Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for February 23, 2022

Kyle O'Reilly last eliminates Matt Jackson as Matt Jackson eliminates John Silver to win the tag team battle royal to make ReDragon (Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly) the new #1 contenders for the AEW World Tag Team Championships. Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus and Christian Cage watch the match from the stage at the start of the show. After the match, ReDragon and The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) argue only for "Hangman" Adam Page to get in the ring and right ReDragon. The Young Bucks stand there and watch Page beat them up before leaving, then Adam Cole gets in the ring. Adam Cole tries to superkick Page, but Page fights him off. The Elite and ReDragon help Cole out of the ring before Page can hit the Buckshot Lariat, then John Silver takes both teams out and throws O'Reilly into the ring so that Page can hit the Buckshot Lariat. Page recalls Adam Cole's story of how he became world champion everywhere he went, then says that Cole joined The Elite when he saw the writing on the wall and his world crumbling around him. He says that Adam Cole kept his eye on the AEW World Championship never realizing he was moving closer to a six-foot hole in the ground and fell into the grave so he could lay him down in it at Revolution.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews Bryan Danielson, who says Daniel Garcia reminds him of a younger version of himself, yet hangs out with 2point0 (Jeff Parker and Matt Lee) and would be at a much different level if he hung out with him or Jon Moxley. On the subject of Jon Moxley, he will give him his answer tonight.

MJF heads to the ring. MJF says he used to love CM Punk and that while he gets why people are booing him, then mentions the photograph of him with Punk from years ago and says that professional wrestling got him out of a tough time and that photo meant everything to him. He talks about his litany of learning disabilities such as severe attention deficit disorder that made school hell for him, then mentions that he was good at sports and how he made the school football team only to not be accepted by his teammates. MJF then mentions one time when he walked down the hallway at school and his teammates threw rolls of quarters at him and said, "Pick it up, Jew boy, pick it up." He then mentions the autograph signing on that Friday where he met CM Punk. MJF says that he promised himself that he would be like his hero CM Punk and become the best in the world. He then talks about how later in life, he still wanted to be a professional wrestler. He mentions that CM Punk left the fans - and especially him - and him when he needed him most, and he ended up killing his dreams and going to college until he saw a picture of CM Punk shaking hands with Bryan Danielson on the Internet. MJF says he was livid and promised that he would become the best in the world in spite of CM Punk and that he would not leave someone who was just like him in high school like Punk did. He then says that Punk can do whatever he wants to him at Revolution, but he will not quit, for if he quits, he will be no better than CM Punk. Punk shows up and asks "Is it true? Is it real?" MJF says "It's true." A tear falls down MJF's cheek as he leaves.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews 2point0 (Jeff Parker and Matt Lee) and Daniel Garcia. Jeff Parker and Matt Lee are angry with Bryan Danielson wanting to be Garcia's mentor and say he will get a taste of violence tonight, and Garcia says violence is the one thing he does not need to learn.

The Death Triangle (PAC and Penta Oscura) beat The Kings of the Black Throne (Malakai Black and Brody King) after Penta Oscura stops Malakai Black from spitting his black mist by covering his mouth. (Penta Oscura is a darker version of Penta el Zero Miedo, similar to Pentagon Dark from Lucha Underground.) After the match, Brody King attacks The Death Triangle as Malakai Black chokes on his own black mist. Malakai grabs a shovel and gets the taste of his own mist out of his mouth. As he is about to hit Penta with the shovel, the lights go out. When they come back on Buddy Matthews - formerly Buddy Murphy in WWE - is in the ring. Malakai Black is spooked as soon as he seeds Buddy Matthews, then Buddy Matthews attacks PAC and Penta. Brody King levels the security detail as they run down the ramp. Brody King then throws a chair into the ring, and Buddy holds Penta down before stomping Penta face-first into the chair at the behest of Malakai. Buddy then stands side by side with the Kings of the Black Throne. The lights go out, and when they come back on, they are gone.

We see a video package for the contract signing for Thunder Rosa vs. Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. for the AEW Women's World Championship at Revolution on Rampage.

