Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for February 23, 2022

Kyle O'Reilly last eliminates Matt Jackson as Matt Jackson eliminates John Silver to win the tag team battle royal to make ReDragon (Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly) the new #1 contenders for the AEW World Tag Team Championships. Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus and Christian Cage watch the match from the stage at the start of the show. After the match, ReDragon and The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) argue only for "Hangman" Adam Page to get in the ring and right ReDragon. The Young Bucks stand there and watch Page beat them up before leaving, then Adam Cole gets in the ring. Adam Cole tries to superkick Page, but Page fights him off. The Elite and ReDragon help Cole out of the ring before Page can hit the Buckshot Lariat, then John Silver takes both teams out and throws O'Reilly into the ring so that Page can hit the Buckshot Lariat. Page recalls Adam Cole's story of how he became world champion everywhere he went, then says that Cole joined The Elite when he saw the writing on the wall and his world crumbling around him. He says that Adam Cole kept his eye on the AEW World Championship never realizing he was moving closer to a six-foot hole in the ground and fell into the grave so he could lay him down in it at Revolution.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews Bryan Danielson, who says Daniel Garcia reminds him of a younger version of himself, yet hangs out with 2point0 (Jeff Parker and Matt Lee) and would be at a much different level if he hung out with him or Jon Moxley. On the subject of Jon Moxley, he will give him his answer tonight.

MJF heads to the ring. MJF says he used to love CM Punk and that while he gets why people are booing him, then mentions the photograph of him with Punk from years ago and says that professional wrestling got him out of a tough time and that photo meant everything to him. He talks about his litany of learning disabilities such as severe attention deficit disorder that made school hell for him, then mentions that he was good at sports and how he made the school football team only to not be accepted by his teammates. MJF then mentions one time when he walked down the hallway at school and his teammates threw rolls of quarters at him and said, "Pick it up, Jew boy, pick it up." He then mentions the autograph signing on that Friday where he met CM Punk. MJF says that he promised himself that he would be like his hero CM Punk and become the best in the world. He then talks about how later in life, he still wanted to be a professional wrestler. He mentions that CM Punk left the fans - and especially him - and him when he needed him most, and he ended up killing his dreams and going to college until he saw a picture of CM Punk shaking hands with Bryan Danielson on the Internet. MJF says he was livid and promised that he would become the best in the world in spite of CM Punk and that he would not leave someone who was just like him in high school like Punk did. He then says that Punk can do whatever he wants to him at Revolution, but he will not quit, for if he quits, he will be no better than CM Punk. Punk shows up and asks "Is it true? Is it real?" MJF says "It's true." A tear falls down MJF's cheek as he leaves.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews 2point0 (Jeff Parker and Matt Lee) and Daniel Garcia. Jeff Parker and Matt Lee are angry with Bryan Danielson wanting to be Garcia's mentor and say he will get a taste of violence tonight, and Garcia says violence is the one thing he does not need to learn.

The Death Triangle (PAC and Penta Oscura) beat The Kings of the Black Throne (Malakai Black and Brody King) after Penta Oscura stops Malakai Black from spitting his black mist by covering his mouth. (Penta Oscura is a darker version of Penta el Zero Miedo, similar to Pentagon Dark from Lucha Underground.) After the match, Brody King attacks The Death Triangle as Malakai Black chokes on his own black mist. Malakai grabs a shovel and gets the taste of his own mist out of his mouth. As he is about to hit Penta with the shovel, the lights go out. When they come back on Buddy Matthews - formerly Buddy Murphy in WWE - is in the ring. Malakai Black is spooked as soon as he seeds Buddy Matthews, then Buddy Matthews attacks PAC and Penta. Brody King levels the security detail as they run down the ramp. Brody King then throws a chair into the ring, and Buddy holds Penta down before stomping Penta face-first into the chair at the behest of Malakai. Buddy then stands side by side with the Kings of the Black Throne. The lights go out, and when they come back on, they are gone.

We see a video package for the contract signing for Thunder Rosa vs. Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. for the AEW Women's World Championship at Revolution on Rampage.

