Final iMPACT! - iMPACT! recap for April 17, 2025

Laredo Kid (now known as just "Laredo") beats Jason Hotch.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Leon Slater. Leon Slater looks forward to making history as the youngest X Division Champion of all time at Unbreakable, but first, he has to beat Brian Myers after how Myers used a ring to knock him out for the win. Slater says that he is a different animal and that he will beat the razz out of Myers before becoming X Division Champion later tonight.

Backstage, Cody Deaner talks with Director of Authority Santino Marella regarding his contract. Santino says he will be working on it this week, but reminds him that he has not won in a while and that the Board of Directors is focused on that. When Cody mentions his near-win against Moose for the X Division Championship, Santino puts him in a match against KC Navarro, and if Deaner wins, he will qualify for Ultimate X at Rebellion.

Xia Brookside beats Jazmyn Nyx with an inside cradle. During the match, Fallon Henley distracts the referee only for Lei Ying Lee to confront Fallon. Jacy Jayne then distracts Brookside, but Rosemary shows up and spits green mist into Jacy's face. Jazmyn tries to take advantage, but Brookside gets the win with an inside cradle.

Before the next match, Cody Deaner proclaims that he is not just fighting for the fans, but his job, and says that his contract expires on May 1st. To keep his job, he must win tonight. He says that he has the fans on his side and that he can beat KC Navarro, then Navarro takes the microphone and tells Deaner that he has not won a match in over a year and that the fans really want to see him in Ultimate X. KC Navarro then offers $500 to Cody Deaner to leave, but Deaner leaves that choice up to the fans, who want Deaner to beat Navarro. Deaner then hits Navarro with several right hands, all worth $500 each.

KC Navarro beats Cody Deaner to qualify for the Ultimate X Match at Rebellion after wrapping a chain around his fist and knocking Deaner out with it. (He also gets his $500 back.)

Before the next match, the personal concierge George Iceman announces that Ash by Elegance is on vacation, then announces that he is working on a new project before introducing Maggie Lee. Iceman says that Maggie is not elegant, sophisticated or posh, and that there will be some work to do, then introduces Maggie's tag tea partner, Heather by Elegance.

Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley beats Maggie Lee and Heather by Elegance after Heather inadvertently collides with Maggie.

Backstage, personal concierge George Iceman and Heather by Elegance are concerned about their loss when Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson show up wanting a shot at the Knockouts Tag Team titles. Spitfire (Jody Threat and Dani Luna) show up and mention their rematch clause, then Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley show up stating that they just pinned Heather. Heather freaks out and accepts everyone's challenge to a four-way tag team title match. All the while, Maggie cannot believe what is going on.

We look back at the original Unbreakable pay-per-view from 2005.

We hear from AJ Francis, who says that he will become the very first TNA International Champion as he is out buying property in the seedy side of Las Vegas, Nevada.

We hear from Joe Hendry and Masha Slamovich. Hendry says their titles may not be on the line, but the motivation to be the best they can be is the same, and they will not relinquish them to Tessa Blanchard and Frankie Kazarian. He may not be 100%, but he will prove they are unbreakable . Masha says Tessa is trying to do more than break her; she is trying to take everything from her after spitting on the place that built her. She says Tessa has done everything to get under her skin and it worked, but she made the mistake of thinking making her angry makes her break. She says she does not want to beat Tessa; she wants to break her. Hendry says their grasp on their titles is unbreakable.

Dani Luna beats Jakara Jackson.

Elijah is in the ring for a concert. He says that "In TNA, we walk this way," then mocks Frankie Kazarian and "All Ego" Ethan Page while also referencing his friendship with Joe Hendry in his lone musical number. He then announces that at Rebellion, he will issue an open challenge to anyone from anywhere who wants to face him. He then thanks the fans.

Backstage, we hear from "All Ego" Ethan Page, who says that he only has to worry about Rebellion, then asks why Joe Hendry is making "so many silly decisions" before defending the TNA World Championship against him. He wants to know how Hendry's shoulder will be after tonight when Frankie Kazarian gets his hands on him, then says that he has already beaten Hendry at 100% before wishing Kazarian luck as he enjoys the show.

