Layin' da SmackDown - SmackDown recap for May 23, 2025

Damian Priest attacks Drew McIntyre backstage at the start of the show, and security and officials quickly get involved.

Tiffany Stratton heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Tiffany talked about how she walked into Money in the Bank last year with all the hype in the world on her way to becoming WWE Women's Champion, and along the way, she beat some of the best, including Charlotte Flair and Nia Jax. She proclaims that in two weeks, somebody will have the same opportunity she had, but as she warns the potential winner what to expect if they cash in on her, Alexa Bliss shows up and heads to the ring. Alexa introduces herself and says she has had her eye on Tiffany since she beat Charlotte Flair, then tells her to pray that she does not win the briefcase, as she will make her downfall as quick as her ascent. Charlotte shows up, and claims to be the most humble 14-time women's champion in WWE history before congratulating Tiffany on beating her before telling her that her reign will not last forever. She says she has done everything in WWE except win Money in the Bank, and she plans to win it and take back the spotlight, as she takes what she wants. Tiffany calls out Charlotte's hypocrisy, quoting her as saying that the Money in the Bank briefcase is the easy way out and wants to know why she wants to qualify, then says both Alexa and Charlotte are "too vintage" for her, that they are the standard and that she is the upgrade, and that it will always be "Tiffy Time." Giulia then heads to the ring for the next match as Tiffany and Alexa leave.

Giulia beats Zelina Vega and Charlotte Flair in a Triple Threat Match to qualify for the women's Money in the Bank match after stomping Charlotte's recently repaired knee to break the Figure Eight before hitting Zelina with the Northern Lights Bomb.

Backstage, we hear from #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa). Ciampa says they made the SmackDown tag team division the best on the planet when they showed up, but he can feel The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) and The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) breathing down their necks. Gargano says The Motor City Machines have only ridden off their coattails Ciampa says they are your favorite tag team's tag team, then brings up the recent debut of Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom). Gargano says Fraxiom is another team conspiring against them. Ciampa says something needs to change, and that change comes tonight when he faces Chris Sabin tonight.

Backstage, Zelina Vega runs into Chelsea Green and her Secret Hervice (Piper Niven and Alba Fyre). When Chelsea mocks her for "being a loser despite being a champion," Zelina attacks her only to get outnumbered. Michin and B-Fab show up to even the numbers, then officials have to break the brawl up. General Manager Nick Aldis makes the brawl an official three-on-three match.

Tommaso Ciampa beats Chris Sabin thanks to the sudden return of Candice LeRae.

Backstage, Byron Saxton interviews Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom). Frazer says it has has been a wild night and tonight is the biggest night of their lives. Axiom says tonight is the night they could be champions, and while Street Profits are among the best, they are a stepping stone on their path to greatness. Frazer says they are not worried about what #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) has to say, and if they win tonight, they could make history.

Drew McIntyre and Damian Priest brawl again, this time brawling their way towards the ring. Security has to get involved once again, then Priest says he is getting his pound of flesh before breaking through security to get to McIntyre again.

Backstage, Jacob Fatu wants a word with Solo Sikoa, saying he does not trust JC Mateo because he is not blood or family, and that he does not like what Solo is trying to do, as he did not need their help at Backlash. Sikoa says this is the aggression he needs to see in tonight's match, and that he needs him and Mateo on the same page tonight.

Backstage, Charlotte Flair runs into Alexa Bliss. At first, Charlotte thinks she is talking to her, but she is really talking to her doll Lilly.

"Michin" Mia Yim and B-Fab beats The Secret Hervice (Piper Niven and Alba Fyre) after Zelina Vega puts a stop to the distraction from Chelsea Green.

Backstage, Byron Saxton interviews The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford). Dawkins says tonight is a big night for them and their opponents, but the WWE Tag Team titles are food on the table and that lights are too big for Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom). Montez says Fraxiom are not the best like they claim to be and that they will walk in and out as champs. Solo Sikoa, JC Mateo and Jacob Fatu glare at them on the way to the ring for the next match.

