Generation NXT - NXT recap for July 31, 2019

Tyler Breeze beats Jaxson Ryker with a roll-up. After the match, The Forgotten Sons (Jaxson Ryker, Steve Cutler, Wesley Blake) surround Breeze, who tries to fight back only to fall victim to the numbers game. Before Ryker can powerbomb Breeze, Fandango shows up after being on the shelf for months and fends them off to save Breeze.

Candice LeRae is seen waiting for Io Shirai in the parking lot.

Cameron Grimes beats Bronson Reed to advance to the finals of the NXT Breakout Tournament.

In footage from earlier today, Matt Riddle tells Killian Dain to fight him face-to-face if he wants to make an impact, so he can return the favor. That match will happen next week.

"The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler shows up. She calls out Mia Yim, saying she got her message, and tells her that this is not the street and that they are professional fighters. She says Mia Yim has already lost, for this is the biggest professional stage of her career and she plans to put her to sleep. Baszler says street rats don't survive in her world for very long, then Mia Yim shows up. Mia asks Baszler is she is scared, then asks what happened to Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir, saying she has everything to gain and nothing to lose and ready to bring a fight she can't train for. Baszler tells Mia she isn't special, and that everyone will see that she is nothing but street trash.

In the parking lot, General Manager William Regal tells Candice LeRae that Io Shirai has been barred from the building tonight. Candice tells Regal she wants a match with Shirai at TakeOver. Regal tells her she's got her match, then tells her to go home. She does.

Next week: Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) and The Undisputed Era (Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly) sign their contract for their tag team title match at NXT TakeOver: Toronto!

Pete Dunne beats Roderick Strong by submission via joint manipulation. After the match, Velveteen Dream shows up, but Pete Dunne catches him sneaking up from behind. Strong tells Dream that the North American title is his after TakeOver, then Velveteen Dream poses only to fall victim to the Bitter End.