Brian Myers beats Leon Slater after rummaging around in his jacket to look for his ring. Slater keeps him from using it, but Myers hits him with the Roster Cut anyway.

Here are the must-see moments from tonight's show!

Final iMPACT! - iMPACT! recap for April 10, 2025

"All Ego" Ethan Page heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Ethan Page calls TNA the place where he became "All Ego" and where he still holds the record for longest-reigning tag team champion in company history, then focuses on the TNA World Championship. He proclaims that at Rebellion, the people can believe all they want, but he will finally become TNA World Champion. He says that he beat Joe Hendry once and that he can do it ago, and that he knows everything he needs to know about him. As Ethan states that nothing will stop him from winning the TNA World Championship, Frankie Kazarian shows up and says Ethan cannot just crawl back to "his company" and win the World Championship, and says he is "a feeble minded idiot" like the fans. He also states that Ethan is abrasive, self-centered and arrogant, and Ethan praises Kazarian for saying they hate the both of them. Kazarian then brags about winning the Call Your Shot Gauntlet Trophy and says Ethan just kissed ass for a title shot, but Ethan says Kazarian is just upset it is not him. After Kazarian states that he will have his way and walk out of Rebellion as TNA World Champion, Director of Authority Santino Marella shows up. Santino announces that Joe Hendry is about to show up and address something regarding Unbreakable that will affect both Ethan and Kazarian.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Steve Maclin. Maclin says that he is approaching tonight's match like he does every other one, and while he expects the rest of The System (Brian Myers, Moose, JDC, Alisha Edwards) to interfere, he will take care of Eddie Edwards. The Northern Armory (Eric Young, Judas Icarus, Travis Williams) shows up, and Eric Young says that they have Maclin's back no matter what. Maclin tells The Northern Armory that he does not need them in his business.

"Inevitable" Ace Austin beats Mustafa Ali by disqualification after Mustafa hits Austin with a metal folding chair as Austin fends off The Great Hands (John Skyler and Jason Hotch). After the match, The Great Hands hit Ace Austin with The Favor, then hold down Austin in the corner at Mustafa's command. Tasha Steelz hands a chair to Mustafa, then Mike Santana suddenly shows up. Mustafa Ali, Tasha Steelz and The Great Hands - now known as "Order Four" - run away through the crowd after Mustafa swings at Santana only for Santana to block the chair with his fist.

Backstage, Order Four (Mustafa Ali, John Skyler, Jason Hotch, Tasha Steelz) make their way out of the arena and into a waiting car. They soon find out Santana is in the driver's seat, and while everyone else escapes, Skyler is taken for a ride after Santana attacks him.

Before the next match, JDC tells Cody Deaner not to pander to the fans before asking him when he last won a match. He says he knows Deaner's contract is up soon and that things are not looking good for him and his kids. He offers Deaner a spot in The System, albeit as "a young boy" and not as an official member, and tells him to trust The System as he does not have many options. Once again, Deaner leaves the choice up to the fans, who make it clear that they do not want him to join The System. JDC tells Deaner not to listen to the fans, but Deaner proposes beating Moose for the X Division Championship. Moose laughs and says that if Deaner can last two minutes against him, he can get a shot at the X Division Championship. Deaner leaves the choice to the fans, and the fans make it clear they want to see this challenge.

Moose retains the TNA X Division Championship against Cody Deaner. Cody Deaner lasts the first two minutes to make the match an X Division title match after Moose lets the match keep going almost a minute in, but Moose beats him with two Spears shortly afterwards. After the match, JDC, Myers and Moose gang up on Cody Deaner, but they run away when The Rascalz (Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz) show up with baseball bats.

The System (Brian Myers and JDC) beat The Rascalz (Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz) after JDC holds down Trey Miguel's feet as Trey tries to get Myers back in the ring, allowing Myers to fall on top of Trey for the win as JDC continues to hold Trey's feet down.

AJ Francis beats Sami Callihan and Mance Warner in a triple threat match to advance in the TNA International Championsip Tournament after hitting Callihan with the TFL following Callihan plunging his thumb into Mance Warner's eye.