Eddie Kingston heads to the ring, followed by Chris Jericho moments later. Four security guards also stand in the ring. Kingston admits he does not like Jericho and is amazed security is in the ring, but Jericho says they are here so they can talk and not fight like common street thugs. Kingston says that since Jericho does not want to fight him, he would rather have Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale square off in the ring right now. He also says AEW is a wrestling company, not a sports entertainment company like the one down the block. Jericho says that when he heard about Eddie Kingston was coming to AEW, everybody was excited except for him, as he did not know who Eddie Kingston was, saying Kingston looked like "a jobber." After seeing him in action, however, he saw how good Eddie Kingston was and raved about him a few days later. Jericho then mentions Kingston signing to AEW, but says he did not give a shit about him or his "sob story" because Kingston was jealous of him. He says that Kingston hit the big time at 38 years old, and Jericho says that when he was at that age, he had been in the big time for years and did just about everything. He also says Kingston is jealous because he will never accomplish everything he did. Kingston says Jericho did all that he did because he was not there, and says that he is a different king of person and does not leech off people or suck up to the promoters, preferring to do things his way. Kingston says his blood is too tough for Jericho and that his heart does not pump Kool-Aid, and says he would rather fight him at Revolution than talk to him. Jericho says Kingston fears success and is terrified to make it to the top because he knows he would fall to the other side, because his uncle and father were both his heroes but became failures. He also says Kingston cannot win "the big one." Jericho then says he is "the big one" in AEW, and if Kingston wants a match with him at Revolution, he has got it. He then says that if Kingston manages to beat him then, he will look him in the eye, shake his hand, and tell him he has his respect. Kingston warns Jericho not to give him the Jericho in "the mimosa match" or the Jericho that got pushed off a cage in MJF, and tells him to give him the trailblazing Jericho that turned World Championship Wrestling upside-down and Paul Levesque hated, or he will eat him alive. Jericho says he will get that and so much more, then says that Kingston does not believe he can beat him and win the big one and that he is nothing more than a loser and always will be.

Backstage, Matt Hardy talks with Andrade el Idolo. Andrade says he does not need anybody in his corner to win, but he will win and have his back. Matt then proposes that Andrade and Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) take on Sting, Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin at Revolution.

"Absolute" Ricky Starks beats Preston "10" Vance to qualify for the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match after pulling on the back of 10's mask and hitting the Spear for the win.

Backstage, we hear from Adam Cole and ReDragon. The Young Bucks confront ReDragon for double-crossing them, but Matt Jackson says they have another shot next week and they will beat them at the pay-per-view. After The Young Bucks leave, Adam Cole demands that ReDragon get along with The Young Bucks, as they are all a team.

Jade Cargill retains the TBS Championship against The Bunny after blocking a shot from the knuckles - brought into the match by Matt Hardy as he distracts referee Aubrey Edwards - with the TBS Championship - brought into the match by "Smart" Mark Sterling - and reversing Down The Rabbit Hole into Jaded after Hardy and Sterling are both ejected from ringside for introducing the knuckles and the TBS Championship into the match as weapons. After the match, Tony Schiavone interviews Jade Cargill, who takes the microphone and asks "Who's next?" and "Who's left?" Suddenly, Tay Conti shows up. Tay Conti tells Jade Cargill "I'm the one who's gonna beat your ass, bitch!" She then runs into the ring and has a stardown with Jade, who kisses her on the forehead. The Bunny gets in the ring, but Tay hits her with the Tay-KO. Jade then lays Tay out with a pump kick before leaving the ring as Anna Jay enters the ring with a chair.

Backstage, Alex Marvez interviews Keith Lee, who says that he is familiar with Ricky Starks. Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs show up, and Starks tells him that Team Taz runs things in AEW and that he should "stay in his lane." Hobbs stares down Keith Lee, but Starks says that they will save this for Revolution.

Bryan Danielson beats Daniel Garcia with a triangle sleeper after kicking his head in. After the match, Bryan Danielson says he got what he wanted to see out of Daniel Garcia, then 2point0 (Jeff Parker and Matt Lee) attack him from behind. Suddenly, Jon Moxley shows up and clotheslines them out of the ring. Garcia tries to hit Moxley from behind with a chair, but Moxley levels him with the Paradigm Shift before staring down Danielson. Danielson then takes the microphone and says that he does not need a chair to make anybody bleed, and if Moxley wants a match with him at Revolution, he has it. He then tells him not to be surprised if he is the only person bleeding.

Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for Feburary 2, 2022

Jon Moxley beats Wheeler. (Brian Kendrick, also known as The Brian Kendrick, was originally supposed to be in the match, but was pulled less than two hours before showtime by Tony Khan due to conspiratorial comments about the Holocaust, September 11th and Sandy Hook resurfacing.) After the match, Bryan Danielson gets in the ring, and he and Moxley have a staredown. Danielson asks the fans if they want to the see them fight, then tells Moxley that for a long time, he wanted that too, because he was different and he wanted to see what he had. After the match, Bryan Danielson gets in the ring, and he and Moxley have a staredown. Danielson asks the fans if they want to the see them fight, then tells Moxley that for a long time, he wanted that too, because he was different and he wanted to see what he had. Daniel Bryan then says he realized they should not be fighting not each other, but fighting together. He then says there should be no reason why a "millennial cowboy" like "Hangman" Adam Page or a person who is dressed like a dinosaur should be tag team champion. He then says that Sammy Guevara's main contribution to wrestling is a vlog and that he should not be TNT Champion. Bryan then says that he and Moxley could run AEW and do whatever they wanted, and if they wanted to be champions, they could do it. Bryan says that Wheeler Yuta is coming out to the ring with "jokes" in Best Friends, and ponders if they could mentor Daniel Garcia instead of 2point0 (Jeff Parker and Matt Lee) or mentor Lee Moriarty instead of Matt Sydal, and train the future of professional wrestling together. Bryan then says even if the fans don't like him, they like what he is talking about right now, then says it is a lot to put on Moxley's plate and that he wants him to think about the possibilities, what they could do and the greatness and legacy they could make.

We see a video package of the events leading up to CM Punk vs. MJF.

Brandi Rhodes is in the ring. She accidentally calls Chicago, Illinois "Cleveland," then Dan Lambert and The Men of the Year (Scorpio Sky and "All Ego" Ethan Page) show up and Lambert says that Brandi believes her own bullshit and needs a reality check instead of a reality show. He says Brandi can pretend "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes earned his spot in the company and that she has a real title that isn't an excuse to stroke her own ego before stating her boobs aren't natural and that she can't pretend she isn't getting booed out of the building. Brandi says she does not understand the beef why Dan Lambert is trying to run her down when he has a great list of accomplishments in his own right, but understands things could be going better for Lambert right now. As the crowd continues to boo Brandi, Brandi says it is telling that his best fighter got knocked out by Jake Paul, then mentions Amanda Nunez before saying Lambert should spend less time in AEW and more time in America's Top Team. Lambert appreciates Brandi's wit, but asks when Brandi's family will turn heel because it is better than her old job where she was turned face down. Brandi slaps Lambert in the face, then Lambert says he knew Brandi was in a fighting mood tonight. Lambert, knowing he has things to do before going down in a blaze of cancel culture and not having knocking her out on his bucket list, brings out Paige Van Zant, who goes after Brandi. The women's locker room quickly runs into the ring with some referees to break up the brawl.

Backstage, Matt Hardy tells Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) that he is disappointed in their performance last week, then states that he wants the TNT Championship before Andrade el Idolo shows up. Andrade says he does not want any mistakes, and Isiah Kassidy says he will get the TNT Championship on Friday. When Matt Hardy asks why Darby Allin is not signed yet, Andrade says that Darby Allin may want more money.

Before the next match, PAC heads to the ring blindfolded with help from Alex Abrahantes. Shortly after the match starts, he reveals that he is able to see again.

The Kings of the House of Black (Malakai Black and Brody King) beat Death Triangle (PAC and Penta el Zero Miedo) after Malakai Black spits black mist into Penta's eyes.

We hear from Adam Cole, who says that he is still undefeated in singles competition and that Orange Cassidy did not beat him, saying his win was a fluke. He says that he is one of the best on the planet for years and that everyone will see a new side of him. He says that side takes what he wants, and when he faces and beats Evil Uno on Rampage, everyone will know what he wants.

Rancid bassist Matt Freeman is seen in the front row before the next match.

"The Native Beast" Nyla Rose beats Ruby Soho.

Backstage, The Gunn Club (Billy, Austin and Colten Gunn) annoys and aggravates Jungle Boy, which starts a very one-sided brawl on the outside of the arena. After they throw him in the snow, Christian Cage chases them off.