Santos Escobar meets with Angel and Berto over wine. He knows that there is fighting within family, but he also knows what they are capable of when they come together. He says that at Worlds Collide, they will come together at the best WWE has to offer against the best AAA has to offer and is the greatest chance for them to be victorious in front of their people. Berto is reluctant to join Angel and Escobar in their toast at first, but Escobar asks Berto to trust him. Berto has a swig, then leaves. Escobar tells Angel that Berto will soon understand.

Backstage, Jimmy Uso and Rey Fenix get hyped up for the next match.

Jacob Fatu and JC Mateo beat Jimmy Uso and Rey Fenix after Solo distracts Jimmy, allowing JC Mateo to avoid the splash by Jimmy Uso and hit A Tour of the Islands.

Backstage, Byron Saxton is interrupted by LA Knight, who says that while the odds are against him, he will walk into Money in the Bank, he will show up and show out, but before that, he must walk through the darkness with Aleister Black and Shinsuke Nakamura. He says that he will shine a light on both men who are making it "spooky season," because it is championship season and one of them is getting "three the hard way."

R-Truth heads to the ring. R-Truth says everyone has asked him how he will handle fighting John Cena tomorrow night, then says he is not fighting his childhood hero, as the man he sees now is one he does not recognize. He says he has thought about the man he used to know and does not know where it went wrong or how he could have prevented this, but then he realized the problem: power. He says it is always power, and says that Cena used to call him a friend and a brother, but the more power and fame he got, the more disconnected he felt. He says that he stopped conversing and felt annoyed with him, and he blamed himself. R-Truth says he thought he did something wrong or did something to upset him, but after talking to others, he realized that Cena isolated himself with power much like Gollum in Lord of the Rings and corrupted himself with that power. He compares Cena to Gollum looking at the WWE Championship like the One Ring and says "It's not the championship...it's your ego, dawg!" He says that Cena gets mad when someone wants to have fun and that he does not like what Cena has become and that Cena is not happy. He says Cena is the greatest of all time, and while he does not know if he can bring him back, he will try, for Cena will not take his joy from him. R-Truth states that to save wrestling, he must save Cena, and while he does not want to fight him, he will beat "the everloving hustle, loyalty and respect" back into him. He says that he misses his hero and cannot deny it, "so Saturday, we say it again: If Cena wins, we riot."

We see a video package for Naomi vs. Jade Cargill vs. Nia Jax for their women's Money in the Bank Triple Threat qualifier next week.

LA Knight beats Shinsuke Nakamura and Aleister Black in a men's Money in the Bank Triple Threat qualifier after Aleister hits Nakamura with Black Mass only for Knight to toss Aleister out of the ring to pick the bones.

Backstage, Carmelo Hayes laughs at Aleister Black's loss, then The Miz asks Carmelo Hayes to listen to him. Carmelo then mentions he is in a Money in the Bank qualifier, but Miz says General Manager Nick Aldis gave him the choice between himself and Carmelo and he picked Carmelo. Miz tells Carmelo that he has faith in him to win the same opportunity that made him WWE Champion; all Carmelo has to do is listen to him.

Backstage, General Manager Nick Aldis meets with Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu and JC Mateo, and he tells Jacob Fatu that he is in the last men's Money in the Bank Triple Threat qualifier. Aldis leaves, then Solo says that they will both win. Jacob smiles and says "I love you, Solo," then leaves.

We hear from Bianca Belair, who says that the only consistent in life in change and that the last six months have been the most challenging, difficult and frustrating time in her life. Bianca says that while she wants to give up, she refuses to let this define her and she is getting through it, and that she will heal stronger and wiser. She then says that her best is yet to come.

Fraxiom (Nathan Frazer and Axiom) vs. The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) for the WWE Tag Team Championships ends in a no-contest. During the match, #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) and Candice LeRae head towards the ring, but The Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley) catch up to them, and both teams brawl. Montez Ford takes out both of these teams on the outside as the match continues, then the arena suddenly goes dark. When the lights come back on, The Wyatt Sicks (Uncle Howdy, Erick Rowan, Joe Gacy, Dexter Lumis, Nikki Cross) suddenly appear in the middle of the ring and take out everyone else. The show ends with The Wyatt Sicks celebrating while Uncle Howdy blows out the candle on a chocolate birthday cake in honor of what would have been Bray Wyatt's 38th birthday.

Here are the higlights for tonight's show!