Backstage, Director of Authority Santino Marella confronts Sami Callihan for ramming his thumb in Mance Warner's eye. Sami Callihan mentions Steph de Lander burning his retina with hot coffee, and says he wants this to be over. Santino agrees, and Sami Callihan says he wants to make history doing it in a Barbed Wire Massacre Match. Santino makes it official for Unbreakable.

Leon Slater beats "The Hollywood Hunk" Ryan Nemeth with a Twist of Slate (a Twist of Fate into a Blunt Force Trauma) followed by a Swanton 450 Splash after The Hardys (Jeff and Matt Hardy) stop Ryan Nemeth from using a metal folding chair as a weapon.

We hear from Mustafa Ali, who tells John Skyler that he will go after Order Four (Mustafa Ali, John Skyler, Jason Hotch, Tasha Steelz) one by one. He tells Skyler that Mustafa Ali will use him like everyone else and get rid of him when he is done. He says that all is fair in war and that if Skyler wants to drink his Kool-Aid, then he nearly hits him a shovel as he shows him what it is like to hit rock bottom.

Eddie Edwards beats Steve Maclin after The Northern Armory (Eric Young, Judas Icarus, Travis Williams) shows up and distracts Steve Maclin as he takes down Brian Myers and JDC, allowing Alisha Edwards to sneak a ring to Eddie so he can knock Maclin out for the win. After the match, Eric Young tosses his hockey mask to Steve Maclin.

Joe Hendry heads to the ring. Hendry announces that he has suffered a serious rotator cuff injury, then says that if you cannot defend the championship, you should not be the champion. He calls the last year "the most amazing journey" and that it is all because of the fans, but he has to take the bad with the good, and that he has been advised not to compete. However, he will defend the TNA World Championship at Rebellion, and he will defend it against Frankie Kazarian and "All Ego" Ethan Page and walk out still the TNA World Champion. He says he will do it because the fans have kept chanting "We believe," then Kazarian shows up and says that while this is really inspiring, he is sick of Hendry, and Hendry will not walk out as champion because he will barely be able to walk into the building. He says that Hendry is "a wounded duck" and is not at 100%, and that he will not be able to hang with him. Kazarian says Hendry cares about what the fans think and desires to be loved, but when he loses that, he will beat him and "All Ego" Ethan Page to become champion. Hendry mentions Kazarian saying he cannot wait to beat him, and says that at Unbreakable there will be a tag team match. Kazarian will team with Tessa Blanchard, while he will team with Masha Slamovich to face Kazarian.

Here are the must-see moments from tonight's show!

Final iMPACT! - iMPACT! recap for March 13, 2025

Eddie Edwards beats Leon Slater to earn The System (Eddie Edwards, Alisha Edwards, Brian Myers, Moose, JDC) and The Colons (Eddie and Orlando Colon) the advantage in their upcoming steel cage match after Alisha Edwards distracts the referee.

We hear from Sami Callihan, who says that Mance Warner does not know what he is up against and that he gets one more day before he beats him. Warner and Steph de Lander show up and taunt Callihan into hitting Warner and getting fired, but Callihan does not give in.

Wes Lee beats Laredo Kid. After the match, The Rascalz (Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz) and "Inevitable" Ace Austin show up, and Trey says they waited for Wes Lee to be done because they are not cowards, and that he, Tyson Dupont and Tyriek Igwe have one more day until they settle things. Ace Austin says that Wes lee will get dealt with for crossing the line, and Wentz says they will close this chapter for good and send Wes Lee and his muscle back to NXT.

Backstage, Spitfire (Jody Threat and Dani Luna) meets with Director of Authority Santino Marella regarding personal concierge George Iceman, Ash by Elegance and Heather by Elegance, who also show up to complain about their treatment. Santino makes a two-on-three match for the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championships where the personal concierge has to wrestle at Sacrifice.

Xia Brookside beats Rosemary by disqualification after Brookside takes Rosemary's chain from underneath the ring away from her only for Rosemary to spit green mist in her face.

We see Steve Maclin write in a notebook while sitting in front of a campfire, followed by a vision of him and Eric Young having drinks together. Maclin says he has already told Eric his stance, and Eric says he gets it and that while they have their paths, their paths will collide one way or another. Maclin says they are both men and will always respect each other, to which Eric agrees, then says that if Eric can see himself in, he can see himself out.

