Raw Deal - Raw recap for February 28, 2022

Kevin Owens - in a cowboy hat - shows up to start tonight's show, and introduces Seth "Freakin'" Rollins. Together, they head to the ring for The Kevin Owens Show. Owens admits they have not secured their place in WrestleMania yet and says that this is not okay, as they are the two biggest Superstars in history. Rollins says it is no secret they have been screwed on the road to WrestleMania, but the WrestleMania goes have given them one more opportunity in the form of the Raw tag titles. He says they will take the titles into WrestleMania and make moments. Owens says that people have stated his disdain for Texas may distract, but nothing will distract him and keep them from becoming tag team champions next week and going on to WrestleMania. Owens then stomps his hat to prove that nothing or nobody from Texas will distract them, then Rollins brings out tonight's guests: Alpha Academy (Chad Gable and Otis). When Chad Gable says "Thank you" as Alpha Academy is welcome to the show, Kevin Owens mentions that he pronounces it funny. Gable says that Owens and Rollins are a bunch of asses making assumptions, then says he and Otis are still the champions right now. Owens says that is true until next week, when the Raw tag titles come home to him and Rollins, and Rollins says they need the titles and the titles need them. Gable says they weaseled their way into their match and turned the odds against them. Owens says he does not like numbers and that they are confusing and that it is business, not personal, but Gable says Owens and Rollins are so worried about getting their spot at WrestleMania when they've been there and he has not. Rollins says that after he and Owens win the belts, Alpha Academy can face them at WrestleMania. This leads to Chad Gable "shooshing" Owens and Rollins so much that Owens hits him with a Stunner.

He hopes that Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens are ready, because they want the tag team titles.

Before the next match, Rey Mysterio says that The Miz and Logan Paul challenged him and Dominik Mysterio to a match at WrestleMania, and even after they accepted, they still had to cheap shot them. Rey says that at WrestleMania, The Miz will be done with "all his B.S." Dominik says that tonight, they are focused on The Hurt Business and not some "Hollywood mega-dumbass and his fan boy." The Miz shows up and takes offense to Dominik's description of himself and Logan Paul before running down his WWE accolades, to which he adds joining forces with Logan Paul, whom he calls "more man than anyone in this arena." He says that with his help, Logan Paul will become the most successful Superstar in WWE history besides himself, as Logan Paul will enjoy beating Rey and Dominik down more than anyone else. Finn Balor beats Damian Priest after reversing the Reckoning to become the WWE United States Champion! After the match, Priest says the fans carried him to the United States Championship, then says the fans never gave him that kind of respect when he was champion and that he will win that championship back and prove that this inspiration did not mean anything. Priest then levels Balor with a clothesline before sending Finn Balor into the announce table with a release crucifix bomb.

Edge heads to the ring. Edge says he is ready for someone to step up and take his challenge to face him at WrestleMania, and demands somebody step up to him. When nobody shows up, Edge asks what has happened to WWE. Suddenly, "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles shows up. AJ says to Edge "I accept," and Edge says he is happy because both they and the fans have wanted this match for a long time. Edge then says he wants "the bulldog AJ" and not the man who has been "a tag team bitch to Omos for the past year." Edge then extends his hand, and when AJ reaches out to shake it, Edge beats AJ up. AJ fights back, but Edge ducks the Phenomenal Forearm and kicks him in the groin. Edge then grounds for the ground and pound on Styles, then teases leaving only to grab two chairs, take them to the ring and places AJ's head on one of them. He then reluctantly takes the other and hits AJ with the Con-Chair-To. After two Con-Chair-To shots, Edge looks at the WrestleMania sign to end the show.