Tony Schiavone interviews "Hangman" Adam Page in the ring. Adam Page says he has been World Champion for 81 days and has defended it twice, then says he does not care if next week's match is a Texas Death Match and that he wants the match now. He then calls out Lance Archer, telling him to get in the ring so they can have a fight. Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Dan Lambert show up, and Lambert shows his surprise that Adam Page is here tonight. Roberts tells Adam Page to shut up, then says that Adam Page is acting different and that he is scared. Lance Archer then shows up, then both he and Adam Page brawl. Lambert hits Adam Page with a chair, but when Adam Page goes after him, Archer hits him with a chair from behind and choke slams him on the ring steps. Archer then puts Adam Page through a table with the Blackout, then says that next week, he will become the next AEW World Champion.

Backstage, Chris Jericho tells Proud 'n Powerful (Santana and Ortiz) that when they did not tag him in last week, it was disrespectful and embarrassing to him. He says he has more influence than Eddie Kingston, and that he wants them to tell him why they did what they did last week. He then calls a full Inner Circle meeting next week, and that all members will have to attend, especially Santana and Ortiz.

MJF beats CM Punk with a sleeper with a body scissors with some wrist tape hidden underneath his arm...almost. After MJF is declared the winner, he accidentally drops the wrist tape, and referee Bryce Remsburg declares that the match will continue.

MJF beats CM Punk and hands Punk his first loss in AEW after Wardlow shows up and stares down CM Punk before stepping away. Punk, distracted by and distrusting of Wardlow, is decked by MJF when he hits him with the Dynamite Diamond Ring for the win. During the replay, it is revealed that Wardlow passed the Dynamite Diamond Ring to MJF.

Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for January 19, 2022

Jon Moxley shows up for the first time since early October to start tonight's show. After chewing out a heckler in the audience for yelling "Boo! Get this drunken piece of trash out of the ring!", Moxley talks about a bad dream he had on a plane where he was beaten up and a black cloud was above him asking him if he had the nerve to think he made an out. He says that everyone carry scars on the inside and that people try to cover them up or pretend they do not happen, and says people should be proud of those scars, as they make people who they are. Moxley says there are plenty of people who doubt him or want to write him off, and to those people, he says they can shove it up their ass. He says he does not run from demons; he just beats the shit out of them. Moxley thanks those who have supported him through thick and thin, then says that he is going to grab the world of professional wrestling by the balls and do whatever he wants, for he is truly free. He says he has been to Hell and that it has been very liberating, then says nobody can put him through more hell than he has already been through and says that if people thought he was dangerous now, then he is thirsty and all he drinks is blood.

Backstage, we hear from MJF and Wardlow. MJF says that instead of taking the loss on the chin, Punk took the easy way out against Wardlow. He apologizes to Wardlow - whose birthday is today - then docks his pay for putting his hands on him, saying the money will go back up if he can qualify for the World title picture. He then says that Shawn Spears will get the job done against CM Punk tonight and that he will be there to call all the action.

Adam Cole and Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. beat Best Friends (Orange Cassidy and Kris Statlander) after Orange Cassidy inadvertently puts Britt Baker through a table and Cole hits Orange Cassidy with a low blow.

Backstage, Alex Marvez interviews Chris Jericho, Santana and Ortiz. Jericho says he does not care about Eddie Kingston, but Ortiz stops him to say that he and Santana, and Santana says Eddie may have a point about him. Santana says that maybe they should focus more on himself and Ortiz than on him after he asks Jericho when he truly last had their back.

Backstage, Alex Marvez interviews Adam Cole, who takes the microphone from Alex and tells him to leave before saying he has done everything he could to Orange Cassidy for being a thorn in his side before challenging him to a Lights Out Match next week. He says he cannot stand looking at Orange Cassidy any longer and that he plans to end his career.

We see a video package for CM Punk vs. Shawn Spears, which is coming up next.

CM Punk beats Shawn Spears with a single GTS shortly after MJF guests on commentary for the match. After the match, MJF tries to sneak up on Punk, but Punk catches him out and grabs him by the scarf. MJF ducks out of his scarf and runs away.

Backstage, Billy Gunn meets with Christian Cage for a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championships. Christian says his sons have talent, but when the lights are brightest, he cannot get that win. He tells Billy to make a statement, and then they can talk. When Billy grabs him, Christian pushes his arm away only to be attacked from behind by Austin and Colten Gunn, and Austin says "Statement made."

