Generation NXT - NXT recap for July 17, 2019

Matt Riddle beats Arturo Ruas with the MMA-style ground and pound. (Arturo Ruas has previously competed in NXT under the name Adrian Jaoude.) After the match, a masked man runs into the ring and attacks Riddle. The masked man is none other than Killian Dain, who proceeds to decimate Riddle and smash him through the stage with a running senton.

Street Profits host a special edition of Street Talk, who tell Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly that they are the top team in NXT before daring them to face them for the tag team titles.

In footage from last Saturday, Mia Yim is seen attacking Marina Shafir in a parking lot.

Bronson Reed beats Dexter Lumis to advance in the NXT Breakout Tournament.

In footage from earlier today, Cathy Kelly interviews Tyler Breeze, who says everyone seems have to have a group in NXT. Suddenly, The Forgotten Sons (Jaxson Ryker, Wesley Blake, Steve Cutler) show up. Steve Culter tell him that this is a new NXT, and when Breeze jokes around with Jaxson Ryker, Wesley Blake warns him that Ryker is a savage. Breeze says he has seen everything.

Next week: Kacy Catanzaro vs. Io Shirai!

KUSHIDA beats Apollo Crews with the Sakuraba Lock. Both men show respect after the match.

In footage from earlier today, Cathy Kelley interviews Keith Lee, who feels that he has been passed by for newer faces and that he should change the narrative in NXT, starting with Damian Priest.

Adam Cole shows up. Cole says he has been traveling all over the world on his championship tour for the past few weeks and showing everyone what a true champion and true power is. In that time, The Undisputed Era (Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong) has taken care of business like nobody else can. He states that a power switch is taking place in NXT, and that he is ready to put the NXT Championship on the line as a fighting champion. He then decides to put the title on the line tonight, and his opponent is none other than Johnny Gargano. After some footage of Johnny Gargano at his gym, we then hear from the guy who got a first-hand look at the NXT Championship in the footage: Twan Tucker, who shows up. Cole tells Tucker he has the opportunity of a lifetime, and it is just going to be the two of them in the ring with nobody else around. Tucker says he didn't come alone, and Gargano shows up. Gargano runs into the ring and fights with Cole, and the brawl makes its way into the crowd. Referees eventually rush out to stop the brawl. Gargano leaves, but then runs back out on the stage and dives at Cole before fighting him again. Cole goes for the Last Shot when they get back in the ring, but Gargano lays him out and makes him tap to Garga-No Escape. Referees have to pull Gargano off of Cole to break the hold.
