Generation NXT UK - NXT UK recap for August 4, 2022

Ilja Dragunov heads to the ring to start tonight's show, but when he does, it is on crutches and in a boot. Dragunov states that he suffered a severe ankle injury last week against Wolfgang, but he fought until the very end because the NXT UK Championship is not a privilege and that it is a symbol of fighting to be the very best, as NXT UK has only had fighting champions. He then says that as much as he would love to continue to do that, he cannot, as he cannot be medically cleared and nobody knows how long he will need to recover. As a result, he has been forced to relinquish the NXT UK Championship. He says he will not talk about how hard he worked for this, as every Superstar is working hard, and that he cannot talk about his hard life as everyone has to fight their own battles and he is nothing special in that case. He also says that he will not wish he was more careful so that this injury could not have happened, but he regrets nothing and he sees pieces of his soul all over the ring, as he wants to show his true soul and his honest face and encourge people that with will, one can endure pain as long as it has a reason and win. Dragunov says he fought with his soul as NXT UK Champion, and that as sad as he is to relinquish the championship and that somebody else will take his place, he knows that no one beats him except himself and that he will come back as a better man than the fans someday. He also says that if the fans think he is strong now, he will become even stronger to get it back. Dragunov then lays the NXT UK Championship in the middle of the ring.

We see Chase University (Andre Chase, Bodhi Hayward, Thea Hail) take in the sights of London, England before heading to the UK Performance Center, where they meet a barefoot Sha Samuels and try to cheer him up only for Sha Samuels to fire himself up.

Backstage, General Manager Johnny Saint and Assistant to the General Manager Sid Scala sing Inja Dragunov's praises before announcing an eight-man tournament for the vacant NXT UK Championship, with the brackets being announced later this evening.

Oliver Carter beats Rohan Raja. After the match, Teoman and Charlie Dempsey attack Carter, and Dempsey puts Carter in a single leg crab that referees have to pull Dempsey out of.

In backstage footage from earlier today, Thea Hail talks about Chase University when Eliza Alexander shows up and brags about his "school of hard knocks" education before saying she is sick and tired of Americans taking opportunities from her when she should be contending for the NXT UK Women's Championship. She also says that beating people up gets attention, but when she mentions Chase University, Thea Hail refuses to even have it with her.

Backstage, Die Familie (Teoman, Rohan Raja, Charlie Dempsey) brag about their attack on Oliver Carter, and when Teoman calls their attack on Carter a win, Sam Gradwell shows up and says Teoman only gets his way when Rohan Raja and Charlie Dempsey are with him and that things will be different if they try anything with him.

Before the next match - Sha Samuels - now looking in a bad way - shows up with a knapsack on a stick and pulls his hat out to beg for money on the way to the ring.

Sha Samuels beats Bodhi Hayward.

Backstage, Oliver Carter says his leg is in bad shape, but he will be good. Assistant to the General Manager Sid Scala then shows up and tells Carter he will be in the eight-man tournament for the NXT UK Championship, and that his first round match is next week. Carter says that no injury will stop him from being champion again.

The eight-man tournament for the vacant NXT UK Championship begins next week with Trent Seven vs. Wolfgang and Charlie Dempsey vs. Oliver Carter. In two weeks, Mark Andrews will face Joe Coffey, and Kenny Williams will face Tyler Bate.

Before the next match, Blair Davenport shows up and announces that she has attacked both Meiko Satomura and Sarray. Assistant to the General Manager Sid Scala shows up as Davenport says that Satomura keeps ignoring her, and if it were not for her breaking her ankle, she would be standing as the current NXT UK Women's Champion. She then says she will continue to cause chaos in NXT UK if she does not get a championship match, then Amale shows up and says this is not how things work, then Eliza Alexander shows up and says Davenport has a point, saying the louder one is, the more people pay attention before saying she is deserving of being in line. Davenport says she has beaten everyone on this roster and that she is next in line, then Isla Dawn shows up from out of nowhere and says Davenport has yet to beat her. Scala makes Isla Dawn vs. Blair Davenport the main event due to both of them being in their gear, and the winner gets to face Meiko Satomura for the NXT UK Women's Championship.

Isla Dawn vs. Blair Davenport to determine a #1 contender for the NXT UK Women's Championship end with Eliza Alexander pulling Isla Dawn out of the ring. After the match, Amale attacks Blair Davenport, then a brawl starts between all four women that officials have to break up.

Isla Dawn then says she needs her final trophy, which Satomura possesses. Satomura says Isla Dawn is a strong competitor, and if she wants a championship match, all she has to do is ask. Isla says Satomura is mistaken, as she takes things instead of asks. She then kicks satomura in the face before walking off with Satomura's flowers.

Generation NXT UK - NXT UK recap for July 15, 2021

In memory of "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff, 1949 - 2021.

We hear from Triple H. He announces that on October 29, 2020, NXT UK brought a match that is so intense that defined a brand and re-defined brutality that people still talk about it. That match is Ilja Dragunov vs. Walter for the NXT UK Championship, and next week, the long-awaited rematch takes place. Triple H says that Walter has dominated the brand for over 800 days while defending the title both in the US and the UK, and that Dragunov is an enigma and one of the most dedicated and intense invidiuals to ever enter the squared circle, and that next week, the world will be watching.