Eddie Kingston heads to the ring, followed by Chris Jericho moments later. Four security guards also stand in the ring. Kingston admits he does not like Jericho and is amazed security is in the ring, but Jericho says they are here so they can talk and not fight like common street thugs. Kingston says that since Jericho does not want to fight him, he would rather have Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale square off in the ring right now. He also says AEW is a wrestling company, not a sports entertainment company like the one down the block. Jericho says that when he heard about Eddie Kingston was coming to AEW, everybody was excited except for him, as he did not know who Eddie Kingston was, saying Kingston looked like "a jobber." After seeing him in action, however, he saw how good Eddie Kingston was and raved about him a few days later. Jericho then mentions Kingston signing to AEW, but says he did not give a shit about him or his "sob story" because Kingston was jealous of him. He says that Kingston hit the big time at 38 years old, and Jericho says that when he was at that age, he had been in the big time for years and did just about everything. He also says Kingston is jealous because he will never accomplish everything he did. Kingston says Jericho did all that he did because he was not there, and says that he is a different king of person and does not leech off people or suck up to the promoters, preferring to do things his way. Kingston says his blood is too tough for Jericho and that his heart does not pump Kool-Aid, and says he would rather fight him at Revolution than talk to him. Jericho says Kingston fears success and is terrified to make it to the top because he knows he would fall to the other side, because his uncle and father were both his heroes but became failures. He also says Kingston cannot win "the big one." Jericho then says he is "the big one" in AEW, and if Kingston wants a match with him at Revolution, he has got it. He then says that if Kingston manages to beat him then, he will look him in the eye, shake his hand, and tell him he has his respect. Kingston warns Jericho not to give him the Jericho in "the mimosa match" or the Jericho that got pushed off a cage in MJF, and tells him to give him the trailblazing Jericho that turned World Championship Wrestling upside-down and Paul Levesque hated, or he will eat him alive. Jericho says he will get that and so much more, then says that Kingston does not believe he can beat him and win the big one and that he is nothing more than a loser and always will be.

Backstage, Matt Hardy talks with Andrade el Idolo. Andrade says he does not need anybody in his corner to win, but he will win and have his back. Matt then proposes that Andrade and Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) take on Sting, Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin at Revolution.

"Absolute" Ricky Starks beats Preston "10" Vance to qualify for the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match after pulling on the back of 10's mask and hitting the Spear for the win.

Backstage, we hear from Adam Cole and ReDragon. The Young Bucks confront ReDragon for double-crossing them, but Matt Jackson says they have another shot next week and they will beat them at the pay-per-view. After The Young Bucks leave, Adam Cole demands that ReDragon get along with The Young Bucks, as they are all a team.

Jade Cargill retains the TBS Championship against The Bunny after blocking a shot from the knuckles - brought into the match by Matt Hardy as he distracts referee Aubrey Edwards - with the TBS Championship - brought into the match by "Smart" Mark Sterling - and reversing Down The Rabbit Hole into Jaded after Hardy and Sterling are both ejected from ringside for introducing the knuckles and the TBS Championship into the match as weapons. After the match, Tony Schiavone interviews Jade Cargill, who takes the microphone and asks "Who's next?" and "Who's left?" Suddenly, Tay Conti shows up. Tay Conti tells Jade Cargill "I'm the one who's gonna beat your ass, bitch!" She then runs into the ring and has a stardown with Jade, who kisses her on the forehead. The Bunny gets in the ring, but Tay hits her with the Tay-KO. Jade then lays Tay out with a pump kick before leaving the ring as Anna Jay enters the ring with a chair.

Backstage, Alex Marvez interviews Keith Lee, who says that he is familiar with Ricky Starks. Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs show up, and Starks tells him that Team Taz runs things in AEW and that he should "stay in his lane." Hobbs stares down Keith Lee, but Starks says that they will save this for Revolution.

Bryan Danielson beats Daniel Garcia with a triangle sleeper after kicking his head in. After the match, Bryan Danielson says he got what he wanted to see out of Daniel Garcia, then 2point0 (Jeff Parker and Matt Lee) attack him from behind. Suddenly, Jon Moxley shows up and clotheslines them out of the ring. Garcia tries to hit Moxley from behind with a chair, but Moxley levels him with the Paradigm Shift before staring down Danielson. Danielson then takes the microphone and says that he does not need a chair to make anybody bleed, and if Moxley wants a match with him at Revolution, he has it. He then tells him not to be surprised if he is the only person bleeding.

