Generation NXT - NXT recap for July 27, 2016

Earlier today, Wesley Blake told Buddy Murphy that he'll beat "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura and - unlike Murphy - win tonight, while Buddy Murphy says he'll beat Kota Ibushi and prove he's better than Blake.

"The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura beats Wesley Blake, who comes to the ring for this match with a new entrance theme and new look. NXT General Manager William Regal shows up and congratulates Nakamura, then says he wanted to wait until Samoa Joe entered the building to make this announcement, but he makes it anyway. Regal announces that the main event on August 20th at NXT TakeOver will be Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Samoa Joe for the NXT Championship.

Billie Kay beats Santana Garrett.

Bayley talks with William Regal, and says she's ready for the title rematch with Asuka and wants it in Brooklyn. William Regal says he'll talk to Asuka, and if there's no issue, he'll set the match up.

TM61 (Shane Thorne and Nick Miller) beat Rob Ryzin and Adrian Nails. Both teams shake hands after the match.

Hideo Itami returns to NXT next week!

A more aggressive No Way Jose beats Steve Cutler, who has not been on NXT programming in some time and has also showed up with a new look and entrance theme. After the match, Jose tells Austin Aries he was trying to be encouraging, but Aries took advantage and became a coward. He tells Austin Aries he can turn a fiesta into a fight, and that he's going to kick his ass.

Kota Ibushi beats Buddy Murphy in his NXT debut.

Samoa Joe considers his NXT Championship defense against "The King of Strong Style" Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II a huge act of disrespect, and plans to fix this right now.

Next week: Bobby Roode arrives in NXT!

Samoa Joe shows up. He didn't know that NXT General Manager William Regal put him in a NXT Championship match against Shinsuke Nakamura until he walked into the building. He is angry with William Regal for not consulting him first, and says the match will not happen as he calls Nakamura "an undeserving contender" and didn't do what he did to get to the title. Regal shows up, and tells Joe he will fight who he tells him to fight. Joe says he had to jump over every hoop Regal had to get the title, and that Nakamura did not do that. He wants Regal to get him "a real, deserving contender," but Regal tells him if he refuses, it counts as a forfeit and Joe loses the title. Joe tells Regal that if this is how he wants to play, he'll have his match, but he will destroy Nakamura, and if he sees Nakamura before TakeOver, Nakamura might not make it to TakeOver at all. Nakamura shows up and stares down Samoa Joe from the top of the entrance ramp to end the show.