He says that this is the biggest match on the biggest stage, and is bigger than Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. The Rock, and the night Brock Lesnar conquered The Undertaker's undefeated streak. Heyman says that Roman will solidify his "greatest of all time" status against Brock Lesnar in a title unification match, then gets down to the business at hand and states that security is here to protect Brock Lesnar from his own impulsiveness and from Roman Reigns. Moose says Heath has only been here for "a cup of tea" and asks him what he was doing for the last month and at No Surrender when Honor No More wreaked havoc, and Heath asks Moose if he has heard of COVID protocols. Heath says he has tested negative, and that since he and W. Morrissey are done with their feud, he wants to face Moose for the Impact World Championship so the fans will have a champion who will stand up for their company. He says that it is strictly business and that he had to get rid of dead weight that didn't meet his standards. Jay White says he had to make an executive decision for the betterment of Bullet Club and that The Guerrillas of Destiny *(Tama Tonga and Tanga Roa) are no longer part of it. Anderson and Gallows says that The Guerrillas were dead weight and "real OGs are for life." Violent By Design show up, and Eric Young declares their partnership with Gallows and Anderson over and demands a tag team title shot before coming to verbal blows with Jay White. Suddenly, The Guerrillas of Destiny attack Bullet Club, who soon flee. After a staredown between The Guerrillas of Destiny and Violent By Design, The Guerrillas leave.

JONAH beats "Outlandish" Zicky Dice. After the match, JONAH hits Zicky Dice with the Tsunami. Backstage, Gail Kim tells JONAH that he cannot destroy his opponents after the match because he wants to. JONAH tells her to stop feeding him appetizers, and Gail Kim responds by putting him in a match against PCO. After JONAH leaves, Johnny Swinger shows up and wants a match with JONAH next week after JONAH nearly put him on the shelf and nearly ended Zicky Dice's career, even having trained on the finer points on Australian wrestling. Gail Kim gives him the match.

Mickie James and Chelsea Green meet with Gail Kim regarding their Knockouts World Championship Match. Suddenly, Tasha Steelz and Savannah Evans show up. Upon hearing about Chelsea getting a Knockouts title shot, Tasha tells Mickie she can beat Mickie any time she wants, and Mickie calls Tasha out for having Savannah help her win. Gail Kim puts Chelsea and Tasha in a next match, with the winner getting a title shot. Mickie tells Chelsea she has her back and that she will take care of Savannah, but Chelsea says she can do this on her own.

Honor No More (Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, Kenny King) beat Team Impact (Rich Swann, Willie Mack, Chris Sabin). After the match, Maria Kanellis-Bennett introduces Eddie Edwards to the ring. Rich Swann confronts Eddie as Eddie makes his way to the ring. After the commercial break, Scott D'Amore has to lead Team Impact to the back. Eddie Edwards says he can see the anger and betrayal in everyone's eyes and that they are right to feel that way, but wrong to blame him. He says he has known Honor No More for a long time and came up in the business with most of them, but that is now what they joined them. He says he felt betrayed when ROH went on a hiatus, as he felt what they did for ROH meant nothing. Eddie also says that this is not why he joined Honor No More, either. He says it is not about one time, one place or one company, and that they have identified a corruption and cancer of dishonor within the business and Impact Wrestling. He says that two years ago, the world changed and Impact was forced to change with it by opening doors that had been closed for a very long time by allowing people from other companies to wrestle in Impact, and he was for it because he believed in what Impact did. Eddie says he kept that faith when Kenny Omega came to the company, then lost that faith when Rich Swann lost the Impact World Championship to Kenny Omega and Impact failed to see what was in front of their faces. He says he waited patiently for his shot at the World title as Sami Callihan failed to win the title and Moose failed to do his job, but when the time came to choose who would restore honor, they chose "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander and not him. Eddie says it was at that moment that Impact Wrestling "truly had honor no more," and Impact had zero faith in him and he had no choice but to listen what Honor No More had to say. He says he did not turn his back on Impact; instead, Impact ripped the heart out of itself with the decisions they made along the way, as he gave everything to Impact and got nothing in return. He then says he did not think he would be here in one or two years, but anything is possible. Suddenly, Alisha Edwards shows up and chides Eddie for joining Honor No More instead of asking Impact for forgiveness. Eddie tells Alisha that she was there for him and saw what happened, but Alisha tells Eddie she taught her to keep faith and that those who got opportunities at Omega deserved them. Alisha says she knows Eddie wanted to be the man to do it, but Josh Alexander was the man to get the job done. She tells Eddie to stop bitching and celebrate with their real family, but Eddie says Honor No More is his family now. Alisha asks what that makes her, but Eddie says that is up to her as he did not turn his back on anyone and is walking out on those who turned their backs on him.

