Generation NXT - NXT recap for June 6, 2018

"The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler - now with the NXT Women's Championship back around her waist - shows up to start tonight's show. Baszler says that last week, she showed the locker room that when you step in the ring, you will be slapped in the face with a hard dose of reality and that she is that reality. She says that she is tougher, stronger and better, regardless of how brave her opponents are, and that the strong will always defeat the week. However, there always has to be one. She says there is one person who thinks the laws do not apply to them, and in her case, it is Nikki Cross. Baszler tells Cross that if she gets in her face again, it will be the last thing she ever does. Suddenly, Nikki Cross shows up. Cross gets in the ring, and she and Baszler stare down. Baszler tells Cross that her stunt was a joke, and that she is the NXT Women's Champion. She then says the only place where Cross is better than her is in her "twisted little mind." She then asks if Cross is crazy, and the crowd chants "Yes." Baszler tells Cross she could put her to sleep in a heartbeat, then throws the microphone at her. Cross takes the microphone and says "Do it, Shayna...do it!" She leads a "Do it!" chant, then Shayna she is the champion and that Cross does not call the shots. Cross then tries to scare Baszler, who pushes Cross only for Cross to attack her. Cross goes to town on Baszler, then tries to grab the NXT Women's title only for Baszler to knock Cross out with a right hand and toss her out of the ring. Cross gets on the apron and hits Baszler with a surprise forearm before landing a top rope cross body. Baszler is forced to retreat.

Nikki Cross vs. "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler is official for NXT TakeOver: Chicago.

TM61 (Nick Miller and Shane Thorne) beat Mike Hughley and Robbie Grand. After the match, TM61 claim they are the best team in NXT, and that it is all about winning and they are winners. They plan to win against other teams if they are man enough to get in the ring, and say the other teams should bow down and call them "the mighty."

We see footage from earlier this week of Lars Sullivan training in the WWE Performance Center and dominating against some trainees.

Roderick Strong beats Danny Burch after Adam Cole distracts Burch. After the match, Pete Dunne attacks Roderick Strong, but Kyle O'Reilly clips the back of the left knee of Dunne before Strong hits Dunne with End of Heartache.

Backstage, Kassius Ohno does a photo shoot. All of a sudden, Ethan Carter III interrupts. He admits Ohno is a good wrestler, but he is not the top one percent like him. Ohno calls EC3 a "narcissistic, arrogant blowhard," and says he will be one percent away from being 99% unconscious if he interrupts him again. He then challenges him to a match for next week. EC3 accepts.

We hear from Aleister Black, who says that Lars Sullivan did what people thought was the unthinkable and made it a reality. However, he says Sullivan's actions do not determine his reality. He says Sullivan succeeded in showing him what lies ahead at NXT TakeOver: Chicago, but next week, his reality will fade to black.

The Undisputed Era (Roderick Strong and Kyle O'Reilly) vs. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch with the NXT Tag Team Championships on the line is official for NXT TakeOver: Chicago.

We hear from both Ricochet and Velveteen Dream before their match at NXT TakeOver: Chicago.

Kairi Sane beats Lacey Evans.

Next week: Aleister Black live! Kassius Ohno vs. Ethan Carter III!

Tomasso Ciampa shows up. Once again, the crowd chants "You suck!" and boo as Tommaso Ciampa approaches the ring. Ciampa simply smiles and shakes his head as he walks up the steel steps, then gets on the apron and outstretches his arms. He then gets in the ring, and the crowd then chants "Johnny Wrestling." These chants are matched with alternating "Psycho Killer" chants from the Ciampa fans, then Ciampa sits on the top turnbuckle, where the fans boo some more. The fans then chant "You tapped out!" Ciampa says everyone gave up on him long before he game up on them, and tells them not to forget it for even a second. He then says the fans disgust him. He then receives "Asshole!" chants, which he embraces before telling the fans they have a choice between shutting up and making noises, and that he doesn't care what they do. The fans obviously choose to keep making noises and alternate between "Johnny Wrestling" and "Psycho Killer" chants. He then talks about how Johnny Gargano interrupted a match last week because it is all about him. He then talks about Gargano announced to the entire world that he signed the contract for their match, and says "Johnny Wrestling" has become "Johnny Badass." This leads to "Johnny Badass" chants. He then says that two weeks ago, Gargano nearly injured his own wife, and says the best part is that it is all on him and that he did not even want to fight Gargano. He then says Gargano insisted even after people pleaded to Gargano not to attack him. Ciampa then says all he tried to do was defend himself. He says the truth hurts and that Gargano should have listened to his wife, and now he should listen to him. He tells Gargano not to show up at NXT TakeOver: Chicago, as his fairy tale will come to an unhappy end. He says that Gargano will be broken just like Candice LeRae and that he will win. Suddenly, Johnny Gargano shows up, shoving two security guards away before getting his hands on Ciampa. Security tries to stop Gargano, but Gargano overpowers them. Referees try to stop Gargano, but Gargano clotheslines Ciampa over the barricade before attacking another security guard and fighting Ciampa in the crowd. More members of security show up, and this time they hold back both men. Gargano escapes security's grasp yet again and dives into Ciampa, knocking him down. Ciampa goes back over the barricade, but Gargano continues to go after him. Two members of security gets elbowed again, and that is enough for Ciampa to hit Gargano with a clothesline before stomping his head and putting Gargano in the Gargano Escape. Referees try to pull Ciampa off of Gargano, then Ciampa rolls out of the ring and heads to the back as Gargano lies in the middle of the ring. Gargano gets back and slams Ciampa's head into the LED boards on the stage before putting him in the Gargano Escape to end the show.