Before the next match, Cody Deaner says it is great to have TNA Wrestling back in Orlando, Florida, and that he never expected to wrestle in Full Sail University. He says his personal life of being a father of four was great, which leads to a "He's got kids!" chant, but his professional life was not as great until he put it in the hands of the people, and since then, he has had more fun in professional wrestling than ever. After Cody Deaner says he will enjoy beating JDC tonight, JDC says nobody cares about his kids, to which the fans chant "Yes, we do!", then says he only cares about tonight's steel cage match and tells Deaner to be a man and take the loss. Deaner then says it is not anybody's choice but the fans if he should leave or fight, and the fans overwhelmingly choose for him to punch JDC in the face ten times.

JDC beats Cody Deaner with a thumb to the eyes and a Falcon Arrow after Deaner almost inadvertently runs into the referee.

NXT-TNA Liaison Arianna Grace guests on commentary for the next match.

Tessa Blanchard and Cora Jade beat Masha Slamovich and Lei Ying Lee after Cora hits Masha in the face with the Knockouts World Championship.

Ton Hannifan sits in the middle of the Mike Santana-Mustafa Ali Summit. Mustafa says he respects Santana as a competitor and asset of TNA, but TNA is the biggest picture and on the precipice of greatness, and to achieve that greatness, they need a great leader, and he wants to break down the walls for generations to come. He says that he can handle the pressure, but states that Santana cannot. Santana says he has lived pressure his entire life in trying to be the face of his family and since he walked back into TNA, and he has beaten some of its best since then. Mustafa says Santana does not really know pressure through adversity and failure and that he does not really care about TNA, and says Santana is a liability and an addict, not a leader. Santana says Mustafa is "full of shit" and that everyone is on to him, from the fans to the locker room, and that everyone knows Mustafa is here for his own self-gain. He also has accepted his addiction for a long time, but he is now an addict for TNA and for being true to himself. He also has accepted his addiction for a long time, but he is now an addict for TNA and for being true to himself. He also says that he has shown to all the other addicts out there that it is possible to hit the bottom and rise. Santana tells Mustafa that at Sacrifice, his hands had better cash those checks. Mustafa admits he admires Santana's, then says there is too much tension and pulls out a bottle of wine as a gesture. He then says Santana will lose, face adversity, then fall back off the wagon and let everyone down and break his daughter's heart. Santana attacks Mustafa, but Mustafa gets the upper hand when Tasha Steelz gets in the way. When Santana is down on the ground, he pours some wine from the bottle in a glass and leaves it for Santana when he wakes up. Mustafa and his cabinet leave, then Santana sees the glass.

We see a preview of "Immersed: Joe Hendry," which is now available on TNA's YouTube channel.

Before the next match, Frankie Kazarian is about to guest on commentary for the next match when he finds out he has a match with Steve Maclin at Sacrifice. Kazarian is livid. When Joe Hendry heads to the ring, Hendry says this is the part of the show where he finds out who will face him for the TNA World Championship tonight, and introduces Director of Authority Santino Marella. Santino then says he has somebody special for him tonight, then "The Hollywood Hunk" Ryan Nemeth shows up dressed to compete and announces that "The Wanted Man" Nic Nemeth returns tomorrow night at Sacrifice. He also states that Nic hates Hendry as much as he does and has given him his contractually obligated rematch, and tells Santino that he is taking it right now. Ryan gets in the ring, then Hendry plants him with a Standing Ovation for a very quick win. Santino then says Ryan is out of his mind and not the person he had in mind, then introduces Hendry's real opponent: Hammerstone, who has not been seen in months.

Joe Hendry retains the TNA World Championship against Alex Hammerstone. (This ends up being Hammerstone's final match in TNA, as he is no longer under contract following this match.) After the match, The System and The Colons gang up on Joe Hendry, then Elijah, Leon Slater and The Hardys show up to make the save. This leads to a ten-man brawl all around the ring, and Moose and Jeff Hardy toss each other into Frankie Kazarian as the show ends.