Here are the top ten moments from tonight's show!

Under Siege 2025 - The Results

Robert Stone heads to the ring. Stone thanks the fans for coming out to see tonight's show, then says that he is surprised that everyone is able to afford tickets given how poor the town is. He states that the higher-ups at NXT and TNA have come to a conclusion that Director of Authority Santino Marella is a problem, and to fix a problem, "we bring in Sheriff Stone." He says he is here to revise and edit anything Santino does wrong and is "quality insurance," which leads to loud "Santino" chants. Robert Stone announces that Victoria Crawford is going to become the new TNA Knockouts Champion, as Masha Slamovich is not exactly "face of the company quality," someone he could send on media tours, or cut out to be champion, and after tonight, she will no longer be champion. Suddenly, Santino shows up and says Robert Stone has a big mouth and calls him "a power hungry freak," then says Robert Stone has forgotten that he is Director of Authority because the fans believe in him and they love professional wrestling like he does. He says that Robert Stone will never understand, and tonight, he will make the decisions that the fans want just like on any other night. Robert Stone says that Santino is still "butthurt" from his debate victory last night, and tells Santino that tonight, his daughter Arianna Grace will be in the ring with one of the most dangerous women's wrestlers in history, and that Tessa Blanchard is not going to hold back. He then says he has called the local hospital and has a room reserved for Arianna, which Santino takes personally, stating that Arianna has more fight in one finger than Robert Stone has in his entire body, and if he or Tessa try to make an example out of Arianna, he will be Santino the father, not the Director of Authority. Santino's music plays, but Robert Stone cuts it off and demands his music be played instead.

Rosemary beats Xia Brookside by disqualification in the Countdown. During the match, Rosemary introduces a staple gun to the ring, and when the referee takes it away, Rosemary introduces a leather belt into the match. Xia Brookside eventually gets her hands on it, then whips Rosemary with it repeatedly in full view of the referee, ending the match. Security shows up, but Xia mercilessly whips them all, and when the crowd chants "One more time," she does it again. She then leaves with the belt in her hand.

We hear from Robert Stone, Tessa Blanchard and Victoria Crawford. Tessa says Arianna Grace may have gotten her foot in the door by smiling for the cameras, but when she steps into the ring, she steps into her house, which she calls a proving ground and not a pageant. Tessa says she will wipe the smile off Arianna's face quickly and that it will soon become "Sheriff Stone's world" and a world where Arianna does not fit in. Tessa proclaims she will whip Arianna so badly that she will wish she stayed in her father's shadow instead of stepping into hers. Crawford tells Tessa that when she wins the TNA Knockouts World Championship, she will let Tessa have the first shot.

Before the next match, AJ Francis shows up with a crutch in his right hand. AJ Francis says he was so excited to give Mike Santana a beatdown that he walked out of his limousine too quickly and gave himself "turf toe," then says the fans would not appreciate that because they are too busy appreciating hockey and rooting for a team that does not actually show up at Game 7 like the Toronto Maple Leafs. He then says that unlike the Toronto Maple Leafs, Fir$t Cla$$ (AJ Francis and KC Navarro) always shows up and always delivers, which is why KC Navarro will take his place in tonight's match, much to Navarro's chagrin. Santana then throws Navarro into the ring to get the match started.

Mike Santana beats KC Navarro. After the match, AJ Francis hits Santana with a crutch and attacks him, proving that he is not injured, and Navarro joins him.

Gabby Laspisa introduces Head of the Brampton, Ontario, Canada Board of Trade Jaipaul Massey-Singh, who thanks Anthem for bringing TNA to the city amid a chorus of boos, and Brampton City Councillor Rod Power, who also thanks Anthem while being booed. Brampton Honey Badgers mascot Hammer gets a much warmer reception from the crowd.

Backstage, Cody Deaner is met by Eric Young, who has just seen the video package for his match with Eddie Edwards tonight. Eric Young says he has stood there before and that he is still standing, and wishes him good luck.

