Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown Live recap for July 30, 2019

In footage from earlier today, Shane McMahon announces he will not be part of SmackDown Live tonight, and blames his absence on Kevin Owens. He says that tonight was supposed to be his payback, but his life coach has told him that he should get his emotions in check and that he has gotten the match with Owens that he wants. He says Owens' career is over and that Owens will call him the better man before quitting.

Kevin Owens shows up. He asks that nobody panic, for while Shane McMahon is not here tonight, everyone can get through the night together. He reassures Shane that him not being here is great news, as SmackDown Live can be about the talent and not Shane's "stupid face." He then tells Shane to bring his "stupid face" and his entire "stupid body" to SummerSlam, as he is not going to quit because he will beat him so badly that he will realize he does not belong in the ring with people like him. Owens says that while this may not stop Shane from showing up, it will ensure that this is "The Kevin Owens Show" and his ring, not Shane's. Suddenly, Drew McIntyre shows up. McIntyre tells Owens "You talk too much," then tells Owens he has a match against him tonight before smacking him with the microphone with a cheap shot before tossing Owens around. McIntyre then tells Owens that the match is happening right now.

Kevin Owens beats Drew McIntyre.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler does not care if anybody is upset about his actions, and says Mick Foley got decimated by Bray Wyatt because he did not belong in a ring, that we have seen Goldberg's last match, and that "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels made a mistake putting his hands on him. While Seth Rollins got his hands on him, Lesnar beat the hell out him, and at SummerSlam, he goes one-on-one with The Miz. As for tonight, his opponent Finn Balor is stuck at the past, and he is the future.

Backstage, Bayley meets with Ember Moon. Even though Ember hit her with a Eclipse, they are teaming together and will get through tonight. She then warns her she will regret it if she tries something again, however.

We hear from Aleister Black, who says he cannot help but think he is different, and that his redemption lies in the blood of his soul. He says his benediction and salvation lies in strife, and that is comes from anybody wanting to pick a fight with him. He found it in Cesaro, but he now wants to know how to move on from here, for he is in his self-imposed prison waiting for another fight.

Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross beat Bayley and Ember Moon. After the match, Bayley helps Ember Moon, then hits her with the Bayley-to-Belly.

Backstage, Sarah Schreiber interviews Sami Zayn. Sami is here scoping out the competition, but all he sees is people complaining and feeling sorry for themselves, then says Aleister Black is in the most pain, saying he is begging for help after failing to live up to his own hype. Sami goes on to say that Aleister stays in the dark for fear that his illusion would come crumbling down, and that he has decided to beat Aleister Black and expose him, ending his hype at SummerSlam.

It is announced that "The Big Show Show" will be coming soon to Netflix.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews "The New" Daniel Bryan and Rowan, but Daniel and Rowan walk away before Daniel makes his career-altering announcement.

It's time for The King's Court. Tonight's guest is Trish Stratus. The two of them talk about Raw Reunion, then talks about how all the Legends wished they had one last match. On that subject, Trish is about to answer whether or not she wants that match when Charlotte Flair shows up. Charlotte says it is a disgrace to hold a King's Court without a proper queen, then asks why she is not booked for SummerSlam. She then calls Trish's motherhood an excuse not to face her at SummerSlam, then challenges her to a match. Trish doesn't respond, and Charlotte Flair says she expected more of a competitive fire from her before chalking it up to Trish thinking she cannot hang with her, and tells her to get out of her ring and go back to changing diapers. Trish laughs, and while she respects Charlotte Flair, she is "just being a bitch." She tells Charlotte there would be no trail to blaze if it were not for her, Lita, Ivory, Beth Phoenix or Jacqueline. She also says that to be the woman, you've got to beat the woman, and if she wants her match at SummerSlam, she's got it.

Backstage, The O.C. brag about all the championship gold that they have, then Styles says that Kofi Kingston will find out why SmackDown Live is the house that he built.

It's time for Firefly Fun House. Ramblin' Rabbit welcomes us to the show by telling us how much of a big fan he is of Finn Balor. He runs away as Bray Wyatt shows up, and Bray Wyatt laughs before saying "Let me in." We then see "The Fiend" before the scene cuts to black.

Dolph Ziggler beats Finn Balor. During the match, the lights go out. Bray Wyatt - as "The Fiend" - shows up, then the lights come back on and The Fiend disappears. When the lights come back on, Ziggler hits Sweet Chin Music for the win.

Ali beats Shinsuke Nakamura after stacking him up to counter the Kinshasa.

We see a video package of Randy Orton and Kofi Kingston's championship meeting in 2009, with Orton saying he had to be himself while Kofi had to be something he wasn't. After stating that Kofi was sent back to the bottom after stepping up to his left, Orton then says Kofi had an opportunity earlier this year because of how he injured Ali. He says there is no "Kofimania" without him, and says he has not even gotten a "thank you" due to Kofi's entire reign being based on a fluke. He calls Kofi challenging him at SummerSlam "stupid." He then says he will take the WWE Championship from his waist with the RKO.

Backstage, Kayla Braxton interviews Kofi Kingston. Xavier Woods and Big E join Kofi to handle the interview from there, and Kofi says that last time he checked, SmackDown Live is now "the palace of positivity" and not the house that "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles built.

Kofi Kingston beats "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles as The New Day (Xavier Woods and Big E) and The O.C. (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) go at it at ringside.

Backstage, someone tries to dump stage rigging and boxes onto Roman Reigns, but Roman is able to walk away under his own power.

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!