The Teardrop Xplodes - Xplosion recap for February 28, 2025

We look back on Jeff Hardy vs. Jeff Jarrett in a steel cage match from Final Resolution 2011 (which is mislabeled as Jeff Hardy vs. Jeff Jarrett in a ladder match for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship from Victory Road 2004).

Gia Miller interviews McKenzie Mitchell for Around the Ring. McKenzie talks about her own jewelry brand and being a fourth-generation female jeweler as well as creating a fidget ring for autism awareness.

We look back on Oba Femi and The Hardys (Jeff and Matt Hardy) vs. The System (Eddie Edwards, Brian Myers, Moose) from last night's show.

Before the next match, John Skyler says there is a difference in being good and being great, and says the fans would not know the difference because they are "terrible losers." He then says that with the proper leadership, he and Jason Hotch can make the people great again, then demands that their opponents be brought out so they can pummel them with - after Hotch corrects him - "these Great Hands." Their opponents are Laredo Kid and Cody Deaner, who tells Hotch and Skyler to shut their mouths and that it would be a great idea for them to punch the two of them right in the mouth, yet it is the people's choice whether or not they do it. Not surprisingly, the fans want Cody and Laredo Kid to punch them in the mouth, and Skyler and Hotch get punched in the mouth.

The Good Hands (John Skyler and Jason Hotch; now known as "The Great Hands") beat Cody Deaner and Laredo Kid.

Final iMPACT! - iMPACT! recap for December 12, 2024

Moose heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Moose says that ever since he became X Division Champion, people have asked him what he will do with the title, and that since he is already a three-time World Champion, he will make the X Division Championship the most important in TNA. He says that "The Wanted Man" Nic Nemeth is one of the best wrestlers today, yet everybody is talking about and not Nemeth. He calls Joe Hendry the hottest act in wrestling, but he does not have a championship like he does. Moose says that the tag titles are held by the most decorated team in wrestling in The Hardys (Jeff and Matt Hardy), but people are not talking about them because they are too busy chanting his name. He then says he does not need the fans chanting his name or their respect and support, for when he is done with the X Division, he will go down as the greatest X Division Champion of all time. Suddenly, Cody Deaner shows up and tells Moose to shut his mouth, as the fans helped him find his way and his love for professional wrestling when he let them make decisions for him. Moose calls the fans "imbeciles" and "idiots," and says that since Deaner has started listening to them, he has not won a match. Deaner says he can win a match with the people behind him and even beat Moose for the X Division Championship. Moose laughs and says this will be the easiest decision ever before booting Deaner in the face and calling him for a ref.

Moose retains the TNA X Division Championship against Cody Deaner.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Fir$t Cla$$ (AJ Francis and KC Navarro) and Tasha Steelz. Navarro says they feel "pretty damn blessed" tonight as they are all future champions, and Tasha says tonight will be a small taste of what she will give Masha Slamovich when she beats her for the Knockouts World Championship. Francis says his match with Nic Nemeth will be a career and life culmination and a chance to prove the doubters wrong, and that he will continue to pick Nemeth up and choke slam until he walks out TNA World Champion.

Backstage, we hear from Mike Santana, who says that he is back on the path to purpose when The Northern Armory ("The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander, Judas Icarus, Travis Williams) interrupts. Alexander tells Santana that he has beaten the same guys he has and that he sent him packing in tag team action, and Santana threatens to send Alexander packing. Alexander says he can put Santana down any time he wants, and that he plans on doing it at Final Resolution.

Rosemary beats Xia Brookside. After the match, Rosemary hits Xia Brookside with the ground and pound, then Jordynne Grace runs into the ring. Rosemary rolls out as Jordynne slides in.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Trent Seven, who finds out that he will face "Inevitable" Ace Austin at Final Resolution. Trent Seven is not happy, as he had already beaten him. Ace Austin steps on Trent's interview in return for Trent stepping on his, and reminds him that he cheated to win. He calls what he did to Speedball disgusting, and says that he will see him at Final Resolution.

The Rascalz (Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz) beat Leon Slater and Laredo Kid.