Eddie Edwards beats Cody Deaner, ending Cody Deaner's career in TNA. (Had Cody Deaner won, he would have kept his job in TNA.) After initially kicking out of a ring shot by Eddie Edwards following Alisha Edwards distracting the referee in order to toss Eddie's System ring to him, Eddie gets the win after the referee fails to see a low blow from Alisha Edwards on the outside. After the match, Brian Myers, JDC and Moose show up with Myers mockingly congratulating Deaner on a stellar career in the mid-card and thanking Eddie Edwards for retiring him, then tells any fans who want to thank him by going to his new job at the local gas station. JDC calls Cody Deaner a disappointment that the fans, his family, his counter and the business does not care about before telling him to leave. Moose says Cody Deaner used to be the hero "to all these losers here in Brampton [,Ontario, Canada]," but now he is jobless, and that just like "all the idiots in Canada," he is nothing but a big, fat loser. Suddenly, The Northern Armory (Eric Young, Judas Icarus, Travis Williams) shows up, and Eric Young says they have let this go on for long enough and says that they were born in and cut their teeth in Canada, then calls The System (Eddie Edwards, Alisha Edwards, Brian Myers, Moose, JDC) "loud-mouth, pompous, arrogant, stupid American punks" that they plan to stomp. He also addresses "that honey badger" Alisha Edwards, and proposes that they will have a match and bring a honey badger of their own in the form of Hammer. The Northern Armory get in the ring as The System clears out, and Hammer the Honey Badger joins in as The Northern Armory's second to "Honey Badger" chants.

The Northern Armory (Eric Young, Judas Icarus, Travis Williams) beat The System (Brian Myers, Moose, JDC). During the match, Alisha Edwards produces a shinai from underneath the ring, and when Hammer the Honey Badger tries to stop her, he gets whacked. She hands the shinai off to Moose, which is taken away by Brampton, Ontario, Canada City Councilor Rod Power. Myers takes the shinai away from Power, which is turn is taken away from Myers by Head of the Brampton Board of Trade Jaipaul Massey-Singh. This distracts Moose, which allows Eric Young to hit Moose with a piledriver for the win.

Myla Grace and Harley Hudson, the newest signings to the Knockouts division, are seen in the crowd.

Before the next match, the personal concierge George Iceman says Ash by Elegance and Heather by Elegance will do to Spitfire (Jody Threat and Dani Luna) what the Florida Panthers did to the Toronto Maple Leaves: rip them apart. He then rips apart a Toronto Maple Leafs flag. Ash by Elegance and Heather by Elegance then show up dressed like Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Ash by Elegance and Heather by Elegance retain the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championships against Spitfire (Jody Threat and Dani Luna) in a Match by Elegance following the sudden entrance and interference by Maggie Lee. As per pre-match stipulation, Spitfire must split up for good.

Backstage, Xia Brookside says Rosemary wanted her to break and says that she was dark enough and tough enough for her world, but she took the leather belt and hit Rosemary with it again and again. She says Rosemary wanted this, and whatever happens next is on them.

Before the next match, John Skyler says that The Rascalz (Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz) and Indi Hartwell's team is light one partner, and makes fun of "Inevitable" Ace Austin being injured. He then says that Order 4 has never been more dangerous and that Mustafa Ali is a madman, then tells them to do what the Canadians do every day of their lives and take the loss and walk away. Zachary Wentz says he is down for a 4-on-3 handicap match, but all of a sudden, Raj Singh - formerly known as Campaign Singh - suddenly shows up and states that Mustafa Ali has refused to answer his phone calls while making new friends. He asks Mustafa if he has forgotten what he has done for him, even as he treated him like a mentor and leader, and in that time, he realized that there was not even one "thank you." He says that he has high friends in place and that he has realized that Mustafa is nothing more than "a narcissist with a god complex," and that everything Mustafa has told him has proven that he is nothing more than a piece of shit. He then punches Mustafa Ali, revealing himself as The Rascalz (Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz) and Indi Hartwell's tag team partner, and that gets the match started. (The injury that causes Ace Austin to be scratched from this match is a result of Ace Austin's TNA contract expiring.)

Order 4 (Mustafa Ali, John Skyler, Jason Hotch, Tasha Steelz) beats The Rascalz (Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz), Indi Hartwell and Raj Singh in an eight-person tag match. After the match, Mustafa Ali chokes Raj Singh with the ring skirt. Tasha Steelz tries to hold Mustafa back, but she gets shoved to the floor. Mustafa calms down and walks away, and the rest of Order 4 follows him.