Page recalls Adam Cole's story of how he became world champion everywhere he went, then says that Cole joined The Elite when he saw the writing on the wall and his world crumbling around him. He says that Adam Cole kept his eye on the AEW World Championship never realizing he was moving closer to a six-foot hole in the ground and fell into the grave so he could lay him down in it at Revolution.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews Bryan Danielson, who says Daniel Garcia reminds him of a younger version of himself, yet hangs out with 2point0 (Jeff Parker and Matt Lee) and would be at a much different level if he hung out with him or Jon Moxley. He then mentions the autograph signing on that Friday where he met CM Punk. MJF says that he promised himself that he would be like his hero CM Punk and become the best in the world. He then talks about how later in life, he still wanted to be a professional wrestler. He mentions that CM Punk left the fans - and especially him - and him when he needed him most, and he ended up killing his dreams and going to college until he saw a picture of CM Punk shaking hands with Bryan Danielson on the Internet. MJF says he was livid and promised that he would become the best in the world in spite of CM Punk and that he would not leave someone who was just like him in high school like Punk did. He then says that Punk can do whatever he wants to him at Revolution, but he will not quit, for if he quits, he will be no better than CM Punk. Punk shows up and asks "Is it true? Is it real?" MJF says "It's true." A tear falls down MJF's cheek as he leaves.

Eddie Kingston heads to the ring, followed by Chris Jericho moments later. Four security guards also stand in the ring. Kingston admits he does not like Jericho and is amazed security is in the ring, but Jericho says they are here so they can talk and not fight like common street thugs. Kingston says that since Jericho does not want to fight him, he would rather have Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale square off in the ring right now. He also says AEW is a wrestling company, not a sports entertainment company like the one down the block. Jericho says that when he heard about Eddie Kingston was coming to AEW, everybody was excited except for him, as he did not know who Eddie Kingston was, saying Kingston looked like "a jobber." After seeing him in action, however, he saw how good Eddie Kingston was and raved about him a few days later. Jericho then mentions Kingston signing to AEW, but says he did not give a shit about him or his "sob story" because Kingston was jealous of him. He says that Kingston hit the big time at 38 years old, and Jericho says that when he was at that age, he had been in the big time for years and did just about everything. He also says Kingston is jealous because he will never accomplish everything he did. Kingston says Jericho did all that he did because he was not there, and says that he is a different king of person and does not leech off people or suck up to the promoters, preferring to do things his way. Kingston says his blood is too tough for Jericho and that his heart does not pump Kool-Aid, and says he would rather fight him at Revolution than talk to him. Jericho says Kingston fears success and is terrified to make it to the top because he knows he would fall to the other side, because his uncle and father were both his heroes but became failures. He also says Kingston cannot win "the big one." Jericho then says he is "the big one" in AEW, and if Kingston wants a match with him at Revolution, he has got it. He then says that if Kingston manages to beat him then, he will look him in the eye, shake his hand, and tell him he has his respect. Kingston warns Jericho not to give him the Jericho in "the mimosa match" or the Jericho that got pushed off a cage in MJF, and tells him to give him the trailblazing Jericho that turned World Championship Wrestling upside-down and Paul Levesque hated, or he will eat him alive. Jericho says he will get that and so much more, then says that Kingston does not believe he can beat him and win the big one and that he is nothing more than a loser and always will be.

Backstage, Matt Hardy talks with Andrade el Idolo. Andrade says he does not need anybody in his corner to win, but he will win and have his back. Matt then proposes that Andrade and Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) take on Sting, Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin at Revolution.

Tay Conti tells Jade Cargill "I'm the one who's gonna beat your ass, bitch!" She then runs into the ring and has a stardown with Jade, who kisses her on the forehead. The Bunny gets in the ring, but Tay hits her with the Tay-KO. Jade then lays Tay out with a pump kick before leaving the ring as Anna Jay enters the ring with a chair.