Backstage, we hear from The System (Eddie Edwards, Alisha Edwards, Brian Myers, Moose, JDC). Eddie says they are one day away from facing The Hardys (Jeff and Matt Hardy) in a table match, and Myers says The Hardys have existed for far too long and inspired them to put them through a table. JDC says he has wrestled longer than Leon Slater has been alive and that he will show him how real he can get. Moose says that KUSHIDA will get one more opportunity to trust The System.

PCO and Sami Callihan beat Jake Something and Hammerstone by disqualification after Hammerstone hits PCO in the back with a metal folding chair to absolutely no effect. After the match, the lights go out and the number 23 appears again. The words "It's just a number" can be heard.

Dani Luna beats Heather by Elegance after personal concierge George Iceman gets ejected from ringside and Jody Threat makes Ash by Elegance pay for further interference in the match.

Masha Slamovich, Joe Hendry and "The Wanted Man" Nic Nemeth beat Tasha Steelz and Fir$t Cla$$ (AJ Francis and KC Navarro) in a six-person tag match. After the match, AJ Francis pulls Hendry out of the ring and throws him into the ring steps. Steelz gets on top of Nemeth for a sleeper only to be pulled off by Masha. As Masha beats down Steelz, AJ Francis hits Nemeth with a Spear, then grabs Masha only for Masha to bite his fingers. Steelz then hits Masha with a cutter, and Nemeth fights Francis only to eat three Down Payments. Francis then raises up the TNA World Championship while placing a foot on the chest of a downed Nemeth to end the show.

We look back on Frankie Kazarian vs. Joe Hendry in a TNA World Championship #1 Contender's Match from last night's show.

Jake Something guests on commentary for the next match. Also before the next match, Cody Deaner gets opinions from the fans as to what moves to use.

Hammerstone beats Cody Deaner after catching Deaner out of a cross body and hitting the Nightmare Pendulum.

Thursday, August 29, 2024

Final iMPACT! - iMPACT! recap for August 29, 2024

AJ Francis guests on commentary for the next match.

"Speedball" Mike Bailey retains the TNA X Division Championship against Rich Swann after Trent Seven knocks AJ Francis out at ringside. During the match, The Rascalz (Trey Miguel and Zachary Wentz) are seen watching the match from the skybox.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews Jordynne Grace. Jordynne says she is all about giving people opportunities ever since she became champion, and that Ash By Elegance is lucky to get two of them. She admits she does not know what a "Match By Elegance" is, but she will beat Ash and walk out as champion.

Before the next match, Joe Hendry says he would usually make fun of Brian Myers, but he has heard a rumor that there are people who respect Myers, and in the interest of fairness, asks people not to chant "Edge's Bitch." He then realizes nobody respects Myers, and that those who truly mean respect chant "We believe."

Joe Hendry beats Brian Myers. After the match, Myers and Eddie Edwards (who has been ejected from ringside alongside Alisha Edwards for getting physically involved) attack Hendry, then Mike Santana shows up to start the next match. (During the AXS TV broadcast, picture in picture accidentally starts early, which causes the finish to happen simultaneously with the commercials, and the picture-in-picture break announced during the next match does not happen.)

Mike Santana beats Eddie Edwards.

We hear from Matt Cardona, who announces that he is still not medically cleared to compete after tweaking a pec and cannot wrestle at Emergence. Director of Authority Santino Marella thinks Cardona is up to something, but Cardona blames Santino's doctors and says he has a mystery opponent for PCO. Santino gets mad at Cardona and says he will not get away with this.

Steve Maclin guests on commentary for the next match.

Hammerstone beats Eric Young after Eric Young confronts Steve Maclin on the outside.

Before the next match, Cody Deaner says that tonight, the fans have a choice. Jake Something stops him, saying it is not about the people, but about the two of them ruling over the tag division, and calls out ABC ("Inevitable" Ace Austin and Chris Bey) for the next match.

ABC ("Inevitable" Ace Austin and Chris Bey) beat Cody Deaner and Jake Something. After the match, Fir$t Cla$$ (AJ Francis and Rich Swann) attack ABC and Cody Deaner. Jake Something walks away instead of getting involved.