Backstage, Director of Authority Santino Marella meets with NXT-TNA Liaison Arianna Grace, saying that everything has come to this. He tells Arianna that Tessa Blanchard is "technical, but nasty mean." Arianna says she is ready, and Santino tells Arianna to get the idea of legacy out of her head and remember that this is her time and to show what she can do. Arianna says Tessa has tried to embarrass and humiliate her, but she has done nothing but underestimate her the entire time since she has been here, and tonight, Tessa will see exactly what she can do: beat her ass.

As per the Bioflex injury report, "Inevitable" Ace Austin is out with a leg injury after last night's match and that Austin will be out indefinitely. (In reality, last night's match was his last, due to his contract expiring and not being renewed.) Meanwhile, Trick Williams is cleared following a knee injury suffered from Joe Hendry hitting him in the knee with his guitar to counter a Trick Shot on NXT, and although he has no structural damage, he has undergone treatment and inflammation and pain management and is cleared to compete tonight. Frankie Kazarian is also cleared following a concussion suffered from being hit in the head with a guitar by Elijah last night. Steve Maclin is still day-to-day following a skull fracture suffered during his Dog Collar Match against Eric Young; thankfully, he has responded well to treatment and will receive full clearance next week in time for his International Championship defense against Matt Cardona.

Backstage, we hear from Steve Maclin, who says that one does not come out of a Dog Collar Match against Eric Young and act like everything is the same. He says survival is all he has known, which is why he is known as "Bulletproof," and after a skull fracture and a lifetime scar from the match along with the blood shed in that match, he will be ready next week for Matt Cardona.

Legendary wrestling referee Jimmy Korderas is seen in the crowd.

Before the next match, Robert Stone shows up and tells Director of Authority Santino Marella that without an official manager's license, he is banned from ringside. Santino begrudgingly leaves the ring and heads to the back.

Tessa Blanchard beats Arianna Grace. After the match, Robert Stone shows up with security and demands Director of Authority Santino Marella "leave with [his] loser daughter." He then pokes Santino in the chest, then Santino is forcefully removed by security. Stone then enters the ring to introduce "the next TNA Knockouts Champion," Victoria Crawford.

Masha Slamovich retains the TNA Knockouts World Championship against Victoria Crawford. During the match, Robert Stone introduces the Knockouts World Championship into the match, and when Crawford tries to use it as a a weapon, the referee tries to take it away from her. Masha goes after Crawford, but inadvertently knocks out the ref. Stone tells Crawford to finish Masha off, but when Crawford goes for a piledriver, Masha counters with the Snow Plow. Masha has to revive the referee, allowing Crawford to fight back, but Masha hits Requiem to win and retain. After the match, Masha says that ever since she has become Knockouts Champion, she has been on a mission to be the most dominant Knockout to ever step foot in a TNA ring. She then says that she has been looking and asking for a challenger, a real competitor and a warrior who is looking for the fight and is bloodthirsty just like her: Lei Ying Lee. She says Lei Ying Lee has earned her respect after all she has done in TNA, and asks Lei Ying Lee to enter the ring and accept her challenge for the TNA Knockouts World Championship. Lei Ying Lee shows up and enters the ring, then Robert Stone shows up and says wrestlers just cannot make matches, and says Lei Ying Lee must earn her title shot on iMPACT! next week before telling them to get out of his ring.

TNA acknowledges the life and career of Sabu.

The Nemeths ("The Wanted Man" Nic and "The Hollywood Hunk" Ryan Nemeth) retain the TNA World Tag Team Championships against Matt Hardy and Leon Slater.

Backstage, Director of Authority Santino Marella meets with NXT-TNA Liaison Arianna Grace. Arianna feels embarrassed by her loss, while Santino feels assaulted by Robert Stone's chest poking. He decides to use this as leverage to make a match between himself and Robert Stone with the help of the higher-ups, but Arianna wants to be a mixed tag match. Santino likes the idea and entertains putting Robert Stone in the Cobra.

