion. McDonagh says he need no one's approval or a friend, and that it takes one Devil Inside for him to take the title. He then says that while Dragunov drove him out of NXT UK, Dragunov will never recover from the mental anguish of him taking the title. Dragunov says that no matter where they are, McDonagh will always be a contender but never a champion, but Breakker tells Dragunov that he will make the same thing true about him. Dragunov reminds Breakker that he lost the last Triple Threat Match for the NXT Championship that he was in and dares Breakker to put him in that category. Owens leaves, then Dragunov and Breakker brawl while McDonagh watches from afar and security rushes in. McDonagh goes for a cheap shot when Dragunov puts Breakker down, but Dragunov headbutts him and hits him with the Torpedo Moscow. As Dragunov lifts up the NXT Championship, Austin Theory shows up.