MJF quickly beats Bryce Donovan. After the match, Shawn Spears tosses Donovan out of the ring, then MJF says Boston, Massachusetts is the "absolute shithole" he remembers it being last time and that they were lucky to see him in action. He says he would not do anything with any of the women in Boston, makes fun of everyone's mothers, then says Darby Allin he made a mistake when he said he was not worth of the AEW World title and threw the gauntlet down by saying he could not break Darby mentally. He then says Darby is scared of him and brags about knocking Sting out with the Dynamite Diamond Ring, then says that with Darby out of his hair, there is nothing stopping him from his destiny of becoming the future World Champion. Suddenly, Sting's entrance theme hits, but Sting doesn't show and MJF reveals it was a trick by him and Spears when he laughs, saying people from Massachusetts are "so dumb," before the arena lights go out. During the match, Tony Nese is seen watching from the front row. After the match, Ethan attacks Guevara from behind, and when Guevara fights back, Scorpio Sky runs into the ring and attacks Guevara until the rest of The Inner Circle runs in and chases Scorpio and Ethan away. Jericho calls out Scorpio and Ethan for ganging up on Guevara after the match, and says that while Scorpio has beaten his twice, the last person of prominence Ethan has beaten is himself in his hotel room. This starts a "Beat Your Meat!" chant in the crowd, then Jericho says there will be a ten-man tag match at Full Gear between The Inner Circle and team of Scorpio, Ethan and American Top Team, and that thanks to Tony Khan, it will be a Minneapolis Street Fight. He then tells Scorpio and Ethan to tell "that pumpkin-headed dipshit" to be there so The Inner Circle can see who they will make "MMA meatsicles" before paraphrasing "Sweet Emotion" when he says The Inner Circle will win.

Backstage, Tony Schiavone interviews Bryan Danielson and Eddie Kingston. Eddie tells he has to take a Zoloft every day so he doesn't have depression that turns into crushing anger that causes him to get locked up. After saying he is done talking and done listening, Eddie leaves, and Danielson says that this is the Eddie he wants to leave and that he and many others have gone through what he has gone through and has worked his way up. He says that Eddie has worked his ass off and is one of the hardest workers he has ever faced, but in the World Title Eliminator Tournament, he will beat him.

Cody says he hears everyone and says that while he beat Malakai Black with a Tiger Driver '98, he considered hitting a different move for a brief moment and wonders what would have happened if he had hit that move. He then says he did not hit that move because it would have been too easy and would have been "the easy way out," and tells the fans that they can do whatever they want, but if they want to boo, they should "boo the true narrative." Cody says you can hate the man who signs the checks but you cannot hate the man who built the bank, then throws his shoes in the audience and tells them to put themselves in his shoes. After talking about the family that he has been blessed with, he says the easy way out is not the way and that he will not turn because he has always loved the fans, and if he "went Hollywood" on anyone, he apologizes to those who thought that he did. Cody then tells Arn Anderson that it is "a damn honor" to stand in the ring with him and that he was right. Suddenly, Andrade and Jose - the latter in a neck brace - show up. He says that the people do not like Cody and that he himself does not like the people, and that Cody made stupid choices including his neck tattoo and getting in his business. Andrade says that he can make Cody his "little bitch," then the lights go out. When they come back on, Malakai Black is in the ring. Malakai spits the black mist in Cody's face, then he, Andrade and Jose attack Arn Anderson and Cody Rhodes. He says AEW is All Elite Wrestling for a reason, as guys like The Elite are the building blocks of the place and the state of the wrestling world is due to guys like them. In backstage footage from earlier today, Tony Schiavone interviews Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D., who is now at #1 in the rankings. Britt says it is time to remind everyone why she is the face of the women's division.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring to moderate the parlay between The Pinnacle and The Inner Circle. Both teams show up, The Pinnacle first, followed by The Inner Circle, with their own security details. As Tony Schiavone is about to do the coin toss, Shawn Spears takes the microphone and says there will be no coin toss, as The Pinnacle were lured into the match. He then says that it does not look good for The Inner Circle. Spears then tells Sammy Guevara that he has not wrestled in some time and that Chris Jericho is leading him into deep water that he will drown him in when he stomps him into it. Guevara says he does not trust Spears, as he has been a failure both in AEW and WWE and he will fail again at Blood & Guts before saying he will start the match and fight everybody. Cash Wheeler tells Santana and Ortiz not to be "soft, complacent Jericho lap dogs" at Blood & Guts, or else they will not make it out, and Dax Harwood says that he has come to terms with a potential career shortening before telling The Inner Circle they will be entering his world. He also tells Santana and Ortiz to love their families in the days leading to Blood & Guts, and to tell their kids that they may not make it back home. Santana says that his hands will do the talking, and MJF asks everyone to act as gentlemen. MJF thanks Jericho for being one of the driving forces behind AEW and some of the things in it, then says he cannot imagine the pressure Jericho must feel, for he puts the company on the line and has to hit a home run every time he heads to the ring. MJF also says Jericho is exhausted and that heavy is the head that wears the crown, and at Blood & Guts, he will take Jericho's crown while The Pinnacle replaces The Inner Circle at the mountaintop. He then says that when all is said is done and he takes Jericho's spot, he will once again thanks Jericho. Jericho calls MJF a prick for thinking he can just inherit a spot, telling him he has to earn it and learn respect at a young age like he did. Those Dynamite Kids - Dynamite recap for May 20, 2020