Joe Hendry and Elijah beat Trick Williams and Frankie Kazarian after Trick Williams inadvertently hits Frankie Kazarian with the Trick Shot. This is after Elijah's guitar is introduced into the match as a weapon and Elijah fails to win on an inside cradle on Kazarian due to the referee trying to take the guitar out of Trick's hands.

He then says he wants to fight with Jake, not against him, then says it is not their choice and leaves it up to the fans. When asked, the fans make it clear they want to see Jake and Deaner shake hands. Before they can do that, The Good Hands (John Skyler and Jason Hotch) show up, and John Skyler says he and Jason Hotch does not care what anyone wants and that Jake wants nothing to do with Deaner. Jake tells Skyler that this does not concern The Good Hands, who he also accuses of speaking for him, which he says nobody should be doing. Jacy says she embarrassed her in front of her brother, then Gigi says they are one win apiece and proposes a rubber match. Jacy tells Gigi to go ahead and pander to the crowd like she already does, then says she cannot wait to end this once and for all. She then says that next week, they will end this where it all started in a steel cage match. Matt Riddle heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Riddle says he is here with a heavy heart, then says that Randy Orton is his bro and that the last few months have been hard for him. Riddle is choked up as he says that Orotn has been having a hard time, especially with his back. He says that last week, Orton could barely walk, even though Orton did not want to let him and the fans down because he know how much last week's match meant to everyone, even though they lost. He then says that The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) won only because Roman Reigns interfered and calls Roman "a tribal piece of trash" before saying he will get his vengeance on Roman, The Usos and anyone associated with them. Riddle says Orton has done more for him than anyone else and that he loves and appreciates him for it, then says he does not know what the future holds for RK-Bro (Orton and Riddle) or if they will even be a thing again.

He then announces that he has learned that they will be doing it one more time at Hell In A Cell before announcing that tonight is "The All Mighty Challenge" and calling out Omos and MVP. Omos and MVP show up, and MVP says that Lashley is the maverick rather than the top gun and would not have won had it not been for "faulty equipment." As MVP says he has filed an official complaint, Lashley tells MVP to shut up because nobody wants to hear him. Lashley then states a regular match with regular stipulations is not enough to settle things between him and Omos, and that the winner of tonight's match between himself and MVP will decide the stipulation for Hell In A Cell. MVP says he is responsible for Lashley's ascension and that he will be responsible for his downfall, and that he will beat him and add a stipulation that not even Lashley can overcome, but Lashley says he made MVP and that he will put him in the Hurt Lock before he breaks Omos. MVP and Omos surround the ring, but MVP gets decked before Omos can get to the other side.

He then says The Judgment Day can help them if they can help themselves. Rhea Ripley tells Liv Morgan that she uses her heart more than her head and to stop listening to the fans and start thinking for herself. She tells Liv that she might forgive her for failing her in the past by saving herself like she did and joining them. Edge says the truth is in front of the fans' faces and will set them free, but they are too blind to see. He then says The Judgment Day is both physical and mental power to rewrite one's career under a great learning tree, for he was not picked to sit at the top of the mountain and got their through hard work and the success that followed. Edge then says the fans are "sheeple" who are afraid to grab life by the horns for all that it is worth, and that they are the chance to headbutt glass ceilings he shattered decades ago. He then asks who the next member of The Judgment Day will be and goes through a list of names before saying that AJ Styles standing side-to-side with them is better for his health than standing eye-to-eye and that AJ's kids might even be calling him "Uncle Edge." He says that made Rey weak, and he took both of them out. He then asks if he smells fear on Lawler, but Lawler says it is just his cheap cologne. Veer then says that he should show Lawler who he is rather than explain. Rey and Domink show up as Veer stares down Lawler and brawl with Veer, but Veer overpowers both men once again. The five participants for this year's Money In The Bank Ladder Match are AJ Styles, Baron Corbin, Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler and Kevin Owens. When Owens shows up, he is told by Shane that he is not one of the five participants...but "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura is. Not surprisingly, Owens calls Shane out on everyone else in the match but AJ Styles won at Backlash, because he beat Styles at Backlash (even though Ziggler also lost at the event). Shane puts Owens in the match and makes him the sixth participant no questions asked. Corbin tells Owens to shut up, and tells Sami Zayn he has no chance and they might as well give him the briefcase. Styles tells SmackDown Live this is the house that he built, and regardless of who he's up against, he'll show them why he's the franchise player when he takes the briefcase. Sami Zayn says he has respect for what Styles has done, but as he says he's here for the same thing, Corbin tells him he's riding high on a fluke victory at Backlash. Sami tells him that victory is no fluke, and if Corbin wants to keep running his mouth, he has no problem making it double or nothing and that they don't need to wait until then. Ziggler says he has won the Money In The Bank Ladder Match before and cashed in successfully, and that he will be damned if he doesn't do it again. Nakamura tells Ziggler he may as well call him "Mr. Money In The Bank." Shane then puts Corbin in a match against Sami Zayn tonight, and Dolph Ziggler and Kevin Owens will take on AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura tonight, as well.