We see a video package of Bianca Belair, who says she has the brightest future in the NXT Women's Division. Next week, the audience will learn more about her in "Who Is Bianca Belair?"

We see a video package for Ethan Carter III, who will be coming back soon.

Lacey Evans beats Kairi Sane by knocking Kairi Sane out of the air with A Woman's Right, giving Kairi Sane her first televised pinfall loss.

In footage from earlier tonight, Cathy Kelley is outside of the arena and comes across Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae. Gargano says he and Candice have discussed their future, and he is going to mention what happens next for them in the ring. He says he does not want to do it, but it has to be done.

We see footage from after last week's where Biff Busick and Danny Burch have earned a right to the NXT tag team titles, and that they will beat The Undisputed Era again.

We hear from The Undisputed Era, who say that Oney Lorcan, Danny Burch and Pete Dunne were lucky last week, and that there is no way that Lorcan and Burch are contenders to the NXT tag team titles. They continue to call Lorcan and Burch nobodies, and say that the charade will come to an end at NXT TakeOver: Chicago. Meanwhile, Roderick Strong wants Danny Burch in the ring so he can prove last week was a fluke and that Lorcan and Burch are out of their league.

Lars beats Velveteen Dream and Ricochet in a 2-on-1 handicap match when Ricochet accidentally pushes Velveteen Dream off the top rope on a hot tag, causing Velveteen Dream to turn on Ricochet, hit him with a rolling Death Valley Driver and leave Ricochet high and dry.

Next week: Dakota Kai vs. "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women's Championship!

In footage from earlier today, Cathy Kelley interviews Dakota Kai. Dakota says her match is something she has waited for for so long, but she has allowed "The Queen of Spades" Shayna Baszler to get into her head. Suddenly, Baszler shows up and tells Dakota that she does not stand a chance. Dakota responds by saying "We'll see about that."

Next week: Aleister Black live!

Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae show up. Gargano says the last time he walked into Full Sail University, it was for a championship match, but the bell never rang and he left on a stretcher. When he wakes up, his body reminds him of being kneed into an LED board and sent into a table. He has been wrestling his whole life, but he has sat down with Candice and he has realized that it is time to start thinking about his and Candice's future. Gargano asks himself if it is worth it, and the crowd chants "Yes!" Gargano says that with the injuries adding up and the toll it has taken on his family and friends, he asks again if it is worth it. The crowd once again chants "Yes!" After consulting with Candice, Gargano takes the neck brace off and says it is worth it, and calls out Tommaso Ciampa, daring him to finish this once and for all, much to the protest of Candice. Ciampa shows up and Candice runs away, and Ciampa says that if Gargano is still in the ring when he gets in, he will finish this. Suddenly, Candice comes back with some referees, and Gargano rolls out of the ring and tries to get at Ciampa. Gargano eventually calms down, and Ciampa mockingly waves goodbye at him before telling him to be a good little boy and listen to his wife. Gargano bolts for the ring, but gets pushed off the apron and into Candice, who hits the back of her head on the steel grates of the entrace ramp and is knocked out. Gargano checks on Candice as Ciampa walks away. WWE medical staff also show up to check on Candice, and the show ends.

After the match, Lacey Evans shows up and says a true lady with class has to be able to admit they were wrong. Kairi refuses to shake hands with her, and Lacey Evans hits her with a cheap shot.

Cathy Kelley interviews Candice LeRae backstage. She says that this has not been an easy year after what Johnny Gargano has gone through, but now it has been up and down ever since Tommaso Ciampa turned on him. She says that this should be over and done with, but now Ciampa has stretchered her husband Gargano out of the building. She tears up and leaves to get ready for her match, never providing an update on Gargano.

We see a vignette for Lars Sullivan, where he says that he touched championship gold at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans and warns that he is going after anyone with a title as the era of destruction will begin.