"The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes heads to the ring, which has a giant ladder in it. Cody says he is reminded from the last match of CM Punk's "Pipebomb" promo, then says that Punk laid out a roadmap of things that were taboo at the time, such as working with other companies and teaming with The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson). He says that Punk would eventually do these things in AEW in what would be "the comeback of the decade," yet in his absence, somebody did do every one of those things: him. Cody says he held every grain of that revolution in his hands and people cheered, and says he will not turn heel because people cheered when he needed them the most. On the subject of "The Forbidden Door," he was the one who built it, then says that in the two weeks he was gone, The Young Bucks nearly started the Wednesday Night Wars all over again, Ricky Starks started a fight with Jay Lethal, and Brody King had the balls to show up. Cody also mentions the TNT Championship title picture, saying there are no "secondary belts" in AEW and yet they have a secondary TNT Champion, and announces that the undisputed TNT Champion will be determined in a ladder match.

Tony Schiavone interviews John Silver, Anna Jay, "Smart' Mark Sterling and Jade Cargill. Anna Jay has challenged Jade Cargill for the TBS Championship. Sterling says he and Jade are thrilled to accept this challenge. John Silver says Anna Jay will win the TBS Championship, and Anna Jay says she will do anything it takes to win a match before asking Jade if she is willing to do the same.

The Kings of the Black Throne (Malakai Black and Brody King) beat The Varsity Blonds (Griff Garrison and Brian Pillman Jr.). After the match, Malakai Black asks that the members of The House of Black rise before PAC shows up on the video screen to state that he has found a new vision and purpose, and that he sees Malakai as just the same as every other cretin in AEW: self-obsessed and power-hungry. PAC says that he will not bow down and call Malakai Black "master," then says he will leave a mark with him as he pulls down his blindfold.

We see a video package regarding the return of Lance Archer.

Backstage, Brandon Cutler records a video message for Trent Barretta and Rocky Romero. Romero challenges The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) to a match against a re-united Roppongi Vice.

Lance Archer beats Frankie Kazarian. After the match, Tony Schiavone interviews Dan Lambert. Lambert takes the microphone and mocks "Hangman" Adam Page for his age and saying he is not mentally or physically prepared for Archer. Archer says "Enough of this cowboy bullshit," then says he is going to show what he will do to Adam Page by tossing Kazarian out of the ring before attempting a choke slam into a chair. Adam Page shows up and has a staredown with Archer before slapping him in the face. Both men exchange blows and Adam Page hits him with a cowboy boot, then Page clotheslines Archer out of the ring.

Backstage, Alex Marvez interviews Dante Martin, Lee Moriarty and Matt Sydal. Dante says that Sydal has been like a brother to him and that he has his and Moriarty's backs. Moriarty says they will do the same for him. We then hear from Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs. Starks tells Dante that nobody is his friends and that he is all alone. Hobbs tells Dante to get someone who will watch him everywhere, because Team Taz builds assassins.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews Kris Statlander and Red Velvet. Suddenly, "Legit" Leyla Hirsch trash talks Kris Statlander for losing tonight at and Rampage and costing her and Red Velvet thousands of dollars. Red Velvet says it was miscommunication, but when she turns around, Leyla attacks her before attacking Statlander.

Serena Deeb beats Skye Blue with the Serenity Lock.

We hear from Dan Lambert and The Men of the Year (Scorpio Sky and "All Ego" Ethan Page). Ethan Page tells Jon Moxley not to let his fashion fool him, because he is up to the task for a challenge, as he has been climbing up the ranks while he was away.

We see a video package for Hook.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews The Hardy Family Office. Hardy says he has sold 51% of the group to Andrade el Idolo and that he will maintain the majority of seats as CEO while Andrade becomes President. He also says that the HFO will be the "AHFO," and Andrade makes it known that he is trying to recruit Darby Allin.

We see black-and-white footage of Anthony Bowens as Darby Allin and some guy dressed up as Sting running into Bowens with a car before being hit with a baseball bat by "Platinum" Max Caster.

Sting and Darby Allin beat The Acclaimed ("Platinum" Max Caster and Anthony Bowens. Before the match begins, The Acclaimed attack Darby Allin and Sting before wrapping a chair around Darby's neck and sending him into the ring post, causing Darby to suffer an injury and be taken to the back, effectively making the match a two-on-one handicap match for a time. Darby eventually comes back after sailing over the crowd and knocking Caster off the ring steps with a flying shoulder tackle.