Becky Lynch and Charlotte beat Carmella and Natalya with a Disarmher to Carmella after Naomi kicks James Ellsworth off the apron.

Sami Zayn gets a surprise pinfall on Baron Corbin mere seconds after their match starts, and Baron Corbin brutally attacks Sami Zayn after the match, sending the assault into the crowd. After referees try to restore order, Baron Corbin walks away and Sami Zayn is placed on a stretcher.

We see footage of Sami Zayn being pushed out on a stretcher during the break.

AJ Styles talks with "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura backstage. Styles admits they have history, and tells him to follow his lead in tonight's tag team match. Nakamura tells him he will be winning the Money In The Bank Ladder Match and turning his house into his playground.

It's time for another Fashion Files. Just when Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango) are about to clean out their desk and turn in their badges to Commissioner Shane McMahon, Shane puts them both in singles matches against The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) later tonight.

It's time for the WWE Championship celebration with Jinder Mahal and The Singh Brothers (Sunil and Samir Singh). Jinder Mahal says that the people booed him then for being different from them, but now they boo him for exposing them. He says that Randy Orton is on the decline - just like America - that he is already the greatest WWE Champion of all time, and that nothing will spoil his celebration, as this is about him as he celebrates for his people, for Punjab and for India. He then speaks in Punjabi, and then the celebration caps off with a massive amount of pyro.

We see another vignette of Lana dancing.

Tyler Breeze quickly beats Jey Uso as Jey is on the microphone and Fandango shoots at him with a water gun. Then, Fandango beats Jimmy Uso just as quickly as Jey chases after Breeze and a distracted Jimmy pulls off Breeze's wig, allowing Fandango the same schoolboy pin opportunity as Breeze. After the match, Breezango challenges The Usos to a SmackDown tag team title rematch, and after the referee talks with people in the back, the tag team title rematch is on.

The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) retain the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships against Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango).

Commissioner Shane McMahon is met by Natalya backstage, who asks for a shot at the SmackDown Women's Title. Suddenly, James Ellsworth and Carmella show up, and Carmella wants a shot, too. Becky Lynch also shows up wanting a shot, as does Tamina and Charlotte Flair. Shane makes a match for next week, where the five of them will compete in a Fatal 5-Way where the winner faces Naomi for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship at Money In The Bank.

Tonight on 205 Live: Akira Tozawa vs. The Brian Kendrick in a Street Fight! Kendrick says Tozawa has continuously disrespected him, but tonight is the last time, as tonight's match has no rules and that Tozawa will learn his final lesson.

"The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura and AJ Styles beat Kevin Owens and Dolph Ziggler.

On Talking Smack, The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) make their first blue brand appearance since the Superstar Shake-Up.

Raw Deal - Raw recap for May 23, 2016

Seth Rollins, fresh from a return at Extreme Rules, starts tonight's show. He says that he is back and that he is taking back the title that he never lost: the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. When he notices that the WWE Universe missed him, he finds it surprising, as he says the WWE Universe hated him to death during his championship reign as he hid behind The Authority every chance he could and everyone called him the weakest link. He says he took all the flowers and "get well soon" cards, put them in a garbage can and lit them all on fire, and says he never needed the WWE Universe and doesn't need them. He tells the WWE Universe to either cheer him or boo him, as he'll get back the title he never lost. Roman Reigns shows up, and when he gets in the ring, Seth Rollins gets out. As he tells Roman he'll only face him on his time, Shane McMahon shows up. Shane knows that there is a lot of animosity between Seth and Roman, and makes a match between the two of them for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship official for Money in the Bank.

