Generation NXT - NXT recap for June 6, 2023

Baron Corbin is seen entering the arena and making his way to the ring. Corbin says that he never thought he would come back to NXT, and when he got the call, he cleaned out his locker, never look back and ascended to the top of Raw and SmackDown, but the call-ups went from coming with talent to coming with ego. He says that the NXT stars of today are entitled and that it makes him sick, especially when they are coming into a stack that he helped build as they went from FCW to selling out smaller arenas. Corbin says today's NXT superstars cannot look him in the eye and give him the respect he deserves, then says that he has control of the next and he will make some of them regret signing a WWE contract due to being soft, weak and not as good as they think they are. He blames Carmelo Hayes for this, then brags about beating him down last week and holding the NXT Championship last week before Ilja Dragunov shows up. Dragunov introduces himself to Baron Corbin and tells him that he is far from soft and has beaten everyone in front of him to the point that he is first in line to the NXT Championship. Corbin chalks this up to "NXT arrogance," but Dragunov does not care who he goes through next and if he has to ravage Corbin's body with pain, so be it. Corbin says that there is a difference between what Dragunov wants and what he gets , but Dragunov says he makes challenges while Corbin makes assumptions and wants to challenge him. Corbin asks him if he wants him after Battleground, and Dragunov shows him a scar Dijak gave him. Corbin tells Dragunov that he will be covered in bruises when he is done with him. Dragunov says he looks forward to that challenge and leaves, then Corbin is attacked from behind by Trick Williams until officials restore order.

In footage from earlier today, Thea Hail comes back from practice with Drew Gulak and Charlie Dempsey when she is met by Duke Hudson. Hudson appreciates the fact that Thea Hail is taking it, but reminds her that she is in a battle royal tonight.

In backstage footage from moments ago, it is revealed that Ilja Dragunov has been attacked backstage by Bron Breakker.

Schism (Rip Fowler, Jagger Reid, Ava Raine) beat Diamond Mine (Julius Creed, Brutus Creed, Ivy Nile) after Ava hits Ivy Nile with her mask behind the referee's back after the referee checks on Jagger Reid after Ivy Nile puts him in the Diamond Chain. During the match, Baron Corbin vs. Trick Williams is announced as official for later tonight.

Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo visits Tony D'Angelo in jail. After finding out that Knuckles is here - and makes a mean steak - and that the guards got Tony a subscription to Peacock, Stacks says anybody could have ratted on Tony, but Tony tells him to follow his gut on Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang). As for how to handle them, it is up to Stacks.

In footage from earlier today, Mr. Stone and Von Wagner see a therapist. Wagner is reluctant after seeing someone leave the office crying, but when he finds out the therapist is a beautiful female instead of the two males that he screamed and yelled at in the recent past, he quickly changes his tune.

Blair Davenport beats Dani Palmer.

Dana Brooke announces outside of the arena that she will be in tonight's women's battle royal tonight and that she will be the last woman standing.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Tiffany Stratton, who says that everyone wants a shot at her title and that while the title makes the Superstar, the title has been elevated because of her, and everyone is envious of what she has. She notes that nobody was happy when she won the title, and that things will be the same when she retains. After admitting that Lyra Valkyria is the only person she sees winning tonight's battle royal, she will still retain her championship.

Baron Corbin beats Trick Williams.

It's time for Nathan Frazer Presents Hard Hitting Home Truths. Nathan Frazer talks about the recent happenings at Battleground and last week's show, then says he is not a fan of Noam Dar's new entourage before introducing his new senior international correspondent, Dragon Lee, who is also not a fan. Dragon Lee provides a top five for group names for Noam Dar's new entourage, then Frazer challenges Noam Dar for the Heritage Cup next week. Dragon Lee tells Nathan Frazer he will be in his corner.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Mustafa Ali, who says he is a free agent and that the ball is in his court. He says that he will become a champion when Wes Lee shows up and wants to defend his championship against him. Mustafa says he wants to earn his opportunity after facing Joe Gacy tonight, assuming Wes Lee is still champion in the end.

Mustafa Ali beats Joe Gacy. After the match, Ali is attacked by The Dyad (Rip Fowler and Jagger Reid), but Wes Lee and Tyler Bate rush into the ring and make the save, returning the favor from last week.

Backstage, Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen tell Fallon Henley that she has tonight's women's battle royal in the bag. Malik Blade and Edris Enofe then show up mentioning Hank Walker and Tank Ledger's match. They then find out that Briggs and Jensen know each other well when Hank and Tank show up and invite them for drinks. After they all leave, Gallus (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang) then show up and says it does not matter if Malik and Edris are on the same page, as they will never beat them for their titles.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Noam Dar and his entourage (Oro Mensah, Jakara Jackson, Lash Legend). Noam Dar says he has to be surrounded by starts and that his entourage is full of "shooting stars." Oro Mensah says that only Noam Dar believed in him and that he is shooting off into a new stratosphere. Jakara says she is here to represent sugar, spice and everything not so nice, and Lash Legend says the camera cannot handle the brightness because they are shining. Noam then says that if Nathan Frazer wants a Heritage Cup match, he should know that he is not losing the Heritage Cup and that there is no stopping "The Meta-Four."

Eddy Thorpe beats Damon Kemp with a German suplex pinfall attempt despite Kemp's right foot being on the rope, which the referee does not see.

Backstage, Gigi Dolin is on the phone talking to her brother about the women's battle royal, then Kiana James shows up and mocks Gigi Dolin as she says that she will lose and that an outcast like her with her background and emotions will never be a champion. Gigi Dolin says she cannot wait to see the look on her face when she sends her over the top rope. Dabba-Kato then walks by them on the way to the ring.

Scrypts beats Dabba-Kato with a schoolkid pin following the distractions by Axiom. After the match, Dabba-Kato attacks Scrypts, then attacks Axiom when he tries to make the save.

Backstage, Joe Gacy is furious with Mustafa Ali, Tyler Bate and Wes Lee's friendship and promises to expose it next week. He then congratulates the rest of Schism (Ava Raine, Rip Fowler, Jagger Reid) for pulling their weight while he fell short and that he must reflect, and Schism tells him they have his back.

Backstage, Mustafa Ali thanks Wes Lee and Tyler Bate for their help. Wes says they were returning the favor, and Tyler says they will tear the roots of The Schism (Joe Gacy, Rip Fowler, Jagger Reid) next week. Mustafa Ali tells Wes and Tyler that there is magic between them and that luck is better than skill, then tells them that everyone wants to see them face off one-on-one. Tyler loves the idea but does not want to ruin their friendship. Wes Lee says he understands and is down for the challenge. Mustafa Ali says they have a six-man tag match next week, and afterwards, they will figure out when Tyler and Wes tear the house down.

Thea Hail last eliminates Cora Jade and Dana Brooke after being absent for a good amount of the match, having not been eliminated, to become #1 contender for the NXT Women's Championship. During the match, Blair Davenport shows up to watch the match, and Tatum Paxley eliminates herself to ally herself with Davenport. After the match, the Chase University student section celebrates with Thea Hail in the ring.

Outside of the arena, Bron Breakker says he attacked Ilja Dragunov because he will not let him spit garbage about how he is the most intense in NXT and that he will hold everyone accountable from top to bottom. He then calls out Seth "Freakin'" Rollins for a match in NXT for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