He has known Johnny Gargano for over ten years and knows what kind of person is, but he also knows the person that Tommaso Ciampa has become, and he calls him a coward. We see footage from earlier today where Dakota Kai talks about the state of the NXT Women's Division. She says she wants to make her mark in NXT. Then, The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O'Reilly) shows up, and Adam Cole says Roderick is looking for another match to lose. Pete Dunne reminds Adam Cole he has won nothing since he has showed up, and Regal asks if there is a problem. Cole says there is no problem, and The Undisputed Era leaves.

Baszler says she has called out Ember Moon for weeks and has gotten nothing but silence, and says that Ember Moon is afraid to face her.

We hear from Heavy Machinery (Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic) at the WWE Performance Center. Last year they were veal; this year, they are nice, aged beef. They say that none of the other teams are ready from them.

Tommaso Ciampa shows up with a crutch in his hand and a brace around his right leg. Ciampa approaches the ring as the crowd boos him and chants "We Want Johnny!" After he gets in the ring, the crowd continues to boo him, keeping him from speaking. The crowd eventually starts chanting "You Suck!" at Ciampa, then boo him again before he can speak. After another "We Want Johnny!" chant, Ciampa angrily throws the microphone down, puts down the crutch and grabs the microphone again, but he is still booed. Ciampa then throws the microphone down a second time, stands on the apron to watch the crowd sing Na Na Hey Hey (The Goodbye Song) at him, then leaves the ring. But now, there is a devil on his back, and that devil is driving him, because that devil is the NXT Championship. He also says that devil is driving him to possess something, but before he can say what that something is, Killian Dain shows up. Dain says the devil is not on Black's back; he is. He says he will not stop until the NXT Championship is around his waist. He warns that if Black has a problem with it, his path will be stopped by chaos. Killian Dain is about to leave the ring when Aleister Black addresses him, telling Dain he crossed him and that he must now fade to black. Dain drops off the apron and leaves.

No Way Jose plans to make 2017 fun inside the ring and out, saying it's a new year but the same him. He is suddenly confronted by Kona Reeves, who says that he helped Rich Swann over him when SAnitY attacked them and that he doesn't reward disloyalty. He then realizes General Manager William Regal and the fans believe in him, then SAnitY shows up. Eric Young tells Dillinger he didn't have it, but he could, and that all he needs is some guidance and a proper path. He offers him a spot in SAnitY, and Alexander Wulfe walks up to the apron with a leather jacket. Dillinger takes the jacket and drops it over the top rope. Young says he gets it, saying that the right decision can sometimes feel wrong and that the right decision can be unclear, as he has been there. He says 2016 should have been his year, but it wasn't, but now he plans to do that with 2017 and do it all his way, and he offers that choice to Dillinger, this time telling him he's not asking. Dillinger takes the jacket, then drops it in front of him before fighting him and Wulfe. All of a sudden, Dillinger - who is about to hit the Tye Breaker on Eric Young - is Speared by Big Damo, who then finishes Dillinger off. He also explains the NXT TakeOver: Dallas ticket, saying it was when the Nakamura era began. He says that Nakamura calls himself "The King of Strong Style," but says he has no style and makes fun of his hair and jacket. Nakamura says he knew their paths would cross, and says Roode looks like a Shibu Inue. The crowd starts a "Shibu Inue" chant, then Roode calls Japan "the land of zero talent" before calling himself the greatest wrestler on God's green earth and Nakamura a joke. He says the wrestlers and the fans are becoming more like him, and he plans to take the NXT Championship title from him at San Antonio, Texas. General Manager William Regal is in the ring with security to moderate the contract signing between "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe for the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver: Toronto. Nakamura is introduced first, followed by Samoa Joe. Joe, however, leaves as soon as he sees security and heads back to the back to bring his own table complete with a steel chair to sit in as he places both on the entrance ramp, saying he'll do his business there so he doesn't have to put Nakamura down. He knows Nakamura knows he can put him out for a while, but tells him he is a benevolent future NXT Champion and will give him his chance for revenge at TakeOver and not on NXT television in front of "mouthbreathers." He then orders William Regal to hand him the contract so he can sign it from the entrance ramp. Regal slowly leaves the ring and walks up the ramp to hand him the contract, and he signs. Joe then makes Regal pick the contract up, and Regal takes the contract to the ring. Nakamura takes the contract, then drops it before fighting off all six security guards in the ring and laying them out, with one of them going through a table. He then signs the contract, then drops it on the guy laid on on the broken table to end the show as Nakamura dares Joe to get in the ring with him.

Regal shows up, and tells Joe he will fight who he tells him to fight. Joe says he had to jump over every hoop Regal had to get the title, and that Nakamura did not do that. He wants Regal to get him "a real, deserving contender," but Regal tells him if he refuses, it counts as a forfeit and Joe loses the title.