The show starts with The Inner Circle coming out of a black limousine and being interviewed by Alex Marvez. Chris Jericho says that if you thought what they did to Vanguard-1 was bad, what they will do to The Elite will be even worse.

Before the next match, Brodie Lee addresses the fans at home after asking 10 to take a proper knee, saying that he does relate to the fans, as he sweats and put his pants on the same way they do. He says that it may be hard to fathom, but he is a man, not a god, who has come into possession with a "very, very special piece." He then says that that the difference between the Dark Order of then and the Dark Order of now is that he operates at a higher, elite level and that the Dark Order of now are "the lions of AEW," and that the results speak for themselves. He says that come Saturday, he has to win not only to satisfy his hunger and desire, but to pay off the loyalty and love of his men in the Dark Order. Brodie Lee then tells 10 that he knew that he was special, and that now is his time to shine. He calls him "a high knight of the Dark Order," then orders him to rise and hurt Jon Moxley for him.

Jon Moxley beats 10. After the match, Moxley rips off 10's left elbow pad, puts 10's left arm through a steel chair, then admits while he does not understand the message behind Brodie Lee stealing the AEW World Championship, he sees it as a punk-out and he will give Brodie Lee ten seconds to come out and correct his mistake before he breaks 10's arm. Brodie Lee shows up on the video screen, telling Moxley he has made his bed and that he will put him to sleep on Saturday. He says that all Moxley had to do was ask to have it back, and that Moxley has made it personal. He says that in these times, everybody has to make sacrifice, then says he is leaving with the Dark Order, sacrificing 10 in the process. Moxley says he will see Brodie Lee on Saturday, then smacks the steel chair wrapped around 10's arm with another steel chair.

MJF beats Marko Stunt with The Salt of the Earth. After the match, MJF congratulates Marko Stunt for lasting much longer than he thought they would, then proposes letting one of his rats kiss him before saying that nobody in the world would ever touch Marko's lips. Wardlow then picks Marko up so that Marko can kiss the Dynamite diamond ring, and MJF punches Marko in the face, knocking him down. Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus then run into the ring and chase MJF and Wardlow out.

