Generation NXT - NXT recap for May 25, 2016

NXT General Manager William Regal announces that due to Bayley's injury from last week, she will not be able to take on Asuka for the NXT Women's Championship. As a result, there will be a Triple Threat match tonight between Carmella, Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax to decide a new #1 contender.

Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa beat the debuting The Mighty Don't Kneel (Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste), who now go by the name TM61 (Shane Thorne and Nick Miller). ("T" is Shane Thorne, Nicholls' new name. "M" is Nick Miller, Haste's new name. "61" is a reference to +61, the International Calling Code for their native Australia.)

We take a look at what's going on with Finn Balor as of late.

Cathy Kelley interviews Bayley, who says that NXT General Manager William Regal made the right decision in deciding a new #1 contender for the Women's title. Nia Jax shows up and tells Bayley she'll never be the same fighter she was before after she broke her. Carmella shows up to confront Nia Jax, who then talks trash about Alexa Bliss, who shows up and confronts Nia only for Nia to walk away, saying Alexa isn't worth her time. Alexa then confronts Carmella, saying this is her opportunity. Carmella says she'll remember that when she's making her tap out.

Coming soon to NXT: Andrade "Cien" Almas...

Austin Aries shows up. Aries says "the best" is the most overrated, and says he's done a lot to be the best, but also says that timing is everything. He says that it's only a matter of time before he is NXT Champion, when "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura suddenly shows up and tells Aries that the title is coming to him. NXT General Manager William Regal shows up and says he's impressed, but when they both came to the ring tonight, he saw something more. He then puts them in a match against each other at NXT TakeOver. Nakamura offers his hand, and Aries shakes it.

American Alpha (Jason Jordan and Chad Gable) admit that The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder) are the toughest team they've faced, but they're ready for them. They promise to prove they're the better team at NXT TakeOver.

No Way Jose beats Jonathan Ortegon (who is better known in the indies as Jonny Vandal). No Way Jose dances with Tom Phillips and Corey Graves after the match.

Cathy Kelley interviews Asuka, who says that she doesn't care who the #1 contender for the Women's title is after tonight, as she will defeat them at NXT TakeOver.

Next week: Corey Graves interviews Samoa Joe and Finn Balor in the same room! Austin Aries vs. "The Drifter" Elias Samson!

Nia Jax beats Carmella and Alexa Bliss in a Triple Threat match to become #1 contender for the NXT Women's Championship. Asuka shows up after the match and lifts the NXT Women's Championship up from the entrance ramp, then heads down the ramp and into the ring. The show ends with Nia Jax and Asuka staring each other down.