Assistant to the General Manager Sid Scala moderates a press conference between Walter and Ilja Dragunov, and demands there be no physicality tonight. Alex McCarthy from talkSport asks Walter if he believes his championship reign is under threat, to which Walter replies no, as the difference between him and Dragunov is that he is here for the greater good as well as the tradition and history of professional wrestling, and says that while Ilja is a great athlete, he does not have the mental ability to step up to his level and that he will have to prove this when he wrestles him again. Ace from BBC 1Xtra asks Dragunov what he has learned from last year's defeat, and Dragunov admits it has been a dark time since then, and that failures like this last in one's mind and that he had lost control since then, but he has since found himself again and he had to learn to compete at a top level again. Alistair McGeorge from Metro.co.uk asks Walter Dragunov what to expect from next week's rematch, and Dragunov says to expect brutality and that people will forget what the world "violence" means, and that the outcome will be difference. As Dragunov says that Walter is arrogant and has a god complex, Walter interrupts him and says he redefines the sport when he wrestles, and that Dragunov was happy enough to be a part of that. He then says he is tired of seeing Dragunov being sad about himself and says that he is a fraud and "all show," as Dragunov realized that while he is fantastic, he is not man enough and on his level, and that all his displays of intensity and motivation are there to get attention. Walter then demands a saddened Dragunov look at him as he speaks in German. Dragunov says he thought it was enough to be champion last time, and while he has respect for Walter because Walter makes him a better wrestler when he steps in the ring with him, the respect is now gone for what Walter did to him afterwards and all that is left is hate for the person that he nearly made him into when he broke him, saying it was not necessary. He says that next week, he will break Walter in the ring and either walk out NXT UK Champion or not walk out at all. Sid Scala steps away as both men have an intense staredown.

We hear from Subculture ("Flash" Morgan Webster, Mark Andrews, Dani Luna). Andrews says he is having deja vu, and Webster says that it is because two years ago, they won the NXT UK Tag Team Championships. Dani Luna says that next week, history will repeat itself against Pretty Deadly (Sam Stoker and Lewis Howley), and Dani Luna says Andrews and Webster will be two-time NXT UK Tag Team Champions.

Teoman and Rohan Raja beat Ashton Smith and Oliver Carter with a crosfface from Teoman to Carter.

In footage from earlier this week, Assistant to the General Manager Sid Scala is being interviewed when A-Kid walks out of the trainer's room with a walker and a leg cast. He says that he is sick and tired of Jordan Devlin, and that he needs a rematch with Devlin in a 30-minute Iron Man Match as soon as he is medically cleared. Scala says he will get right on it.

We hear from Aoife Valkyrie, who says she has watched and learned everything she could about Jinny, and says that Jinny will never understand that the best have short memories when it comes to failure and that she is here to be the best. She says she is here to climb while Jinny is not prepared to take off her high heels, as she only picks a fight if she knows the odds are in your favor. She then says that Jinny has declared war on the wrong person.

We hear from Pretty Deadly (Sam Stoker and Lewis Howley). Sam Stoker says that Subculture ("Flash" Morgan Webster, Mark Andrews, Dani Luna) are social outcasts and weirdos that cost them a match last week. Howley says it was his mistake taking Andrews lightly, and says that Andrews made a mistake getting his friends involved. He says that Pretty Deadly run the tag team division, while Stoker says that Subculter are tag team champions of the past.

Meiko Satomura retains the NXT UK Women's Championship against Amale.

It is announced that there was an altercation between Walter and Ilja Dragunov backstage following their press conference, and that Walter has suffered a severe injury in his left hand. WWE has declared Walter medically unfit for competition, and due to these circumstances, Ilja Dragunov vs. Walter for the NXT UK Championship will not take place next week as scheduled. There will be more information available next week.

Rampage tells Coffey that he knows what he is up against, and Dragunov says he is in the mix because it is neither man's playground. The three of them agree that they have had similar upbringings and have become the three most dominant competitors in NXT UK because of it. Coffey asks Dragunov is he left a piece of himself in the ring against Walter, then says their match will become even more violent and that he will leave them both laying. Dragunov says he is violence and that anything can happen, and that he is prepared. After the three of them talk over each other, Coffey simply says "So let's bring it."

At the UK Performance Center, Mark Coffey finds Sha Samuels working on a crossword puzzle and mocks him. Samuels says Coffey can try to be like him, but he can never beat him, then looks for Johnny Saint to make a match official when Mark Coffey continues to mock him.

It's time for SPRNVA Sessions. Noam Dar announces that he has finally gotten his first shirt in WWE and that it is on sale now, then introduces tonight's guest, Jordan Devlin. Noam Dar apologizes for not getting Devlin on the show sooner, and Devlin says that they are both high-achieving individuals thanks to their time in America, saying "America sucks." Noam Dar then says that Devlin was robbed of the NXT Cruiserweight Championship, and Devlin says that just because somebody can climb up a ladder faster does not make them the better man. Devlin says that when he comes back to America, he will be coming after both Santos Escobar and the NXT Cruiserweight Championship. Noam Dar says that he is there if Devlin needs his help, then decides to pay it forward and allows Devlin to make his own SPRNVA Sessions exclusive. Devlin tells the fans that he is back and that he is not hard to find if anyone wants to take a crack at him. Noam Dar then plugs his shirt again to end the show.
