Generation NXT 2.0 - NXT 2.0 recap for February 8, 2022

The show starts with a video package for Kay Lee Ray vs. Mandy Rose for the NXT Women's Championship.

The Creed Brothers (Julius and Brutus Creed) beat Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson and James Drake) to advance to the finals of the men's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic despite Grizzed Young Veterans hurting Brutus Creed's throat.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Cora Jade, who says she is excited to team with Raquel Gonzalez and make a lot of noise in the women's Dusty Classic. Suddenly, Valentina Feroz and Yulisa Leon show up, but Raquel shows up to argue with them in Spanish.

In backstage footage from earlier today, Amari Miller and Wendy Choo show up with several shopping bags, and Wendy Choo throws away Tiffany Stratton's credit card, which has been cancelled.

Tiffany Stratton beats Wendy Choo.

In backstage footage from last week, Draco Anthony is approached by Joe Gacy and Harland. Gacy says Draco should not be disappointed with his loss, as he gave it his all and he does not have to do it all by himself. Gacy says he is here to listen to both his actions and his words, then bids him a good night before Harland stares down Draco.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Pete Dunne, who says Tony D'Angelo talks away too much and that he has stopped talking after being beaten by Cameron Grimes. He then says he will finish their business in a steel cage next week. Draco Anthony shows up and says that while D'Angelo may not respect him, he does, and says it is an honor to share the ring with him tonight. Dunne shrugs it off and says he is in the mood to snap his fingers before heading to the ring.

Pete Dunne beats Draco Anthony. During the match, Joe Gacy and Harland are seen on the balcony, which briefly distracts Draco. Later on, Tony D'Angelo shows up to hit Dunne with a crowbar, but Dunne sees it coming a mile away, dodges the crowbar and lays him out. After the match, Tony D'Angelo tries to choke out Pete Dunne on the ring apron, but Dunne snaps his fingers and pulls out some weapons from underneath the ring. Dunne then grabs his cricket bat and tells him he will need more than a crowbar at Vengeance Day, then proposes that they weaponize their steel cage match with everything they can find. D'Angelo accepts the proposition.

Backstage, Zoey Stark talks with Io Shirai about the women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and says that they need to find someone who is about as crazy as Io Shirai is to tag with her to win the NXT Women's tag titles they were never pinned for. Io says she is in it to win and that she has an idea of who to find, but she is not talking.

Backstage, Wendy Choo runs into Dakota Kai, who looks at Wendy's new wardrobe and tells her that it won't buy her victories in the ring.

LA Knight beats Sanga. After the match, LA Knight beats up Grayson Waller when Grayson gets in the ring.

Backstage, McKenzie Mitchell interviews Duke Hudson. He says he has not seen Dante Chen and that calling him out and actually calling him out are two different worlds. He says Dante Chen is out here for a reason before wishing Indi Hartwell luck in winning tag team gold.

Wade Barrett moderates a championship summit between Santos Escobar - who is already in the ring with Legado del Fantasma (Joaquin Wilde, Raul Mendoza, Elektra Lopez) - and Bron Breakker, who is introduced to the ring by Barrett. Breakker says that he respects Escobar, but at Vengeance Day, he will beat Escobar and there is not a thing he can do about it. He also proposes they flip the table and start fighting like with all contract signings, but Escobar says he would not expect a different answer from someone so new, so young and so naive, for he is pulling all the strings. Escobar says that he also plans to end Breakker's career and future before they even start, then Dolph Ziggler suddenly shows up. Ziggler sits down at the table and says he is a big fan of Breakker before saying he works Tuesdays and asking Breakker who he is. Breakker says he is the reason Ziggler is here and that he will take care of him after Escobar. Ziggler says Breakker is making a big mistake looking past Escobar to him before mentioning his accolades and stating that the NXT Championship is not among them. He says that he does not have to be better or stronger than Breakker - which he is - and that all he has to do is be in Breakker's head when Tommaso Ciampa shows up. Ciampa says Ziggler as NXT Champion is a hard pass for him and tells Ziggler that while he loves his spirit, then Escobar wants to know what is going on before calling Breakker and Ciampa "frenemies" and saying Ziggler is only here over a mean tweet. Escobar threatens to deal with both Breakker and Ciampa, but Ciampa threatens to beat him up if he interrupts him again and get next in line for the NXT Championship unless Ziggler has a problem with it. Ziggler says the fans clap their hands like seals no matter what Ciampa does and that Ciampa acts like NXT is his home before asking it will end. Ciampa boots Ziggler in the head and brawls with him on the outside. Back in the ring, Legado del Fantasma attack Bron Brakker, but Breakker fights back. Breakker nearly puts Escobar through the table, but Mendoza and Wilde put Breakker through it instead. Escobar then tells Breakker that everything happens on his time and that this is him time, then tells him he will see him next week.

We hear from Kay Lee Ray, who says Mandy Rose could have made it easier on herself last week, but now she will make her suffer and that it will all be over when she wins the NXT Women's Championship while smashing glassware with her bat.

Backstage, we hear from Grayson Waller and Sanga. Grayson says LA Knight made a mistake breaking the restraining order and that Knight will be going to jail next week.

Sarray beats Dakota Kai.

We see Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams at a barber shop. Everybody at the shop agrees that Cameron Grimes does not have a chance against Carmelo.

Backstage, Indi Hartwell calls Dexter Lumis, then Persia Pirotta shows up and mentions Duke Hudson wishing Indi luck next week. Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne show up and mention that Duke Hudson used to be friends with Indi, which starts a brawl between both teams. Referees rush in to restore order.

We see another vignette for Nikkita Lyons, where Nikkita Lyons says she is good at kicking ass and ended up being the one picking fights because she knew she could finish them before sending a warning to the locker room.

Backstage, Brooks Jensen tries to ask Kayden Carter out for a date, but accidentally gets Josh Briggs involved and turns it into a double date, much to Briggs' chagrin.

MSK (Nash Carter and Wes Lee) beats Malik Blade and Edris Enofe to advance to the finals of the men's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. After the match, MSK and The Creed Brothers have a staredown near the Dusty Cup.

We hear from Cameron Grimes, who talks about his rollercoaster ride through NXT and coming out a self-made man. He then says he has gotten everything he has ever wanted except for championship gold. He says that Carmelo Hayes may be on the fast track, but 2022 is his year and he is ready to go to the moon.

Backstage, Dakota Kai is met by Wendy Choo, who asks "Not as easy as it looks, is it?" before walking away with her wardrobe.

Backstage, Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta attack Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne as they accompany Mandy Rose to the ring.

Mandy Rose retains the NXT Women's Championship after Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne - who are supposed to be escorted out of the building - distract the referee. During the match, McKenzie Mitchell reports that Gigi Dolin, Jacy Jayne, Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta have all been escorted out of the building. After the match, Gigi and Jacy hold Kay Lee Ray down while Mandy threatens her with her own bat. Io Shirai shows up and fends off all three members of Toxic Attraction to make the save for Kay Lee Ray. When Mandy gets her hands on Io Shirai, Kay Lee Ray hits her with the KLR Bomb, and Gigi and Jacy have to help Mandy to safety.