Jake Roberts and Arn Anderson - the latter of whom has not been seen in months - set down at a table for a face-to-face meeting moderated by Tony Schiavone. Roberts says it is surreal to sit across the table from Anderson, as they have crossed paths through the years but never in the ring. He is also not used to seeing Anderson show up alone, either. He says that people have dreams and nightmares, and while those are not real, Lance Archer is and he has destroyed everyone put in front of him. He says that "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes has "wormed his way around" to stay away from Archer, but he will have to come face-to-face with the truth that Archer is a "mean son-of-a-bitch who will rip his damn heart out." He then makes fun of the fact that Anderson has not been seen in months. Anderson says that Roberts almost made him believe him, and ponders what would have happened if they got in the ring years ago, and says they are so credible that if they told someone a pissant could pull a freight train, they would hook it up. He says that he can feel the evil in him that used to frighten people permeate from across the table, and he knew way back when that what is in his heart is what should be worried about. Roberts says he has been to Hell and back and that one more trip with him wouldn't be so bad. Anderson mentions "Iron" Mike Tyson is going to not only present the AEW TNT Championship, but that he may have free reign around the arena and questions if Robert will throw Archer at Tyson. Roberts says that whatever he throws at Tyson will knock him down, and that Archer is willing to knock Tyson out for fun and that he can do it. He then says that he expected Brandi Rhodes to present the title, and says he wouldn't mind running into her again. Anderson says that "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes has to win the TNT Championship, not because he is a member of the Rhodes family, but because he has turned the wrestling world on its head in a year's time and made it what it is now, and that his leadership is being recognized and he has earned it. He also warns Roberts that he is "a vicious prick," and that he has one more tidbit of information. He tells Roberts that he had better be limber from his DDP Yoga when he plants him into the mat with a spinebuster and stick his head where the sun doesn't shine. Roberts overturns the table and wants to brawl with Anderson, but referees get between them and Roberts eventually leaves.

We see a black-and-white video package of Darby Allin climbing a ladder and playing poker with other people wearing masks that look like the faces of other AEW wrestlers.

We hear from PAC, who says that nobody is safe in these times. He says that while he has been forced to stay home and weather the storm, he no longer has to walk this path, and says that tonight is the night that Orange Cassidy will get over himself when Rey Fenix kicks his head off and sends him to his maker.

Rey Fenix beats Orange Cassidy. During the match, "Superbad" Kip Sabian shows up with a ladder, places it on the ramp, and climbs up to the top of the ladder to sit down and watch the match. This distracts Orange Cassidy and allows Fenix to hit a low blow behind the referee's back to get the win. After the match, Sabian flips Cassidy off, then Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky show up, test Sabian's adder for balance, then push the ladder down and topple Sabian off before fighting both Sabian and Jimmy Havoc, who has also shown up. Fenix then takes everyone else out on the outside, then Colt Cabana shows up and hits everyone with an Asai moonsault. Chuck Taylor and Trent then show up and check on Orange Cassidy before heling him take out everyone on the outside with an assisted Swanton Bomb. Cassidy then gives the thumbs up from the bottom of the ladder.

Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. and "The Native Beast" Nyla Rose beat Kris Statlander and Hikaru Shida. After the match, Nyla Rose pulls a table out form underneath the ring, sets it up, places Shida on top of it and goes up top. Statlander stops Nyla, and Shida gets off the table and goes up top to put Nyla through the table with a superplex.

Backstage, Alex Marvez interviews Jon Moxley, who says that in sports, business and life, everything is a reduction to violence, and that it only gets worse from here. He knows it will get very bad on Saturday when he hits Brodie Lee with a Paradigm Shift, and when Lee wakes up, he will have lost the match and the power he thinks he has, and all he will have is a three-piece suit and a bunch of guys in masks to repair his shattered ego.

Shawn Spears hosts "Shawn Spears News," and reports that "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes has decided to retire from professional wrestling at the behest of family and friends. He then congratulates "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes for his actions, then says that retirement was not an easy pill for Dustin to swallow. He then says that swallowing pills wasn't all that hard for Dustin twelve years ago. Spears then asks why he does not have a match at Double or Nothing and asks himself who he has to piss off to get a match, and quickly realizes that he challenge Dustin to a match at Double or Nothing before joking that one can find Dustin at their local museum. The match is quickly made official.

Next week: a battle royal where the winner faces the AEW TNT Champion!

Matt Hardy beats Sammy Guevara. After the match, Chris Jericho appears on the video screen with The Inner Circle, who are tossing water on Kenny Omega and holding him down in front of a football goal post. Jericho then hits Omega with a baseball bat as Matt Hardy heads towards the stadium, then The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) show up and lay waste to The Inner Circle. This does not last long, and The Inner Circle turns the tables until the sudden reappearance of "Hangman" Adam Page, who runs across the stadium and hammers members of The Inner Circle, allowing The Young Bucks to get back into the fight. Matt Hardy shows up just in time for The Inner Circle to retreat.