The personal concierge George Iceman is seen talking with Alisha Edwards and Masha Slamovich backstage before the next match.

Jordynne Grace retains the TNA Knockouts World Championship against Ash By Elegance in a Match By Elegance following a Muscle Buster through a table, after Rosemary chases George Iceman to the back and Spitfire (Dani Luna and Jody Threat) show up to fight Alisha Edwards and Masha Slamovich when they also get involved in the match.

Matthew Rehwoldt moderates one more meeting between "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander and "The Wanted Man" Nic Nemeth - which has a no-contact clause - before their Iron Man Match for the TNA World Championship at Emergence. Alexander says everyone, including Nemeth, is on his time from now on, as he has done everything under TNA's terms and he will take the world title on his terms now. Nemeth says he is happy and overjoyed to have a world title in his hands, and while he respects what Alexander has done, he feels lucky to win the championship and says that he is a fighting champion. He also wants to know why everyone knows his name but nobody knows Alexander's, and also says Alexander could have walked up to him, looked him in the eye and demanded for a championship match. When asked what has gone wrong, Alexander says everything - fans, management, everything but him - has gone wrong, and says that nobody is champion until they beat him. He also says people like Nemeth show up and have the welcome mat rolled out for them and also calls this part of the problem, and says that tomorrow night, the TNA World Championship will be back on his waist and TNA will be better off for it. Nemeth says Alexander is the same old guy and that the business always changes and that one must improve every single day, not refer back to the history books, as this is what the business is every day. This leads to a heated argument between Alexander and Nemeth, with Alexander saying he is "the fucking standard" while Nemeth states that he is now the best and that he will fight to the death to stay champion.

Thursday, July 25, 2024

Final iMPACT! - iMPACT! recap for July 25, 2024

"The Wanted Man" Nic Nemeth heads to the ring to start tonight's show. Nic thanks the fans as he proclaims that he is the new TNA World Champion. He admits that Slammiversary was a hell of a night and could have gone anyone's way, but Moose is no longer World Champion. He says that he has promised to be a fighting champion compared to a laid-back, protected champion like Moose, as that is what a champion does. Nic also promises that he will make the World Championship as special as it is to him and defend it against anyone, at any company, any night, and make it the biggest championship in the business until it is pried from his cold, dead hands. Suddenly, Campaign Singh shows up with Secret Service agents and introduces Mustafa Ali, who calls Nic Nemeth winning the World Championship much deserved before shaking his hand. Mustafa then says that what happened to him is more important, saying that he lost the X Division Championship in "the biggest screwjob in history" while the fans cheered despite everything he did for the X Division. Nemeth rubs Mustafa's loss in his face, but Mustafa says that "Speedball" Mike Bailey, Earl Hebner and the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada "screwed him real hard," which leads to a "You deserve it" chant. Nemeth mentions Mustafa tapping out, which gets Mustafa angry enough to announce a new campaign and initiative where he makes the TNA World Championship great again. Nemeth warns Mustafa to take a step back before he drops him on his ass, then says that he is a fighting champion and is willing to have the match tonight, but Mustafa says he will see him next week. Mustafa then goes for a cheap shot, but Nic Nemeth throws him out of the ring and superkicks Campaign Singh.

Backstage, Gia Miller interviews ABC ("Inevitable" Ace Austin and Chris Bey) and "Broken" Matt Hardy. Chris Bey says they are no strangers to The System (Eddie Edwards, Alisha Edwards, Brian Myers, Moose, JDC), and that Matt Hardy knows how The System will be working the numbers game. Matt says he has a premonition and says someone that we all believe in is willing to appear.

Backstage, "The Wanted Man" Nic Nemeth meets with "The Hollywood Hunk" Ryan Nemeth when Frankie Kazarian shows up and says he is the one king of TNA and calls Nic Nemeth "a professional thief" who stole his title. Nic tells Kazarian to get to the back of the line, and Ryan says he and Kazarian still have some unfinished business. Director of Authority Santino Marella shows up before things get physical and makes Kazarian vs. Ryan Nemeth official for next week.