Backstage, Alex Marvez interviews Keith Lee, who says that he is familiar with Ricky Starks. Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs show up, and Starks tells him that Team Taz runs things in AEW and that he should "stay in his lane." Hobbs stares down Keith Lee, but Starks says that they will save this for Revolution.

Bryan Danielson beats Daniel Garcia with a triangle sleeper after kicking his head in. After the match, Bryan Danielson says he got what he wanted to see out of Daniel Garcia, then 2point0 (Jeff Parker and Matt Lee) attack him from behind. Suddenly, Jon Moxley shows up and clotheslines them out of the ring. Garcia tries to hit Moxley from behind with a chair, but Moxley levels him with the Paradigm Shift before staring down Danielson. Danielson then takes the microphone and says that he does not need a chair to make anybody bleed, and if Moxley wants a match with him at Revolution, he has it. He then tells him not to be surprised if he is the only person bleeding.

As Malcolm Bivens says Diamond Mine is the real deal while Imperium are a bunch of bitches, Imperium shows up and Gunther tells Bivens to put respect on Imperium's name. Heyman says that Roman Reigns does not suck before calling Roman the true world heavyweight champion of WWE and explaining that he is here out of love for their twenty years of business and friendship. He says that Heyman is myopic and on top of the world right now, but he has an obstacle in his path in the form of a WWE Championship defense at Madison Square Garden. Lesnar says he can appreciate Heyman even though he is "such a dick," and Heyman says that even if Bobby Lashley does not show up for the show, he will still have his back to make the match world title-caliber. Alpha Academy (Chad Gable and Otis) beat The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) after Montez Ford lifts up Otis only for Otis to land on him for a pinfall attempt and Gable grabs the ankle to keep Montez from kicking out.

Backstage, Kevin Patrick interviews Tommaso Ciampa. Ciampa says this all started because Dolph Ziggler wanted to disrespect him on his home turf and that he will take on Ziggler any day of the week, with Robert Roode being a bonus. He then says he knew who he needed to call for a tag team partner: Finn Balor. Finn Balor says Raw may be his home now, but he does not forget where he came from and he does not forget his history with Ciampa. He says that they stood neck and neck, but now they stand shoulder to shoulder.

Miz says that the fans need Rey because if he succeeds, they succeed, and that he has realized that the fans cannot be trusted. He says he has found a new tag partner he can relate to who is from a fighting family and is very dashing. Rey and Dominik Mysterio show up, and Rey says that he and Miz are not the same and that there is nobody who would tag with The Miz because nobody in the locker room can stand him. Rey says that the outsider who is willing to tag with him should go back to where he came from and give a WrestleMania moment to those who deserve it, but Miz says he knows what is best for the wrestling business, not him or the fans. He says their match at Elimination Chamber felt like a handicap match, then questions if Dominik has a WWE contract because of Rey. Dominik says he has been in the front row since he was seven and that he knows what it takes to be a WWE Superstar. He says that he will do what it takes to stay here, because the wrestling business is in his blood and all he knows. Miz then proposes that his new tag team partner face Rey and Dominik at WrestleMania, then introduces his new tag team partner: Logan Paul. Logan Paul says he has bigger pool toys than Rey, then Dominik says that if that is the best Miz can do, they accept. Miz then attacks Rey from behind while Logan attacks Dominik, then send both of them into ring posts. Miz hits Rey with the Skull Crushing Finale, then Logan does the same to Dominik.

Backstage, Kevin Patrick interviews Alpha Academy (Chad Gable and Otis). Gable says that tonight's main event is disgusting, as Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens complained to get a title shot and it worked, then says that regardless of who is in the title picture, they will win.

Becky reminds Bianca she walked out as double champion, and that she has held the Raw Women's title for three years and has never been beaten for it, then reminds Bianca it has been six months since she beat her for the SmackDown title, which Becky says Bianca loves to bring up to play the victim. Bianca says she is not a victim and that she went to the back of the line to get back on top because Becky told her to, then Becky says she herself is the victim because the fans loved her before Bianca came around and turned on and despised her for beating Bianca for the SmackDown women's title. She says that for that, she despises the fans, and says that she beat someone she loved in Lita before saying what she could do to somebody she despises.