Cesaro takes on The Miz, Dean Ambrose takes on Dolph Ziggler, Apollo Crews takes on Chris Jericho, AJ Styles takes on Kevin Owens and Sheamus takes on Sami Zayn...all in Money in the Bank qualifying matches tonight on Raw!

Renee Young interviews Sheamus, who is sick and tired of hearing about the new era and that the kids' eyes will have to covered as what he's going to Sami Zayn won't be for all ages.

Sami Zayn beats Sheamus to qualify for the Money In The Bank Ladder Match. After the match, Sheamus is seething.

Renee Young interviews Apollo Crews...but Sheamus attacks Crews before he can even speak.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) show up. There is a birthday cake in the ring, and it is out here to celebrate the 1200th episode of Raw tonight. Big E says a wrestling ring is never a safe place for a cake, so Big E volunteers to take it outside...and it almost ends up in JBL and Byron Saxton's faces. All of a sudden, The Social Outcasts (Heath Slater, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel) spoil the fun and attack The New Day.

The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E, Xavier Woods) beat The Social Outcasts (Heath Slater, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel). After the match, Heath Slater's face goes right into the birthday cake.

Before the next match, The Miz and Maryse gloat over Miz's Intercontinental Championship win and is future Money in the Bank Briefcase win. The Miz ponders who would play him in a movie based on last night, but Maryse says nobody can even compare to him. Before they can kiss, Cesaro makes his entrance.

Jojo interviews Baron Corbin. Corbin says he did what he did last night because he can. Dolph Ziggler shows up and makes fun of Corbin, and says Corbin can't beat him in a technical wrestling match. Corbin tells him that if he wants another match, he'll get one. Next week is a technical wrestling match, but tonight is the Money In The Bank qualifying match against Dean AMbrose. He plans to do what Corbin can't: steal the show.

Enzo Amore returns to WWE programming for the first time since his injury at Payback along with Big Cass. Enzo calls out The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley) after what they said about New Jersey at Extreme Rules.

Big Cass beats Bubba Ray Dudley.

Charlotte, Dana Brooke and Ric Flair arrive to address the State of the Women's Championship. Flair tells Charlotte he is proud of her for everything she's accomplished as of late. Charlotte thanks herself before saying Dana Brooke "made the right choice" when it comes to being the best. Dana thanks her for the privilege of standing in the ring with the dirtiest player in the game. Charlotte says she understands why her dad wasn't there, and now she's more powerful and more confident now that she is Women's Champion. She then tells Ric Flair to get out of her ring. She says she's now tired of being referred to as "Ric Flair's daughter" and of people saying she couldn't do anything without his help. She then calls Ric Flair "the second dirtiest player in the game" and says she has no time for people who come in second place. She tells Ric that he abandoned her and that she doesn't need him anymore, and tells him to get out. Ric reluctantly leaves the ring and heads to the back.

Dean Ambrose beats Dolph Ziggler to qualify for the Money In The Bank Ladder Match.

Ric Flair meets with Arn Anderson, who tells him "I'm sorry." Renee Young then tries to interview Flair, but Flair is so miserable after what happened earlier tonight that he can't say a thing.

The Shining Stars (Primo and Epico) invite the WWE Universe to come to Puerto Rico, "The Shining Star of the Caribbean."

Before the next match, AJ Styles says that Roman Reigns is every bit of the man he says he is, and that if it weren't for The Usos (Jimmy and Jey Uso) and The Club (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson), he would have beat Roman Reigns. He says he has an opportunity to beat Kevin Owens on his own and go on to Money in the Bank. Suddenly, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson show up and take offense to the "if it weren't for them" line. AJ says that things have changed, and that it's probably time for a professional split. He says that nothing can separate them from being brothers, but Gallows and Anderson don't like the sound of that. Gallows and Anderson eventually leave the ring after AJ says that right now, the ring is his ring.

This Thursday on SmackDown: Cesaro vs. The Miz for the WWE Intercontinental Championship! Kalisto vs. Rusev for the WWE United States Championship!