Before the next match, Steve Maclin says he has been trying to turn over a new leaf and do what he thought was right over the last few months, and while he had complete control at Slammiversary, he was caught and he was eliminated. He then says that he is trying to sacrifice himself to become a two-time World Champion, yet the fans have the gall to sing "Na Na Hey Hey (The Goodbye Song)." He then tells the Canadian fans to kiss his ass. Cody Deaner shows up and tells Steve Maclin to shut his mouth, then offers to be the man to shut his mouth, assuming the fans allow it. The fans make it clear that they want to see Cody Deaner punch Steve Maclin in the mouth, and this starts a match.

Brian Myers announces that as of Under Siege, every member of The System is a champion, then says that nobody should be surprised as they have been winning championships their entire careers. He says that The System runs on gold and is an absolute dynasty. Moose says he has played on a lot of great teams and that The System is "the greatest team of all time." He says they are not the 1996 Chicago Bulls, for they are far greater than them, and if no one believes them, they can ask "The Wanted Man" Nic Nemeth and "Broken" Matt Hardy, as they ran them off like the 1992 Dream Team did to Croatia. Eddie says their reputations speak for themselves and that they walked in as champions, and after nearly a decade, Alisha realized her potential, picked her spot and became a world champion. He says that Alisha stands above everyone in the Knockouts Division and is the greatest TNA Knockout of all time, then Alisha thanks Eddie before saying she wants to put a little more flare on the celebration. She then presents a video package of The System that she made herself, but the video package is interrupted by Matt Hardy, who shows up with a metal folding chair. Gabby also brings up Ash's loss to Xia Brookside from two week ago, and George Iceman says it is all camera trickery. Suddenly, Chris Bey shows up and tells Kazarian that he wants his throne next week. Kazarian accepts the challenge.

AJ Francis and Rich Swann are in the ring. Swann says that he is a former champion, and that it is no secret that he has been in a bit of a slump. He says that when he went to the back every week, Francis would be there, promising him to take him to even higher heights. Swann, knowing how Francis operated, said he wanted to do it the right way, but after he kept getting beaten week after week, and just when he was going to get his first win in week, Hendry steals the win from him and bring him into the ring to celebrate. He then says Hendry stole the spotlight from him, and when he headed to the back, Francis checked on him, and after enough persistence, Swann saw the fire he used to have in him. Swann also mentions being TNA World Champion when there was no crowd in the building, then says that he never needed the fans. Francis says that as long as the two of them are together, everything smells like money, and "if you're not First Class, you're last."

D'Amore says he has talked to both men individually and that he is excited for them to be competing at the top of their game for the ultimate prize, and says that their match is a dream match and that he is excited to make it official. Alexander says that nobody is more excited for this match than him and that he has wanted this for some time. He says this will be "one hell of a match," as his first live wrestling show in 2005 had Alex Shelley in it. He says that while Shelley has talent, he dared to "be original in an unoriginal business," and the night after that, he started his own professional wrestling career. Alexander says that in the last seventeen years, they have never faced off, but he has seen Shelley's influence through the years. He says it will be an honor to face and beat "the real Alex Shelley," then signs the contract. Shelley says he has copious amounts of respect for Alexander and that their careers have run parallel in several ways, but Alexander did something he could not: become World Champion and the best Impact has to offer. On the subject of Alexander beating him, he asks Alexander what makes him different from "the Alex Shelley clones," and Alexander says he is more of "a Chris Sabin guy" after winning the big one. Alexander then asks Shelley why he has yet to win the big one despite all his accomplishments and talent, then chalks it up to Shelley being scared of the pressure and responsibility of being champion. He then says he wants to beat a Shelley who is better than his best, as his best has not been enough to get the job done in the past. Shelley admits he has never had a world title shot and that his love for wrestling has wavered over the years, and says that Chris Sabin is an example on what one has to go through to be at the top of the mountain, citing his knee injuries. Shelley also lists off Alexander's injuries throughout his career, then says his injuries will be nothing compared to what he will go through in his psyche when he takes him back to 2005 as they square off, for all he will see is "an Alex Shelley mark." After stating that Alexander will not leave with the world title, he offers a "consolation prize." Shelley signs the contract, pushes the contract back to Alexander and tells him to enjoy his Alex Shelley autograph.
